3-Dimensional Path Planning and Guidance using the Dubins Curve for an 3-DOF Point-mass Aircraft Model

In this paper, we integrate three degree of freedom(3DOF) point-mass model for aircraft and three-dimensional path generation algorithms using dubins curve and nonlinear path tracking law. Through this integration, we apply the path generation algorithm to the path planning, and verify tracking performance and feasibility of using the aircraft 3DOF point-mass model for air traffic management. The accuracy of modeling 6DOF aircraft is more accurate than that of 3DOF model, but the complexity of the calculation would be raised, in turn the rate of computation is more likely to be slow due to the increase of degree of freedom. These obstacles make the 6DOF model difficult to be applied to simulation requiring real-time path planning. Therefore, the 3DOF point-mass model is also sufficient for simulation, and real-time path planning is possible because complexity can be reduced, compared to those of the 6DOF. Dubins curve used for generating the optimal path has advantage of being directly available to apply path planning. However, we use the algorithm which extends 2D path to 3D path since dubins curve handles the two dimensional path problems. Control law for the path tracking uses the nonlinear path tracking laws. Then we present these concomitant simulation results.
A Study of Threshold Determination of The GPS measurement failure using GPS Code-Carrier Divergence Test

In this study, The code-carrier divergence test was applied to GPS measurements, and the results were compared and analyzed. The GPS data used for the threshold determination were obtained from Global Navigation Satellite System permanent stations built by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. At each permanent station, identical dual-frequency receiver and choke ring antenna with radome are installed. The analysis method, root mean square values were compared and analyzed for each permanent station and satellite. As a result, the root mean square value generally decreased as the satellite elevation angle increased although the trend was gentle. Threshold were finally selected based on the average and standard deviation of root mean square for each permanent station. For improving of availability and continuity in real-time operation when the threshold is over the limits, Code-Carrier divergence test values are initialized.
The Effect of Servicescape at Airport Duty Free Shop on Customer Satisfaction and Image

Despite rapid growing in domestic duty free industry, weight of income from airport duty free area is relatively decreasing because of rapid progress in downtown duty free area. The purpose of this research was investigating the relationship between airport duty free servicescape and its effects on customer satisfaction and image for duty free shop, in order to maintain own competitive advantages. In pursuing above, previous studies related to servicescape, service value, customer satisfaction, and image were examined for literature review. Based on this previous studies, research model were constructed. Hypothesis was verified by effect. Data from 305 samples was employed for final survey. The main results show that functionality, attraction and convenience were meaningful factors to effect perceived servicescape. On the other hand, cleanness and comfort had few or no influence on servicescape. The perceived servicescape affected on service value and customer satisfaction. Service value had positive effects on customer satisfaction which was discovered to affected on image for duty free shop.
An Analysis for the Night illuminance Affected on Light Environments and Weather Conditions

This study deals with the light environments and weather conditions affecting to the night illuminance over the Korean peninsula. The experiment was executed to analyze the effects on the illuminance at separate sites(Gyeryong and Pilseung) considering the different light environments. The analysis was applied to illuminance measurement from the lightmeter, which was developed for the IYA(International Year of Astronomy) 2009, in order to observe the illuminance of areal networks. The weather observations, such as the cloud cover and visibility, were used to understand the quantitative influence of the illuminance to the selected sites. The results show that the illuminance measurements are significantly different from data of the operational illuminance prediction model which simply applies extinction effect for the illuminance. It shows that these differences are caused by the light environments and weather conditions for each site. Therefore, it can be confirmed that the night illuminance is the output of interaction with the characteristics of light for luminous sources.
Study on the implementation of malfunction, defect and failure reporting system to the korean indigenous aircraft

ROK issued its first type certificate to the KC-100 airplane, Part 23 normal category, and become the State of Design (SoD) in 2013. Before this, ROK aviation regulations were focused on the operation and continued airworthiness of aircraft registered and operated in ROK that were designed and manufactured in another contracting state. Therefore the implementation of reporting system were restricted to gather the failure and service difficulty reports from the owners or operators and transmit the information to the State of Design and/or the manufacture relating to the type certificated aircraft. However, ROK, to fulfill the accountability of the State of Design, has to ensure there is a system to address the information received from the State of Registry on failure, malfunctions, defects and other occurrences that might cause adverse effects on the continuing airworthiness of the korean type certificated aircraft. This paper presents an overview of ICAO requirements for the State of Design, and current implementation of reporting system of USA and Japan and discusses the current status and further considerations on the rule-making for the malfunction, defect and failure reporting system applicable to the korean indigenous aircraft.
Study on aircraft fatigue life substantiation method

This paper reviews and summarizes overall fatigue substantiation method of aircraft. The fatigue substantiation method has been studied using the related regulation and examples of industry application. And the comparisons of fatigue substantiation procedure between safe-life and damage tolerance design have been performed. Fatigue substantiation methods have wide variability depend on design methodology and type of aircraft such as fixed wing and rotorcraft. In this study, fatigue substantiation methodologies have been reviewed using analysis and test methods.
A study on the approach to reduce in the aviation GHG emissions in Korea

Global aviation is projected to grow in demand by an annual average of 4.1% between 2014 and 2034. It can be said that environmental impact from aviation will therefore be expected to increase on a similar scale. As regards civil aviation emissions, the sector contributes between 2~3% to International aviation GHG emissions. In the European Union(EU), aviation emissions account for about 3% of the EU's total green house gas emissions, of which a majority are said to come from international flights. In terms of traffic volume in 2013, Korea's international aviation industry 11th with regard to passengers and 3rd with regard to cargo, attaining the overall rank of 5th in the world. GHG emissions has been increasing steadily over the last 4 years, averaging 3.9 percent a year, due to the growth of low cost carriers and the increased demand for air transportations. As for aviation in Korea, there are a number of means intended to attain the Government's emission control objective in an efficient manner, such as AVA (Agreement of Voluntary Activity), TMS (Target Management System) and ETS (Emission Trading Scheme). In addition, the Government intends to better adapt to ICAO's Global MBM(Market-based Measures) that will come into performance on Year 2020. In the study, we focused on GHG mitigation measures that is fulfilling the AVA, TMS, ETS in the Government and suggest the effective measures to reduction the aviation GHG emissions.
A Study on the Autonomous Powered Ram Air Parafoil System Considering Wind Effect

In this work a guidance and control system for an a powered ram air parafoil under wind disturbance is considered. After analyzing a 6 Dof and 9 Dof nonlinear dynamic models of the parafoil, wind effect is added to them. In order to actively respond to the wind acting on the transverse direction of the vehicle a new guidance algorithm is proposed. After a Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation (HILS) study, flight tests are performed to demonstrate its potential under wind disturbances.
A Study of Incheon Airport Employees' Perception and Attribution on ASQ Service Performances focusing on Outsource Workers

Perception of outsource workers among Incheon Int'l airport employees was reviewed about the service performances of winning the ASQ awards in 11 consecutive years. 85% of Incheon airport operating authority(Incheon International Airport Corp.) and its outsource companies employees was composed of outsource workers. Thus, their thoughts might represent the overall perception of airport operating authority employees. The perception on the service performances of winning the ASQ awards was analyzed by researchers using attribution theory model. It is useful to apply attribution modeling in order to analyze the causal relationships among variables. Attribution is the process by which individuals explain the causes of behavior and events. Attribution theory is the study of models to explain those processes. According to empirical analysis, it was found outsource workers attributed the excellent service performance of Incheon airport to such an internal factor as service competence. However it was also implied they attributed to such external factors as the positive relationship and institutional support from airport and government authorities.
