In this paper, we propose a hardware architecture to generate digital hologram using the modified CGH (Computer Generated Hologram) algorithm for hardware implementation and design to FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) platform. After analyzing the CGH algorithm, we propose an architecture of CGH cell which efficiently products digital hologram, and design CGH Kernel from configuring CGH Cell. Finally we implement CGH Processor using CGH Kernel, SDRAM Controller, DMA, etc. Performance of the proposed hardware can be proportionally increased through simply addition of CGH Cell in CGH Kernel, since a CGH Cell has operational independency. The proposed hardware was implemented using XC2VP70 FPGA of Xilinx and was stably operated in 200MHz clock frequency. It take 0.205 second for generating
digital hologram from 3 dimensional object which has 40,000 light sources.

An Improved PCF Technique for The Generation of Shadows

Shadows are important elements for realistic rendering of the 3D scene. We cannot recognize the distance of objects in the 3D scene without shadows. Two methods, image-based medthods and object-based methods, are largely used for the rendering of shadows. Object based methods can generate accurate shadow boundaries. However, it cannot be used to generate the realtime shadows because the time complexity defends on the complexity of the 3D scene. Image based methods which are techniques to generate shadows are widely used because of fast calculation time. However, this algorithm has aliasing problems. PCF is a method to solve the aliasing problem. Using PCF technique, antialiased shadow boundaries can be generated. However, PCF with large filter size requires more time to calculate antialiased shadow boundaries. This paper proposes an improved PCF technique which generates antialiased shadow boundaries similar to that of PCF. Compared with PCF, this technique can generate antialiased shadows in less time.
Development of GUI and Communition Interface for High Quality Car Audio DSP

Recently DSP chips are widely used in high quality car audio to achieve high quality sound and to process various sound sources, e.g. navigation, cell phones. In this paper, we developed a set of design tools useful for developing high quality car audio systems using Philips' SAF7730 car audio chips. The tool is consist of the GUI(Graphic User Interface) program running on the Windows operating system and the interface board which performs data conversion between RS232C and I2C protocols. The developed system has been successfully applied to commecial car audio design.
Memory-Free Skin-Detection Algorithm and Implementation of Hardware Design for Small-Sized Display Device

The research of skin-tone detection has been conducting continuously to enlarge the importance in security, surveillance and administration of the information and 'Password Control System' for using face and skin recognition in airports, harbors and general companies. As well as tile rapid diffusion of the application range in image communications and an electron transaction using wide range of communication network, the importance of the accurate detection of skin color has been augmenting recently. In this paper, it will set up the boundaries of skin colors using the information of Cb and Cr in YCbCr color model of human skin color which is from hundreds compiled portrait images for each race, and suggest a efficient yet simple structure about the skin detection which has been followed by whether the comprehension of the boundaries of skin or not with adaptive skin-range set. With the possibility of the 1D Processes which does not use any memory, it is able to be applied to relatively small-sized hardware and system such as mobile apparatuses. To add the selective mode, it is not only available the improvement of tie skin detection, but also showing the correspondent results about previous face recognition technologies using complicated algorithm.
Underwater Acoustic Communication Link Analysis

The electro-magnetic wave propagates through the air in the terrestrial communications, but the acoustic wave propagates through the seawater in the underwater acoustic communication(UAC). It makes the differences between the UAC link and the well hon air communication links. In this paper, we have studied path loss, absorption and ambient noise of the ocean as a medium for UAC. We have analyzed the absorption coefficient and ambient noise level of the coastal area of South Korea and suggested a strategy for the selection of the frequency band by considering the absorption coefficient and ambient noise level. Also, we present an illustrative example of a link budget for the QPSK UAC system which has carrier frequency 25kHz, bit rate 10kbps, range 1km and BER
in the shallow water environment with an ideal AWGN assumption.

