Broadband antennas have late-time ringing by multi-reflections between feed points and 0pen ends of the antennas, which indicates the narrowband nature of the antenna. The resistive loading has been used to reduce the late time ringing that is important for ground penetrating radar and resonance detection systems in order to prevent masking of target. Design of the Transceiver Module for RF Data Communication in ISM Frequency Band

In this paper, we designed radio data transceiver to control the machine or equipments for automation in local areas. The designed module can transmit data with 153.6Kbps and uses 424MHz RF carrier to transmit data in the ISM band regulation. It has a processor, CPLD chip of the Altera Company, to control the data in transmitting and receiving. The processor is implemented by programming with VHDL. We will make this module with compact in dimension and higher data rate and apply to RFID technology.
High-speed Intra Prediction Method for H.264/AVC

Recently, the H.264/AVC, which was standardized jointly by ISO/IEC and ITU-T, has been expanding its applications in various areas. This standard includes many advanced component techniques compared to the existing MPEG techniques. Intra prediction which is to predict the spatial data in an intra frame in one of them. But it has a serious defect that it needs large amount of calculation. To overcome this defect, this paper proposed a method to reduce about 60% of the amount of calculation with only O.02dB of image quality degradation. This method determines the calculation directly without much pre-calc cluation process by referring the left block(s) and upper blocks(s) that were processd already. Comparing to the exi sting methods, its image quality degradation is so small that it is expected to be used in many areas. Especially in the wireless appliances such as DMB phone which has restricted power source, we expect it would be used efficiently.
Characteristics of Sign Distribution in Underground Space

We Studied the method of structuring the sign system for pedestrians in the underground space by investigating and analyzing the sign system at Tae-jon Underground Commercial Area in Korea by 1) classifying the signs by types and comparing their numder for each type in sections, 2) classiflying the signs by the points of installation, types, functions and contents of information and comparing their numbers, 3) classifying the signs by their height and comparing by the points of installation, and 4) classifying the signs by their points of installation finding patterns. As a result, we found out that the current pedestrian signs in Tae-jon Underground Commercial Area could by classified into those installted with a certain regularity and those concentrated in at certain points. We also found out that there were many problems with the current signs system. The big gap of the type and numble of the signs, concentration of the signs at the gate (entrance), and the big gap of the function of the signs by their points of installation. And the gap of the signs by the number of installation is big between the North side and the South side. Most of signs concentrated in the South side show the problems of installation attached by the types and quantity of information. We suggest that type of information has consistency by posting of signs, at the same time, the necessary information should be offered in order for the pedestrians to easily recognize as they more in the Underground space.
Design of High-Speed 2-D State-Space Digital Filters Based on a Improved Branch-and-Bound Algorithm

This paper presents an efficient design method of 2-D state-space digital filter based on an improved branch-and -bound algorithm. The resultant 2-D state-space digital filters whose coefficients are represented as the sum of two power-of-two terms, are attractive for high-speed operation and simple implementation. The feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated by several experiments. The results show that the approximation error and group delay characteristic of the resultant filters are similar to those of the digital filters which designed in the continuous coefficient space.
Pointer Adjustment Jitter Reduction Method Using Bit Stuf fing Technique

In pointer adjustment systems, 3 byte SDH clocks are controlled for synchronization. Therefore large jitter is generated in that systems. Bit stuffing technique was introduced as method for reducing pointer adjustment jitter. However, the jitter generated in this systems is also not so small. In this paper, the problems in the bit leaking system are analyzed and new bit stuffing technique is introduced to reduce the jitter sufficiently.
Performance Analysis of Reed-Solomon Coded M-ary FSK Modulation in Nakagami Fading Channels

In this paper we analyze the performance improvement of the M-ary FSK systems for low power and low data rate applications. This contribution presents a unified analysis of its MRC diversity, uncoded and performance in A WGN, m=2, m=3, Rayleigh and one sided Gaussian fading channels using optimum noncoherent demodulation with Reed-Solomon(RS) codes. The results of this paper should be useful as benchmarks of obtainable performance and as a reference for validating the results of simulation studies when slow fading models are applicable.

Adaptive Video Watermarking Using Half-cell Motion Vector

Header compression scheme is suggested as a solution to reduce the inefficient overhead of general packet stream data. Especially, it is shown that there are more overhead rate for real-time media stream links such as voice because of its short payload size, and it is possible to get higher bandwidth efficiency using the header compression scheme. There are two kinds of error recovery in header compression such as Periodic Header Refresh(PHR) and Header Request(HR) schemes. In this paper, we analyze the performance of these two compression recovery schemes, and some results such as the overhead rate, bandwidth gain and bandwidth efficiency(BE) are presented.

