A Study on the Reinforcement Effects of Decomposed Granite Soils according to the Spacing Intensity of Non-woven Geotextile

In this study, the deformation and strength characteristics for non-woven geotextile-reinforced decomposed granite soil on the triaxial compression test under the same condition as the underground. The specimen of reinforced earth was made of the decomposed granite soil imbedded horizontal in a given space with non-woven geotextile. Four different type of specimen was used in this experimental programme; UR for unreinforced, R-1 for a single non-woven geotextile sheet, R-2 for two sheets, and R-3 for three sheets. According to the testing results, it was found that the strength of the reinforced soil increased when the non-woven geotextile sheets were more used. These results would be applied to the design of reinforced earth structure through the theoretical interpretation method.
Experimental Study on a Gabion Wall Reinforced by a Relatively Short Reinforcement

The Gabion wall have been developed on the basis of experimental works and the method is actively used in the actual site. In this study, a relatively small-scale experiment was carried out to figure out the failure behavior of a Gabion wall reinforced by a relatively short wire net to enlarge the axial tensile resistance which is important factor in the stability. The horizontal and vertical displacement of Gabion wall have been acquired and analyzed. Furthermore the results are compared with the test results for a non-reinforced Gabion wall that is performed at the same condition.
Analysis of Engineering Properties to Basalt in Cheju island

To investigate the engineering properties of basalt in Cheju Island, rock samples of Pyosenri basalt, trachy-basalt and scoria were taken from Seoguipo-Si Seongsan-Eup area. The laboratory tests such as absorption test, specific gravity test, permeability test, Schmidt hammer test, elastic wave test and uniaxial compressive testwere carried out for the collected rock samples. The absorption, the specific gravity, the permeability, the elastic wave velocity and uniaxial compressive strengthwere investigated and analyzed as the results of these tests. As the result of regression analysis for the relationship between the rebound values from Schmidt hammer test and the uniaxial compressive strengths from uniaxial compressive test, especially, estimation equations were proposed using the rebound values from Schmidt hammer test. Therefore, the simple method to estimate the uniaxial compressive strength was provided.
Dewatering of dredged sludge using geotextile tube

Recently, dewatering process method of high water content materials that utilize geotextile has many applications in variety fields. It is method of dewatering to solid step through self-weight consolidation process after pour sludge using filtering efficiency and dewatering efficiency. Analyzed application of domestic manufactured geotextile tube that can examine physical characteristics of geotextile tube and filling soil and achieve filtering efficiency and dewatering efficiency. Based on the various laboratory and field test results mixing proportions of water and soil is about 6:4 at least. Polypropylene geotextile is more effective for drainage and dewatering function of geotextile tube application.
Characteristics of Reinforced Drainage Geotextile for Waste Treatment System

The settlement occurring during landfill construction often causes a damage of drainage system. Clogging can reduce the hydraulic conductivity of the Leachate Collection and Drainage System, which results in the increase of leachate level within the landfill. Consequently, the insulation ability of leachate will be decreased. The main purpose of this project is to estimate a newly designed reinforced drainage geotextile (RDG) combining non-woven fabrics with geogrid for minimizing the destruction of drainage layer as well as evaluating RDG's application in the leachate collection and drainage system. Thus, the project observed the permittivity changes of RDG, and evaluated the drainage ability using RDG in the leachate collection and drainage system.
Evaluation of Discharge Capacity with PVDs Types in Waste Lime Area

Recently, the demand for industrial and residential lands are being increased with economic growth, however, it is difficult to acquire the land for development with good ground condition. For efficient and balanced development of land, new development projects are being carried out not only the areas with inland but those with the soft ground as well. As soft grounds have complex engineering properties and high variations such as ground settlement especially when their strength is low and depth is deep, it needs to accurately analyze the engineering properties of soft grounds and find general measurement for stabilization and economic design and management. Prefabricated vertical drain technology is widely used to accelerate the consolidation of soft clay deposits and dredged soil under the preloading and various types of vertical drain are being used with the discharge capacity. Under field conditions, the discharge capacity is changed with various reason, such as soil condition, confinement pressure, long-term clogging and folding of vertical drains, and so on. Therefore, many researcher and engineer recommend the use of required discharge capacity. In this paper, the experimental study were carried out for two different types of vertical drains by utilizing the large-scale model tests and waste lime.
