A Study on the Current Situation of Vacant Primary and Middle Schools in China

Due to the population decrease and urbanization process, a new round of rural primary and middle school pattern adjustment has been implemented since 2000. When the teaching quality is improved, a series of problems also occur, including the security of students, increasing burden on farmers, especially, abundant vacant schools have been produced due to the integration of schools. These schools have a great significance for the developing China. However, due to the problems in land ownership and property right of schools, the re-application rate of these vacant schools is quite low, and then how to improve the usage rate of vacant schools by combining with the new rural construction and urbanization has been the significant problem in the current study. In this paper, the causes, processes, results achieved and existing problems of primary and middle schools, as well as the amount of vacant schools have been explored in details, and then the current situation and existing problems have been discussed, hoping to provide certain reference for the government and researchers.
A Comparative Study on Space Organization of Elementary School in Korea and Japan

This study aims on finding a direction of desirable space organization of future elementary school in Korea by analyzing current status of space organization of elementary school in Japan. In this study comparison and analysis of curriculum of Korea and Japan, facility standards on national level and standards of national subsidy, current status of number of schools and students, transition of changes in facility area of elementary school for last 10 years are included. In Korea and Japan each 7 elementary schools which were constructed after 2007 and are good in space organization and school planning are selected. The comparison and analysis of satisfaction level on physical educational conditions and facilities such as current status of space organization and how to use them are conducted in this study. The contents of analyzing space organization are `entry and placement, outdoor space`, `space program` and `phase structure and organization of unit space`.
A study on the merger and abolition policy of small scale school in the rural area

The study aims to deduct the factors needed for the judgement on merger and abolition policies and draw out suitable types of these policies through interviews with the people concerned during the process of the merger and abolition of schools in rural communities. Following are the results of the study. For the smaller scaled schools, it was possible to notice the fact that there are positive and negative aspects associated with the curriculums and the sociality of the students. However, collectively considering with the continuous decrease in the number of school aged children along with the development of curriculums, personal characters and sociality of the students, it is better when the schools are properly scaled. Also, it is needed to consider new sets of policies as the number of school aged children is continuously decreasing - the current policy states that there should be one school per village. For the implementation while not losing centripetal points of schools within the communities, the Branch policy(1-2 years based or 1-4 years based) is considered. This implementation is considered to be possible because the Branch schools can be turned into facilities such as nursery schools and preschools which enables communities to sustain the spaces for cultural and welfare needs for their own.
A Study on the feasibility for school bus introduced of commuting to improve the environment in primary school of urban areas

Unplanned growth of the city was established, despite many elementary, School facilities outside the city is still lacking. Basically should be able to walk to school through elementary school in the case of excessive distance, issues such as unsafe in the school environment and the school, overcrowding, excessive relieve classroom learning environment, with the improvement of the overall situation is necessary. In this study, the status for local public elementary school environment, research and analysis, case studies, research, and through community and resolve problems derived as a school bus for the introduction of alternative feasibility analysis.
A Study on Present Condition and Educational Improvement Plan of Building Services System

The education of building services field at university is not enough, although the field has become to be very important in architectural engineering. This lack of education is one of the reason that the level of domestic building services field is lower than that in developed countries. Present conditions of related laws, fields of work after graduation and education at university in building services field have been studied, and education conditions have been investigated divided into four-year architectural engineering course and five-year architecture course. Though building services field has become more important at university education, the number of credits and professor of the field is still small than other fields of architectural engineering. More practical curriculums are necessary to meet the expectation of companies, and it will be one of the method to meet it that criteria of curriculum constitution is according to ABEEK(Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) in more architectural engineering department.
A Study on the Evaluation of Landscape Elements in Outdoor Space at University Campus

This study is to analyze the satisfaction and the image evaluation of landscape elements in outdoor space by types of the university campus. The results are as follows. 1) Out of outdoor elements at university campus, planting area, resting area, access road, and water feature are recognized as major landscape elements. Among them, planting area and access roads are evaluated low in terms of satisfaction levels, therefore, improvement on these elements are required. 2) In outdoor space image evaluation, university campus has image such as `simple`, `clear`, and `safe`. By scale of universities, both `A` university, which is the biggest in terms of size of campus, and `B` university, which has a medium sized campus, have a positive image. However, `C` university, which is the smallest in terms of size of campus, has a passive and negative image. 3) 6 factors are extracted through Factor Analysis for image evaluation. All of the universities show positive image in the categories of `clarity` and `familiarity`, however, `B` university and `C` university show negative image in the category of `scale`. 4) In Correlation Analysis between landscape elements satisfaction level and image evaluation, it is showed that the group of landscape facility becomes a relation factor of overall image evaluation. As a result, the higher satisfaction level goes, the better image evaluation of overall outdoor space at university campus is.
