A Study on Real-Time Inertia Estimation Method for STSAT-3

The accurate information of mass properties is required for the precise control of the spacecraft. The mass properties, mass and inertia, are changeable by some reasons such as consumption of propellant, deployment of solar panel, sloshing, environmental effect, etc. The gyro-based attitude data including noise and bias reduces the control accuracy so it needs to be compensated for improvement. This paper introduces a real-time inertia estimation method for the attitude determination of STSAT-3, Korea Science Technology Satellite. In this method we first filter the gyro noise with the Extended Kalman Filter(EKF), and then estimate the moment of inertia by using the filtered data from the EKF based on the Recursive Least Square(RLS).
Estimation of Aerodynamic Coefficients for a Skid-to-Turn Missile using Neural Network and Recursive Least Square

This paper is to estimate aerodynamic coefficients needed to determine the missiles' controller design and stability from simulation data of Skid-to-Turn missile. Method of determining aerodynamic coefficients is to apply Neural Network and Recursive Least Square and results were compared and researched. Also analysing actual flight test data was considered and sensor noise was added. Estimate parameter of data with sensor noise added and estimated performance and reliability for both methods that did not need initial values. Both Neural Network and Recursive Least Square methods showed excellent estimate results without adding the noise and with noise added Neural Network method showed better estimate results.
A Study on Separation Minima Determination based on Surveillance System Accuracy Performance

A properly determined separation minima applied in Air Traffic Management(ATM) is critical for safe and efficient aircraft operations. The separation minima is primarily determined by the accuracy performance of surveillance system, and, due to the stringent aviation safety standard, the position accuracy of the surveillance system must be estimated with a high level of reliability. This study proposed a method for estimating the position accuracy of surveillance system with a relatively small amount of data by finding upper confidence limit instead of maximum likelihood values of unknown parameters. Through the proposed method, it is possible to determine a required separation minima with a more reliability in the face of data scarcity which often occurs when we implement a new surveillance system such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B).
A Study on a Installation Siting for GBAS Category-I Ground System Implementation in Gimpo Airport

This paper presents site survey processes and the results for installing GBAS Category-I ground system into Gimpo international airport. For siting assessment, many things should be taken into account in advance, such as installation requirement of GBAS components, future airport development plan and possible interference effects to existing facilities. Because overall performance of GBAS system can be affected by GPS signal reception environment, on-site survey should be performed carefully to measure actual GPS environmental performance and determine if any adverse multipath or RFI problems exist or not. In addtion, VDB antenna should be located to ensure line of sight for transmitting VHF signal to deliver GBAS message to aircraft. Based on the survey results, final location for GBAS system installation is selected near runway 32 in the Gimpo airport.
Network Configuration Design of GNSS Receiving Station for Optimizing Performance of Precise Positioning

In this paper, requirements of GNSS receiver station installation are derived for optimizing the performance of network based GNSS precise positioning by concern of international organization(IGS, NGS) recommendation. Also a analysis method of network based GNSS precise positioning is suggested in order to evaluate the availability depending on various network configurations. To evaluate network candidates, a performance evaluation method is proposed for positioning of users according to a geometric configuration and the baseline distance. After the proposed method is used to Ochang region that is a the test area 6 network candidates are derived and the performance of positioning was analyzed. Finally, Ansung, Gongju, Eumsung, Boeun network configuration was selected as the best positioning performance. An optimal Receiving station network was selected using the proposed method.
A Method of Data Transmission for Performance Improvement of Real Time GNSS Data Processing in Multi-Reference Network Station

This paper propose a transmission method for "Transportation system" that can decide precise position under wide area road traffic environment. For precise position detecting, central station collect multiple receiver station's satellite navigation data and generate correction information. In this process, we need efficient real time transmission method for satellite navigation message that has variable data size. We propose real time data transmission method. This real time transmission method offer efficient processing structure for multiple receiver station's satellite navigation message. This paper explains proposed real time transmission method and proofs this transmission method.
Distance Based Aeronautical Communication TDMA MAC for Increasing Transmission Rate

