Fading characteristics of 2.4GHz band Wireless image signal for the Various Subway Tunnel Structures

This paper deals with the measurements of wireless image signal in subway tunnels at 2.45GHz. Measurements have been conducted in 3 subway stations with different types; a straight tunnel and two curved tunnels. As a analysis result for the measured data, we found that the signal level inside straight tunnel by the strong multipath waves fluctuate deeply compared to the curved tunnel. The path loss exponent for the Shin-hung station with the straight tunnel is 2.5, those for the Pan-am and Dae-dong station with curved tunnels are 1.6 and 1.9, respectively. The fade depth and width at 50% point became relatively serious at Shin-hung station, the level crossing rate inside the Pan-am station is larger than the other stations. Therefore, it can be concluded that the fading phenomena affect to the signal performance generate seriously at straight tunnel compared to the curved tunnel.
A method of sensor data stream processing based on RFID middleware

USN and RFID, as new technologies for realization of ubiquitous computing, are closely related with each other technically. Nevertheless, these technologies are recognized as a separate research topic, and there are few researches on technical convergence of the two research areas. In this paper, we propose an efficient processing method of various kinds of sensor data which are used in USN environment to provide efficiency from the view point of not only convergence of USN and RFID technologies but also cost and extensibility. Especially, we propose a method of conversion of various sensor data into EPC data format which can be handled in a RFID middleware. Using the proposed method, RFID middleware systems based on international standard specification can handle not only RFID tag data but also general sensor data efficiently, and various types of ubiquitous application services can be implemented at low cost and in a short time.
A Scheduling System for MPEG-2 Digital Broadcasting

It has able to be possible that expression and store visual image from analog to digital without picture quality damaged via improvement of video compression technology. And also, It is possible to broadcasting digital image via transmission of digital image on MPEG-2 standardization. For this reason, the broadcasting business owners have converted broadcasting service from analog to digital. But, local SO(System Operator) has a difficult point which secure HD(High Definition) broadcasting program. In this paper, we designed and implemented Scheduling System for MPEG-2 Digital Broadcasting which gather HD broadcasting program from major broadcasting business owners and broadcast them.
Design and Implementation of Real-Time Management System for Efficient Operation of Motor Control Center

In this paper, we describes the design and implementation of real-time management system for efficient operation via monitoring and control of MCC(Motor Control Center). The real-tine management system can be divided hardware(MCC panel) and software(management program). First, hardware is divided into load attaching motor and MCC components for working together control and data network. Second, software(management system) are consisted of communication interface, environment setting, data processing modules. The produced and implemented reduction model of MCC panel is pretested using m-PRO, iM-PRO devices, and HyperTerminal. For field test, MCC panel is tested by RS-232C/485, communication procedure in management system is certified by transmitting and receiving message using control command. By the experimental results, the implemented real-time management system can be used to operate MCC system.
Performance Analysis of Mesh WLANs based on IEEE 802.11 protocols

Mesh WLANs, which consist of wireless mesh routers connecting each other in a mesh topology and self-operate after their autoconfiguration, have several advantages in convenience, swiftness and flexibility of deployment and operation over existing WLANs the expansions of which are done by connecting the APs with wires. However, many technical issues still remain to be solved. Among them, network performance degradations due to the interference between the adjacent hops in multi-hop mesh WLANs, and the reusability of the existing wireless network protocols are critical problems to be answered. This work evaluates the VoIP support performance of IEEE 802.11a/g-based mesh WLANs with multiple wireless interfaces with simulations. The results show that there exit an unfairness in VoIP packet delay performances among mobile routers located at different hops, and that although the capacity of the admitted calls can be increased by increasing the size of voice packet payload it is far less than the expected one. This suggests that the existing 802.11 MAC protocols have their limitation when applied in mesh networks and their enhancement or even a newer one nay be required.
Performance Analysis of an Improved Channel Allocation Scheme in MCVoD System

