A Study on the Implementation of the Wireless Sensor Network System on Shipboard

In this paper, a wireless sensor network system was embodied inside the shipping for digital ship. First, the analysis of radio environment inside ship are investigated. As a result, it was confirmed that a wireless sensor network system can be applied inside the ship. Using Shipboard Wireless Sensor Network System based on IEEE 802.15.4 technique, we designed, and made the prototype of Zigbee Node and RFID Reader. We could be sensing on shipboard and testing entrance of crew by using Zigbee Node and RFID Reader. The sensing and exit or entry control data are transmitted a server system through internet that connected Wireless Gateway with AP, so we can monitoring the saved data on shipboard database.
Study on reduction of power consumption in GPS embedded terminals with periodic position fix

This thesis is about the reduction of the power consumption in GPS embedded terminals with periodic position fix to improve the time delay of position determination. In order to improve time delay of position determination during the wireless terminal is powered on, it needs to be set such that it can be periodically recalibrated by the GPS and those recalibrated values need to be saved in the terminal's memory so that it can reduce the time delay from the request of location. By using the trace of the information that's been saved in the terminal's memory, it can be set so that it'll be easier to determine whether the wireless terminal has gone into buildings and have the capability of checking if it has gone into a specific building. Likewise, while the terminal is turned on, in order calibrate the location, it needs to continuously work the GPS engine which leads to a rapid decrease in terminal's idle time. This thesis proposes some solutions regarding these issues - reducing 20 ~ 30% of the battery consumption for GPS visible situation that can occur when the wireless terminal periodically calibrates its location to determine the in-building status, and extending the idle time of the terminal by flexibly using the suggested GPS calibration time method according to wireless terminal's mobility.
Predictive Resource Allocation Scheme based on ARMA model in Mobile Cellular Networks

There has been a lot of research done in scheme guaranteeing user's mobility and effective resources management to satisfy the requested by users in the wireless/mobile networks. In this paper, we propose a predictive resource allocation scheme based on ARMA(Auto Regressive Moving Average) prediction model to meet QoS requirements(handoff dropping rate) for guaranteeing users' mobility. The proposed scheme predicts the demanded amount of resource in the future time by ARMA time series prediction model, and then reserves it. The ARMA model can be used to take into account the correlation of future handoff resource demands with present and past handoff demands for provision of targeted handoff dropping rate. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing RCS(Reserved channel scheme) in terms of handoff connection dropping rate and resource utilization.
A Study on the Development Site Security for Embedded Software

Systematic components for implementing ubiquitous computing, for example, electronic devices, electric home appliances, and controllers, etc, are consist of not only circuits but also softwares expected to do some special system-controlling functions, and these softwares used to be called like as embedded software. Because embedded software is a core component controlling systems, the codes or control flows should be protected from being opened to the public or modified. Embedded software security can be divided into 2 parts: first is the unauthorized access to development site and embedded software, second is the unauthorized disclosure or modification. And this research is related to the first aspect of them.This paper proposes some security check requirements related to embedded software development site by analyzing the ALC_DVS.1 of the ISO/IEC 15408 and Base Practices (BPs) of the ISO/IEC 21827. By applying this research, we expect to protect unauthorized modification of embedded software indirectly.
Performance Analysis of WCDMA System with the Rake Receiver over Wireless Mobile Environment

In this paper presents the WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) system using the rake receiver over multipath fading and wireless mobile communication environments. The interference between the propagation paths in a multipath fading causes a serious degradation in the wireless mobile communication environments. In order to derive the path interference and reduce the fading effect the rake receiver is used. As a result, the WCDMA system using the rake receiver gives a better performance than the convention WCDMA system over a multipath fading and wireless mobile communication environments.
Throughput Performance of Hybrid ARQ Ultra-Wideband Communication System for Wireless Packet Transmission

An ultra-wideband signal is characterized by a radiated spectrum with wide bandwidth around a relatively low center frequency. In this paper, the bit error rate (BER), packet error rate (PER), and data throughput performance for an ultra-wideband system with M-ary correlation receiver are analyze in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and co-channel interference channel. To evaluate the performance of UWB system, a set of UWB communication waveform as pulse position modulated (PPM) signals consisting of more than one UWB pulse is used. The M-ary PPM signals are defined to be equally correlated in order to simplify the system performance analysis. The analysis for system performance shows that the wireless channel error significantly degrades throughput performance and can be effectively increased by hybrid ARQ scheme. Also, an attempt for comparing the data throughput of ultra-wideband system on different performance improvement schemes and parameters has been made. From the performance evaluation process, it is shown that the effects of wireless channel and hybrid ARQ scheme for ultra wideband M-ary PPM system can be evaluated by means of a suitable combination of the PER, throughput vs. signal-to-noise power ratio per bit.
A Study on the Network Throughput of Bluetooth Packet Communication System for Short Distance Wireless Connectivity

