Level Controller On Optical Signal of 40 Channel

In this paper, we studied about the level controller of optical signal with 40 channels by 4 VOA(Variable Optical Attenuator) with 12 channels. Total 8 microprocessors control 40 chamois for control of optical signal level so that a microprocessor controls 5 channels each. Moreover a microprocessor was added to communicate with outside and transfer instruction to each microprocessor. The output optical signal is measured and VOA is controlled as a result of it. The VOA outputs is inputted into PD(Photo Detector) at once. We could control multi-channel optical signals simply like this.
Blue Laser Generated by Sum Frequency

We have chained 459nm blue laser radiation generated by intracavity sum frequency generation( SFG ) due to the mixing of the 1064 nm laser output of a Nd:YVO4 pumped by diode and the 809nm radiation from higg-power semiconductor laser(500mW). The maximum blue output power of 0.95 mW was obtained using 400 mW input power of semiconductor laser at the type II phase matching condition (
). The threshold input power of blue laser generation was 120 mW.
Implementation of Recursive DSP Algorithms Based on an Optimal Multiprocessor Scheduler

This paper describes a systematic process which can generate a complete circuit specification efficiently for a given recursive DSP algorithm based on an optimal multiprocessor scheduler. The process is composed of two states: scheduling and circuit synthesis. The scheduling part accepts a fully specified flow graph(FSFG) as an input, and generates an optimal synchronous multiprocessor schedule. Then the circuit synthesis part translates the modified schedule into a complete circuit diagram including a control specification. The circuit diagram can be applied to a silicon compiler for VLSI layout generation. This paper illustrates the whole process with an example of a second order Gray-Market lattice filter.
A Study on the Protocol Design for an Underwater Acoustic Communication

This paper proposes the new efficient system design strategies for the acoustic-based underwater communication system and it's media access protocol, which make it possible to control the multiple vehicles for underwater duty working by the surface plant. For an approach to implementation of the system, it is inevitable to establish acoustic-based underwater digital communication network to exchange the information between a surface plant and multiple vehicles in underwater.
Analysis of Phase Noise Effects in OFDM Transmit Diversity Systems

In this paper, the phase noise effects of OFDM transmission diversity systems were analyzed. Since OFDM communication system is very sensitive to phase noise, the system performance may degrade seriously due to the increase of subcarrier interferences and system noise. Therefore, The phase noise model was suggested and its distribution and power were varied to investigate the effects of phase noise on the system performance. The degree of the system performance degradation depends on the specific diversity structures of transmission systems. Here, the performances of OFDM systems with two and three antennas transmission diversity were analyzed and compared with that of systems without transmission diversity as the phase noise characteristics varied.
A Study on the Interference of HF Maritime Mobile Telecommunication by the PLC

The revision of radio waves act, which took effect on July 1,2005, widened the bandwidth of PLC from
. This high upper limit of frequency may cause the interference in HF wireless communications. From this point of view, the goal of this research is to suggest the estimation method of whether-or-not the interference occurs and furthermore offer countermeasures to avoid it hereafter. Ministry of Information and Communication Radio Research Laboratory(MIC-RRL)has been researching for the interference and devoting themselves to turn out how much it affects to HF wireless communications since the revision took effect. This research suggests some estimation methods with receivers, signal generators, or SINAD(Signal to Noise and Distortion) Meter which is so suitable for the RF environment that we can overcome the existing limit to the EMC environment. In addition, this research is focused on securing the environment for wireless communications by establishing the safety zone or suggesting the ways to prohibit the use of the bandwidth, which may cause serious interference, in order to minimize the effect of PLC on HF maritime mobile telecommunications.
A Medium Access Control Protocol for Sensor Data in Powerline Communications