This raper discusses improvement of MCVoD System by changing the channel allocation of VoD Server. And we analyzed performance of MCVoD System. Using simulation, we compare MCVoD with another VoD server using same channel allocation. In case of average channel allocation, MCVoD System using interchange agent, represents three times better than previous VoD server.
A Secure Ubiquitous Storage System for Mobile Devices

The rapid growth of ubiquitous technology has increased the demand of storage capacity in mobile computing. iSCSI(Internet Small Computer Interface), a virtual storage protocol would be one of the possible solutions to resolve this problem. However, the insecure nature of this protocol makes it vulnerable to malicious attacks. In this paper, we aims to design and propose a new secure lightweight iSCSI-based virtual storage scheme for mobile devices. Suitable security mechanisms are considered in the design of our proposed solution in order to overcome existing security problems in iSCSI. Relevant experiments are tarried out and the results revealed that the efficiency of proposed algorithm in which it introduces over 100% Read/Write performance improvement compared with the IPsec approach.

Single-stage Power Factor Corrected AC-to-DC Converter for sustain/reset Driving Power Supply of PDP TV

To improve the efficiency of PDP TV, it should minimize the power losses transpired during AC-to-DC power conversion and PDP driving process. Generally the input power supply for PDP driving employes a two-stage power factor corrected converter, and it needs additional DC-to-DC converters to supply driving power for reset circuit ed sustain driver, which has high power consumption. However, such a circuit configuration has a difficulty for the PDP market requires low cost. To alleviate this problem, a new circuit composition is presented. It integrates input power supply with reset and sustain driver in a single power stack The input power supply of the proposed circuit has a single-stage structure to minimize power conversion loss, and it directly supplies power to the sustain driver so as to reduce the system size and cost.
Composition of efficient monitoring system using an interpolation

This paper presents an efficient data storage and reconstruction method in data acquisition and processing of monitoring system. The proposed method extracts minimum data using an interpolation from raw data which are acquired from a target system. They are transferred and saved in a monitoring PC via TCP/IP communication, and then reconstructed as original signals. Therefore, it is possible to design an efficient monitoring system by the improved data communication speed due to the reduced communication packet, and it reduces the storage space. The algorithm for data acquisition and reconstruction is based on Cubic Hermite interpolation. To verify the validity of the proposed scheme, we presents simulation results compared with other interpolation based approaches. Finally, it is applied to a monitoring system for grid-connected photovoltaic power generation system to prove the high-performance of the proposed method.
Band Fault Modelling Based on specification for the Time Domain Test of RFIC

This paper proposes a new design specification-based band fault modelling technique that can test design specification in a time domain. The band fault model is defined and the conditions of band fault model are gained as normal operation regions are defined. And the conditions of band fault model are used in a 5.25GHz low noise amplifier, then 9 band fault models that can detect hard and parametric faults of active and passive devices are obtained.

Analog-to-digital converters(ADCs) used in instrumentation and measurements often require high absolute accuracy, including excellent linearity and negligible dc offset. Incremental(integrating) data converters(IDCs) provide a solution for such measurement applications, as they retain most of the advantages of conventional
converters, and yet they are capable of offset-free and accurate conversion. In this paper, a design technique for implementing multiplexed incremental data converters to convert narrow bandwidth AC signals over multi-channel is discussed. It incorporates the operation principle, topology, and digital decimation filter design. The theoretical results are verified by simulation results.
The Implement of System on Microarry Classification Using Combination of Signigicant Gene Selection Method

Nowadays, a lot of related data obtained from these research could be given a new present meaning to accomplish the original purpose of the whole research as a human genome project. In such a thread, construction of gene expression analysis system and a basis rank analysis system is being watched newly. Recently, being identified fact that particular sub-class of tumor be related with particular chromosome, microarray started to be used in diagnosis field by doing cancer classification and predication based on gene expression information. In this thesis, we used cDNA microarrays of 3840 genes obtained from neuronal differentiation experiment of cortical stem cells on white mouse with cancer, created system that can extract informative gene list through normalization separately and proposed combination method for selecting more significant genes. And possibility of proposed system and method is verified through experiment. That result is that PC-ED combination represent 98.74% accurate and 0.04% MSE, which show that it improve classification performance than case to experiment after generating gene list using single similarity scale.
Development of Monitoring System for Forests Type Based on Web

