Activities in the Chung-Ji-Kan of the Dallajae Traditional Farmhouse in Lungching. China

This paper is a part of “The Study of The Traditional Korean Ethnic Farmhousing in Yanbian. China. The purpose of this study is to investigate the activities of the chung-ji-kan(the combined kitchen and major ondol living room). of the traditional farmhouse. It is based on a survey of 124 households in the farm villages of Lungching, China. Survey research methods included a field study in Dallajae. A questionnaire was used to conduct this study. The major findings are: 1) the average family is 3.25 persons and the nuclear family type is prevalent; ) the building plan of the farmhouse is the Ham-Kyoung-Do ‘double file’ dwelling type, the average 5.2kan(51.1
) house; ) the chung-ji-kan floor changed from straw matting or seomyu-pan(a kind of veneer board) to a vinyl flooring; 4) the chung-ji-kan ondol is the important center of activities for the farm family; thus the sitting life style of Korean ondol culture continues in Yanbian, China.
A Study on the Elevation of Korean Traditional Architecture in Visual Perception

This thesis is concerned with a study of spatial characteristics of Korean traditional architecture in visual perception. This study, therefore has been made of principles of visual perception. range of visual perception in architectural environment, spatial characteristics of Korean traditional architecture, and example case studies are exhibited. The architectural compositional principles of parts selected in process of study could be selected to facilitate comparison with the perceptual psychology. The result of this study can be used to construct Korean architectural plans. elevations. form and spatial and order pertinent to human understandings and existances on the priority of wholeness and the relationship of parts to visual perception.
A Study on the Characteristics of the Housing and V Village on Nampeong Moon′s Bonli Ma-Yul in Daegu

This study is to search for the characteristics of spatial structure and elements of architectural composition on the housing and village in Nampeong Moon's Bonli Ma-Yul which formed. from the late nineteenth century to the the early twentieth century. This village had as many as characters of spatial and architectural structures of traditional clan villages previous to the late nineteenth century, but showed housing alternations on social changes of late Cho-Sun dynasty. Main points of these were as follows; 1) As the main doors of the housing were located on the right of Sa-Rang-Chae, men and women's moving lines of coming in and out were not nearly divided. 2)As korean veranda on the right and left, and the front and rear of those were set up, the demand on extension of room area coping with changes of life was satisfied.
A study on the site and floor plan type of official residences during the japanese colonial period in Taegu province.

The official residences were built for japanese official who had lived in Taegu province during the japanese colonial period. The purpose of this study is to find the prototypes of site and plan patterns for the official residences in Taegu province during the japanese colonial period. Their site-plans are classified into either individual and row type depending on the building's composition. These each have three and two branch types assording to the location of the innercourt and main entrance. The floor plans are classified into the four types according to the location of the corridor.
A Study on Expressive Aspects of Contemporary Architecture

This Study is to divide aspects broadly that can be suggested with eyes to contemporary issues through assertions of contemporary theorists. verify those on case studies. and search for criteria on the framework of composition on expression of contemporary architecture. As the proposal of this study. the unified approach through a deductive and inductive study in the light of humanism and design creativity can establish the built environment considering human-centered architecture.
Domestic Space Usage and Behavioral Patterns in Belgium (II) -With Special Reference to the Dutch Speaking Community-

The purpose of this study is to explore the relationships between the various types of activities occurring in domestic space and the resident's characteristics in Belgium. Data for this study was collected by questionnaires mailed to 133 staff member. both academic and administrative. working at The Free University of Brussels. a university serving the Dutch speaking community in Belgium. General leneal model and Duncan test were used in analyzing the data. The major findings of the study can be summarized as follows: First. families in the life-cycle stage of having no children are more likely to relax and watch T.V. and do housework in the master bedroom than those in the launching stage. Families in the life-cycle stage of elementary school are more likely to eat meals in the kitchen than those in the launching period. Second. families made up two members and under tend to do more housework in the master bedroom than those of three and over. Third. those with aged 30 and under are more likely to relax and watch T.V., and to do housework in the master bedroom than those with aged 51 and over. Forth. the renter status of homeownership tend to more relax and watch T.V., and to do housework in the master bedroom than the owner Fifth. those living with less floor space tend to relax and watch T.V. in the master bedroom more than those with larger residences.
Group Homes for Elderly People with Dementia in Sweden

It is very well known all over the world that Sweden has a long history of social welfare, especially in the area of housing for the elderly and they have managed it successfully until now. In this study. the group homes for the elderly with dementia which has been adapted and developed in Sweden recently is discussed in reference to the characteristics of the inhabitants, way of management, and architectural design for the group homes in order to find any possibility to apply it in Korea in the future.
A Study on the Residential Behavior of Cheju Province