With the ever increasing demand for data communication methods, powerline communication has become in interesting alternative method for data communication in home networking. For the purpose of home safety, several sensors will be installed at door, windows, gas alarm, etc. When considering home networking, the sensor data as well as other types of data should be supported in powerline communication. Usually the sensor data do not have priority over isochronous traffics (voice, video traffic), but in the case of urgent situation at home, the data of sensor being aware of the situation should be transmitted earlier than others. The objective in this paper is to develop a method for supporting an urgent data in home networking using powerline communication. We propose a modified algorithm of HomePlug 1.0 and show the results of computer simulation.
An improved performance of TCP traffic connection congestion control in wireless networks

In this paper we verified that the window based TCP performance of throughput can be improved by the traffic connection efficiency. and have studied the performance of traffic congestion control that is controlling transmission rate. In wireless network, the bidirectional node is run by estimating the usage rate of link of error control idle and the throughput is shown by transmitting segments. The throughput rate shows almost no delay due to the bidirectional traffic connection efficiency up to the allowable point as increasing the transport rate by the critical value, depending on the size of end-to-end node queue of the increase of transport rate. This paper reports the performance improvement as the number of feedback connection traffic congestion control increases because of the increase of the number of asynchronous transport TCP connections.
Methods of constructing optimal topology to improve performance of STP

In STP, network performance differs depending on topology configuration. Therefore, we need to configure right topology for the optimal efficiency of networking. This paper suggest the optimal topology configuration for efficient networking between ethernet switchs. It finds out the best topology configuration by calculation mathematical model which uses transmission time between root switch and other switchs in the same domain. And it also analysed performance difference on locations of root switch. Through the performance analysis, we could conclude that placing the root switch in the center is the most efficient.
An Adaptive PID Controller Design based on a Gradient Descent Learning

PID controller has been widely used in industry. Because it has a simple structure and robustness to modeling error. But it is difficult to have uniformly good control performance in system parameters variation or different velocity command. In this paper, we propose an adaptive PID controller based on a gradient descent learning. This algorithm has a simple structure like conventional PID controller and a robustness to system parameters variation and different velocity command. To verify performances of the proposed adaptive PID controller, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor is performed. The simulation results show that the proposed control systems are effective in tracking a command velocity under system parameters variation.
A Design of a Cellular Neural Network for the Real Image Processing

The cellular neural networks have the structure that consists of an array of the same cell which is a simple processing element, and each of the cells has local connectivity and space invariant template properties. So, it has a very suitable structure for the hardware implementation. A Hardware Architecture of SEED Algorithm with 320 Mbps

This paper describes the architecture for reducing its size and increasing the computation rate in implementing the SEED algorithm of a 128-bit block cipher, and the result of the circuit design. In order to increase the computation rate, it is used the architecture of the pipelined systolic array. This architecture is a simple thing without involving any buffer at the input and output part. By this circuit, it can be recorded 320 Mbps encryption rate at 10 MHz clock. We designed the circuits with goals of the high-speed computations and the simplified structures.
A Study on Phase-Noise and Jitter due to the Power Supply Noise of the CMOS Ring Oscillator

Models for the phase noise and jitter of the ring oscillator with the power supply noise are suggested and verified by simulations. The power supply noise is converted into the phase-noise by the narrow band phase modulation. The phase-noise appears as sideband frequencies apart from the center frequency of the ring oscillator as much as the frequency of the power supply noise. A jitter model describing the linear relation of jitter with the amplitude of the power supply noise is suggested and verified by simulation.

The Faulty Detection of COG Using Image Registration

A line scan camera is applied to enhance COG(Chip On Glass) inspection accuracy to be measured a few micro unit. The foreign substance detection among various faulty factors has been the most difficult technology in the faulty automatic inspection step since COG pattern is very miniature and complexity. In this paper, we proposed two step area segmentation template matching method to increase matching speed. Futhermore to detect foreign substance(such as dust, scratch) with a few micro unit, the new method using gradient mask and AND operation was proposed. The proposed 2 step template matching method increased 0.3 - 0.4 second matching speed compared with conventional correlation coefficient. Also, the proposed foreign substance applied masks enhanced
faulty detection rate compared with conventional no mask application method.

