Effects of Feedback Signals on DTV Repeaters

OCR(On channel repeater) provides the high frequency reuse efficiency for allocating frequency bands to repeaters because the frequency of input and output signals of OCRs is the same. However the oscillation probability of OCRs is high due to the same input and output frequency. In order to prevent a repeater from oscillating, we must keep the antenna isolation higher than the gain of the repeater with a some margin. In this paper we simulated the effects of the amplitude, phase and time delay of feedback signals (m the characteristics of non-regeneration OCR. Simulation results show that the highest probability of oscillation is occurred when the gain of a repeater is the same value of the isolation. From the simulation results, we know that the phase of feedback signals can be adjusted to reduce the possibility of oscillation if a non-regeneration repeater has a narrow operation bandwidth or a signal bandwidth is narrow. As the time delay increases, the probability of oscillation and the fluctuation of gain over a certain frequency band increase also. The effects of the amplitude and phase of feedback signals on S/N of 8-VSB signal for generation and non-generation repeater were tested. The measured results show that the set-top can receive 8-VSB signal when the received signal power is
higher than the noise power. When the isolation is almost same as the gain of the repeater, then the set-top can not receive 8-VSB signals due to the oscillation of the repeater. And the phase of feedback signals affects S/N at the output of the repeater when the isolation is
larger than the gain of the repeater. In this case the set-top can not receive 8-VSB signal of at
of the phase of feedback signals. However the phase of feedback signals can not affect the S/N of 8-VSB signals of the generation repeater because of the demodulation and modulation process of the generation repenter. The set-top can not receive 8-VSB signals when the amplitude of feedback signals is
larger than the wanted signal power at the input port of the repeater. It's because that the amplitude of feedback signals saturates the front end of the repeater.

Simple but Effective Vehicle Wheel Simulation based on Imaginary Wall and Impulse Model for Racing Game

Racing game requires plausible physics model that can be simulated in realtime. Minor artifacts in racing games are easily noticed, and any kinds of games should work interactively. It is difficult to model the accurate tire-ground physics and to integrate the model into realtime environments. In this paper, an efficient and effective 'imaginary wall' model was proposed. The method can be easily implemented because of the simplicity of the physical model used, and the result of the simulation is realistic enough for the racing games.
Designing a Tangible Virtual Heritage Environment for Collaborative Culture Experience

The tangible virtual heritage environment employs a tangible interface to increase social interaction and engages user's understanding of cultural heritage with the activities in the virtual environment. Tangible Moyangsung is an tangible virtual heritage environment of a Korean war-defensive castle Moyangsung, and it allows a group of users to collaboratively play the tangible interface for fortifying the broken walls. This paper suggests an overview of cultural meanings behind Moyangsung and represents the details in the design and implementation of the Tangible Moyangsung system. It will also discuss improvements and further research directions.
Research on the Development of an Integral Imaging System Framework and an Improved Viewpoint Vector Rendering Method Utilizing GPU

Computer-generated integral imaging system is an auto-stereoscopic display system that users can see and feel the stereoscopic images when they see the pre-rendered elemental images through a lens array. The process of constructing elemental images using computer graphics is called image mapping. Viewpoint vector rendering (VVR) method is one of the image mapping algorithm specially designed for real-time graphics applications, which would not be affected by the size of the rendered objects or the number of elemental lenses used in the integral imaging system. This paper describes a new VVR framework which improved its rendering performance considerably. It also compares the previous VVR implementation with the new VVR work utilizing GPU and shows that newer implementation shows pretty big improvements over the old method.
Construction of the Digital Logic Systems based on the Improved Automatic Theorem Proving Techniques over Finite Fields

This paper propose the method of constructing the Digital Logic Systems based on the Improved Automatic Theorem Proving Techniques(IATP) over Finite Fields. The proposed method is as following. First, we discuss the background and the important mathematical properties for Finite Fields. Also, we discuss the concepts of the Automatic Theorem Proving Techniques(ATP) including the syntactic method and semantic method, and discuss the basic properties for the Alf. In this step, we define several definitions of the IAIP, Table Pseudo Function Tab and Equal. Next, we propose the T-gate as Building Block(BB) and describe the mathematical representation for the notation of T-gate. Then we discuss the important properties for the T-gate. Also, we propose the several relationships that are Identity relationship, Constant relationship, Tautology relationship and Mod R cyclic relationship. Then we propose Mod R negation gate and the manipulation of the don't care conditions. Finally, we propose the algorithm for the constructing the method of the digital logic systems over finite fields. The proposed method is more efficiency and regularity than my other earlier methods. Thet we prospect the future research and prospects.
The Virtual Robot Arm Control Method by EMG Pattern Recognition using the Hybrid Neural Network System

