Studils on Micro Fibril Angle of Woody Plant Cell Wall(1) - Variation of Micro Fibril Angle on Tree Stem -

This paper aims at gaining the informations atout the fibril angle at secondary walls of tracheids. The test specimens were taken from disks on stem wood of "Pinus koraiensis Sieb. et zucc". The method of measuring the fibirl angle was selected so-called "iodine method" that crystalline aggregates of iodine may be induced to form within the elongated interstices of the cellulose matrix of the secondary wall and that these elongated crystals are oriented parallel to the long axies of the fibrills of cellulose. The following conclusions may be drawn from the results of this investigation. 1) Gross average fibril angle was about
on stem wood. 2) Its values seem to be greater for earlywood (avg.
) than for latewood tracheids (avg.
) in normal wood. 3) According to the increase of annual ring from pith to barks the orientation of fibril angle seems to be decrease gradually in normal wood. 4) In the case of height variation in trees the sample trees have a tendency to increase the orientation fibril angle to the increase of tree height in stem.
A Study on Plywood Glue Extender from Bark and Particle Board Sander Dust

The shear strength of plywoods using Douglus-fir bark powder and particlebard sander dust(PSD), abandoned materials in plywood and particleboard industries, as extender to UF resin, was compared with that of plywoods using wheat flour. Extenders were mixed at the rate of 0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, and 30% of UF resin weight. In obtained results, the dry shear strength of all extended plywoods was highest at extending ratio 5% and the wet shear strength was highest at no extending and 5%. Douglas-fir bark powder-and PSD-extended plywoods had as high dry and wet shear strength as wheat flour-extended plywoods up to extending ratio 10% and 20% respectively. But at 300%, wheat flour-extended plywoods had higher shear strength. Douglas-fir bark powder and PSD size should have been reduced (enough to pass through 325 mesh screen) in order to develop the satisfactory mixing, spreading and plywood bond quality. But in this study the powders to pass through 100 mesh screen were used.
Analysis of Amino Acid and Vitamin in Oak Mushroom (Lentinus edodes Sing)

Oak mushroom (Lentinus edodes Sing.) has been used as one of vegetable foods for a long time, because it has particular odour, taste and abundant nutritive material. Its cultivation has been done extensively, but its checmical analysis of the components is curiously limited. It is the purpose of this study to analyse its component chemically and to get basic data in terms of nutrition science. The results are summarized as follows: 1. It was analysed that the total number of amino acid is 17 different kinds, mainly glutamic acid. 2. All the essential amino acids which are lecucine, lysine, threonine, tryptophan, valine, phenylalanine, isoleucine, tyrosine, and methionine were found in this chemical analysis. 3. The seven kinds of vitamins are analysed, which are A(
(riboflavin), C(ascorbic acid), E(
-tocopherol), Niacin, choline chloride.
