TWO CHARACTERIZATION THEOREMS FOR LIGHTLIKE HYPERSURFACES OF A SEMI-RIEMANNIAN SPACE FORM
Jin, Dae Ho ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 329~342
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.329
Abstract
We study lightlike hypersurfaces M of a semi-Riemannian space form
with a semi-symmetric non-metric connection whose structure vector field is tangent to M. Our main result is two characterization theorems for such a lightlike hypersurface.

CERTAIN FORMULAS INVOLVING EULERIAN NUMBERS
Choi, Junesang ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 373~379
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.373
Abstract
In contrast with numerous identities involving the binomial coefficients and the Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds, a few identities involving the Eulerian numbers have been known. The objective of this note is to present certain interesting and (presumably) new identities involving the Eulerian numbers by mainly making use of Worpitzky`s identity.

A NOTE ON FULLY IDEMPOTENT S-ACTS
Roueentan, Mohammad ; Ershad, Majid ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 381~388
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.381
Abstract
In this article we introduce the notion of fully idempotent acts and by this we give a characterization of commutative monoids over which all cyclic right acts are injective.

FIXED POINTS AND KERNEL OF THE PROJECTIVE HOLONOMY OF AN AFFINE MANIFOLD
Park, Kyeongsu ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 389~394
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.389
Abstract
It is an interesting problem to study fixed points of an element in the holonomy group of an affine manifold. We compute the limit of a sequence of projective transformations and verify relations between fixed points and kernels.

Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 395~406
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.395
Abstract
Generalized paper folding sequences
and
where
, and
, and with
are classified in this paper. We show that all generalized paper folding sequences
are classified into one type if we classify generalize paper folding sequences along with the numbers of downwards and upwards. In addition, we investigate the numbers of downwards and upwards in
and prove that all generalized paper folding sequences
are classified into two types.

AND ITS APPLICATIONS
Choi, Junesang ; Rathie, Arjun K. ; Chopra, Purnima ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 407~415
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.407
Abstract
Very recently, Rakha and Rathie obtained an extension of the classical Saalsch
tz`s summation theorem. Here, in this paper, we first give an elementary proof of the extended Saalsch
tz`s summation theorem. By employing it, we next present certain extenstions of Ramanujan`s result and another result involving hypergeometric series. The results presented in this paper are simple, interesting and (potentially) useful.

NEWTON`S METHOD FOR SOLVING A QUADRATIC MATRIX EQUATION WITH SPECIAL COEFFICIENT MATRICES
Seo, Sang-Hyup ; Seo, Jong-Hyun ; Kim, Hyun-Min ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 417~433
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.417
Abstract
We consider the iterative solution of a quadratic matrix equation with special coefficient matrices which arises in the quasibirth and death problem. In this paper, we show that the elementwise minimal positive solvent of the quadratic matrix equations can be obtained using Newton`s method if there exists a positive solvent and the convergence rate of the Newton iteration is quadratic if the Fr
chet derivative at the elementwise minimal positive solvent is nonsingular. Although the Fr
chet derivative is singular, the convergence rate is at least linear. Numerical experiments of the convergence rate are given.

REMARKS ON DIGITAL PRODUCTS WITH NORMAL ADJACENCY RELATIONS
Han, Sang-Eon ; Lee, Sik ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 515~524
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.515
Abstract
To study product properties of digital spaces, we strongly need to formulate meaningful adjacency relations on digital products. Thus the paper [7] firstly developed a normal adjacency relation on a digital product which can play an important role in studying the multiplicative property of a digital fundamental group, and product properties of digital coverings and digitally continuous maps. The present paper mainly surveys the normal adjacency relation on a digital product, improves the assertion of Boxer and Karaca in the paper [4] and restates Theorem 6.4 of the paper [19].

INTERVAL-VALUED FUZZY SUBGROUPS AND LEVEL SUBGROUPS
Lee, Jeong Gon ; Hur, Kul ; Lim, Pyung Ki ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 525~540
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.525
Abstract
We introduce the concept of level subgroups of an interval-valued fuzzy subgroup and study some of its properties. These level subgroups in turn play an important role in the characterization of all interval-valued fuzzy subgroup of a prime cyclic group.

NEW CARDINAL FUNCTIONS RELATED TO ALMOST CLOSED SETS
Cho, Myung Hyun ; Moon, Mi Ae ; Kim, Junhui ;
Honam Mathematical Journal, volume 35, issue 3, 2013, Pages 541~550
DOI : 10.5831/HMJ.2013.35.3.541
Abstract
In this paper, we strengthen the properties of approximation by points (AP) and weak approximation by points (WAP) considered by A. Pultr and A. Tozzi in 1993 to define
-AP and
-WAP for an infinite cardinal
. We also strengthen the properties of radial and pseudoradial to define
-radial and
-pseudoradial for an infinite cardinal
. These allow us to consider new cardinal functions related to almost closed sets; AP-number, WAP-number, radial number, and pseudoradial number. We study their properties and show the relationships between them. We also provide some examples around
-AP and
-WAP which are closely connected with
-radial and
-pseudoradial.