Low Power High Frequency Design for Data Transfer for RISC and CISC Architecture

3X Serial GF(
) Multiplier Architecture on Polynomial Basis Finite Field

Efficient finite field operation in the elliptic curve (EC) public key cryptography algorithm, which attracts much of latest issues in the applications in information security, is very important. Traditional serial finite multipliers root from Mastrovito's serial multiplication architecture. In this paper, we adopt the polynomial basis and propose a new finite field multiplier, inducing numerical expressions which can be applied to exhibit 3 times as much performance as the Mastrovito's. We described the proposed multiplier with HDL to verify and evaluate as a proper hardware IP. HDL-implemented serial GF (Galois field) multiplier showed 3 times as fast speed as the traditional serial multiplier's adding only partial-sum block in the hardware. So far, there have been grossly 3 types of studies on GF(
) multiplier architecture, such as serial multiplication, array multiplication, and hybrid multiplication. In this paper, we propose a novel approach on developing serial multiplier architecture based on Mastrovito's, by modifying the numerical formula of the polynomial-basis serial multiplication. The proposed multiplier architecture was described and implemented in HDL so that the novel architecture was simulated and verified in the level of hardware as well as software.
Design and Implementation of 3DES crypto-algorithm with Pipeline Architecture

Symmetric block ciper algorithm consists of a chains of operations such as permutation and substitution. There exists four kinds of operation mode, CBC, ECB, CFB, and OFB depending on the operation paradigm. Since the final ciper text is obtained through the many rounds of operations, it consumes much time. This paper proposes a pipelined design methodology which can improve the speed of crypto operations in ECB mode. Because the operations of the many rounds are concatenated in serial and executed concurrently, the overall computation time can be reduced significantly. The experimental result shows that the method can speed up the performance more than ten times.
Performance Analyses of Encryption Accelerator based on 2-Chip Companion Crypto ASICs for Economic VPN System

This paper describes about the design concept and the architecture of an economic VPN system which can perform fast crypto operations with cheap cost. The essence of the proposed system architecture is consisting of the system with two companion chips dedicated to VPN: one chip is a multi-purpose network processor for security machine and the other is a crypto acceleration chip which encrypt and decrypt network packets in a high speed. This study also addresses about some realizations that is required for fast prototyping such as the porting of an operating system, the establishment of compiler tool chain, the implementation of device drivers and the design of IPSec security engine. Especially, the second chip supports the most time consuming block cipher algorithms including 3DES, AES, and SEED and its performance was evaluated.
Development of Encryption System for Facsimile

We developed the facsimile encryption system that could send/receive the cipher text and plain text automatically. This facsimile encryption system is adopting the 128bits SEED encryption algorithm, 1024bits modular and 256bits exponential Diffie-Hellman key exchange method. We can reduce the cipher text transmitting time by developing the Dual Facsimile Server, it can make the real time encryption communication. Key is safely exchanged by the exchanging the listed serial numbers when the Diffie-Hellman key exchanging.
An Analysis of characteristic response for Optical Directional Coupler with Perturbation Phenomenon

As for the characteristic of elements for a lot of communication used in light communication systems, it is affected according to structure of directional coupler. We carried out study on a characteristic of the directional coupler which had waveguide structure to have perturbation phenomenon in this paper and ran simulation on the characteristic that we changed structure of directional coupler too, and was got. Confirmation was able to do that it operated with an optical filter, and the directional coupler which added waveguide structure to produce perturbation phenomenon by the results was able to confirm what we adjusted duty ratio of waveguide structure too, and operated with a more excellent optical filter. Through simulation, the case that duty ratio changed than the case that duty ratio of waveguide structure was
was able to get an excellent answer characteristic of a -l8dB degree.
Design and Performance Evaluation of CCK Rake Modem in Telematics Communication Environments

