In this paper, the design of URL structures and managements for UFID(Unique feature Identification) based wireless communications is presented with the combination of GIS and URL address informations. As a result of IPv6 based UFID wireless communications, new methods for URI(Uniform Resource Identifier) informations and UFID communication systems are proposed with a 6byte coded 128-bit IPv6 DNS system for the presentation of 1,500,000 korean buildings.
Channel Design of COMS Sensor Data Transmitter and Receiver System

The design parameters of transmitter and receiver channel systems for COMS, which provides meteorological and ocean data services, were analyzed and the channel design parameters for a proper design of a small user-terminal were proposed in this paper. The COMS transmits the oceanic observation data by using the S/L-band link to the earth station. The meteorological data also are transmitted to the earth station, the meteorological data services, which are processed in the earth station, are provided to user. The sensor data are transmitted as digital signal type and are received by bilateral small-sized user terminals. So the optimal channel system for transmission and reception of sensor data should be designed on the basis of the channel modeling and analyzed results for primary technologies.
A Study on the Analysis of Radar System Phase Noise Effects in Clutter Cancellation

Since there are very strong clutter returns in an airborne weather radar used for the detection of low altitude weather hazards, the reliable weather data cannot be extracted from the weak Doppler weather signal without cancellation of these strong clutter returns. However, the system phase noise spreads both the clutter and Doppler signal and causes the serious problems in the efficient clutter cancellation. Therefore, in this paper, the phase noise effects on the clutter and Doppler weather signal were analyzed. The system phase noise model was suggested and the effects were derived and explained using this phase noise model. It can be shown that there exists the limit in the clutter cancellation capability to improve the signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR) due to the system phase noise. It may be prominent especially in the low SCR situations.
A Proposal of the Maximum Allowable Off-axis e.i.r.p. Level of HAPS Ground Station for Frequency Sharing with 47/48GHz FSS system

Resolution 122 requires to study power limitation applicable for HAPS ground stations to facilitate sharing with space station receivers in 47/48GHz bands. ITU-R Recommendation 1481-1 recommends to improve the side lobe characteristics of HAPS ground station antenna for frequency sharing between FSS system and HAPS system. In this paper, we propose the maximum allowable off-axis e.i.r.p. level of HAPS ground station antennas by considering power limitation to HAPS ground station in Resolution 122, and by improving the side lobe characteristics of HAPS ground station antennas in Recommendation SF.1481-1. The simulation results show that the unfeasible sharing distance between HAPS ground station and FSS earth station can be reduced remarkably, and give the possibility of frequency sharing between two above systems.
Design and Fabrication of a Microstrip Patch Antenna with H-shape Aperture-Coupled structure for PCS Repeater

This paper is designed and producted the microstrip patch antenna which used aperture coupled feed structure, and had a comparatively hish gain and headband characteristic with a PCS substitution repeater antenna. The proposed antenna transformed a coupled slot into a H-type in order to improve a characteristic of a general aperture coupled feed antenna. The performance Evaluation of SA filters for images corrupted by mixed noise

The SA fillers encompass a large class of filters based on order statistics as veil as linear FIR filters. Using SA later structure, it is possible to design linear and non-linear filters under a unified framework. In this paper SA filters are applied to an image smoothing problem for mixed noise. Original image is contaminated by Gaussian and impulsive noise. Optimal SA filters are designed and applied to contaminated image. The experimental result shows that SA filters outperform linear FIR and ordering-based nonlinear filters.
Hierarchical Simulation for Real-time Cloth Animation and LOD control

In this paper, a hierarchical simulation with an approximate implicit method is proposed in order to efficiently and plausibly animate mass-spring based cloth models. The proposed hierarchical simulation method can generate realistic motion of extremely fine mesh in interactive rate. The proposed technique employs a fast and stable simulation method which approximates the implicit integration. Although the approximate method is efficient, it is extremely inaccurate and shows excessively damped behavior. The hierarchical simulation technique proposed in this paper constructs multi-level mesh structure in order to represent the realistic appearance of cloth model and performs simulation on each level of the mesh with constraints that enforce some of the mass-points of current level to follow the movement of the previous level. This hierarchical method efficiently generates a plausible movement of a cloth model composed of large number of mass points. Moreover, this hierarchical method enables us to generate realistic wrinkles on the cloth, and the wrinkle pattern on the cloth model can be easily controlled because we can specify different contraction resistance force of springs according to their hierarchical level.
A Study on the Performance Enhancements of Location Aided Routing in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks

