This paper shows the research about the development of software receiving platform processing GPS/Galileo L1/E1/E5a signal. Various researches for new GNSS signal character are possible using software receiving platform by facile program code modification. In addition, the program that processes GPS and Galileo signal integration is expected to help developing integration of receiver algorithm that deal with new various GNSS signal. In this paper, it is introduced the structure of GPS/Galileo receiving platform using sampled IF data as a program input. The function of the software platform embodied using MATLAB tool is tested by live data from Galileo test satellites. The software platform is modulated according to their roll and function. Each module is able to use selective function on GNSS signal.
A Study on the Implementation and Performance Analysis of Software Based GPS L1 and Galileo E1/E5a Signal Processing

In this paper, the key technologies of Navigation receiver for GNSS sensor station are presented as a development result of a GNSS ground station in ETRI. A wide-band antenna and RF/IF components and SW signal processing unit to cover the GPS and Galileo signals for GNSS receiver are developed and its performance is verified by using GPS live signal and GNSS RF signal simulator from SpirentTM. We also gather GIOVE-A signal by using H/W antenna and RF/IF units in IF-level as sampling frequency and bit number, 112MHz and 8bits, respectively by using the developed wide-band antenna and RF/IF components. Data acquisition is done by using commercial data acquisition device from National Instrument TM. The gathered data is fed into SW receiver to process Galileo E1 to verify Galileo signal processing by Galileo live signal from GIOVE-A.
Modeling & Performance Analysis of the MAC Protocol for VDL in the Aeronautical Mobile Communication System

This paper analysis the STDMA protocol in aviation wireless data communications and carry out the performance analysis with simulation. The STDMA protocol that is currently being used in VDL Mode-4 has TDMA system characteristics, which provides time-division into several slots per one frame. The results of modeled STDMA protocol's data channel analysis show approximate 0.7 channel throughput at the transmission probabilities 0.045, 0.2, and 0.3 in the aspects of channel throughput. The delay time are 2.32434sec, 2.0293sec, and 2.12128sec respectively. These results shows the good stability in spite of variable transmission probabilities. Consequently, it is expected that STDMA protocol would be used properly for domestic communication demands and supervision system improvement by means of applying this to point-to-point communication and data/location broadcasting as a fundamental technology in CNS/ATM.
Burst Mode Symbol Timing Recovery for VDL Mode-2

In this paper, we proposed a burst mode symbol timing recovery unit that is applicable to the VDL Mode-2 using D8PSK modulation. A method that IIR loop filter is used to minimize symbol timing error is hard to apply to burst mode because its convergence time is long. That is, the fast convergence property is important. In this paper, the proposed method takes one sample which has maximum symbol power after the initial synchronization has been achieved by using preambles. The main principle of operation is that the unit moves one sample clock to advance or retard according to symbol power. We verify that the proposed method is operated well in
ppm or greater through the test results between Australia ADS Corp. transmitter and the designed receiver.
Analysis of Interference Effect Between Geostationary Orbit Link and Non-Geostationary Orbit Link

In this paper, interference effect given from non-geostationary orbit link into geostationary orbit link is analyzed by BER performance. To analyze the interference effect with the angle between satellites, the angular separation is changed from
, and the number of the satellite is also changed from 1 to 4 for analyzing it. From the results, the interference effect into the geostationary orbit service from non-geostationary orbit link is more increased according to the angular separation that is decreased. Especially, the small angle gives more interference effects to the geostationary orbit link. Furthermore, more number of interfering satellites gives more interference effect to the geostationary orbit link. However, the angle between the interference orbit and geostationary orbit gives more effect to the system performance then the number of the interference orbit.
QualNet based Linked Simulation Method for WAVE Physical Layer

In this paper, we studied an efficient inter-working method in which QualNet network simulator can import WAVE channel model and physical layer simulation module pre-designed by Matlab tool. At first, we investigated physical layer and communication medium simply designed in QualNet, then we suggested practical method for QualNet network simulator to adopt different type of physical layer simulation module in which detailed multi-path fading channel model and IEEE802.11p communication modem are designed. This work should be applied to linked simulation between upper layer and lower physical layer for total simulation from higher layer to lower physical layer related to next generation DSRC/WAVE specification.
Variable Bias Techniques for High Efficiency Power Amplifier Design

This paper shows some variable bias techniques which can improve the power added efficiency(PAE) for the designed power amplifier. Some simulations have been done to get the effect of the bias change, and variable bias is adopted to get the higher efficiency for dual mode amplifier which generates two different output power levels. With drain bias change and a fixed gate bias, the amplifier shows PAE improvement compared to the fixed bias amplifier. In addition, this paper analyzed nonlinear distortion of the power amplifier and has used the digital predistortion which can result in 10dB ACPR improvement for the dual band amplifier.

