A Research on the Reconstruction Project for the Main Gate Area of the U University Campus

In order to solve the current shortage of parking spaces, and redesign the main gate area of the U University, the research investigated some cases of other schools located in Seoul which actively constructed multi-purpose building structures. Those schools are considered to be good samples showing their efforts to fulfill the needs of more parking spaces in their campuses, and to cover with the growing needs of multi-functioned facilities accommodating services of academic affairs, reading room spaces, and amenities. With the investigation, the research finded out the current trends of campus developments from the sample schools, such as underground parking facilities connected with multi-purpose buildings along the main arteries of campuses. Following the trends the research thoroughly examined the present conditions of our school and tried to make some possible alternatives for the facilities. Under the conditions, the research suggested 1)to construct underground parking lots accepting around 1,000 cars under the ivory tower square located in front of University Administration Building, 2)to develop a big-scaled open square at the university main gate, and 3)to build a multi-purpose structure along the main street of the campus, which included administration services, studying spaces, and some commercial facilities.
Estimating Optimum Investment Cost for Obsolete School Buildings

Area Offices of Education in Korea assign and execute government budget based on the evaluation of school buildings` safety rating and degree of their deterioration. However, it is never easy to estimate the most appropriate investment amount for old buildings under consideration of their service lives and residual values together. A model of estimating optimum investment cost for obsolete school building is developed taking its life cycle cost into account. The model is also applied to six old buildings in five different schools and found that some of the facilities hardly needed further investment and were better to be rebuilt. The study results will be a great beneficial for officers to make right decision on maintaining obsolete school buildings and to maximize tax payers` money.
The Survey of Construction Workers` Preference for Introducing the Emotional Safety in School Facility Construction - Focused on Emotional Safety Sensor and Emotional Facilities -

The deaths caused by industrial accidents during the construction of the mortality rate is considerably higher than in other industries. To prevent such a disaster workers and to minimize unsafe behavior measures to be drawn, and construction companies recently to stimulate the emotions of the workers to participate in voluntary activities are safe. In this study, the construction workers can stimulate emotions and activities on the environment by examining the preferences of the workers on-site management will want to take advantage. This study revealed that the construction workers prefer the incentive most and then working environment.
A Study on the Planning of Indoor Environment Factors for Sustainable School Facility

Global environment is getting deteriorated at an alarming rate. Eco-school could be one of the effective solutions to project our environment and a good sample of architecture to economize in total energies, resources and greenhouse gases. In case of our country, the study of eco-school planning is not sufficient compared with other countries, so this paper would be a good study on the indoor environment of the classroom by surveying their opinions and ideas from the group of users in school facility. The result of this study shows that the proper installation of building equipment and nature ventilation system is necessary to provide delightful environment for the students and to save the energy. To ensure that we have adequate saving and protection it is necessary to change the existing appraisal standard.

The importance of education and training facilities and education facilities on the relationship between effective as demonstrated in many studies can be very big. In this study, the status of existing school facilities improvement project is done individually, based on the systematic integration of the improvement project was to evaluate the feasibility. Furthermore, it was based on looking for ways to effectively pursue. Training School Facilities Improvement Program to be competitive, the country continued to be pursued systematically and very large scale as a whole must be a great national project. So much to promote efficient business environment, quality of education for children with detractors of the national budget to ensure efficient and most importantly in terms of economic investment that can be. In this study, the proposed K-TEGS existing school facilities, such as the development of techniques for the assessment based on this effort to promote an efficient business should be done on a continuous basis.
A study on improvement of walking safety in newtown schoolzone way

The purpose of this study is to suggest a scheme to provide children safer and more comfortable walking circumstances by survey current walking circumstances of schoolzone ways. A scheme suggested in this study was based on the analysis of survey to elementary school in 3 Newtowns(Dongtan, Dongbaek and Gumdan City) and actually surveyed data on school zone, the scheme can be summed up as follows; First, to avoid pedestrian roads being interrupted and to expend waiting space near schoolzone ways, several measures are needed including fixing roads and building additional gateway. Second, pedestrian crossings in front of school gate should be located at least 30m away from the left side of the gate. Third, to secure pedestrians` safety in school zone ways should be planed and established more security concepts und facilities.
A Study on Activation Methods of Old Downtown in Daegu -Concentrated on the Practical Use of Unused School Facilities-

Jung-gu in Daegu is an old downtown that has led the development of Daegu as a representative center and a commercial area with historicity and placeless. However, an urban center is losing its vitality due to the transfer of city halls and the development of new towns. The downtown area that is still important in a city should lead urban development continuously so that it needs to return its vitality by rehabilitating the weakling urban center. Accordingly this study makes the school which shows drop in the number of students and classes in the school buildings located in Jung-gu, Daegu. Consequently this study figures out a cause for the occurrence of unused school facilities and find a solution as the space for local residents by investigating the facilities of schools, the surroundings, the reality, and the present condition. This study is conducted to examine actual situations of a downtown area that has gone through development and history of Daegu as a center. To this end, it aims to seek for methods to activate the city by relating the practical use of unused school facilities.
A Study on Color Planning of Elementary, Middle and High School Buildings -A Case Study of Domestic and Foreign School Buildings-

The purpose of this study is in providing a systematic method for school building color scheme. This study analyzed the cases of color uses in domestic and foreign school buildings. The results from this study tells that the colors in school buildings should take into account the environmental, psychological and functional elements at the same time to effectively function as environmental color, effect color and induction color.