Recently, there have been active research efforts on devising efficient routing algorithms utilizing location information in ad-hoc mobile networks. In this paper, we propose a new method to improve the performance of the widely recognized Location Aided Routing (LAR) algorithm. To this end, we suggest the concept of accessible zone combined with the basic two schemes associated with LAR algorithm. Through the proposed algorithm, we can confine the flooding area within accessible zone, thereby reducing the routing delay.
Design of Ternary Logic Circuits Based on Reed-Muller Expansions

In this paper, we present a design method of the ternary logic circuits based on Reed-Muller expansions. The design method of the presented ternary logic circuits checks the degree of each variable for the coefficients of Reed-Holler Expansions(RME) and determines the order of optimal control input variables that minimize the number of Reed-Muller Expansions modules. The order of optimal control input variables is utilized the computation of circuit cost matrix. The ternary logic circuits of the minimized tree structures to be constructed by RME modules based on Reed-Muller Expansions are realized using the computation results of its circuit cost matrix. Resolving the Runtime Class Reference Problem of the Type Object Design Pattern by Type Object Class

The Type Object Design Pattern is proposed to provide a solution on the situation in the case that one class has too many subclasses or the number of subclasses are undefined. Although this pattern has many advantages in terms of applicability and dynamic object behavior, it has a weak point in runtime pattern operation that it has to build and maintain a class reference mechanism in runtime to reference the class (de facto 'object') of instances. To solve that problem, this paper addresses the solution of the runtime class reference problem of Type Object Pattern. it defines a new class of Type Object Class (TOC) from Type Class and Object Class in Type Object pattern and presents the methods of creating, compiling, and memory-loading the TOC. It depends on built-in class reference mechanism of object-oriented programming language, and is not necessary to fit with the additional mechanism. Consequently, we need not to set up the additional class reference mechanism and system performance is enhanced due to it.
An Improved Authentication Protocol in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks using Certificateless Signature

In this paper, we propose an efficient authentication protocol based on certificateless signature scheme, which does not need anyinfrastructure to deal with certification of public keys, among the vehicles in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks. Moreover, due to the characteristicsof VANET nodes (i.e., vehicles) that is fast and movement, the proposed protocol introduces the concept of interval signing key to overcome efficiently the problem of certificate revocation in traditional Public Key Infrastructure(PKI).
The Study for NHPP Software Reliability Growth Model based on Burr Distribution

Finite failure NHPP models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this parer, Goel-Okumoto and Yamada-Ohba-Osaki model was reviewed, proposes the Burr distribution reliability model, which making out efficiency application for software reliability. Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method, model selection based on SSE, AIC statistics and Kolmogorov distance, for the sake of efficient model, was employed. Analysis of failure using real data set for the sake of proposing shape parameter of the Burr distribution was employed. This analysis of failure data compared with the Burr distribution model and the existing model(using arithmetic and Laplace trend tests, bias tests) is presented.
Cost Model of Index Structures for Moving Objects Databases

In this paper, we are going to develop a newly designed indexing scheme which is compatible to manage the moving objects and propose a cost model of the scheme. We propose a dynamic hashing index that insertion/delete costs are low. The dynamic hashing structure is that apply dynamic hashing techniques to combine a hash and a tree to a spatial index. We analyzed the dynamic index structure and the cost model by the frequent position update of moving objects and verified through a performance assessment experiment. The results of our extensive experiments show that the newly proposed indexing schemes(Dynamic Hashing Index) are much more efficient than the traditional the fixed grid and R-tree.
Monitoring and Control System for Efficient Operating and Management of Photovoltaic Power Generation System

Photovoltaic power generation system is one of new renewable energy sources. Such distributed power generation system has important issues for the system management ad operating after its installation. To solve the problem, remote monitoring and control systems can be employed. In this paper, LabVBEW based monitoring and control system is proposed for efficient management and operation of the photovoltaic power generation system. Interface method between monitoring part and DSP controller is given in detail. The proposed system is verified through experiments using a grid-connected photovoltaic power generation system.
Design of Power Factor Correction High Efficiency PWM Single-Phase Rectifier