VDL(VHF Data Link) Mode E uses TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access) based aeronautical communication technologies for airborne environments. In the VDL Mode E, aircraft uses RR(Reservation Requests) slot to request data slot. However, RR needs a long guard time, since aircraft communication spans a considerable distance. The more number of aircrafts causes a larger amount of guard times which can make a throughput decreased. In this paper, we propose an enhanced MAC to reduce the guard time by using the distance information of aircraft. The ground station sends management data including time stamp. And then all aircraft can measure their distance from the ground station.
Study on Structural Integrity of Bearingless Main Rotor Hub System of Helicopter

Rotor system is a very important part which produce lift, thrust and control force in helicopter. Component of rotor system must have structural integrity for applied load. The estimation of structural integrity is regarded greatly as important in aerospace field. In this study, the process of structural analysis performed for bearingless main rotor system of helicopter. The composite flexbeam and torque tube of bearingless main rotor are very thick, so 3D layered soild elements of MSC.PATRAN were used to get the finite element analysis results. To estimate structural integrity, non-linear static analysis considering geometric non-linearity is performed. In addition, detailed finete element analysis and non-linear static analysis are performed to consider the stress concentration for fitting effect and contact surface. The estimation process of structural integrity for bearingless main rotor system of helicopter may help the design.
The Effect of Experience Emotion on Pilot's Risk Perception: Interaction Effects of Emotion Regulation

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of experience emotion (i.e., happy, proud, sad, fear) on the risk perception. This study also examined interaction effects of emotion regulation (i.e., reappraisal strategy, problem focused strategy) between experience emotion and risk perception. The study collected data from 168 flight crew members in Korean commercial airlines, using an online research in which an experiment of emotion manipulation and a survey were included. The results of the study found the positive effect of happiness emotion on the risk perception regarding cases 1(these cases have high possibility of negative result and low circumstance control) and the positive effect of sadness emotion on the risk perception regarding cases 2(these cases have low possibility of negative result and high circumstance control). This study also found the interaction effect of reappraisal emotion regulation strategy between the relationship of happiness and risk perception regarding cases 2. From these results, the study provided that theoretical and practical implication that happiness and sadness emotion contribute risk perception and reappraisal strategy has a moderating role in the relationship between happy emotion and risk perception. Finally, based on these results, the limitations of this study and future research were discussed.
An Weather Analysis for Selection of the Aircraft Category F's Alternative Airport

This paper is part of the research about the selection and justification of Jeju international airport as an aircraft category 'F' alternative airport, which is the results of an weather analysis based on meteorological statistics. As the results of the study, it has been only 1 day per year (58minutes) that weather conditions of Incheon and Jeju international airports, from January 2006 to June 2011, are below landing weather minimums of each airport at the same times. This means that these airports are not within the same meteorological region, which is against the current orthodoxy. In addition, it is very rare that weather conditions of Jeju international airports are below landing weather minimums when Incheon international airport is below landing weather minima. It shows that the meteorological characteristics of these regions differ widely and the designation of Jeju international airport as an alternative airport is scientifically reasonable.
Development of the Korean Aviation Turbulence Guidance (KTG) System using the Operational Unified Model (UM) of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and Pilot Reports (PIREPs)

Korean aviation Turbulenc Guidance (KTG) system is developed using the operational unified model (UM) of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and pilot reports (PIREPs) over East Asia. The KTG system comprised of twenty turbulence diagnostics that represent various turbulence potentials and have the best forecasting skills, which are combined into a single ensemble-averaged index, namely KTG, at upper-(above FL250) and mid-(below FL250) levels. It is found that the overall performance of the KTG is higher than those produced from the one single best index, and satisfies the minimum criteria (80% accuracy) that the system is operationally useful in aviation industry.
A Study on Improvement of Just Safety Culture in Aviation Maintenance