The Design of a Wind Speed & Direction Module and a DSP Sensor Interface System for the Meteorological System

In this paper, a meteorological system including a wind speed & direction module and the DSP(Digital Signal Processor) sensor interface circuit board are proposed. This DSP system accepts and process the informations from a wind speed & direction module, the atmospheric pressure sensor, the ambient air temperature sensor and transfers it to the PC monitoring system. Especially, a wind speed & direction module and a DSP hardware are directly designed and applied. A wind speed & direction module have a construction that it have four film type RID(Resistive Temperature Detectors) resistive sensor adhered around the circular metal body heated constantly by heating coil for obtaining vector informations about wind. By this structure, the module is enabled precise measurement having a robustness about vibration, humidity, corrosion. A sensor signal processing circuit is using TMS320F2812 TI(Texas Instrument) Corporation high speed DSP. An economical meteorological system could be constructed through the data from wind speed & direction module and by the fast processing of DSP interface circuit board.
The Design of Proxy Peer Algorithm based on DHT for Effective Resource Searching on JXTA Network Environments

Searching distributed resources efficiently is very important in distributed computing environments like P2P. But distributed resource searching may have system overheads and take a lot of time in proportion to the searching number, because distributed resource searching has to circuit many peers for searching information. In this paper, we design a proxy peer algorithm based on DHT(Distributed Hash Table) for efficient distributed resource searching in JXTA network environments. By containing the rendezvous information in proxy peer and searching a rendezvous peer firstly which has higher hit ratio, we can reduce the searching number and minimize system overheads.
A Scheme to Reduce the Transmission Delay for Real-Time Applications in Sensor Networks

Real-time applications in a wireless sensor network environment require real-time transmissions from sensing nodes to sink nodes. Existing congestion control mechanisms have treated congestion problems in sensor networks, but they only adjust the reporting frequency or the sending rate in intermediate nodes. They were not suitable for real-time applications from the transmission delays point of view. In this paper, we suggest a new mechanism that can reduce the transmission delay and can increase the throughput for real-time applications in sensor network. This mechanism classifies data on the real-time characteristics, processes the data maintaining the real-time characteristics prior to the other data such as the non real-time data or the data lost the real-time characteristics. A modified frame format is also proposed in order to apply the mechanism to IEEE 802.15.4 MAC layer. The simulation based on ns-2 is accomplished in order to verify the performance of the suggested scheme from transmission delay and throughput standpoints. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has a better performance specifically when It applies to the real-time applications in sensor networks.
Design and Implementation of a Smart Tag System for Ubiquitous Port Logistics

In recent, rapid and accurate processing for logistics have been required, according as logistics has grown dramatically. Especially, identifying, locating, or tracking objects in ports are important, because ports are gateways to extended markets. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a smart tag system for ubiquitous port logistics. Our solution consists of three parts: an active RFID to identify objects, an electronic container seal to charge with security of containers, and a RTLS system to locate objects. Because identification technology for logistics can be read by heterogenous systems, compliance with the international standard is one of the most critical issues. This paper introduces the method to maintain compliance with ISO, and conducts some verifications. In addition, we analyze the system performance such as lifetime, identification rate, and time for multiple tag identification.
Design and Implementation of High-Resolution Image Transmission Interface for Mobile Device

As studies on ubiquitous computing are actively conducted, desire for various services, including image transmission storage, search and remote monitoring. has been expanding into mobile environment as well as to PCs. while CCTV (closed circuit TV) and un DVR (Digital video Recording) are used in places where security service such as intrusion detection system is required, these are high-end equipment. So it is not easy for ordinary users or household and small-sized companies to use them. Besides, they are difficult to be carried and camera solution for mobile device does not support high-quality function and provides low-definition of QVGA for picture quality. Therefore, in this study, design and implementation of embedded system of high-definition image transmission for ubiquitous mobile device which is not inferior to PC or DVR are described. To this end, usage of dedicated CPU for mobile device and design and implementation of MPEG-4 H/W CODEC also are examined. The implemented system showed excellent performance in mobile environment, in terms of speed, picture quality.
Dragon-MAC: Securing Wireless Sensor Network with Authenticated Encryption