The parer proposes a power factor correction high efficiency PWM single-phase rectifier. Its good characteristics such as simple PWM control, low switch stress, and low VAR rating of commutation circuits make the proposed rectifier very suitable for various unidirectional power applications. In addition, the proposed rectifier consists of three boost-converter-type IGBT modules with the switching devices located at the bottom leg of the rectifier scheme, which also enables the use of the same power supply in both control and gate driver, thus resulting in simple control and power circuit structure. The detailed principle of operation and experimental results are also included. In particular, the design guide line is also suggested to make the circuit design of the proposed rectifier easy and fast.
Characteristics Comparison of Fluorescent Lamp with External Electrode Materials for Digital

In this paper, the luminance and resistance from different electrode materials of external electrode fluorescent lamp are measured and analyzed. New materials and process technology of external electrode are very important for the developed characteristics in lamp fabrication. This experiment, three different types for the forming of external electrode are Cu and Al taping, silver paste, Ni and Cu electrode-less plating methods. In the measurement of luminance, the results of brightness by Ni and Au plating methods for the external electrode on lamp glass are presented and also compared with the results by the methods using different electrode materials. The measured resistance values of Ni and Au plating process showed a little bit higher than that of silver paste process in spite of developed results of brightness. The Ni and Ni/Au plating processes are demonstrated best results and also showed a little bit different brightness due to different previous surface etching treatments.
An Implementation of ISP for CMOS Image Sensor

In order to display Bayer input stream received from CMOS image sensor to the display device, image signal processing must be performed. That is, the hardware performing the image signal processing for Bayer data is called ISP(Image Signal Processor). We can see real image through ISP processing. ISP executes functionalities for gamma correction, interpolation, color space conversion, image effect, image scale, AWB, AE and AF. In this paper, we obtained the optimum algorithm through software verification of ISP module for CMOS camera image sensor and described using VHDL and verified in ModelSim6.0a simulator. Also we downloaded into Xilinx XCV-1000e for the designed ISP module and completed the board level verification using PCI interface.
Design of a Truncated Floating-Point Multiplier for Graphic Accelerator of Mobile Devices

As the mobile communication and the semiconductor technology is improved continuously, mobile contents such as the multimedia service and the 2D/3D graphics which require high level graphics are serviced recently. Mobile chips should consume small die area and low power. In this paper, we design a truncated floating-point multiplier that is useful for the 2D/3D vector graphics in mobile devices. The truncated multiplier is based on the radix-4 Booth's encoding algorithm and a truncation algorithm is used to achieve small area and low power. The average percent error of the multiplier is as small as 0.00003% and neglectable for mobile applications. The synthesis result using 0.35um CMOS cell library shows that the number of gates for the truncated multiplier is only 33.8 percent of the conventional radix-4 Booth's multiplier.
Electrical and Retention Properties of MFSFET Device

In this study, the characteristics of metal-ferroelectric-semiconductor FET (MFSFET) device is investigated using field-dependent polarization and square-law FET models. From drain current with the gate voltage variation, when coercive voltages of ferroelectric thin film are 0.5 and 1V, the memory windows are 1 and 2V, respectively. When the gate voltages are 0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3V, the difference of saturation drain currents of the MFSFET device at two threshold voltages in ID-VD curve are 1.5, 2.7, 4.0, and 5.7mA, respectively. As a result of the analysis for drain currents after tine lapse, which is based on the simulation for hysteresis loop and the fitting of retention properties of ferroelectric thin films such as PLZT(10/30/70), PLT(10) and PZT(30/70) thin film shows excellent reliability that the decrease of saturation current is about 18% after 10 years.
A Mark Automatic Checking System to Inspect Character String on Chip

The character strings on chips and components are so tiny and numerous that it is a very difficult work for people to perform. In this paper, we propose a mark automatic checking system, which will determine whether chip is wrong-mark or not by recognizing characters on chips. Lots of faulty detection conditions and template matching methods are used to inspect the faulty mark items. The faulty detection classifies conditions as five kinds-darkness, matching, area, broken and branch. A series of experimentation show that the method proposed here can offer an effective way to determine wrong-mark on chips.
A Study on the Gesture Recognition Based on the Particle Filter Using CONDENSATION Algorithm

