Design of Single/Multiband Impulse Generator Using SRD for UWB(Ultra Wideband) Technique

In this paper, an impulse generator for UWB(Ultra Wide-band) technique with great possibility to be adopted as a next generation indoor WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) has been designed by using SRD(Step Recovery Diode). Design goal is to design an impulse generator with simple structure, low cost, small size, and high performance. The impulse generator satisfied by FCC's regulation ( frequency range: 3.1~10.6 GHz, limit of power level: -41.25 dBm ) has been simulated by using ADS(Advanced Design System) which is the trade name of the Agilent Technologies. The output power of the impulse generator has been explained separately for single and multi band purposes, respectively.
Measurement Algorithm of Vehicle Speed Using Real-Time Image Processing

These studies developed system as well as its algorithm which can measure traffic flow and vehicle speed on the highway as well as road by using industrial television(ITV) system. This algorithm used the real time processing of dynamic images. The processing algorithm of dynamic images is developed and proved its validity by frame grabber. Frame grabber can process the information of a small number of sample points only instead of the whole pixel of the images. In the techniques of this algorithm, we made approximate contour of vehicle by allocating sampling points in cross-direction of image, and recognized top of contour of vehicle. Applying these technique, we measured the number of passing vehicles of one lane as well as multilane. Speed of each vehicle is measured by computing the time difference between a pair of sample points on two sample points lines.
A Study On the Design of a Servo Controller for a Tracking Antenna System between Moving Vehicles by the Fuzzy-PID Controller

For continuous communication between moving vehicles such as satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles, an antenna system having at least more than 2-axes is needed. When the antenna is mounted on a moving vehicle such as ground vehicle, ship and so on, a stabilization and tracking system must be equipped to compensate the roll, pitch and yaw motion of the vehicle. The performance of stabilization and tracking system mainly depends on the servo control system that driving the antenna pedestal. Therefore, in this paper, a Fuzzy-PID controller for a stabilization and tracking system of a 2-axes antenna was designed and the performance was verified. To verify the verification of designed servo control system, the performance of the conventional PID controller and that of the Fuzzy-PID controller, designed by the same PID control gains, was compared.
UAV Auto Pilot System Development with GPS & Infrared Heat sensor

In this paper, we developed the algorithm to control longitudinal and lateral motion of UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) with Infrared heat sensors and GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver. UAV was controlled to be flown horizontally and also turned coordinately maintaining the constant altitude. Accomplishing the flight test of UAV sevral times, we were able to develope low price controller to control bank angle for lateral motion, and also pitch angle and altitude for longitudinal motion simultaneously.
Design of PI-type Fuzzy Logic Controller for a Turbojet Engine of Unmanned Aircraft

In this paper we propose a turbojet engine controller of unmanned aircraft based on the Fuzzy-PI algorithm. To prevent any surge or a flame out event during the engine acceleration or deceleration, the PI-type fuzzy controller effectively controls the fuel flow input of the control system. The fuzzy inference rule made by the logarithm function of acceleration error improves the tracking error. Computer simulations applied to the linear model of a turbojet engine show that the proposed method has good tracking performance for the reference acceleration and deceleration commands.
Comparison of Channel Estimation Schemes for Digital Broadcasting System in a Mobile Environment

In this paper, the performances of various channel estimation schemes for DVB-H system are investigated. The linear interpolation, the second order interpolation, the cubic spline interpolation, and the time-domain interpolation, which are used in frequency domain, are chosen as the channel estimation schemes. Moving Object Tracking Using MHI and M-bin Histogram

In this paper, we propose an efficient moving object tracking technique for multi-camera surveillance system. Color CCD cameras used in this system are network cameras with their own IP addresses. Input image is transmitted to the media server through wireless connection among server, bridge, and Access Point (AP). The tracking system sends the received images through the network to the tracking module, and it tracks moving objects in real-time using color matching method. We compose two sets of cameras, and when the object is out of field of view (FOV), we accomplish hand-over to be able to continue tracking the object. When hand-over is performed, we use MHI(Motion History Information) based on color information and M-bin histogram for an exact tracking. By utilizing MHI, we can calculate direction and velocity of the object, and those information helps to predict next location of the object. Therefore, we obtain a better result in speed and stability than using template matching based on only M-bin histogram, and we verified this result by an experiment.
Modified Gaussian Approximation for Multiple Access Interference of UWB-TH system with BPSK

To calculate the probability of bit error of UWB communication systems, the exact expression of multiple access interference is essential. So far, in many researches, MAI has been modeled by the Gaussian Approximation, which leads to the huge errors. And there are some tries to obtain the exact model fot the MAI but they have some problems such as long calculation time. We introduce the simple expression to calculate the probability of error of an UWB-TH system with BPSK. The multiple access interference is explained by the characteristic function method combined with the Gaussian approximation. It allows us to easily and fast calculate the bit error rate of an UWB-TH system.
Design and implementation of real-time TCP

TCP and UDP is a transport layer protocol of Internet. TCP is a connection oriented protocol which supports a reliable data transfer by offering error and flow control, but it bring a transmission delay. On the other hand, the UDP is a connectionless protocol which does not carry out error and flow control, but it guarantees a realtime transmission. There are hardly any protocols which supports not only realtime functions but also data reliability. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a new TCP mode option which supports reliable realtime transmission. Our designed TCP performs an error recovery process during a fixed amount of time. This time is negotiated during the connection establishment phase. Our designed TCP is tested in real environments, and we find that it is relatively faster than the standard TCP and more reliable than the UDP. It can be used for the reliable transfer of realtime multimedia data.
A Study on Cell Planning for High-Speed Portable Internet

Nowadays, the demand of HPI(High-speed Portable Internet) has been gradually increased to support the various services of high speed wire line internet such as xDS. HPI can support high speed internet in anyplace, anytime. For successful development of HPI, the performance should be evaluated according to the cell size and/or the number of users and cell design should be carried out based on these criteria. The previous cellular systems using CDMA technique focus on the establishment of link based on power control but HPI systems consider the QoS (Quality of Service) and its performance based on the scheduling technique. The results from the system level simulation show that the throughput is sensitive to the cell size and the number of users has little impact on it. Moreover, the variation of service delay is more sensitive to the number of users but less to the cell size.
