The Effects of Talent Type and Body Consciousness on High level-Appearance Management Behavior

This study aims to define the influences of an individual`s talent types and body consciousness factors on high((intense)-level appearance management behavior in 367 adults(female 172 and male 195). The present study is the first to consider both human talent type and the body consciousness on the high level-appearance management behavior correlates to appearance management behaviour. According to the result of the analysis, plastic surgery on body forms or faces are done by few people. However, straightening teeth, ear piercing, removal of spots or imperfections, and eyebrow tattoos are conducted by many consumers without much resistance. It is rather widely accepted, despite the fact that it can cause pain, discomfort, and side-effects. Furthermore, although excessive acts such as muscle training, dieting, weight managing, and oriental treatments can lead to side-effects, the standardized efficient beta value turned out to be high for these treatments. Thus, this study suggests that both the interpersonal talent among 8 talent factors and 2 body consciousness factors contributes to the reinforcement of the self-identity through high level-appearance management behaviors, but except risky plastic surgery. Therefore, this study supports the previous researches that body consciousness composed of self-source, which is desires and efforts to achieve the ideal body, and external-source, which is the internalization of other people`s feedbacks.
The Classification of Manufacturing Work Processes to Develop Functional Work Clothes - With a Reference to the Automobile, Machine and Shipbuilding Industries -

In consideration of the injuries and deaths occurring at manufacturing sites due to the use of inappropriate work clothes or safety devices, this study aims to categorize manufacturing work processes to develop functional work clothes for heavy industries including the automobile, machine and shipbuilding industries in South Korea. Defining the features of the work environments and work postures of these industries provided for a categorization of the work processes which would enable the development of suitable work clothes for each work process` category. The results of the study based on a questionnaire survey are as follows: Work process category 1, including steel panel pressing and auto body assembly, final inspection (in automobile) and inspection (in machine), requires work clothes with upper body and arm mobility and performance to protect from the toxic fume factor. Work process category 2, consisting of welding (in automobile), cutting-and-forming (in machine) and attachment-and-construction (in shipbuilding), requires clothing elasticity, durability and heat and fire resistance. Work process category 3 comprising welding and grinding in the machine and shipbuilding industries, requires work clothes` tear resistance and elasticity, particularly for lateral bending mobility, and work clothes` sleeves` and pants` hemlines with sealed designs to defend against iron filing penetration, as well as incombustible and heat-resistant material performance. Finally, work process category 4, including painting in machine and shipbuilding, requires work clothes with waterproofing, air permeability, thermal performance, elasticity, durability and abrasion resistance.
Quilting Effect and Appearance Change according to Fabric Properties and Surface Reconstruction Method based on 3D Digital Clothing System

Quilting, a technique to join two or more layers of fabrics, has long been used in the textile and fashion sectors. To evaluate dimensional effect of quilting that changes according to the characteristics of fabrics, 3D scanning method is employed in this study. Goal of this study is to interpret how fabric`s composition, stiffness, thickness, and weight affect the appearance when quilted fabrics are used in a garment. Surface reconstruction method based on 3D scanning is used as a research method to evaluate the changing appearance depending on the material properties quantitatively with the quilting method. Besides, exemplary virtual clothing is realized through a virtual quilting method in 3D digital clothing system based on the properties of fabrics.
Analysis of the Jean Pants Street Fashion for Men in Seoul, 2012

This study researched the jeans street fashion for young men looked like 20s and 30s in Seoul, and analyzed jeans by silhouette by fit and color by washing. The photos were of jeans from the waist to the bottom; and among a total of 1,159 images, 847 images that could be analyzed were selected and used for the analysis. From the images used in the analysis, the jeans fits were categorized according to silhouette and color that were used for the visual selection. As a result, young men preferred fashion jeans like slim or skinny jeans. Most of the tight fitting skinny and slim jeans were slim baggy style jeans, like low waist & long rise with a low back york, which was a key trendy pants style. The jeans color analysis by washing finish showed that dark jeans were most frequently, most of the dark jeans had the original denim color based on the non or normal wash techniques. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as basic data for the development of designs for jeans brands.
A study of Fashion art Illustration employing Matisse Painting

Modern art is getting more comprehensive and diversified regardless of genre in many forms due to the pluralism and anti-aesthetic trend of the time which is impacted by post modernism. This atmosphere is also applied to fashion illustration which creates synergy effect in cooperation with many different genres. This study selected Matisse` paper cut-out as the subject which would reflect the minimalism and ionism of modern plasticity. By taking this as the motive for fashion illustration, I made seven illustration works with the subject of minimalism of form and color. The conclusion of this study is as following. First, Matisse`s paper cut out has controlled plasticity related to the modern ionism and it well fits the modern trend and sensibility which is appropriate for motive of fashion illustration. Second, by upgrading the technique of Matisse` paper cut-out in a modern way such as combination of hand drawing and computer graphic using Photoshop, I was able to make originative and creative illustration works with background and patterns that were closely connected with each other. Third, applying the fashion illustration to other various products is being well received now and I made my illustrations that could lead to follow up studies to apply the fashion illustration to other different products. Matisse` paper cut-our has forms, colors and patterns that can contain both commercial and artistic value. Therefore it is quite feasible for follow up research to apply into many different areas.
A Study on Royal Ceremonial Hair styles of Chosun Dynasty