The recognition of human gestures in image sequences is an important and challenging problem that enables a host of human-computer interaction applications. This paper describes a gesture recognition algorithm based on the particle filters, namely CONDENSATION. The particle filter is more efficient than any other tracking algorithm because the tracking mechanism follows Bayesian estimation rule of conditional probability propagation. We used two models for the evaluation of particle filter and apply the MAILAB for the preprocessing of the image sequence. But we implement the particle filter using the C++ to get the high speed processing. In the experimental results, it is demonstrated that the proposed algorithm prove to be robust in the cluttered environment.
Design and Implementation of Multimedia Mobile Learning System using MSMIL

The advancement of wireless technology improves the electronic learning by combining with the mobile function, and promotes the expanded transition to the mobile learning. Basically, the mobile learning provides the usefulness in terms of tile and space to provide learners with the access to the educational contents. However, the small display device and limited memory space of mobile device is limiting the access to the learning contents simply to the text-based transmission. This paper designed and implemented the multimedia mobile learning system that reduces the size of parser by define into MSMIL composed only of needed tag to multimedia contents production in the mobile devices by using the SMIL that supports the multimedia object synchronization reduces the data of multimedia learning data and enhances the transmission efficiency by applying the macro method in creating the contents of learning. The results of implementation indicates that it simplifies the designing language, makes the language learning easy, and saves the CPU resources for the parsing by reducing the size of parser.
Design of LMS based adaptive equalizer using Discrete Multi-Wavelet Transform

In the next generation mobile multimedia communications, the broad band shot-burst transmissions are used to reduce end-to-end transmission delay, and to limit the time variation of wireless channels over a burst. However, training overhead is very significant for such short burst formats. So, the availability of the short training sequence and the fast converging adaptive algorithm is essential in the system adopting the symbol-by-symbol adaptive equalizer. In this paper, we propose an adaptive equalizer using the DWMT (discrete multi-wavelet transform) and LMS (least mean square) adaptation. The proposed equalizer has a faster convergence rate than that of the existing transform-domain equalizers, while the increase of computational complexity is very small.
Binarization and Stroke Reconstruction of Low Quality Character Image for Effective Character Recognition

Image binarization is an important preprocessing to identify the object of interest by dividing pixels into the background and object. We proposes efficient binarization method and a stroke reconstruction method of the low quality character image for an effective character recognition. First, the character image is binarized by using the both advantages of local and global thresholding method and then the noise elimination around the character stroke and the hole filling on the stoke by the analysis of the binarized stroke image are performed to enhance the quality of the character stroke. Proposed binarization algorithm for character image achieved an efficiency of both processing speed and performance by the adaptive threshold selection. Moreover, We could get a high qualify binary image by a stroke reconstruction of the step-by-step denoising process.
Constructive Induction for a GA-based Inductive Learning Environment

Constructive induction is a technique to draw useful attributes from given primitive attributes to classify given examples more efficiently. Useful attributes are obtained from given primitive attributes by applying appropriate operators to them. The paper proposes a constructive induction approach for a GA-based inductive learning environment that learns classification rules that ate similar to rules used in PROSPECTOR from given examples. The paper explains our constructive induction approach in details, centering on operators to combine primitive attributes and methods to evaluate the usefulness of derived attributes, and presents the results of various experiments performed to evaluate the effect of our constructive induction approach on the GA-based learning environment.
Location Tracking System for Container Trailer Using Ubiquitous Sensor Networks

This paper describes position tracking system of a container trailer approaching to a gantry crane for loading or unloading a container into or from a ship, respectively. Proposed position tracking system informs the trailer driver of right position to stop the car under a gantry crane. To measure the location of a trailer, we used Cricket Mote modules which adopted RF and ultrasound technology. We present an elaborate method to improve position errors occurring at sensing and calculate three dimensional position by triangulation along with how to reduce location tracking interval for real-time monitoring. The location information was transmitted to a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) periodically through Bluetooth communication for guidance of the trailer driver. In indoor and outdoor tests, position errors were less than 3 cm and location tracking interval was 0.5 second on average.
Design and Development of U-Museum System by utilizing RFID

Despite continuous changes these days, exhibit management methods have not changed that much. To solve th problem, some systems like bar code, color code, IrDA, etc. are being used, but still many problems remain. For the problem-solving, "Exhibt Management System with RFID" is designed and its prototype is developed, which can reduce resources and efforts to manage exhibits through that an operator confirms exhibit information and inputs any damage on the exhibit on the site by using RFID system. The system purposes to improve efficiency of exhibit management by allowing an operator to check all information of exhibitions in real time using a portable reader that recognizes tags of 900MHz band manually attached to each exhibit.
