Re-Design of Wing Flap for Very Light Jet Aircraft Incorporating Airworthiness Certification

In this paper, a conceptual design process for Very Light Jet aircraft has been proposed incorporating aircraft safety certification. During the proposed design process, satisfaction of the airworthiness certification for an intermediate resulting aircraft configuration is evaluated and then redesigns are carried out if necessary and until the designed aircraft configuration satisfies the airworthiness requirements. Certification database has been developed using FAR 23, AC 23, KAS 23, and CS 23 as the airworthiness certification. Based on the developed certification database Design Certifcation Related Table has been produced to use the airworthiness requirements as design constraints in the propsed design process. Using Quality Function Deployment the design variables for a redesign are carefully selected and a design optimization is performed. To demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of rapid aircraft conceptual design using the proposed approach, a Very Light Jet design optimization including a redesign of wing flap has been performed and the design results have been presented.
Shape Memory Alloy Actuator and Spiral Spring Based Separation Actuator for Small Satellite

The separation actuator for the small satellite should fix satellite appendages with high clamping force. After operation, it has to be separated from the satellite body without any damage on satellite system and release the appendages such as a solar panel and an antenna successfully. Therefore, we invent a non-explosive separation actuator for the small satellite which generates low shock and is resettable. In order to confirm performance of the proposed separation actuator, we carried out experiments for separation time, maximum preload for activation, and shock level.
Cockpit Display using 3D Geographic Information

In this research, a cockpit display system using 3 dimensional geographic information was developed. A coordinate transformation method from WGS84 to TM was first studied. Octree data structure was used for efficient 2D and 3D graphic display. Also, a 3D graphic engine was developed for fast display with large amount of geographic data which can be practically used in aircraft onboard computer having low performance. This 3D engine contains additional function such as geographic and object information loading, many kinds of camera mode, aircraft position and rotation control function, character strip display. In the future research, actual GPS signal should be used and additional information that can help pilot's decision should be display.
A study on Fuzzy model for flight aptitude using K-WAIS and FTD test

In order to study the effect of K-WAIS and FTD on flight aptitude, which we utilize to sort out good pilot candidates among applicants, we adopted Fuzzy regression model and expressed the result of flight aptitude tests in Fuzzy number by using maximum/minimum values and mean values. The 7 aspects of K-WAIS were broken down into three similar groups: mathematical ability, visualization ability and organization ability. While mathematical ability and organization ability showed a positive relevance with the FTD test with respect to flight aptitude, visualization ability of K-WAIS showed a negative(-) relevance with flight aptitude, which presented an opposite result to the previous research. Thus, we are to increase the number of samples and do the research thereof in the near future.
A study on the relationship between the job stress factors and the turnover intention on the pilots of the Korean Air Force

This study focused to find the main factors causing job stress to ROKAF pilots and of which factors affects to turnover intention. As a results, the factors of job stress are job characteristics, over loaded ground work, payment, promotion and employee benefits & service system. All of these 5 factors are positively related to the causes of a pilot stress. Among the job stress factors, payment, promotion and over loaded ground work are positively related as the same order. But, job characteristics and employee benefits & service system are not. Even though ROKAF pilots are stressed by annual requirement and night flying, and also are stressed by unfulfilled welfare, those two stress factors are not related to the turnover intention.
A Study on Ways of Improvement to Effectively Control the Flight Information Region focusing on air space of IEODO

It is well known some Foreign aircraft used to fly INCHEON FIR(Flight Information Region), especially the island of IEODO without a flight plan, even though foreign aircraft is subject to submitting a flight plan to Flight Information Center(FIC) before its flight. IEODO is a sunken rock 4.6m beneath the sea level, 149km away from Marado. Facing the Yangtze river's sea entrance horizontally and military zones of Korea and China vertically, IEODO is a very important place for national security of North East Asia because it is located at the boundary between China East Sea and Yellow Sea of South Korea. Moreover, JDZ(the 7th mine lot) is just 77NM from IEODO, which possesses natural gas eight times bigger than the gulf region and oil 4.5 times bigger than that of the U.S. In addition, INCHEON FIR, managed by MLTM(Air Traffic Control Center) and Japanese Self-Defense Force's JADIZ(Japanese Air Defense Identification Zone) are overlapping on IEODO whose air space is very complex. This paper focuses on air space, FIR, ADIZ(Air Defense Identification Zone) and related airspace system and suggests strategic implications of how to prevent foreign aircraft from invading INCHEON FIR without permission and of how to utilize the airspace efficiently.
A Verification of threshold of the aircraft turbulence index and icing index using PIREPs and KWRF on Korean peninsula

The purpose of this study is verification of threshold of the aircraft turbulence index and icing index using PIREPs and KWRF on Korean peninsula, to operational weather support. There is improvement in new threshold value made of the pilot weather report data and the turbulence and icing index from KWRF model result, using the ROC Diagram method. the accuracy is up to 0.6 compared with the precedent study result 0.5. Through this study, It is founded on the research and development of the Korean peninsula aircraft turbulence and icing.

A Comparative Study of Satisfaction of Chinese and Japanese Transit Passengers at Incheon International Airport

This paper tried to find out what the main factors are to impact on satisfaction level of transit passengers at Incheon airport. Incheon airport has made lots of transit facilities and services to attract transit passengers from neighboring airports to increase transit rate as high as advanced foreign airports such as Heathrow, Schiphol and Hong Kong. A survey was performed on 450 transit passengers resting at airport transit lounge in airside area. According to the result, it was found out to be significant factors affecting satisfaction of transit that convenience of security screening, price of duty-free product, a direction board & signage and terminal orientation among Chinese transit passengers. On the other hands, it seemed that Japanese transit passengers thought diversity of airline routes, convenient transfer flight schedule, total transit time and terminal orientation are major variables affecting their satisfaction. Considering the effect of demographic factors, Chinese passenger's satisfaction was more affected by age, travel purpose, the number of travel per year and flight destinations. However, Japanese transit passenger's satisfaction was only affected by the flight destinations, especially willing to travel to North America and Europe.
The influence of Airline's flexible fare policy on consumer's perceiving price fairness: about a moderating role of airline service

This research is the ever first trial to demonstrate how consumer perceives price fairness of airfare. That, I did research on airline's flexible price changes and its effects on consumer's perceiving price fairness, proved the causality between before and after of airline service experience and examined the interest in moderating role of airline service. In addition to this, you also can see a markdown can have effects on consumer's perceiving price fairness. The main results are: Perceived price fairness before experience airline service had positive effects on perceiving price as fair. Since the direction of perceived price fairness coincides with in the context of the consumer's experience, so the preliminarily evaluated fairness had positive effects on the post fairness acceptance. With the second result, when you see consumer's perceived price fairness beforehand service experience has effects on post service experience in perceiving price fairness, you see the activation of a markdown, in-flight service, after-flight service as moderating roles as they strengthen the tie between the two perception modes and exhibited interaction with the price fairness beforehand service experience the independent variable. As the last one, a markdown of airfare had positive influence on consumer in perceiving price fairness. So, even if he/she becomes aware of overcharging, he/she will not pursue price being unfair. With these results, you can tell a markdown of airline service could have positive influence on both new and established consumers in the aspect of perceiving price fairness.