In this paper, I propose a video watermaking method using adaptive threshold value and half-cell motion vector. Conventional method cause a lot of change of motion vectors and bring about a falling-off in invisibility, because it search embedding condition about whole macroblocks and watermarks are embedded in arbitrary motion vectors. Group oriented multicast service is a prerequisite for the current application system for remote lecture and customer service. IP multicast is used to be generally accepted as an internet standard. IP multicast which is designed to support network based replication model can efficiently use host and network resource, however it has some weak points that it has to support IP multicast in the internet by adding multicast-capable internet infrastructure such as router and is vulnerable to security by using public IP address for group identifier. Therefore we propose the trigger based application level multicast model that can enhance both scalability and security by separating the functions, which send and receive message to solve these problems. Our suggested model is expected to ensure the promotion of quality of service and reliability.
Error Recovery Schemes with IPv6 Header Compression

This paper presented a hardware implementation of ARIA, which is a Korean standard l28-bit block cryptography algorithm. In this work, ARIA was designed technology-independently for application such as ASIC or core-based designs. ARIA algorithm was fitted in FPGA without additional components of hardware or software. It was confirmed that the rate of resource usage is about 19% in Altera EPXAl0F1020CI and the resulting design operates stably in a clock frequency of 36.35MHz, whose encryption/decryption rate was 310.3Mbps. Consequently, the proposed hardware implementation of ARIA is expected to have a lot of application fields which need high speed process such as electronic commerce, mobile communication, network security and the fields requiring lots of data storing where many users need processing large amount of data simultaneously.

Design and Implementation of Spatial Data Compression Methods for Improvement of Mobile Transmission Efficiency

In the mobile vector map service environments, there are problems like as terminal resource shortage and transmission delay for the characteristics of large spatial data. For the normal mobile vector map services, some techniques are required to overcome the problems. Spatial data compression approach is one of the techniques to reduce the bandwidth and the waiting time at clients. However it also must be considered that the effect on total efficiency caused by the overhead of compression and restoration time. This thesis proposes two spatial data compression techniques. First approach is to get relative coordinates to first coordinate of each object. The other approach is to compute client coordinates before transmission. Through the implementation and experiments, proposed techniques are evaluated the compression effects and efficiency.
Delay optimization algorithm on FPGAs

In this paper, we propose a combined synthetic algorithm of the logic level for high speed FPGA design. The algorithm divides critical path to reduce delay time and generates a circuit which the divided circuits execute simultaneously. This kernel selection algorithm is made by C-langage of SUN UNIX. We compare this with the existing FlowMap algorithm. This proposed algorithm shows result on 33.3% reduction of delay time by comparison with the existing algorithm.

A non-overlap boosted-clock charge pump(NBCCP) with internal pumping capacitor, an advantageous circuit from a minimizing point of TFT-LCD driver IC module, is proposed in this paper. By using the non-overlap boosted-clock swinging in 2VDC voltage, the number of pumping stages is reduced to half and a back current of pumping charge from charge pumping node to input stage is also prevented compared with conventional cross-coupled charge pump with internal pumping capacitor. As a result, pumping current of the proposed NBCCP circuit is increased more than conventional cross-coupled charge pump, and a layout area is decreased. A proposed DC-DC converter for TFT-LCD driver IC is designed with
triple-well CMOS process and a test chip is in the marking.

LMS based Iterative Decision Feedback Equalizer for Wireless Packet Data Transmission

In many current wireless packet data system, the short-burst transmissions are used, and training overhead is very significant for such short burst formats. So, the availability of the short training sequence and the fast converging algorithm is essential in the adaptive equalizer. In this paper, the new equalizer algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of a MTLMS (multiple-training least mean square) based DFE (decision feedback equalizer)using the short training sequence. In the proposed method, the output of the DFE is fed back to the LMS (least mean square) based adaptive DEF loop iteratively and used as an extended training sequence. Instead of the block operation using ML (maximum likelihood) estimator, the low-complexity adaptive LMS operation is used for overall processing. Simulation results show that the perfonnance of the proposed equalizer is improved with a linear computational increase as the iterations parameter in creases and can give the more robustness to the time-varying fading.
Development of RFID systems with integrated location data for efficient logistics information systems