The Bluetooth technology represents an attractive approach to enable short distance wireless connectivity. The Bluetooth standard operates at the 2.4 GHz ISM band and offers the advantage of establishing ad hoc networks, called piconet and scatternet. The spread of Bluetooth implementation in consumer products opens up a new short range wireless networking applications. Bluetooth MAC avoids packet collision within a piconet by simple time multiplexing. But lack of synchronization among independent neighboring piconets introduces packet overlapping within a time slot. In this paper, the wireless network throughput of Bluetooth packet transmission system applying the pure-ALOHA and slotted-ALOHA MAC is investigated according to the impact of channel environment. From the obtained results, the throughput of the Bluetooth MAC protocol shown to offer good performance in wireless channel, and the results are useful for the implementation of Bluetooth networks.
Performance Analysis of HDR-WPAN System with Concatenated Space-Time Diversity Scheme

In this paper, we proposed two systems, STTC scheme and STBC-TCM scheme, to enhance the reliability of HDR-WPAN system and analyzed BER(bit error rate) performance of the proposed systems over the slow fading channel. The proposed systems had a diversity gain and coding gain without increasing an additional channel bandwidth. However, in terms of reliability, about 4dB improvement at BER=
was obtained by the STBC-TCM scheme. In addition, HDR-WPAN system with STBC-TCM scheme had a linear rise in system complexity of ML(maximum likelihood). From the results, STBC-TCM scheme was more appropriate to improve the reliability and channel efficiency and to reduce complexity of HDR-WPAN system.
Short-cut Routing Algorithm Using Neighbor Node List in Hierarchical Routing for 6LoWPAN

The HiLow, a hierarchical routing protocol for 6LoWPAN, needs smaller memory allocation and energy than other routing protocols. However, the HiLow has a weak point that does not provide the optimized routing path. In this paper, we propose the algorithm that can find the optimum next hop using neighboring nodes around the source node as well as hierarchical routing path information. We evaluate the performance of proposed algorithm using the computer simulation, and we can acquire results that decreases a number of hop count and transmitted message.
Design and Performance Evaluation of the QoS based Multimedia Services under Wibro Network Environment

Present TCP/IP networks have some service quality problems. They delay various kinds of traffic, while increased traffic bottle necks, a phenomena experienced by too many internet users. Therefore, as use of the network increases, building up a stable network service is needed. Thus, network managers desperately need the best, most effective traffic control and wide-band services. Until now there has been no other way of increasing wide-band use of lines, particularly because of the expenses a limit solutions of solving continuously to increasing traffic problems. This study suggests a problem solving method under the base of 802.16e(Wibro) which will be widely used in the future.
A Fault-Detection Agent for Distance Education on Home Network Environment

This paper explains the design and implementation of the FDA(Fault Detection Agent). FDA is a system that is suitable for detecting software error for multimedia distance education based on home network environment. This system consists of an ED, and ES. ED is an agent that detects an error by hooking techniques for multimedia distance education based on home network environment. ES is an agent that is an error sharing system for multimedia distance education based on home network environment. From the perspective of multimedia collaborative environment, an error application becomes another interactive presentation error is shared with participants engaged in a cooperative work. Performance analysis is done by Comparison of Hooking with Snatching Method.

In this paper we implemented the Real Time Contrast Enhancer for image quality enhancement of moving picture. Also we proposed adaptive contrast control method that use mean and variance of input video signal. The Designed the contrast Enhancer is measured in comparison with conventional pictures and interfaced to 30inch TFT LCD TV.
A Study on Invisibility Improvement of Watermarking Image

The use of digital imaging technique and digital contents based on internet has grown rapidly for last several years, and the needs of digital image protection become more important. For the purpose of copyright protection on digital image, the verification of authentication techniques like content authentication, ownership authentication, illegal copy and etc are needed. Digital watermarking, the invisible encryption technique to insert digital watermark into image, the sophisticated perceptual information should be used for providing transparency and robustness of images on watermarking process. In this paper, we implement the digital watermarking algorithm for preventing forged attack, ownership protection and authentication by transforming the wavelet algorithms in frequency domain in terms of human visual system.
Electronic Credit Card Processing Methods for Contactless Toll Collection

This paper proposes Electronic Credit Card(EMV) processing procedures for a credit payment method which can be applied to Korean ETCS(Electrical Toll Collection System). In Korea, Korea Highway Corporation services contactless ETCS's called by Hi-Pass and Touch-Pass system at present. These systems operate on a pre-paid payment method similar to electronic money. On the other side, a credit payment method based on credit card has an advantage which does not require pre-paid. The introduction of credit payment method to ETCS is in preparation. In this paper, we propose EMV processing methods based on a credit payment method which can be applied on ETCS.
Effective Recognition of Land Registration Map Using Fuzzy Inference

This paper addressed a recognition method of land registration map based on fuzzy inference scheme, which is able to solve the time complexity problem of typical method [Fig. 2]. Not only line color, thickness but also number, character are used as a fuzzy input parameter. It concentrated on generation of fuzzy association map, and useful informations are extracted result from fuzzy inference. These results are precedent process for estimating the construction space and restoring 3D automatic modeling. It can also utilize to the internet service acceleration propulsion business such as u-Gov based land registration service.
