Signal Analysis Software for DGPS Station

In this research, algorithm and software for the medium frequency signal analysis of DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) station were developed. Based on new MF(Medium Frequency) algorithm, the software of NDGPS(National DGPS) signal analysis was developed for coverage analysis. Predicted MF propagation data from this software was compared to the measurement data for the verification of a developed MF algorithm. GIS(Geographic Information System) techniques including digital map with elevation data were used because MF propagation is closely related to ground conductivity, mountains, building intensity.
Two-dimensional Unsteady Thermal Stresses in a partially heated infinite FGM Plate

A Green's function approach based on the laminate theory is adopted for solving the two-dimensional unsteady temperature field and the associated thermal stresses in an infinite plate made of functionally graded material (FGM). All material properties are assumed to depend only on the coordinate x (perpendicular to the surface). The unsteady heat conduction equation is formulated into an eigenvalue problem by making use of the eigenfunction expansion theory and the laminate theory. The eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions obtained by solving an eigenvalue problem for each layer constitute the Green's function solution for analyzing the two-dimensional unsteady temperature. The associated thermoelastic field is analyzed by making use of the thermal stress function. Numerical analysis for a FGM plate is carried out and effects of material properties on unsteady thermoelastic behaviors are discussed.
Comparison of Ionospheric Spatial Gradient Estimation Methods using GNSS

The high ionospheric spatial gradient during ionospheric storm is the most concern when applying GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) augmentation systems for aircraft precision approach. Since the ionospheric gradient level depends on geographical location as well as the storm, understanding the ionospheric gradient statistics over a specific regional area is necessary for operating the augmentation systems. This paper compares three ionosphere gradient computation methods, direct differentiation between two receivers' ionospheric delay signal for a common satellite, derivation from a grid ionosphere map, and derivation from a plate ionosphere map. The plate map method provides a good indication on the gradient variation behavior over a regional area with limited number of GNSS receivers. The residual analysis for the ionosphere storm detection is discussed as well.
A Study on Benefits of Ground Operational Test using ADS-B in Tae-An Airport

The ADS-B test is a program that is examining the use of ADS-B, especially CDTI for aircraft surveillance in Korea. The ADS-B project is to provide operational benefits to Air Traffic Controllers in the selected area and provide first operational experience of ADS-B in ATCS environment of South Korea. For these objectives, the ground station has installed in Tae-An airport, Participation in the Ground Test has been limited to 4 Aircraft of Hanseo University which are installed ADS-B equipment. Ground test is a test that is examining on the movement area of Tae-An Airport on the assumption that the visibility is below weather minia of the airport. This test have been experimented as pre-arranged scenarios. In view of the results achieved, it has shown that the volume of voice communication between controller and pilot are remarkably reduced. Additionally, as both pilots and air traffic controllers are able to see the positions of traffic in the vicinity of the aircraft, the test has demonstrated that it is possible for ADS-B not only to decline the controller's workload, but also to enhance pilot situational awareness in the near future.
New pattern of air market according to liberalization air transport between Korea and China

Air Transportation industry becomes more competitive that the restriction on new access to market were eased and relaxed. Liberalization of international air transport will continue, via bilateral and multilateral process. Korea, Japan, and China have expanded enormously the economic trade and cultural exchange bilaterally in the Northeast Asia, they are acknowledging the importance and necessity of improved connection, it order to face effectively other regional blocks of US-Canada, NAFTA, ASEAN, CLMV. In particular, nobody denies that it is urgent to liberalize bilaterally the air transport in Northeast Asia for promoting reciprocal benefits and prosperity. Recently while open skies bilateral agreements was signed between Korea-China in June, 2006. The agreements processes are too heavily influenced by flag carriers; leading to capacity/market sharing between the bilateral carriers in most markets, against the interest of consumers and overall economic interest of the nation. For successful operation of Northeast Air Market, it is need to set up development strategy paradigm by creating cross-border sub-regional (Northeast Asian) open skies bloc as well as preparing and creating of LCCs operations.
Analysis of the Economic Disaster Scale for Fog Case occurred at the Incheon International Airport

Poor visibility is very important information in aviation meteorology factor, because secure safety, trust and economical efficiency increase for aircraft movements. The Incheon International Airport 4 years recent times was to period aircraft movements delay and cancellation due to meteorology is 52% and 30%. And then fog is 63% and 43% in meteorology factor. Therefore, the analysis against the economic loss size of an airline due to the fog is necessary. This study is indirectly estimated economic disaster scale of flight return and cancellation due to the fog in the Incheon International Airport from 5 to 6 March 2006. This is based on an aviation operational statistics data and meteorology observation data. Result of estimated, total 14 flights return to Gimpo, Jeju and Gimhae in this period are about 208,205,700 won. And estimated total 10 flights cancellation are about 718,657,000 won.