In this paper, we design the complementary code keying (CCK) modulation/demodulation structure that is proposed in the IEEE 820.11b and IEEE 802.11g. And, this paper proposes the CCK Rake receiver to be fitted for the large delay spread case like the inter-vehicle communications. The channel estimation of each path in the multipath Rayleigh fading channel is done using the packet preamble and, the combining of the multipath signals in the coherent CCK Rake receiver is achieved as the symbol level combining type. In this paper, in order to validate the utilization of CCK modem for the inter-vehicle communications of the telematics communications, we suggest the CCK modem performance that is made for the multipath Rayleigh fading channel with the mobile speed of 300km/h.
A Study on Rectangular Slot Antenna with Slots for Dual Band Operation

In this paper, a CPW fed rectangular slot antenna loaded with two slots for dual band operation is presented. This antenna operates at about 2.1GHz and 3.3GHz with the broad bandwidth at these frequencies. a CPW inset structure is used to match the antenna at the two seperated frequencies. Some prototypes of the proposed dual frequency antenna have been implemented. Experimental results are presented and discussed.

As a result, it was measured that the superior characteristic of wideband showing approximately 1 GHz (
) of input return loss (VSWR < 2) in resonant frequency of 5 GHz band. And the antenna gain is 13 dBi, in both the E-plane and H-plane measured at 5.15 GHz, 5.35 GHz, 5.50 GHz, and 5.87 GHz.
Program Development for Wideband Channel Sounding and Analysis

In this paper, a program that can be utilized to measure and analyze radio propagation characteristics is developed. This program is able to control the measurement instruments including spectrum analyzer through GPIB interface and analyze the measured data to yield mean excess delay and RMS delay spread. The measured path loss can be compared with theoretical value in free space or inside a tunnel. The measured and analyzed results can also be presented in the forms of graphs. As these tasks can be conducted on the spot of the measurements, this program is very helpful in performing and verifying the measurements immediately. In this thesis radio propagation characteristics with frequency bands of 2.45 and 5.8GHz in subway tunnels are measured by using the program. Path loss and delay spread in subway tunnel is measured and compared according to the form of antenna beam and LOS(Line of Sight) and N-LOS(Non-Line of Sight).
Design of a Tapered Slot Array Antenna with Uniplanar Feed

In this paper, a design of V-type Linearly Tapered Slot Antenna(V-LTSA) with uniplanar microstrip-to-coplanar stripline(CPS) transitions is presented. The effect of reducing and increasing with taper width G, teper length L and opening angle are also considered at 5.8 GHz. In the result of a simulation by using CST-MWS, the return loss characteristic came very wide band about 4.3GHz, or 1.8 Octave. Proposed V-LTSA design schemes are expected to be a good antenna for microwave and millimeter-wave communcations.
A Study on Improving Driving Stability System by Yaw Moment Control

This paper proposed yaw moment control scheme using braking and active rear wheel steering for improving driving stability especially in high speed driving. Its characteristics the unified chassis control system of two equipment that 4WS(4 Wheel Steering) and ESP(Electronic Stability Program). in this study the performance of the vehicle was compared each equipment. And conventional ABS and TCS can only possible to control the longitudinal movement of braking equipment and drive which can only available to control of longitudinal direction. There after new braking system ESP was developed, which controls both of longitudinal and lateral, with adding of the function of controlling Active Yaw Moment. On this paper, we show about not only designing of improved braking and steering system through establishing of the integrated control system design of 4WS and ESP but also designing of the system contribute to precautious for advanced vehicle stability problem.
Pattern Classification Based on the Selective Perception Ability of Human Beings

We propose a pattern classification model using a selective perception ability of human beings. Generally, human beings recognize an object by putting a selective concentration on it in the region of interest. Much better classification and recognition could be possible by adapting this phenomenon in pattern classification. First, the pattern classification model creates some reference cluster patterns in a usual way. Then it generates an SPM(Selective Perception Map) that reflects the mutual relation of the reference cluster patterns. In the recognition phase, the model applies the SPM as a weight for calculating the distance between an input pattern and the reference patterns. Our experiments show that the proposed classifier with the SPM acquired the better results than other approaches in pattern classification.
An Efficient Lane Detection Based on the Optimized Hough Transform

In this paper, we propose OHT(optimized nough Transform) algorithm for the lane extraction. Input image is changed into 256 gray revel image.