In this paper, we have developed RFID systems with integrated tag location data for efficient logistics information systems. These are consist of RFID readers with GPS module and RFID networks to service tag location data. The developed RFID readers can get location informations Of the tags, transfer them high speed by TCP/IP protocols, and operate as web servers. And we presented a simple service network system based on EPC network to service both location and tag data. The proposed system can be applicable to tracebility or finding locations of the products.
A Study on the Development for the Future Compressor Cylinder Block Using of Cold & Hot Forging Method

Aluminum alloys are gaining increased acceptance in the automotive and electronic industeries and cold & hot forging is the most efficient method of manufacturing such mass produced parts. This study has been investigated the microstructures and mechanical properties of A6061(Al-1.2Mg-0.8Si) alloy fabricated by cold & hot forging process for development of the future compressor block. The microstructure of cold & hot forginged specimen were composed of eutectic structure aluminum solid solution and
precipitates. The tensile strength of as-solid solution treatment A6061 alloy revealed 291.7MPa. It was fabricated that a trial future compressor cylinder block using cold & hot forging.
Feature Parameter Extraction and Speech Recognition Using Matrix Factorization

In this paper, we propose new speech feature parameter using the Matrix Factorization for appearance part-based features of speech spectrum. The proposed parameter represents effective dimensional reduced data from multi-dimensional feature data through matrix factorization procedure under all of the matrix elements are the non-negative constraint. Reduced feature data presents p art-based features of input data. We verify about usefulness of NMF(Non-Negative Matrix Factorization) algorithm for speech feature extraction applying feature parameter that is got using NMF in Mel-scaled filter bank output. According to recognition experiment results, we confirm that proposed feature parameter is superior to MFCC(Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient) in recognition performance that is used generally.
The System for Predicting the Traffic Flow with the Real-time Traffic Information

One of the common services of telematics is the car navigation that finds the shortest path from source to target. Until now, some routing algorithms of the car navigation do not consider the real-time traffic information and use the static shortest path algorithm. In this paper, we prosed the method to predict the traffic flow in the future. This prediction combines two methods. The former is an accumulated speed pattern, which means the analysis results for all past speeds of each road by classfying the same day and the same time inteval. The latter is the Kalman filter. We predicted the traffic flows of each segment by combining the two methods. By experiment, we showed our algorithm gave better precise predicition than only using accumulated speed pattern that is used commonly. The result can be applied to the car navigation to support a dynamic shortest path. In addition, it can give users the travel information to avoid the traffic congestion areas.
Comparison of Intelligent Color Classifier for Urine Analysis

Urine analysis is basic test in clinical medicine using visual examination by expert nurse. Recently, this test is measured by automatic urine analysis system. But, this system has different results by each instrument. So, a new classification algorithm is required for accurate classify and urine color collection. In this paper, a intelligent color classifier of urine analysis system was designed using neural network algorithm. The input parameters are three stimulus(RGB) after preprocessing using normalization. The fuzzy inference and neural network ware constructed for classify class according to 9 urine test items and
classes. The experiment material to be used a standard sample of medicine. The possibility to adapt classifier designed for urine analysis system was verified as classifying measured standard samples and observing classified result. Of many test items, experimental results showed a satisfactory agreement with test results of reference system.
A Study on Detecting and Monitoring of Weld Root Gap using Neural Networks

Weld root gap is a important fact of a falling-off weld quality in various kind of weld defect. The welding quality can be controlled by monitoring important parameters, such as, the Arc voltage, welding current and welding speed during the welding process. Welding systems use either a vision sensor or an Arc sensor, both of which are unable to control these parameters directly. Therefore, it is difficult to obtain necessary bead geometry without automatically controlling the welding parameters through the sensors. In this paper we propose a novel approach using neural networks for detecting and monitoring of weld root gap and bead shape. Through experiments we demonstrate that the proposed system can be used for real welding processes. The results demonstrate that the system can efficiently estimate the weld bead shape and detect the welding defects.
Abrupt Error Detection of Mobile Robot Using LMS Algorithm to Residuals of Kalman Filter

In this paper, a noble second stage hetero-estimator is used for positioning error detection in mobile robot. Previous methods are either expensive in the case of positioning error correction or not able to detect positioning error. To overcome the latter shortage, the positioning error detection is performed using second stage hetero-estimator in motor model of mobile robot without any additional costs. A Kalman filter in the estimator gets the residual of motor current and an adaptive self-tunning filter checks the whiteness of the residual. Some simulation results show the possibility of the proposed method.