This paper presents a method of virtual robot arm control by EMG pattern recognition using the proposed hybrid system. The proposed hybrid system is composed of the LVQ and the SOFM, and the SOFM is used for the preprocessing of the LVQ. The SOFM converts the high dimensional EMG signals to 2-dimensional data. The EMG measurement system uses three surface electrodes to acquire the EMG signal from operator. Six hand gestures can be classified sufficiently by the proposed hybrid system. Experimental results are presented that show the effectiveness of the virtual robot arm control by the proposed hybrid system based classifier for the recognition of hand gestures from EMG signal patterns.
An Authentication Protocol for Fast Soft Handover in Portable Internet

Portable Internet extended from wireless LAN has a large cell size, similar to a wireless mobile communication. and can provide the seamless service which offers middle-low speed mobility. IEEE 802.16e, the international standard of Portable Internet, uses PKMv2 protocol for authorization and key exchange between a MSS and a BS. This paper proposes a new protocol based on PKMv2, which can provide that MSS is able to do fast authorization with a new BS when soft handover is occurred in a MSS. Our protocol can carry out fast authorization because of reducing the number of messages and parameter exchange, public key encryption and signature in wireless network more than the previous works. It also prevents eavesdropping from an external attacker and keeps the security against impersonation attacks for both a MSS and a BS.
Controller for the inverted pendulum system

This Paper describes a systematic method for designing the
controller for the inverted pendulum which is a nonlinear and single-input double-outputs system. In particular, the open-loop system is conbined with a pre-filter to shape the open-loop transfer function for the sensitivity function ind the complementary sensitivity function to be kept the desirable frequency characteristics. Consequently, the loop shaping technique of the open-loop transfer function reduces the impacts of the model uncertainties, measurement noises and exogenous disterbances on the dynamic characteristics of the inverted pendulum. The results of simulation and experiment show the efficiency of the proposed control method comparing with conventional PID control method.
Semiconductor Characteristics and Design Methodology in Digital Front-End Design

The aim of this Paper is to describe the implementation of a low-power digital front-End Design (FED) that will act as the core of a stand-alone Power dissipation methodology. The design of digital integrated circuits is a large and diverse area, and we have chosen to focus on low power FED. Designs are made from synthesized logic, and we need to consider the low power digital FED including input clock, buffer, latches, voltage regulator, and capacitance-to-voltage counter which have been integrated onto hish bandwidth communication chips and system. These single- chip micro instruments, implemented in a 0.12um CMOS technology operate with a single 0.9V supply voltage, and can be used to monitor dynamic and static power dissipation, Vesture, acceleration junction temperature (Tj), etc.
A Study on the Characteristics of High Brightness of LCD-Backlight

In this paper, the brightmess from inside gas pressure, applied voltages, and operation frequency conditions was measured and the discharge characteristics in FFL(Flat Fluorescent Lamp) also were measured and discussed. The brightness and lifetime after vacuum exhaust (
and 1 hour) ate remarkably developed. When the gas pressure of lamp-inside is high, the brightness is also increased automatically. But for the stabilization of operation and driving voltage, the highest values of brightness at about 1000[V], 300[Torr] and 64(kHz) are measured and the results are shown as the optimized driving conditions for FFL.
Analysis of Dimension Dependent Subthreshold Swing for FinFET Under 20nm

In this paper, the subthreshold swing has been analyzed for FinFET under channel length of 20nm. The analytical current model has been developed , including thermionic current and tunneling current models. The potential distribution by Poisson equation and carrier distribution by Maxwell-Boltzman statistics are used to calculate thermionic emission current and WKB(Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin) approximation to tunneling current. The cutoff current is obtained by simple adding two currents since two current is independent. The subthreshold swings by this model are compared with those by two dimensional simulation and two values agree well. Since the tunneling current increases especially under channel length of 10nm, the characteristics of subthreshold swing is degraded. The channel and gate oxide thickness have to be fabricated as am as possible to decrease this short channel effects, and this process has to be developed. The subthreshold swings as a function of channel doping concentrations are obtained. Note that subthreshold swings are resultly constant at low doping concentration.
A Technique to Select Key-Frame for Identifying Harmful Video Images