In recently, researches which appling satellite image are introduced target to the forest area. Especially, it is satellite image analysis's advantage that collecting information of terrain at the direct accesses are dangerous and impassible area. But, the studies approaching to a inflectional paradigm of forests and change detection system for the distinguished forests type are leaves much to be desired. In this study, therefore, change of forests type was analyzed using Landsat TM satellite image which have multi-spectral bands. Furthermore, change detection system for forests type was constructed on web for the periodical monitoring.
NRZ versus RZ Modulation Format in Lumped Dispersion Managed Systems

The system performance of NRZ format in WDM transmission system with lumped dispersion management(DM) and optical phase conjugator(OPC) is compared with that of RZ format. It is confirmed that eye opening penalty(EOP) of both NRZ and RZ format in WDM transmission system having lumped DM combined with OPC are greatly improved than those in WDM system with only OPC. The optimal net residual dispersion(NRD) in the case of RZ format is decided to so small value that path-averaged dispersion coefficient become almost zero, while that in the case of NRZ format is decided to larger value, for the best improvement of overall WDM channels. It is also confirmed that EOP in the case of RZ format is more improved than that in the case of NRZ format in lumped DM with optimal NRD. This is resulted from that lumped DM combined with OPC suppress the signal distortion due to intrachannel four-wave mixing(IFWM) and intrachannel cross phase modulation(IXPM). Consequently, lumped DM combined with OPC proposed in this paper is effective technique to mitigate intrachannel nonlinearities in WDM transmitting RZ format.
Adaptive Power allocation inenergy-constrained wireless ad-hoc networks

We proposed a simple power allocation scheme to maximize network lifetime for "amplify and forward(AF)" and "decode and forward(DF)". To maximize network lifetime, it is important to allocate power fairly among nodes in a network as well as to minimize total transmitted power. In the proposed scheme, the allocated power is proportional to the residual power and also satisfies the required SNR at destination node. In this paper, we calculate power allocation in model of AF and DF. We evaluated the proposed power allocation scheme using extensive simulation and simulation results show that proposed power allocation obtains much longer network lifetime than the equal power allocation.
A Study on QAM Transmission Schemes for Constant Amplitude Coded Multicode Biorthogonal Modulation

In this paper, we investigate the design of the QAM(Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) method for the CACB(Constant Amplitude Coded Multicode Biorthogonal) scheme. The modulation method fan improve the transmission data rate by increasing the BE(Bandwidth Efficiency). Additionally, we can improve the system performance by using the QAM SD(Soft Decision) method with the MDSA(Minimum Distance Selection Algorithm). Finally, the DFE(Decision Feedback Equalizer) for the CACB-QAM is simulated under the MPF(MultiPath Fading) channel for real implementation. The proposed scheme can be used for the PHY(PHYsical layer) standard of the WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network) requiring high rate data transmission.
RTLS Implementations in Domestic Ports and Shipyards

RTLS(Real Time Location Systems) is a technology that identifies a location of a target object and provides peat visibility at a work place. Unlike those of the overseas, domestic ports and shipyards have narrow work places and thus, the efficient utilization of these spaces is one of the most important considerations for improving productivity. Companies considering implementation of RTLS should understand its limitations or applicability. In this paper, problems of RTLS such as fading factors which were caused from the features of RF, and limitations caused from the preconditions of RTLS were explained. To overcome those problems, three types of solutions such as movable RTLS, semi-movable RTLS and combined RTLS with other technologies were suggested.
Backoff-based random access algorithm for offering differentiated QoS services in the random access channels of OFDMA systems