Performance Comparison of Call Admission Control Based on Predictive Resource Reservations in Wireless Networks

This paper evaluates the performance of three methods for predicting resources requested by mobile's calls and a call admission algorithm based on these predicting methods respectively in wireless networks. The first method is based on Wiener prediction model and the second method is based on the MMOSPRED algorithm and the third method is based on the neural network. The proposed call admission algorithm is based on prioritized handoff call in resource allocation. The resources for future handoff calls are therefore predicted and reserved in advance, and then new calls are admitted as long as the remaining resources are sufficient. We compare their performances in terms of prediction error, new call blocking and handoff dropping probabilities by simulation. Results show that the CAC based on Wiener prediction model performs favorably due to exact resources prediction.
High Resolution Cyclostationary Spectrum Sensing for ATSC Signal Detection

In this paper, we consider a cyclostationary-feature-detection based spectrum sensing algorithm for ATSC signal detection. One of the proposed algorithms for IEEE 802.22 standardization organization which meet the requirements of IEEE 802.22 is Thomson's algorithm based on cyclostationary feature detection. We propose an interpolation-based spectrum sensing algorithm for ATSC signal detection, which has less computation complexity than that of Thomson's algorithm and provides no performance loss compared to Thomson's algorithm. By using zero-padding in time domain and effective sensing scanning method, the proposed algorithm requires less computational complexity and shows no performance degradation compared to Thomson's algorithm.
Simplified MMSE Detection with SoIC for Iterative Receivers in Multiple Antenna Systems

Simplified minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection technique combined with soft interference cancellation(SoIC) is proposed for iterative receivers in multiple antenna systems. To avoid repeated matrix inversions required to obtain the MMSE filter coefficients during the iteration between the soft detector and decoder, simplified matrix inversion techniques are applied to calculate the filter coefficient matrix. Simulation results show that the proposed MMSE detections with SoIC indicate a comparable or slightly degraded detection performance while achieving a significantly reduced complexity as compared to the conventional MMSE detection with SoIC.

In this paper, we study the design and implementation of an auto recognition system by using wireless sensor node. RFID system has a limited communication range and communication network is damaged, it is impossible to communicate. Therefore, easy installation and low cost wireless system are required in an area where the installation of communication between RFID system and monitoring system is difficult, or a portable RFID system is installed. The auto recognition system in this study is implemented by the combination of 13.56MHz RFID system using MLX12115 RFID chip of Melexis company and wireless sensor node system using CC2420 Zigbee chip of Chipcon company. As a result, we develop an auto recognition system which makes it possible to get tag's information wirelessly. Also, it has a simple circuit structure and is small in size.
Attenuator using Lossy Left-Handed Transmission Line and Vector Modulator Application

This paper proposes a design of attenuator based on meta-material structure and its application. The unit-cell attenuator based on the lossy transmission line consists of the CRLH(Composite Right/Left Handed) transmission line and PIN diodes to be controlled internal loss according to diode bias voltage to change resistance of diode. Also, to reduce the initial losses, there is used parallel connection of PIN diodes. To increase attenuations, it is connected a cascade unit-cell of attenuator with periodic structure. The attenuation quantities of unit-cell are about 10dB and phase variations are 15o maximum at 1.5 GHz ~ 2.5 GHz. Also, its application is represented a vector modulator.

