Prediction of Plastic Settlement of Roadbed Materials through Cyclic Loading Test

If the railways consisting of soil subgrade is applied to repetitive loading, elastic deformation and plastic deformation will occur at the same time. So the repeat traffic loading condition should be considered to predict the long-term deformation on railway roadbed. In this study, laboratory data from the repeated load triaxial tests and cylinder model test were used to predict accumulated settlement on railway foundation and results were analyed based on the nonliear models and stress state considered. It has proposed predict model using power function model on plastic settlement of roadbed materials.
Evaluation of Bearing Capacity for Permeable Pavement using Geocell

This paper presents the results of investigation into bearing capacity of a geocell reinforced load base. In order to analyze variation of bearing capacity of the geocell reinforced road base comparing to without reinforced geocell road base, a series of full-scale tests were performed and measured using FWD (Falling Weight Deflectometer). The results indicate that bearing capacity of geocell (T=1.5 mm) reinforecd road base increase than the unreinforced road base.
Recycling Plan for Waste Concrete Fine Aggregate as Materials of Anti-Frost Layer and Sub-Base Layer

In this study, a recycling plan for waste concrete fine aggregate as fill material was researched by investigating environmental engineering properties. It is noted that the environmental influence of waste concrete fine aggregate is little since chemical level is satisfied the waste management standard. Waste concrete fine aggregate is not suitable for materials of anti-frost layer and sub-base layer since the particle-size distribution and engineering properties are not partially satisfied the quality standard. However, waste concrete fine aggregate can be recycled as materials of anti-frost layer and sub-base layer if we improve the engineering properties by mixing bigger aggregates than maximum particle size (5 mm) more than 25 percent of total weight.
Freezing and Deflection Characteristics of Flexible Pavement Structure Using Frost Model Test

In this paper, the frost heaving and thawing characteristics of flexible pavement structure were evaluated in the large scale freezer which have a specification of temperature range

was used to simulate actual pavement road structure. The variation of temperature, frost heave amount and frost heave pressure were measured through the instrument of TDS-602 data logger. LFWD (light falling weight deflectometer) was used to determine the change of deflection due to the frost heaving and thawing. Furthermore, the influence of aggregate layer to the freezing of the subgrade soil was studied to verify the function and effectiveness of the anti-freezing layer.
Applicability of Solidified Soil as a Filling Materials of Bored Pile

The cement paste is mostly used as the filling materials of bored pile in Korea. The use of filling material based on cement paste is inefficient at field construction because it needs a lot of the charging mass. In addition, it has environmental problem according to the large amount of cement use because its strength is also larger than criterion. The excavated soil with stabilizer can be used as the filling materials when the bored pile is constructed. Therefore, this paper describes field application of solidified soil for economical efficiency and environment-friendly. The injection capacity of solidified soil is compared with cement paste's based on unconfined compressive strength test and field load test, and the appropriate of test results is evaluated by design criterion. The evaluation result shows that the capacity of excavated soil with stabilizer is similar to cement paste and the solidified soil is able to apply as filling materials of bored pile because it is satisfied with design criterion.
Evaluation on Stability of Reinforced Earth Wall using Geosynthetic Strip with Rounded Band Anchor

This paper describes the stability evaluation of reinforced earth wall using geosynthetic strip based on field test. The wall facing, which is applied in field, is able to present excellent scenery, and the reinforcement has improvement effect of pullout resistance based on rounded band anchor. The measurement is conducted according to construction elapsed time of structure for earth pressure, horizontal displacement of wall facing and reinforcement strain in field test. The evaluation results show that the measured earth pressure is less than theoretical earth pressure due to dispersion effect of earth pressure by geosynthetic strip. The horizontal displacement of wall facing is also satisfied a empirical criteria. The measured strain of reinforcement had nearly no effect on stability of the reinforced earth wall. Therefore, the geosynthetic strip with rounded band anchor can be applied in the reinforced earth wall, and the reinforced earth wall with geosynthetic strip can be commonly used in field because it has a structural stability.
Safety Management Improving Way of Small Agricultural Reservoir

There are about 17,531 agricultural small dams and reservoirs in Korea. Ninety five percent of the small dams were constructed by earthfill and they were suffered severe damages or expected to repairs or rehabilitation. Therefore dams are evaluated and are identified their problems. Small Dams should be repaired before too late. Small dam safety evaluation is required to guarantee the proper functions of the existing agricultural dams and reservoirs in time and to minimize the damage.