A key-frame should be efficiently selected to distinguish bad information from the videos. A previous technique selecting a key-frame mostly consists of the transformation scene-centered. In the case of harmful videos containing the quaility of continuous changes, the technique makes the total rate be reduced by an unnecessary key-frame. This thesis suggests the technique selecting a key-frame, an entry of the distinguishing system by using the quality of changes between the frames. In the experiment of this technique, it was proved that over 90% of the bad information was distinguished by the selected key frame, and also time efficiency was proved by showing 68% of decrement compared to the numbers I-frame. Therefore, This technique makes the system efficient to distinguish bad information, and efficiently can contribute to the distribution of the healthy movie information.
A New Stereo Matching Algorithm

In this raper in order to recover sharp object boundaries we propose a new efficient stereo matching algorithm in which window size is varied to the distance from the boundaries of object. To this end, the processing region is divided into small subregions with a same area and the disparities of the center pixels in the subregions are calculated using a area-based algorithm with multiple windows. From the this disparity map we can find the edges of the contracted objects. The disparities of original image are obtained using the gradient constraint that means the disparity of the center pixel is similar to the ones of the remaining pixels in the subregion. from the experimental results it is found that the proposed algorithm is very good for recovering sharp object boundaries compared to the similar different algorithm.
Enhancement in the Performance of Capacitive Sensor for Oily Water Separator

Demand of enhanced bilge separation sensor system has been recently increased due to the severe regulation reinforcement of MEPC(Marine Environment Production Committee). Up to date bilge separation sensor has to be extremely accurate and highly reliable. To design and build such a bilge separator. a precise oily water separation level sensor that distinguishes oil from water is critical. Three dimensional simulations have been carried out to figure out the characteristics of capacitive level sensors, which grounds the finding of the parameters required to design the sensors. The parasitic capacitance problem which is inherent to capacitive level sensors has been taken care of. This paper concludes with the future research direction that can be pursued with the newly defined parameters of the capacitive level sensors.
The Environmental Impact Assessment of at Road Design in the Light of the Sense for the Real from the Virtual Reality

This paper is the environmental impact assessment of at road design in the light of the sense for the real from the virtual reality. For In this papers, This study developed 3D-model and virtual reality contents by suggesting the environmental impact assessment based on GIS in the road design. Ant through this process, it's possible to visualize the environmental impact assessment by constructing the 3D-model and simulation. The 3D-model can be a method to show the road effectively by maximizing the road's shape visually after the construction. The main construction which composes polyhedron model that is generated from digital map and aerial photo is built by mapping the real texture, so the Sense for the Real was more heightened. Through this study, it must be made to shorten a long time exhausting period of conference and construct more real road after due scene consideration by specific and various low-cost strategy in the environmental impact assessment afterwards.
Computational view-point reconstruction method in three-dimensional integral imaging using lenslet array model

In this paper, we propose a method to reconstruct resolution-improved 3D images computationally based on lenslet array model in integral imaging technique and analyze its performance. While conventional view-point reconstruction method has low resolution based on pinhole array model, the proposed method can obtain resolution-improved 3D images because of extracting multiple pixels from elemental images by use of lenslet way model. To show the usefulness of proposed method, we perform computational experiments and present its results.
Improvement of Bit Error Rate using the Optimal Parameters of Optical Phase Conjugator in WDM System with Non Zero - Dispersion Shifted Fiber

The numerical methods of finding out the optimal position of optical phase conjugator (OPC) and the optimal fiber dispersions are prosed, which are able to effectively compensate overall channels in
Gbps WDM system with non zero - dispersion shifted fiber (NZ-DSF) as an optical fiber. And BER characteristics in the system with two induced optimal parameters are compared with those in the system with the currently used mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) in order to confirm the availability of the proposed methods. It is confirmed that the applying two induced optimal parameters into WDM system contribute to reduce power penalty to 4 times than that of WDM system with the conventional MSSI. Thus, the methods proposed in this research will be expected to alternate with the method of making a symmetrical distribution of power and local dispersion in real optical link which generates a serious problem if it was not made but it is the condition in the case of applying the OPC into multi-channels WDM system.
Performance Improvement of OFDM based DSRC System adopting Selective Pilot Overlay Channel Estimation Scheme

In this paper we propose the communication system model which improve the performance of OFDM based DSRC system by adopting selective pilot overlay channel estimation scheme. Assuming AWGN and fading channel environment, the performance of OFDM system according to IEEE802.11p physical layer being standardized for OFDM based DSRC is obtained, and the performance of proposed OFDM based DSRC system adopting selective pilot overlay channel estimation scheme is compared with the conventional system. from the simulation results, it is shown that proposed system is superior to conventional one due to reducing channel estimation error.
Improved Differential Detection Scheme of Space-Time Trellis Coded MDPSK For MIMO