In this paper, we study the method of noise analysis for analysing TDMA noise in a GSM mobile phone and describe the cause of TDMA noise. And we reduced noise by 9dB, 3.5dB, 6dB, using MIC shielding, equipped bead or capacitance, connected PCB ground based on the difference analysis method, which is one of common noise analysis methods.
A Study on the Development of Wafer Notch Aligner

This study aims to develop a system that enables 20 to 25 wafers to be automatically aligned at the position of the corresponding serial number and facilitates the checkout of wafer processing by sensing them before and after semiconductor processing. It also suggests compensation algorithm and stepper motor control algorithm that carefully align notches. This study minimizes the rate of occurrence by adopting materials of which the surface has proper coefficient of friction when wafers are rotating and that do not rarely produce particles. This study completed the development of a slip resistance apparatus and carried out performance tests through mathematical verification. This system is expected to improve semiconductor yield due to anti-pollution technology in semiconductor processing and can be selectively applied to a large size wafer over 450mm in the future.
Automatic e-mail Hierarchy Classification using Dynamic Category Hierarchy and Principal Component Analysis

The amount of incoming e-mails is increasing rapidly due to the wide usage of Internet. Therefore, it is more required to classify incoming e-mails efficiently and accurately. Currently, the e-mail classification techniques are focused on two way classification to filter spam mails from normal ones based mainly on Bayesian and Rule. The clustering method has been used for the multi-way classification of e-mails. But it has a disadvantage of low accuracy of classification and no category labels. The classification methods have a disadvantage of training and setting of category labels by user. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-way e-mail hierarchy classification method that uses PCA for automatic category generation and dynamic category hierarchy for high accuracy of classification. It classifies a huge amount of incoming e-mails automatically, efficiently, and accurately.
A Design of SCORM based on Learning Contents Interconnection Framework for U-Learning

Recently, the application of E-learning is changing the method that is able to process the learning to learner more efficiently and conveniently. For this purpose, the application research of U-learning that is able to support the learning using mobile device such as PDA, NetBook, Tablet PC and so on is actively processing. But lots of U-learning framework is only considering the change to fit the exist learning contents the mobile device without SCORM that is able to support to make and process the learning contents by regular forms. In this paper, we proposed the learning contents interconnection of U-learning framework considering SCORM. For this purpose, we have to construct the learning by learning object and asset within SCORM. And this method can support learning information that was reconstructed it by learning contents to fit the mobile device as used the mobile device meta-data.
A Study on Protection Technology Criteria for Preventing Contents Abuse on On-line

Due to fast development of communications, knowledge and information have been become digitalized and distributed actively. However, the misuse and abuse of digital properties and security problems frequently take place. In this paper, we analyze the cases of the misuse and abuse of contents and the contents protection technology. We propose important items for protection technology to prevent contents from misuse and abuse based on results of the analyses. These important items are expected to be used as important factors for establishing protection technology standards.
A License Audit Model for Secure DRM System in Home Network Environment

Digital home devices aims at providing the multimedia service which is not limited at time and space in home network environment. However, it is incapable of the fair use of consumers who legally buys contents, and causes damage to the contents providers owing to the indiscriminate distribution and use of illegal contents. DRM system appeared to solve this problem cannot protect the license stored on digital home devices and manage license by redistribution. This paper proposes a license audit model which makes an inspection of illegal access, modification and redistribution and reports alert logs to server.
Prototype Design of Medicine Information System to check medicinal misusing

Recently, the Korean Pharmaceutical Association has a public service advertisements for medicinal misusing prevention and environment protection by medicinal substances. And the cost and procedure complexity was increased by specialization of dispensary and medical practice. To overcome this situation, we felt the need of a medicine information system. Ubiquitous and convergence technology have become trends in the IT field. In this research, we designed prototype of medicine information system for management and prevention of medicinal misusing using IT technologies.
Fragile Watermarking for Image Authentication and Detecting Image Modification

Digital watermarking is a technique to insert a visually imperceptible information into an image so that the information can be extracted for the purposes of ownership verification or authentication. And watermarking techniques can be classified as either fragile or robust. Robust watermarks are useful for copyright and ownership assertion purposes. They cannot be easily removed and should resist common image manipulation procedures such as rotation, scaling, cropping, etc. On the other hand, fragile watermarks are easily corrupted by any image processing procedure, it can detect any change to an image as well as localizing the areas that have been changed. In this paper, we propose a fragile watermarking algorithm using a special hierarchical structure for integrity verification of image and detection of manipulated location. In the proposed method, the image to be watermarked is divided into blocks in a multi-level hierarchy and calculating block digital signatures in this hierarchy. The proposed method thwarts the cut-and-paste attack and the experimental results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
