Lee, Hae-Wook ; Lee, Jeong-Soo ; Song, Yong-Ho ;
Journal of the Korean housing association, volume 17, issue 5, 2006, Pages 1~8
Being rapidly increased in population of the elderly, the welfare of the elderly is no longer family's and personal problems. It is a social issue that have to be solved by the community and the government. Daejeon city government faces the same social issue and should release the solution to the community in the near future. Based on the new trend of deinstitutionalization and community care for the elderly who live in normal home rather than for those in protection systems, the solution could be released to the elderly. This paper is assessed as the first stage research of normalization of the old people's living. By the comparition analysis of the existing Senior Welfare Center in Daejeon city and Japan, the facility space improvement method was considered. And through the above investigation and comparition analysis, the method that extend and improve the welfare facility space of Senior Welfare Center is proposed.

Chan, Kook ; Jeon, Ji-Hyeon ; Shin, Yong-Gyu ;
Journal of the Korean housing association, volume 17, issue 5, 2006, Pages 9~16
The researches on the environmental friendly buildings have carried out on the materials, environmental property, technical elements and etc., and various buildings with these green materials have built and under construction nowadays and became a new trend of the green building. And recently, new building technique which builds the wall with the soil and wood and very easy to construct (called M Earthen House) was introduced as the green building and rapidly propagated. But the research on the indoor climatic characteristics, the ability to control the environmental comfort and the influence to the human beings of these buildings are not sufficiently identified yet. In this paper, the indoor environmental characteristics and the temperature controlling ability of these buildings in summer season were measured and analysed by the Portable Indoor Air Quality Monitor(BABUC/A, LSI) measuring equipments, ana the subjective test on the thermal environment of the subjects were carried out to evaluate the thermal comfort. The results can be summarized as follows; 1) Compared to the outdoor dry bulb temp.(
), the indoor temp. was
. It showed the temperature controlling ability of the M earthen house was outstanding. And the indoor relative humidity, compared to the outdoor(
, it showed the humidity controlling ability of the M earthen house was also outstanding. 2) The thermal environment was evaluated as 'comfort'(neutral-slightly warm) and the humidity was also evaluated as 'comfort'(neutral-slightly humid). So, the results of the physical and subjective evaluation on the indoor thermal comfort in summer season were 'neutral' and 'comfort' coincidently, it was confirmed that the controlling ability of the indoor temperature and humidity of the M earthen house was very excellent.
A Study on the User's Opinion of Introducing Interior Landscape into Apartment Housing
Lee, Chan-Hui ; Cho, Sung-Woo ; Oh, Se-Gyu ;
Journal of the Korean housing association, volume 17, issue 5, 2006, Pages 17~25
This study begins to make inquires about user's opinion of introducing Interior Landscape into Apartment Housing to grip the problems of contemporary Interior Landscape and suggest the fundamental data to improve it. The city-ward drifting of population drawn from industrial development and aggravation of living condition bring about exclusion of nature and lack of green space. Furthermore, it increases the length of stay of urban liver in indoor space. Thus, dwellers' desire to Interior Landscape increase but housing can't follow it. The purpose of this study is to understand characteristics of Interior Landscape, derive essential factors, study plans, establish radical data, and suggest better plans including Interior Landscape through making inquires about user's opinion.
A Study on the Lexicon-Use Behaviour of Architects & the Basic Lexicons in House Design
Youn, Dae-Han ;
Journal of the Korean housing association, volume 17, issue 5, 2006, Pages 27~37
This paper analyzed statistically two corpora that were constructed from the texts about house designs written by Korean architects and PA Awards architects. The main results are as follows; (1) The numbers of words in Korean house-design corpus were 9,352 and those of words in PA Awards house design corpus were 2,379. The former were 18.7% and the latter 4.8% of about 50,000 words regarded as the rest using scale in actual life. (2) When the architects described their house designs, the lexicon-concentration phenomenon was pervasive in both groups. Therefore, we can infer that the high-frequency lexicons are very important in house design. (3) The architects' behaviour patterns of using the house-design lexicons, went by rules according to the word frequency order. The tendency formulas of them had the
values which were more than 90%. (4) In Korean house design corpus, the high frequency lexicons were '공간', '층', '주택', '집', '대지', '거실', and '실'. In PA awards house design corpus, they were 'house','room','space','living','wall','level' and 'area'. From these results, We can tell that 'space' is the highest frequency word in house design of the two groups, and that '대지 ' and 'wall' are the words that reveal well the differences between the two groups.