This study covers the literature of theoretical backgrounds of royal ceremonial hair styles during Chosun Dynasty and demonstrates reproduction works of those hair styles reinterpreted in modern methods. As for the Chosun royal hair styles for ceremonies, there are Daesoo, Gudoomi, and Euyoumi for a royal queen, royal concubines, and royal lady attendants of Nae Myung Boo, department of general affairs of the royal court. These hair styles represents well that Chosun Dynasty kept its own class symbols through hair styles, which is valuable cultural resources of Korean traditional beauties. This study compares the new reproduction works of Daesoo, Gudoomi, and Euyoumi with existing literature pieces and related photos for clear understanding of these traditional hair styles. This study aims to activate the relevant researches into Korean traditonal hair styles, their reproduction methods and applicable usages in Modern Korea as well as useful data for them.
Study on Anti- Lookism An analysis through Modern art and Fashion

In modern society, humans` misdirected aspirations towards ideal beauty are discussed and criticized. This research utilizes a paradox to express the modern standard of beauty and the society`s homogenization of it through plastic surgery. An empirical analysis was conducted of the artist`s works that reflect anti-lookism. The works were classified as provocation, aesthetic, symbolic and paradoxical depending on the variety of the artists` approaches and expressions. Also, this part looks at anti-lookism cases in modern fashion industry that were given lascivious expressions. They characterized various types of human beauty. Anti-lookism is a movement that goes against this social trend. It seeks to awaken modern citizens from blind submission to homogenized beauty and commercialization of humans. This study intends to offer an image of ideal beauty that should appreciate and the concept of an ideal female body. The author hope that further researches are done in social, political, cultural and other levels of the society to establish anti-lookism.
Effects of Price Attitude toward Apparel Products on Shopping Values and Consumption Behavior

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of price-attitude toward apparel products on shopping values and consumption behavior. The study was carried out in Deagu and Kyungbook area. Applying the convenience sampling, total 326 questionnaire were collected from university students who were randomly selected as participants. This study used frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, regression analysis, and t-test for data analysis. The finding are as follows. Price-attitude toward apparel products was categorized into information leading, price dignity, price discount, list price orientation, quality value and using coupons. Shopping tendency factors were found as pursuit of pleasure, pursuit of sociality, and pursuit of economic feasibility. Consumption behavior factors were categorized into impulsive buying, ostentatious consumption, utilization of internet information, possession of material and brand trust. Price-attitude toward apparel products had a significant effect on shopping values and consumption behavior. University students seemed to consider the value of money to be very important as well as economic feasibility. They utilized information from the internet to buy products with good quality and showed high usage level of coupons. And, university students who buy at a least price tried to show dignity with expensive brand products and they consider those brands express self-confidence.
Color Image Analysis of Cosmetic Web-Site for Color Marketing

This study aims to derive the sensitive image analysing the color tones based on the web-sites of cosmetic brand and to know how the web-site color tones and the color tone image as visual factor for information transfer do influence the effective communication. 10 cosmetic brand web-sites are selected based on the pre survey, and the main page color tones of cosmetic brand web-site are analyzed by Color Catch and Munsell Conversion program, whereas the composition of color tones and color image such as the main trend colors, secondary colors, accent colors and etc are analyzed by a graphic professional program `Adobe Photoshop`. 5 color tone groups are classified as Black&White, Green&White, Blue&White, Purple&White and Red&White according to the color distribution chart, and the emotional language is derived applying them to the pre research and IRI image scale. The color association is empirically analyzed by a survey method. The study results finally show Black&White is proper for expression of high quality and modern image, Green&White for pure and clean image, Blue&White for cool and transparent image, Purple&White for mysterious and elegant image respectively. This study results are necessary for plan of color delivering the strong transferring power of visual information the time when to make the effective web-sites, and it hopefully will be utilized as the basic data for the color marketing to actively express the brand identity and to satisfy the consumers` sensitivity.
Effect of Standards of Selecting Jeans and Appearance Management Behavior on Leisure Lifestyle

This study was to examine the effect of standards of selecting jeans and appearance management behavior on leisure lifestyle. Questionnaires were administered to 253 college students living in Deagu and Kyoungbuk. Data were analyzed by using frequency, factor analysis, regression analysis, t-test, and
-test. The findings are as follows. Factor structure of each concept appeared to be brand-valued, functionality valued and design-valued for standards of selecting jeans, diet management, exercise management, weight management and appearance satisfaction. Leisure lifestyle consisted of sports activity-type, sociality-type and self-management-type while value lifestyle consisted of active sociality-oriented, family-oriented and economic feasibility-oriented. There was a significant difference in brand-valued and design-valued of standards of selecting jeans and in frequency of wearing jeans male students showed higher than female students. The result of this study showed brand-valued, diet management, exercise management, weight management, and appearance satisfaction had significant effect on sports activity-type and design-valued and weight management had significant effect on sociality-type. Brand-valued affected self-management-type significantly and brand-valued, design-valued, diet management and appearance satisfaction had a significant effect on active sociality-oriented and brand-valued and diet management affected family-oriented.
Basic Research on the Development of Skinny Jean Pants for Korean Women in Their 20s

This study is meaningful in that it builds the basic data necessary for developing skinny jeans for Korean women in their 20s based on the level of satisfaction with the apparel fit by body parts and brand choices gathered from studies on the skinny jeans consumption pattern among students in their 20s and on the results of the movement functionality and appearance sensory tests conducted on skinny jeans from six labels with the highest market share, popularity, and brand recognition, with the goal of developing skinny jeans for Korean women in their 20s.