In order to combat the security threats that sensor networks are exposed to, a cryptography protocol is implemented at sensor nodes for point-to-point encryption between nodes. Given that nodes have limited resources, symmetric cryptography that is proven to be efficient for low power devices is implemented. Data protection is integrated into a sensor's packet by the means of symmetric encryption with the Dragon stream cipher and incorporating the newly designed Dragon-MAC Message Authentication Code. The proposed algorithm was designed to employ some of the data already computed by the underlying Dragon stream cipher for the purpose of minimizing the computational cost of the operations required by the MAC algorithm. In view that Dragon is a word based stream cipher with a fast key stream generation, it is very suitable for a constrained environment. Our protocol regarded the entity authentication and message authentication through the implementation of authenticated encryption scheme in wireless sensor nodes.
Implementation of Development Environment for Intelligent Gadget System

This paper describes the environment configuration for the development of an embedded gadget system and the architecture and operation of Linux kernel for embedded system applications, which is used for a gadget. It shows and analyzes the operations of Linux kernel to investigate the functions and components for new intelligent embedded gadget systems. The requested functions and operations adaptable for the new intelligent embedded system will be applicable to develop a new small size operating system that supports intelligent operations for the embedded gadget system used for intelligent personal information services. We configure the environment of development for an embedded gadget system and its application.
Object Replication Methods for High Availability in DHT based P2P Computing System

Recently, there are many researches for P2P network. P2P network technologies are a good solution about making a wide spread distributed computing in the internet environment. The recent algorithms developed by several research groups for the lookup problem present a simple and general interface, a distributed hash table (DHT). In this paper, we also introduce new schemes that enhance the available rate of an object in the MagicSquare network. Replication scheme is to replicate an object with many replicas and save them to several nodes. Fragmentation scheme is to divide an object into several fragments and save them to several nodes. Replicated Fragmentation scheme is to mix replication scheme and fragmentation scheme. We will show result of simulation for our the proposed scheme.

A start-up circuit of the bandgap reference voltage generator of cascode current mirror type with wide operating voltage range and enhanced power-up characteristics is proposed in the paper. It is confirmed by simulation that the newly proposed start-up circuit does not affect the operation of the bandgap reference voltage generatory even though the supply voltage(VDDA) is higher and has more stable power-up characteristic than the conventional start-up circuit. Test chips are designed and fabricated with
tripple well CMOS process and their test has been completed. The mean value of measured the reference voltage(Vref) is 738mV and The three sigma value(
) is 29.88mV.
A Temperature Stable PWM Controller Using Bandgap Reference Voltage

In this work, temperature stable pulse width modulation controller using bandgap reference voltage is proposed. Two bandgap reference voltages are designed by using BiCMOS technology which are temperature dependent and independent voltage references. PWM controller is designed by using 3.3 volt supply voltage and the output frequency is 1MHz. From simulation results, the variation of output pulse width is less than form +0.86% to -0.38% in the temperature range
A design of fractional-N phase lock loop

In this paper, phase-locked loop (PLL) of a combinational architecture consisting of an adaptive bandwidth and fractional-N is presented to improve performances and reduce the order of
modulator while maintaining equivalent or better performance with fast locking. The architecture of adaptive bandwidth PLL was simulated by HSPICE using 0.35m CMOS parameters. The behavioral simulation of the proposed adaptive bandwidth fractional-N PLL with a
modulator was carried out by using MatLab to determine if the architecture could achieve the objectives. The HSPICE simulation showed that this type of PLL was able to fast locking, and reduce fractional spurs about 20dB.