In this paper, in order that the various QoS(Qualify of Service)s that are required by different traffic class are guaranteed in the random access channels in multi-service multi-user OFDMA systems, the backoff-based random access algorithm is proposed and corresponding performance is analyzed in terms of the access success probability, the throughput, the average delay and the blocking probability. Through the numerical analysis, it is shown that the proposed backoff-based random access algorithm can provide the differentiated QoSs to random access attempts according to their service class.
Resolving Line Distortions in Edge Strength Hough Transform

Though the Hough transform(HT) is a well-known method for detecting analytical shape represented by a number of free parameters, the basic property of the HT, the one-to-many mapping from an image spare to a Hough space, causes the innate problem, the sensitivity to noise. This basic problem also deteriorates the quality of detected lines and makes the detected line deviated from the real one or generates some bogus, multiple lines where only one real line exists. The size of Hough space also affects the quality of detected lines. In this paper, we analyzed the line distortions in the traditional Hough transform and showed that the distortions are relieved in the edge strength Hough transform(ESHT), which is a modified HT. However the usage of expanded edge and edge strength in ESHT can cause some new line distortions which do not exist in the HT. These new ones can be solved by a proper setting of decreasing and broadening parameter values and the optimal values can be determined only by some pre-determined values. We also illustrated several examples to show the distortion-decreasing property of ESHT.
Design Mobility Agent Module for Healthcare Application Service

The sensor network for the health care application service has the man or movable object as the main sensing object. In order to support inter-node interaction by the movement of such sensing objects, the node's dynamic function modification, dynamic self-configuration and energy efficiency must be considered. In this paper, the Agilla model which supports the dynamic function modification through the agent migration between nodes and LEACH protocol which guarantees the dynamic self-configuration and energy efficiency through the configuration of inter-node hierarchical cluster configuration are analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis, the Mobility Agent Middleware which supports the dynamic function modification between nodes is designed, and LEACH_Mobile protocol which guarantees the node nobility as the weakness of the existing LEACH protocol is suggested. Also, the routing module which supports the LEACH_Mobile protocol is designed and the interface for conjunction with Mobility Agent Middleware is designed. Then, it is definitely increase performance which un mobility node of transfer data rate through LEACH_Mobile protocol of simulation result.
A localization method for mobile node in sensor network

The Study of environment monitoring through huge network of wireless sensor node is worked with activity. The sensor nodes must be very small, light and low cost. The localization which may determine where a given node is physically located in a network is one of the quite important problems for wireless sensor network. But simple localization method is required as excluding the usage of GPS(Global Positioning System) by the limit condition such as the node size, costs, and so on. In this paper, very simple method using connectivity for the outdoor RF communication environment is proposed. The proposed method is demonstrated through simulation.
Structure Health Monitoring System based on Wireless Sensor Network

There has been increasing interest in developing Structure Health Monitoring(SHM) system based on wireless sensor network(WSN) due to recent advancement in sensor network technologies. SHM is the continuous monitoring of the condition such a acceleration or load of a structure. The SHM system works, which measure key structure parameters systematically, provide information in evaluation of structure integrity, durability and reliability. Currently SHM system collects data via analog sensor and then sends to analysis application through the wired network. The wire system support high accuracy, but suffers the disadvantages in installation costs, complexity of connection and loss of line. It's also difficult to add new sensor nodes. We design and implement the SHM system based on WSN technology to solve those problems.
A Highly Reliable Fall Detection System for The Elderly in Real-Time Environment

Fall event detection is one of the most common problems for elderly people, especially those living alone because falls result in serious injuries such as joint dislocations, fractures, severe head injuries or even death. In order to prevent falls or fall-related injuries, several previous methods based on video sensor showed low fall detection rates in recent years. To improve this problem and outperform the system performance, this paper presented a novel approach for fall event detection in the elderly using a subtraction between successive difference images and temporal templates in real time environment. The proposed algorithm obtained the successful detection rate of 96.43% and the low false positive rate of 3.125% even though the low-quality video sequences are obtained by a USB PC camera sensor. The experimental results have shown very promising performance in terms of high detection rate and low false positive rate.