Cheju province exposes a separated residential culture compared to the mainland area. since it has its own unique climate, natural features. Therefore, this study tried to grasp the residential behavior. was based on the questionnaire to Cheju province people, using the approach by statistic verification. This study also focused and aimed on suggesting the basic data about housing plan which is appropriate to the climate. natural features requirement from inhabitants through the comparison and analysis between the mainland area and Cheju province. The results of the study are as follows; Firstly. the diversified applicative study on ‘Ol-rae’. ‘Ma-dang’, ‘Yoo-young’ and so forth that is traditional outside garden of Cheju is imperative, because in urban area people think traffics, vicinity, etc. are more significant, and in rural area people think occupying large outside space is more significant. Secondly. in the study of the degree of satisfaction on the housing, most of the people's was ‘neutral’ and in rural area quite a lot of negative reaction exposed. This is owing to the uniform introduction on residential style of the mainland area. Thirdly, housing plan should be considered family members' housing needs and provincial characteristics, meanwhile most of the people answered positively about the residential value which is considered very significant lately, for instance, security of privacy. appropriate plan for child's room.
Needs for Shared Community Spaces and Housing Consciousness among Apartment Housing Dwellers

This study explores the patterns of housing-related attitudes and the kind of needs for shared community spaces among small-sized apartment housing dwellers. The major findings are as follows. The majority of the dwellers are in a strong need of common spaces. especially for children's activities. social gathering and physical exercises. Housing consciousness can be grouped into 4 categories the propensity to making up common society. the propensity to pursuing the quality of neighborhood. the propensity to orienting natural environment. and the propensity to participating in community. Families with children in primary school are more likely to get involved in the community and the common society than those with children in high school or those in the stage of launching a family. The propensity to making up common society and pursing the quality of neighborhood have stronger impact on needs for shared community space. This study reveals that the sense of community orientation is the most powerful predictor variable for shared community space needs.
The Evaluation of the Residential Environmental Qualities in the New Town

The purpose of this study was to formulate the model which focus on the quality of housing, and to evaluate the residential environmental qualities according to the model. SPSS PC
for window (version 6.1) were used for these purposes. The major findings are as follows: 1) The level of housing quality were divided into two dimensions: amenity and convenience. 2) Good towns of amenity among the new towns were found Bundang, Ilsan, Gwucheon, Mokdong and good towns of convenience were found Yeongtong, Joongdong, Pyeongchon.
The Preference of One Room Apartment According to the Type of Life style

This study is intended to analyze the preference of one-room apartment according to the type of life style of single people between 20 and 30 years age. The major findings were as follows: 1) The single people prefer the one-roon apartment(90.2%). 2) The Life styles were classified into 5 types: tradition preservation. self-fulfillment, fashion-pursuit. economy priority. convenience-pursuit. 3) The preference of a one room apartment is strongly influenced by all types of life styles regardless of tradition preservation.
The Present Condition of Facilities and Actual Condition about the Domitory Building of Taegu Area

The purpose of this study was to suggest fundmental data for facilities and the design of domitory building by investigating satisfaction of residents and their demands, grasping the present situation and the problem through the present of facilities and resident's actual condition. The object of this research were facilities and students using the domitory building of five universities. To analyze the data, frequncy, percentage, mean, one-way ANOVA and duncan-test were used by running SPSS
/ program. The major results are as follows. 1. There were differencies in the type of living space. the construction and furniture in the domitory building according to the five universities. 2. In using domitory building, five university students have significant differences. 3. There were significant differences in the satisfaction about exterior. interior and socio-psychological environment and the level of performance to the behavior.
A study on the housing value of the university student in Taegu

The purpose of this study is to analyse the housing values of the university student. The data is collected through the self-entry questionnaire that designed for this study. The 512 data obtained were analysed by Frequencies. Mean, Factor analysis, t-test, oneway ANOVA,
-test. Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The major findings are as follows: 1) The Housing Value was classified of 5 factors which Location-Environment. Social - Psychology, Physical factor of Housing, Life-Conciousness and Investmental of Value. 2) Their relevance variables of Housing value were sex, the educational course and occupation of their father and income. 3) Their preference trend of Housing appeared to the apartment and One-room system, and green tract of the space etc.
A Study on the Evaluation of Dwelling Environment around High - Rise Apartments