Aviation Maintenance Technician(AMT)'s error is not directly link to deficiency which is differ to flight crew's error and it potentially maintains. Due to it usually occur as undesired aircraft state, hazards, like unreported maintenance error or near miss fortunately undetected and are not develop to accident. This could be a crucial influence of an accident occurrence. To remove these hazards, just safety culture should be support that anyone can report about safety problems and person who reported safety problems and hazards like near miss, should not get disadvantages. Also if it is satisfied, they must exempt for punishment and guaranteed for security. Hence, on this study, aviation maintenance site's just culture need to be researched and analysed about improvement for aviation maintenance field's positive just culture.
A Study on the Effect of Job Satisfaction Factors and Service Delivery Perception of Aviation Security Screener Affecting Job Satisfaction

This study, the cause of an aviation security employees' job satisfaction and dissatisfaction will be understood and the data can be used as evidence to explain the position of the employees. Moreover, the results of this study shall be conducted to increase the level of service delivery and also to remove unsatisfactory factors. Thus, according to this research survey shows the understanding of the job satisfaction and service delivery influences on the overall job satisfaction of a secure enterprise's security screeners. As a results, by improving the job satisfaction of aviation security screeners, the world's most safe, convenient service and quick airport service delivery could be achieved. Therefore, in order to improve the level of Korea and the international competitiveness of airlines, the promotion of job satisfaction of employees would be very important. Moreover based on the results of this study, the advanced research on the recognition differences for service evaluation between the customers and security screeners are needed.
A Research on Analyzing Current Status and Ways to Improve Access Transportation to Incheon International Airport

As Incheon International Airport(IIA) is located in an island 50-km away from Seoul, various travel equipments for access are required. So far two connecting bridges are constructed funded by civilian funds. For the further bridge construction, the reduction of forecast traffic amount and the government subsidy for the civilian funds are big issues. Comparing the access traffics of IIA to those other competing airports, traffic conditions inside the airport are superior to other competing airports from the management point of view, as utilization conditions and equipment capacities are periodically monitored and evaluated to set up comprehensive countermeasures following constructing by stages. However, while the accessability to IIA is very important, as IIA is built on an island the conflicts between near-by developers and traffic facility operators make further bridge construction difficult. As improving the accessibility to an airport is not easy to achieve only by the IIA management's efforts, the central government level authorities should organize a committee with agencies concerned and analyze the characteristics of access traffic periodically to suggest reform measures for each organization concerned to implement appropriate undertakings at apt timing. For the future, central government's level empirical research on the airport accessibility for synthetic and systematic plan set-up is expected.
The Relationship between Organizational Culture and Emotional Labor: The Mediating Effect of Social Support

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between organizational culture(constructive and defensive culture) and emotional labor along with the social supports (supervisor support, colleague support). Using data obtained from a survey of 419 flight attendants of a major airline company in south Korea. The results are as follows: Organizational culture had a significant effect on emotional labor. At this point, colleague support mediated the relationship between constructive culture and emotional labor. In addition, supervisor support and colleague support had a mediating role between defensive culture and emotional labor. This result concludes that flight attendants positively accept the essential manuals and safety regulations in the special working condition with a unified team service. Furthermore, the results show that social supports are an important job resource for flight attendants helping them reach their work-related goals.
A Study on Flight inspection cost analysis and Proper commissions calculator

In South Korea, there is no consideration for increasing labor costs and price fluctuation regarding the commission for a flight inspection. Because this causes a deficit in the flight inspection related operation, the cost system should be improved. Therefore, this research considers the first cost analysis in order to calculate a proper flight inspection commission through three different types of cost making methods. Moreover, as flight inspections are held by flights and human labors, labor costs are included as the main operation cost. According to the research, it is analyzed that the total cost to process flight inspection operations is decided by the scope of aircraft operation.
