A Study on the Patterns of the Late 19th Century Funerals

As a ritual that deals with the issues of human life and death, and that embodies complicated cultural implications, funerals have been an important material to refer to in considering the spiritual life as well as the social aspects of contemporary people. The present study on the 19th-century Western funerals is significant in that current funerals have been formed and changed from the ancient practice in a long historical background. The funeral patterns in 1890 to 1910, the period when reformatory movements started to appear in the custom concerning death, have been changed and fixed to be the current funeral custom. The range of the present study is limited to the characteristics of enbalmment, funeral processions and ceremonies, as well as the costumes for the mourning period. The research method employed in the study is the review of literature concerning death and funeral rituals, previous studies, domestic and international technical literature, and photographs or paintings.
Effects of Hair Colors on the Optical Illusion of Body Types

The purpose of this study is to determine affects of hair colors on physical shapes and images through field survey and experimental research. For the purpose, this researcher surveyed 230 female college students residing in Busan about their dyed hair colors, and selected the subjects for the study. Then the researcher an experimental research on the subjects by suing test stimuli. Results of the study can be described as follows: Experiment of the Optical Illusion of Physical Shapes. For all items measured for the experiment, except four ones, if was found that hair colors provided significant efforts of optical illusion factor analysis, included horizontality, outlines of the body and face, a horizontal line of the shoulder, the length, verticality and a horizontal line of the face. According to hair colors, black made the body look slimmer and the face look apparent. White made the body height look low, the outline of the face look clear and the neck or shoulder look fleshed. Female college students whose hair color was orange looked unclear in the body silhouette, bright in the face and broad in the hip and shoulder. Other students whose hair color was red, attracting the line of vision upward most strongly, looked fleshed in the upper body and broad in the face. Finally, blue made the face look dark.
The Research on Strategy of Clothing Product for the Women of 20s in Peking of China

This study is intended to figure out marketing strategies of women clothing brands which are remarkably preferred and recognized among Chinese women in their twenties by analyzing and comparing the features of products between Chinese fashion brands and Korean brands. This study result is follow as: 1. As the result of women fashion brands in China, it became certain that the differentiation policy of each brand and the strategy of development design reflected the needs of Chinese consumers in 20s were preferred in Chinese fashion market. 2. As the result of comparing and analysing the strategy of Korean brands' clothing product entered China market, some of them reflected well Chinese women' inclination who are in their twenties. Therefore with the proper positioning and the strategy of actual place, those Korean brands are prominently preferred. However others can not be the leading brands because of supplying inharmonious basic-style product with the preference of Chinese women in 20s.
Hand-related Physical Properties and Luster Properties of Chitosan treated Cotton and Nylon Fabrics dyed with Natural Dyestuffs

Chitosan treatment of textile fabrics has been studied to improve fabric characteristics and functions. Natural dyestuffs have been more actively employed in environment-conscious finishing products. In this study, chitosan treated cotton and nylon fabrics were prepared for dyeing with a few natural dyestuffs. These were Caesalpina sappan, Gardenia jasminoides, and cochineal in the form of powder. Hand-related physical and mechanical properties and luster characteristics were examined using the KES-FB series instruments and a set of luster measuring equipment. The chitosan treatment seemed to be more effective in terms of increasing stiffness for cotton fabric. Since cotton fibers have more -OH groups in the molecules, they provide more linkage sites with the chitosan than the nylon 6 fibers do.

In the face of trade opportunity of Chinese reformation and opening and the future largest single market, global or multinational companies and Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Hong Kong's and Taiwan's companies will go all out to catch hold of one quotient. One trading war is about to start for funds, elitists, technique, and management in China now. It might be difficult to get profits in Chinese markets. However, risks can bring challenges, and competition can make progress. It's time to prepare for the challenges in the golden opportunity laid in front of us all.

Asia has the potential of becoming a center of power in fashion. Japan has worked hard to build images of beauty and serenity. The Chinese people already have enriched their business sense throughout history. China is considered as the next powerhouse of fashion. The Asian "mosaic" including Korea should be very colorful, deep, spiritual and beautiful. It is essential we upgrade and update the training and education of fashion leaders. It is possible to find a niche in a global market through maximizing our strength based upon a great and long history in manufacturing textiles.
Luster Properties of Polyester Micro-fiber Circular-Knitted Fabric and Fiber Luster Simulation

Textile scientists have regarded the material appearance of natural fibers, especially that of silk or wool fibers, as the benchmark for reinventing the look and feel of the long term, friendly companion of mankind. The appearances or textures of the materials surrounding us in everyday life have long been interesting topics to many people.from scholars to painters. Even the simplest questions may require careful pondering. Why is the silk fabric so lustrous with subtlety? Recently, appearance models have become increasingly important in textile products. They are needed to model and simulate different models. In this study, the optical characteristics of filament yarns and knitted fabrics were investigated using images taken at various angles and illumination conditions. Then the images were analyzed using some image analysis techniques, such as thresholding and measuring luster blobs. The anisotropic nature of the filamentous specimens was studied based on the images acquired at different incident illumination and observing angles with several alignment positions of the fabric specimens. A few cylindrical models were generated using commercially available software, Rhinoceros, and then on the models, a ray-tracing algorithm based on a software, POV-Ray, was applied to simulate the appearance or lustrous images of the monofilament models.