This study was conducted to examine the environmental factors of apartments and therefore to suggest elements necessary to plan environments by evaluating and analysing both reside environments and conditions with residents at high-rise apartments in Kumi city. Kyongbuk. Korea. The result of this study is summarized as follows: 1) The motive of residence at apartment showed mainly the better environment of nature. and that the locational condition of those apartments was considered as a good standard for evaluating the apartment. 2) The evaluation of satisfaction showed that residents residing at apartment A tended to be satisfaied with all factors other than ‘complex’ although there was wholly dissatisfaction. In addition. it was shown that apartment B was satisfaied with housing and complex. apartment C with comfort. respectively. and apartment D with housing. 3) The evaluation of image showed that apartment C indicated the lowest variety of its complex while other factors were highly considered. Their image concerning residence was highest in apartment A. most lowest in apartment C. Then. apartment B showed the highest familiarity with and recognition of apartment complex.

A Study on the logic of systematic composition in architectural space

A Study on the Leisure Activity and Using Behavior of Neighbourhood Facilities for the aged

This study analyzed the leisure activity and using behavior of neighbourhood facilities for the aged. For this purpose, this study is to compare the preferred characteristics of the leisure and neighbourhood facilities according to housing type and region (urban/rural), The data of this study was collected by questionaire methods from 225 elderlies. The statistical analysis methods used in this study are frequency, percentage, chisquare test and anova, The results are following, l)The elderlies show differences in daily life and social relationship by housing type. 2)In leisure activities, the apartment elderlies preferred to sport, tour, climbing and fishing rather than the detached housing elderdies. 3)Apartment have more neighbour facilities than detached housing. But using frequency of facilities is low. Especially, most of the elderlies think that medical facilities is very important.
A Study of the Stall Keepers′ Behavior Characteristics in Urban Area (II)

This characteristics of stall keepers depend on items they treat and their main customers as follows. 1) The stall keepers around residential areas and traditional markets treat necessities such as vegitables. fishes. fruits, etc. Their main customers are regularly visiting housewives. 2) The stall keepers around CBD. mainstreet and amusement areas mainly treat alchoholic beverages and micellenious goods. Their marker areas are relatively wide. 3) The stall keepers want their business to be socially accepted as legal. Residents do not want to see illegal stall keepers around their residence even though they are frequent users of the stall keepers.
A Study on the improvement of Residential Environment in Housing Area

This study is about the improvement of housing environment through the research and analysis on how district-level roads are used and what the residents want about housing environment. The results are as follows: 1. As a result of the research on space usage, we could get the conclusion that street furniture occupies much space in the district-level roads, and the main causes of the space usage problems are from cars. 2. Because much space is used for parking, the district-level roads supposed to be the place for the pleasant and safe housing is changing into the main cause of the housing problems. Therefore we should find how to prevent the housing environment from being deteriorated through pridicting the traffic generation of future residential area. 3. Most residents park their cars near their houses in the district-level roads. In order to solve this problem, we have to secure the parking space and guarantee the safe traffic by designing the road space efficiently in spite of the inconvenience.
A Study on the environmental friendly Construction of the Residential Street for Improvement Residential Environment

A study on the technical details of masonry veneer and cavity walls - Focused on the out wyth of clay bricks -

Lack of technical standards, specification and inadequate execution in masonry wall construction in Korea lead to produce serious flaw problems such as crack, efflorescene, and upset etc.. The purpose of this paper is to present the practical details for Masonry cavity wall construction to prevent rain penetration and to accommodate differential movement between the inner and outer wythes of cavity walls. Considering rain penetration and differential movement of both wythes of cavity walls, provision of an adequate air space, an airtight back-up wall, clean cavity with weepholes and vents, properly positioned flashing, tie and shelf angle etc. depend on the cavity wall types will help ensure good performance. The present details included noncorrosive hot dip galvanized steel or stainless steel for metal components, plastic and ultra violet resistant polypropylene Copolymer for other components was taken into account the construction method and several types of cavity walls in Korea
A Study on the estimation method for the term of demolition work In Low-rise Apartment house - Focus on Clutcher Method -

After 1970 Years. Korea has developed a concept of public domestic housing. But this house is reached the uppermost limit time of using the occupant's satisfying life. Then reconstruction of Apartment house is urgently needed which is developed in Korea. So this study is examined the demolition work on current reconstructing apartment site. for reconstruction. Therefore this research examined the fitted demolition time of low-rise house and characteristics of demolition works. The conclusions from this experiment are shown below. 1. The average day work in clutcher method is shown about 1, 032㎥/Day. 2.