Power Efficient Cell Searching Algorithm to Support Mobility in Portable Digital Broadcasting Networks

DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting for Handhold) is a new standard, currently being developed for a portable digital broadcasting, which enhance the multimedia broadcasting service in the Euroapean standard DVB-T (DVB-Terrestrial). Seamless mobility and power saving are essential requirements in the DVB-H system. To support seamless mobility, DVB-H system should provides seamless handover for mobile stations in the MFN (multi frequency network). For seamless handover, the receiver should monitor neighboring cells and it increases the power consumption. And so, power efficient sell searching algorithm for seamless handover is required. In this paper, we propose hypothesis feeling based handover algorithm to enhance the power efficiency by using the fast cell searching, and analyze the performance of handover schemes through the numerical evaluation and simulation.
Frame Skipping Algorithm for Minimization of Video Quality Variation

According to recently presented QoS architecture by 3GPP, a traffic conditioner may be deployed to provide conformance of the negotiated QoS. In this paper, a real-time frame-layer rate control method which can be applied to the traffic conditioner of 3GPP is proposed. The proposed rate control method uses an efficient frame skipping algorithm method for low computational complexity, and performs bit allocation at the frame level to minimize the average distortion over an entire sequence as well as variations in distortion between frames. The proposed algorithm does not produce time delay from encoding, and is suitable for real-time low-complexity video encoder.
A Study on Reducing PAPR of OFDM Transmit System by Clipping Structural Improvement

Recently many communication systems ate adapting the OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) for multimedia data services. However, OFDM has some problems that PAPR is increased when sub-carries are summed up with same phases. This problem causes severe signal distortions while the signal is passing through non-linear system such as power amplifier resulting in performance degradation of transmission system. In this paper, we use IF-Clipping method to solve PAPR problem and the signal distortion caused by clipping is limited by use of SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) filter and power amplifier(TWTA). And we derive the optimal parameter(PAPR, Backoff) values to meet the spectrum mask of WiBro system.
Implementation of Speech Recognizer using Relevance Vector Machine

In this paper, we experimented by three kind of method for feature parameter, training method and recognition algorithm of most suitable for speech recognition system and considered. We decided speech recognition system of most suitable through two kind of experiment after we make speech recognizer. First, we did an experiment about three kind of feature parameter to evaluate recognition performance of it in speech recognizer using existent MFCC and MFCC new feature parameter that change characteristic space using PCA and ICA. Second, we experimented recognition performance or HMM, SVM and RVM by studying data number. By an experiment until now, feature parameter by ICA showed performance improvement of average 1.5% than MFCC by high linear discrimination from characteristic space. RVM showed performance improvement of maximum 3.25% than HMM in an experiment by decrease of studying data. As such result, effective method for speech recognition system to propose in this paper derives feature parameters using ICA and un recognition using RVM.
Extraction of Basic Insect Footprint Segments Using ART2 of Automatic Threshold Setting

In a process of insect footprint recognition, basic footprint segments should be extracted from a whole insect footprint image in order to find out appropriate features for classification. In this paper, we used a clustering method as a preprocessing stage for extraction of basic insect footprint segments. In general, sizes and strides of footprints may be different according to type and sire of an insect for recognition. Therefore we proposed an improved ART2 algorithm for extraction or basic insect footprint segments regardless of size and stride or footprint pattern. In the proposed ART2 algorithm, threshold value for clustering is determined automatically using contour shape of the graph created by accumulating distances between all the spots of footprint pattern. In the experimental results applying the proposed method to two kinds of insect footprint patterns, we could see that all the clustering results were accomplished correctly.

Requirement of coordination among heterogeneous devices is significantly increasing to meet the challenges presented by the evolvement of the ubiquitous computing environment. The web services technology is receiving much attention as a promising solution to support the inter-operability between such heterogeneous devices by means of well-defined protocol. Recenlty, ECA(Event-Condition-Action) rule-based framework for coordinating devices is proposed, which is called WS-ECA(Web Services-ECA) framework In this paper we propose a specific design and an implementation methodology for WS-ECA framework.
