Dynamic Load Analysis of Aircraft Landing Gear

Role of landing gear is to absorb energy which is generated by aircraft ground maneuvering and landing. Generally, in order to absorb the impact energy, oleo-pneumatic type shock absorber is used in aircraft landing gear. Oleo-pneumatic type shock absorber has a good energy absorption efficiency and is light in weight because structure of oleo-pneumatic type shock strut is relatively simple. In this study, dynamic load analysis for swinging arm type landing gear was performed to predict landing loads. Modeling of landing gear was conducted with MSC.ADAMS, and dynamic landing loads were analyzed based on ADS-29. Optimum landing loads were generated through adjustment of damping orifice and the analysis results were presented with various aircraft attitude.

A Study on Prevention as result of Controlled-Flight-Into-Terrain Accident - Focusing on Guam accident, Mokpo accident, Gimhae accident

The purpose of this study is leading to prevent the major causes of commercial-aviation fatalities about controlled-flight-into-terrain(CFIT) in approach-and-landing accidents. The paper of major analysis for controlled flight into terrain(CFIT) was Guam accident, Mokpo accident and Gimhae accident in commercial transport-aircraft accidents from 1993 through 2002. CFIT occurs when an airworthy aircraft under the control of the flight crew is flown unintentionally into terrain, obstacles or water, usually with no prior awareness by the crew. This type of accident can occur during most phases of flight, but CFIT is more common during the approach-and-landing phase. Ninety-five percent of the Guam accident, Mokpo accident, and Gimhae accident where weather was known involved IMC, fog, and rain. The paper believed that prevention for CFIT accident was education and training for flying crew and upgrade for equipment such as EGPWS, and need more research for professional organizations of airlines, and accomplishing precision approaches should be a high priority.
Aircraft Survivability and Sensors Alignment Techniques

The vulnerability of aircraft, especially rotary wing aircraft, has been an ongoing issue since their advent in combat operations during the 1940s. In this paper, representative sensors for survivability of those aircraft in modern battlefield are surveyed and top level requirements and parameters are defined. Also problems of multi-sensor alignment on modern agile and flexible platform are discussed and several techniques such as static alignment and transfer alignment are introduced.
The Effect of Personality Traits on Emotional Exhaustion among Flight Attendants

This study examines hypotheses that four personality traits(extroversion, emotional stability, openness to experience, and agreeableness) have effect on emotional exhaustion among flight attendants. Questionnaires were collected from 344 flight attendants working for two airlines in Korea. From the hierarchical regression analysis, this research could find out some results such as follows. First, extroversion, emotional stability, and agreeableness, with the exception of openness to experience, decrease the level of emotional exhaustion. Second, according to the results of these analyses organizations should consider employee's personality fitting to job in selection process.
A Study on the Future Air Traffic Demand in Busan Metropolitan Area

Since the 90's, Korean Air transport market has been more expanded because of economic growth, the construction of airport infrastructure, and the advent of low cost carrier. Especially, the air traffic demand in Busan metropolitan area has been increasing steadily. Therefore, in this paper, we developed a new forecasting model which could expect the future air traffic demand in Busan area. This model is developed by regression analysis using social-economic variables such as GRDP, income, and the number of people, and dummy variables, for instance, KTX opening, Japan economic depression, SARS and so on. Result from demand forecasting by this new model suggests that the new airport system is needed in order to sustain the increasing air traffic demand in Busan area.
