Numerical Simulation of PFOA in Tokyo Bay using EMT-3D

A three-dimensional ecological model (EMT-3D) was applied to Tokyo Bay for the simulation of PFOA. EMT-3D was calibrated with seawater analysis data obtained from the study area in 2004. The simulated results of dissolved PFOA were in good agreement with the observed values, with a correlation coefficient(R) of 0.7115
0.8759 and a coefficient of determination
0.7672. The results of sensitivity analysis showed that partition rate, adsorption rate and settling rate were important factors for PFOA in particulate organic matter. In the case of PFOA in phytoplankton, bioconcentration factor, uptake rate and partition rate were important factors. Therefore, the parameters must be carefully considered in the modeling. In the case of 50% and 80% total loads reduction, concentration of dissolved PFOA was shown to be lower than 20ng/L and 10ng/L, respectively. In the case of reduction of loads from rivers in each prefecture, Tokyo prefecture was found to have the most influence on the change of dissolved PFOA in surface water while Chiba prefecture was found to have the most influnce on the change of dissolved PFOA in bottom water.
A Study on the Strategic Plan for Honam Sea Grant College Program

In this paper, the strategic plan for Honam Sea Grant College Program will be discussed. The main activity area of Hanam SGCP is research and development, education and public information, outreach. Honam SG theme areas and priorities of its activity area will be determined to enhance the sustainable use and conservation of marine and fishery resources for Honam region. In the education and public information, marine education program executed by MOMAF and relative institutions is introduced and suitable program direction will be suggested. The network composition between HSGCP and other institution in domestic or abroad is also tackled. An interchange of beneficial information is accomplished through the effective network with other organizations. Finally the result of survey to develop the pending problems of Honam area will be discussed.
Statistical Analysis of Marine Accidents by ANOVA

Marine accidents are increasing as time goes on, in spite of lots of efforts are given. Marine accidents can be classified 3 categories those are ship's condition, navigator's condition and weather condition. In this paper, statistical analysis were carried using marine accidents data from 1997 to 2006. In order to analyze accident rate by time zone, ship's speed and finding distant, SPSS variance analysis was carried out. Results are followed. There was significant difference between time zone 20
04 hours and other time zones. The accident rate in daytime was bigger than that at night. In case of the speed at collision, the speed of 5
10 knot has significant difference to other speed cases. In finding distant cases, the case of less than 1 mile has significant difference to other distant cases.
A Study on the Countermeasure of the Security Threats for Coastal Passenger Ships

In analyzing the security threats and their management system and making questions on security awareness to the concerned parties in the field of coastal passenger ship, we draw its security vulnerability and the features of security threats. The countermeasures and security system are proposed in order to response the diverse security threats and to set up the security culture of coastal passenger ship.
Evaluation of Operation Efficiency in the Korean SRRs using Ranking of DMUs with Fuzzy Data

This paper aims to measure and evaluate the technical efficiency with two inputs and four outputs with the use of fuzzy DEA in Korean RCC/RSC. Especially, this paper included not only the marine accident data which occurred for the analysis in particular but also the possibility data of a potential marine accident by an Environmental Stress value and analyzed the technical efficiency. And in this paper, asymmetrical triangular fuzzy number is presented about inputs/ outputs data and a procedure is suggested for it's solution. The basic idea is to transform the fuzzy CCR model into a crisp linear programming problem by applying an alternative
-cut approach. Also this paper propose a ranking method for fuzzy RCC/RSC using presented fuzzy DEA approach. The result, when
-cut is 0.5, efficiency priority is found in the order of YS, BS, MP, TY, JJ, PH, US, IC, SC, DH, GS, TA, WD RCC/RSC. Finally, Inefficiency TA, WD RCC/RSC have to benchmarking with reference sets.
Study on the Reduction of Wave Exciting Forces Acting on a Pontoon Type Floating Structure by Submerged Plate

Pontoon type very large floating structure has been considered and actively studied as one of the most important ocean space utilization. The hydroelastic displacement of the pontoon type floating structure in waves is the largest at its weather side. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics and effects of the submerged horizontal plate which is developed to reduce the wave exciting forces acting on the pontoon type floating structure using numerical analysis. The numerical method based on the finite difference method has been adopted and compared with the experimental data to confirm the reliability of it. We have performed the numerical computation of wave exciting forces acting on the pontoon type floating structure with/without submerged plate and discuss the results of simulation.
The Design of 800MHz Band Repeater Antenna for Ship Base Station Application

In this paper, we have designed microstrip antenna of 800[MHz] band. It will be able to integrate TRS(Trunked Radio System), GSM(Global System for Mobile telecommunication) band including the CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) band. we designed repeater and a base station antenna which is possible at the ship and marine of safety. It is improves a narrow bandwidth problem of microstrip antenna. It had L-shaped feeding structure at a rectangular patch and added the parallel L-slot that used a duplex resonance effect. Also for the improvement of profit the stack with the perpendicular. Designed frequency bandwith(VSWR 2:1) of the antenna showed good characteristic of 789
1046[MHz] to 292[MHz](36%). Also the E-plan and H-plan all profit 6.4[dBi] above, the 3[dB] beam width showed the characteristic over the E-plan
to be improved.
Evaluation of Mechanical Characteristic of Al Alloy for Ship's Welded with Various Welding Techniques

This paper investigated on mechanical characteristic of Al alloy for ship's welded with various welding techniques such as TIG, MIG welding and welding by robot. The yield strength, tensile strength and elongation in TIG welding present 83.9%, 64.6% and 21.9% compare to those in base metal, respectively. The MIG welding is carried out with welding eletrode of ER5183 and ER5356. The mechanical characteristics in ER5356 are improved at approximately 2-4% for ER5183. The mechanical properties of 5083O in welding by robot are better than those of 5456-H116.
A Study on the Remote Control System for Outboard Engine

Currently offshore fisheries are one of shrinking industries and fishermen are getting older. Moreover it is difficult to work fisheries for decreasing fishermen as the time goes. Two people per a boat work together at least for proper fisheries. If the unskilled fisherman boards on boat, it will make some troubles to speak each other and diminish the efficiency of working because one person should control the boat. So it need to study the remote control system for leasure and outboard engine that can control and work at the same time. The remote control system is consisted of engine, steering gear and forward reverse neutral gear controls. These three controls are made by position and speed control using DC motor, and microcontroller is used to control the engine speed and rudder angle. This system can be controled and worked alone and we tested the system at sea and confirmed that the system works properly.
A Study on the Luminosity Control of Bulbs by Using PIC

Recently, energy saving buildings are interested in many parts and many types of thermal insulating materials have been developed. The temperature and brightness of inside and outside building are influenced by weather change and sun's brightness and location. The location of building considering the natural daylight is an important parameter to build a building. To modeling the natural daylight, we used 342 electric bulbs which mean artificial daylight. All these bulbs are installed on dome shape frame. Especially it is focused on the luminosity control of each bulb in this paper. The luminosity of bulbs is controlled by phase control using several PIC microprocessors and triacs.
