Malfunction of satellite launch vehicles with high speed and long range can be a major concern for operations. Flight safety system that monitor the trajectory and identify any failure of the launch vehicles. Tracking filters for the flight safety systems are different from common tracking filters since filter reliability is more emphasized than accuracy. Reliable estimation of instantaneous impact points requires reliable velocity estimates as well as reliable position estimates. A fusion filter for a flight safety system was developed with the tracking sensor models for the Korea Satellite Launch Vehicle I. The fusion filter performances were evaluated by analyzing the trajectory and instantaneous impact point estimates.

Lee, Seong-Real ;
The Journal of Advanced Navigation Technology, volume 12, issue 4, 2008, Pages 311~316
A configuration scheme of optical link effectively compensating chromatic dispersion and nonlinear effects accumulated in optical link with single mode fibers (SMFs) is proposed. The proposed optical link configuration consist of optical phase conjugator (OPC) placed at middle of total transmission length and inline dispersion management (DM) as a role of compensating cumulated in each optical repeater of SMF by dispersion compensating fiber (DCF). Net residual dispersion (NRD) of this optical link is designed to be controlled through precompensation and postcompensating. The precompensation and postcompensation are designed to be determined by DCF after transmitter and before receiver, respectively. It is confirmed that optical link configuration with symmetric dispersion map with respect to OPC, which is implemented by controlling NRD through both precompensation and postcompensation, is better to be effective and adaptive than other configuration with NRD controlled by only precompensation or postcompensation.

In this paper, we developed the crops monitoring system using wireless sensor networks. It can acquire the information about the cultivation environments from a temperature, humidity, illumination and soil sensor then use the detailed information for very useful. The acquisition about the cultivation environment information with wireless sensor networks can be made up an environment that an administrator is able to confirm the information and wherever in a remote place instead of conventional way visiting the cultivate place by investing a lot of money and time. Therefore, it could be saving money, time and effort, and reduced the damages from the natural disasters such as a cold-weather damage and drought. In addition, we could be possible preventing from the damages of blight and harmful insects according to the temperature by an analysis. In agriculture field, this system could be supported for making a foundation of the advanced technology developing endless, and, in IT field, it is look forward to preparing the opportunity which creates a new requirement on the new technology.

Lee, Jun-Kyoung ; Yang, Jang-Hoon ; Kim, Dong-Ku ;
The Journal of Advanced Navigation Technology, volume 12, issue 4, 2008, Pages 332~340
In this paper, comparisons of the superimposition schemes for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system are made. The time domain superimposition of data (TDSD) has a tradeoff between the degree of freedom for data transmission and inter-carrier interference (ICI). While SPPT and APSB experiences the increases of interference as the transmit data rate increases, TDSD can effectively improve spectral efficiency by exploiting preprocessing structures which prevents interference between the signals in the different domain. TDSD which we proposed is compared with the conventional superimposition schemes or OFDM, such as SPPT (the superimposed periodic pilot in the time domain) and APSB (the added pilot semi-blind channel estimation) by simulation. As the result, comparing the conventional OFDM, TDSD can increase the spectral efficiency up to about 20% with the superimposition factor M=16 while SPPT has the similar efficiency. APSB has the worst efficiency.

The recent networks are trending toward wireless networks. So wireless internet used to service of wired networks. But wireless networks can't show same performance of wired networks. Therefore, we are must concerned about Routing Protocol for improvement of a weak point of physical feature. But many researchers are not focusing on developing Routing Protocol. In this paper, we improve on AODV(Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector) for Wireless Mesh Networks. And it analyzed the result of simulation.
Concurrency Control for Mobile Transactions consisted mainly of Update Operations in Broadcast Environments
Kim, Chi-Yeon ; Jung, Min-A ;
The Journal of Advanced Navigation Technology, volume 12, issue 4, 2008, Pages 357~365
Broadcast is a efficient interactive method between a server and mobile clients via wireless channel and broadcast environments are incarnating as various applications. Most studies have been proposed in broadcast environments deal with read-only mobile transactions, many applications are emerging recently that need to manage the update transactions at mobile clients. So we propose a concurrency control for mobile transactions consisted mainly of update operations in broadcast environments. As an optimistic approach is applied for scheduling update transactions, repetitive aborts of update transactions are occur due to conflict between transactions. To solve this problem update transactions must have been executed with distributed manner, but unnecessary aborts are occur as well because of continuous restart. Thus, in this paper we propose a method that transactions are executed distributed manner and can avoid unnecessary aborts of update transactions. Proposed method has no unnecessary uplink and can save resources of mobile client.

Park, Sun ;
The Journal of Advanced Navigation Technology, volume 12, issue 4, 2008, Pages 372~377
This paper proposes a new query-based document summarization method using the semantic feature matrix and the semantic variable matrix. The proposed method doesn't need the training phase using training data comprising queries and query specific documents. And it exactly summarizes documents for the given query by using semantic features and semantic variables that is better at identifying sub-topics of document. Because the NMF have a great power to naturally extract semantic features representing the inherent structure of a document. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves better performance than other methods.

The Journal of Advanced Navigation Technology, volume 12, issue 4, 2008, Pages 378~383
This paper presents a method of image analysis based on discrete cosine transform (DCT) and fuzzy inference(Fl). It concentrated not only on the design of fuzzy inference algorithm but also on incorporating human visual parameter(HVP) into transform coefficients. In the first, HVP such as entropy, texture degree are calculated from the coefficients matrix of DCT. Secondly, using these parameters, fuzzy input variables are generated. Mamdani's operator as well as
-cut function are involved to simulate the proposed approach, and consequently, experimental results are presented to testify the performance and applicability of the proposed scheme.