Recently, STC techniques have been considered to be candidate to support multimedia services in the next generation mobile radio communications and have been developed the many communications systems in order to achieve the high data rates. In this paper, we Nose the Trellis-Coded Differential Space Time Modulation system with multiple symbol detection. The Trellis-code performs the set partition with unitary group codes. The Viterbi decoder containing new branch metrics is introduced in order to improve the bit error rate (BER) in the differential detection of the unitary differential space time modulation. Also, we describe the Viterbi algorithm in order to use this branch metrics. Our study shows that such a Viterbi decoder improves BER performance without sacrificing bandwidth and power efficiency.
An Effective Binarization Method for Character Image

Image binarization is an important preprocessing to identify objects of interest by dividing pixels into background and objects. Usually binarization methods are classified into global and local thresholding approaches. In this paper, we propose an efficient and adaptive binarization method for the character segmentation by combining both advantages of the global and the local thresholding methods. Experimental results with the korean character images present that the proposed method binarizes character image faster and better than other local binarization methods.

Lip Contour Extraction Using Active Shape Model Based on Energy Minimization

In this paper, we propose an improved Active Shape Model for extracting lip contour. Lip deformation is modeled by a statistically deformable model based Active Shape Model. Because each point is moved independently using local profile information in Active Shape Model, many error may happen. To use a global information, we define an energy function similar to an energy function in Active Contour Model, and points are moved to positions at which the total energy is minimized. The experiments have been performed for many lip images of Tulip 1 database, and show that our method extracts lip shape than a traditional ASM more exactly.
A sensor controller for map building of home service robot using low cost PSD sensor

Home service robot must recognize and build map for indoor and components of the house such as furniture and chair etc. The previous researcher has developed a indoor map building system by using CCD camera and ultra sonic sensor. %no stems have some problem in such a way that (1) a distun resolution can be changed according to the number of pixel when we use a CCD camera system, (2) a measured distance can be decreased when it transmitted to the rubber because of being absorbed the sound energy. This paper represents an intelligent sensor controller of module has been developed by using optic PSD(Position Sensitive Detector) sensor any at a low price. To deduce the switching noise from beam power module and diffused reflection noise, we proposed a heuristic soft filter. The performance of the developed system was compared with ultra sonic sensor system by detecting the indoor wall environment. Some experiments were illustrated for the validity of the developed system.
Development of a Wireless Sensor Network Node with Dual Interfaces of UHF Radio and Bluetooth

The researches about the hardware and the software implementing ubiquitous sensor network have great rush in recent years. This paper deals the development of a sensor node with the dual interface which also has an RF wireless interface while has an Bluetooth interface used widely in present. This sensor node includes a Atmeg32 microcontroller, a Bluetooth module, a RF module. a temperature-humidity sensor. and I also develop the F/Ws controlling each modules with C language using GCC compiler. The sensor node developed can reaches 15m with Bluetooth interface and 60m with RF interface. It works stably with the voltage above 5V and it consumes currents 21mA average in idle mode, 63mA average in active mode.
A study on remote video transmit technique of mobile phone

Video transfer problem on mobile is transfer speed and controls. Compression technique is needed to transfer videos and H.263 codec is used for compression, effectively controls camera on remote places, increased the real time connecting users. In this paper, we could solve the problem that use existent RF, and could transfer the most suitable image and audio.
Ubiquitous Sensor Network based Localization System for Public Guide Robot

With social interest, there hie been a lot of research on the Service Robot but now we are faced with the limitation of single platform. The alternative plan is the Ubiquitous-based Service Robot connected with a Ubiquitous network to overcome this limitation. Systems using RFID(Radio frequency Identification) and supersonic waves appeared for functions such as recognition of surroundings through Ubiquitous Sensor Networks. This was applied to the real robot and we have got good results. However, this has several limitations to applying to low power-based Sensor Network For example, if RFID uses a passive Sensor, the rate of recognition with the distance is limited. In case of supersonic waves, high power is required to drive them. Therefore, we intend to develop RSSI position recognition system on the basis of embodying a Sensor Network Module in this thesis. This RSSI position recognition system only measures RSSI of signals from each sensor nod. then converts them into distances and calculates the position. As a result, we can still use low power-based Sensor Network and overcome the limitation according to distance as planning Ad-Hoc Network
