Conceptual Design Method and Program Development Study on Compound Gyroplane with Rotor and Wing

A design study has been performed to obtain configuration and weight of a compound gyroplane. A study of research trends and characteristics was performed to develop the compound gyroplane sizing program. Based on these results, the sizing program has been developed and its suitability has been validated using existing compound gyroplane data. The subject air vehicles was a Challis Heliplane UAV, Carter Coptet, FB-1 Gyrodyne, and Jet Gyrodyne. As results, the program was suitable to size a compound gyroplane at conceptual design phase, because the greatest error rate was less than 10% and the conceptual design allowance error rate is less than 15%.
Air Surveillance Using Mode-S Multilateration

Surveillance is an enabler of safety with respect to aircraft separation and as a consequence capacity and efficiency with respect to aircraft operations. The new emerging technology among modern civil aviation surveillance is Multilateration (MLAT) which would affect on the surveillance capacity with both side of surveillance signal and operational properties. Multilateration system is needed to receive the signal which must reach at least 3 ground receivers simultaneously and has the effect that will have on with the ultimate accuracy. In this paper, the principle and the system configuration are reviewed. And its benefit of development is considered with use in situations where it is difficult to locate tranditional radar. This MLAT requires no additional avionics equipment to supply service with more accurate and less expensive. And it is able to enhance performance that meets international standards and extend the investment of air navigation service providers with reducing environmental impact by utilizing a small footprint on existing structures. Finally, it can be added to meet a wide range of coverage requirements and future surveillance needs.
A precise parameter estimation of an air vehicle without a priori information

This paper deals with the precise parameter estimation of an air vehicle without a priori information. First, Recursive Least Squares technique, which is an equation error method and does not require any a priori information, is applied and then the extended Kalman filter is used to tune parameters more precisely. To show the performance, a nonlinear longitudinal missile model is simulated and the parameters are estimated. The results show that this consecutive application of the techniques gives a very good estimation performance.
A Study on Conflict Detection and Resolution for Aircraft Separation Assurance in a Free Flight Environment

The goal for the CD&R system is to predict that a conflict is going to occur in the future, communicate the detected conflict to a human operator, and, in some cases, assist in the resolution of the conflict situation. To provide insight into different methods of conflict detection and resolution, a literature review of previous research models and current developmental and operational systems was performed. This paper focuses only on the specific attributes of each model, not on the depth to which a model has been analyzed, validated, or accepted. Thus, care should be taken to remember that a model that seems to be simple according to our categorization scheme may be significantly more viable than an apparently sophisticated model.
A Study on Risk Frequency Estimation of Runway End Safety Area

'Aviation Safety' is the state in which the risk of harm to persons or of property damage is reduced to, and maintained at or below, an acceptable level through a continuing process of hazard identification and risk management in the aviation field. 'Risk' is the assessed potential for adverse consequences resulting from a hazard and 'Risk assessment' involves consideration of both the frequency and the severity of any adverse consequence. This study focused on the risk frequency about a case airport which does not meet the 'Runway end safety area' requirement of ICAO SARPs and Korea standards and used 'RSA risk model' for estimating the risk frequency. As results of this study, risk frequency of the runway end safety areas in the case airport is higher than that of 'Runway end safety area' requirement of ICAO SARPs and Korea standards, which means that alternatives for risk frequency mitigation to a level as low as reasonably practicable is required in the case airport. The optimum solution analysed from this study is to impose restriction of aircraft operation when the runway condition is poor(icing condition) and also it snows in the case airport.
The Analysis of the characteristics of Korean peninsula Aircraft Icing Index using KWRF

The purpose of this study is to analyze the aircraft icing index of Korean peninsula using the numerical weather prediction model, KWRF and pilot weather report data. As comparing the pilot weather report data with the calculated icing index using the KWRF model result, SCLW, RAP, and AFGWC index are more useful than any other index, and IC2, NAWAU, and RSID index are different case by case. But IC1, SID1 and SID2 index show that these overestimated severe icing in every vertical level. Through this icing study, it is expected that this study will help to develop the proper icing index of Korean peninsula.
Study on comparison of quality factors, which effect on service satisfaction by passengers who use multi-airport

The role of airports in the metropolitan area in Korea is very important which is located on the center of Northeast Asia considered as the highest potential growth continent in the world air transport market. This study includes comparison on service quality between Gimpo Airport and Incheon Airport which are indicated as multi-airport system in the metropolitan area appraised by passengers from Korea, Japan and China, and analysis on primary factors of airport service which affect the customer satisfaction and loyalty. The service quality appraised in the order of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese and the analysis result indicated that the service quality factors which influence on customer satisfaction and loyalty were all different among passengers from three countries. Information service was the priority factor for customer satisfaction to Chinese and Korean, but Japanese considered that personal service was the most important factor. This research paper tried to provide many current issues and guides to operational strategy including plan for the specialized routes of multi-airport system in domestic metropolitan area.
The Study on the exit taxiway of an airpark used in LSA

In this study, we surveyed the operating status of the Light Sport Aircraft(LSA) in Korea, and reviewed the minimum requirements of the airpark for LSA. We are discuss about increased aerodrome traffic density and safety improvement, through the installation of the exit taxiway. The shape of the exit taxiway of an airpark used in LSA is a rectangle for usable two way direction of runway. The array types of exit taxiway influence paved and unpaved runway occupancy time of LSA.
A Study on the careless or reckless flight in aviation

"The prohibition of careless or reckless flight" is the regulation specified not only in the national air law but ICAO ANNEX and FAR. This article(item) has not been categorized properly unlike other items and the question such as why this is described as a fundamental and essential act can be answered only by the party subjected to administrative measures in case of Korea and this kind of violation is so rare that it is not easy to understand the legal meaning and the function of the term, "The prohibition of careless or reckless flight" In case of U.S where aviation cases are common, the distinction between the term "careless" or "reckless" operation depends on whether to recognize the given situation. Some incidents happened by failing to aware NOTAM, violating ATC, or T/W landing where a pilot did not recognize the violation itself are considered to be "Careless" flight. Others such as low altitude high speed flight, approximate flight, Rejecting ATC instruction where a pilot intends to or is remiss in safety are regarded as "Reckless" flight. For pilots who are required to take the highest level of care from preparing for flight to stopping engines or completely disembarking passengers from a plane, the clear understanding of the most basic concept of "careless" or "reckless" flight should be emphasized for the safe flight and it is the time for the authorities to set a standard for proper measures by definite legal interpretations.
Development Trend of Light Sport Aircraft and Certification Policy

New aircraft category such as Light Sport Aircraft is introduced to prevent Ultralight Vehicle accidents and to promote aviation sports. Therefore, a new rule for airworthiness standard, certification, operation and maintenance of light sport aircraft is being created. The present study deals with LSA concept, development trend of LSA, airworthiness standards and certification policy. In particular, an aircraft type analysis of FAA certified LSA is conducted to establish performance requirements of Light Sport Aircraft designs.
A Study on application limitation of AHP priority vector with Expert measurement

The AHP methodology compares criteria, or alternatives with respect to a criterion, in a natural, pairwise mode. AHP has been applied in a wide variety of applications multi objective decision making being just one. If a group of expert with different aspect, they need some way to revise expert group. We proposed the concatenation of expert to survey the AHP pairwise question for multi-attribute decision making. In this paper, we suggest a way to revise the expert's priorities in hierarch using concept of different group opinion.