were continuously and centrally supplied according to the housing policy and practical demand. 4) For the types of story were variously found ; Especially the below 5 story apartment was continuously supplied.
A Study on the Spread of Apartments Using the Correlation Analysis among Housing Statistics Indices
Choi, Jung-Min ;
Journal of the Korean housing association, volume 17, issue 5, 2006, Pages 77~86
This study is to find some clues about background or causes of the mass supply of apartments in Korea in terms of correlation analysis using 30 indices extracted from the representative housing statistics data. Some findings include that the supply ratio of apartments is deeply related to 'average floor area ratio' and 'the construction amount of Dagagu housing and Dasedae housing' from the perspective of housing flow. Instead, from the perspective of housing stock, the supply amount of apartments is strongly related to 'housing redevelopment construction' and 'housing construction by public sector'. These indices are involved deeply in the spread of apartments, however, because the indices that used in the analysis are mutually highly related and the indices related to housing policy or system are absent, a critical index for the spread of apartments was not found.
A Study on the Economic Repair Pattern of the Building Components in the Apartment Housing
Lee, Kang-Hee ; Chae, Chang-U ;
Journal of the Korean housing association, volume 17, issue 5, 2006, Pages 87~95
Building components have been deteriorated by various factors such as location, a building type, a surrounding environment and so on. In addition, each component has a peculiar characteristics, compared with other components in properties of matter an used part. Building components would be required to maintain its function and performance to provide the resident with a decent living condition. It is important to decide the repair time, scope and a required cost in repair plan, considering the each component's characteristics. In this parer, it aimed at providing the economic repair pattern to analyze the relation of the time-elapse and the cumulative repair cost in the apartment housing using 3rd quadratic function. Results of the study are as follows: First, the shape of the function for the economic repair is classified into two type. One is the continuous increase type of the cumulative cost which properly means the iterative repair type after built. The other is that the function has the maximum state at a point which means one-repair after its repair would be delayed to a scheduled time. Second, the iterative repair pattern would include window, roof proof, lighting and water supply pipe. The other repair pattern would include the paintings, heating pipe and sign board.

A Study on the Design Characteristics of Court Housing in Korea Case Study on the Competition Entries of Eunpyung Newtown
Kang, In-Ho ; Park, So-Young ;
Journal of the Korean housing association, volume 17, issue 5, 2006, Pages 107~116
This study was to figure out the design characteristics of court housing type for the purpose of searching for the possibility of applying it to the housing design in Korea. In spite of changes of housing design condition in Korea, especially steep increase in density, there have been changes only in the height of housing block, not in the housing types, layout, spatial organization and other design properties. Due to such a situation, housing in Korea has been criticised as too high, monotonous one - especially types of housing block tend to be fixed into a slab block and a point block. As one of the alternatives to respond to the criticism, this study focused on the positive aspects of the court housing type, and suggested the design direction throughout the analysis of 8 entries in the design competition of EunPyeong New Town, which attempted to overcome the negative problems - mainly the daylighting, orientation, and privacy - and tried to maximize the positive properties of this type of housing.

Kim, Keun-Ho ; Cho, Tong-Buhm ; Kim, Mi-Hyang ;
Journal of the Korean housing association, volume 17, issue 5, 2006, Pages 117~126
Although we have seen recently increasing number of eco-villages, any eco-village is not registered in Global Eco-village Network. It is important to review the definition of eco-villages and to provide useful basic information for future eco-villages. The main research aim is to analyze landscape characteristics of community garden and common spaces and to identify ecological symbolism of landscape created by residents in eco-villages. Seven eco-villages in Germany, Denmark and UK were selected and the following aspects were investigated through field survey; the settlement background, social and economical aspect, architectural specifications, recycled energy, and landscape characteristics of external spaces in eco-villages. The result indicated that the landscape of eco-village did intend neither to return to primitive society nor to control nature by technology. It intended to coexistence with nature. Primitive nature is symbolically restored and people who have it in mind strongly intend to grow together this common sense. Landscape creation has important role in creating common relationship between human living and nature. When we regard it conceptually as the eco-symbolism in landscape design of community garden, it presented the meaningful relationship with landscape and human life. It is not expression of landscape materiality and designed form but sense of place and landscape image. Landscape design would be expected to reveal the life stage and cycle from designed physical form and materiality through as time goes by when it is part of environmental circulation process by means of human living as meaningful relationship.
