Differential Effectiveness of In-Vehicle Front-to-Rear-End Collision Warnings when Drivers Using Various Electronic Devices during Driving

The purpose of the present study was to compare and analyze the differential effects of in-vehicle electronic device usage types(searching for targeted destinations in navigational purpose, watching TV in entertain purpose, and dialing a cellular-phone in phone-usage purpose) on driver's front-to-rear-end collision avoidance behavior, and to find effective collision warning format for this behavior. The result indicated that (1) the drivers showed more impaired collision avoidance performances when they were asked to search the name of targeted destination than the other task requirements, and (2) auditory warning appeared to be most effective among the other types of warning. In particular, it was suggested that the "Visual-Only" collision warning could induce most undesirable result when the drivers were engaged in both visual and auditory information processing.
Design and Implementation of BPF Using a Symmetric Coupled Line

Microstrip interdigital filter is designed with the width and length of a resonator, the gap distance between resonators and the location of a tap. When designing filters, it is a benefit to design with few design parameters comparing to many design parameters. In this paper we design and implement two microstrip interdigital filters operating in the UWB(Ultra Wide-Band) frequency band, one using a fixed width of a resonator and the other using a different width of resonators. The test results of the implemented filters show that the low-band high filter with a fixed width has the insertion loss of 1.49dB, -10dB band width of 720MHz, -35.7dBattenuation at 4.8GHzand below -13dB of S11. The filter with a different width of resonators has the insertion loss of 1.6dB, -10dBbandwidth of 1.63GHz and below-8dBof S11.

1.6mm, narrow bandwidth which is a defect of chip antenna is improved. And its experimental results were a good agreement with simulation performance.
Design and Fabrication of a LTCC Diplexer for GSM/CDMA Applications

In this paper, a diplexer circuit to separate GSM from CDMA band is designed using a LTCC (Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic) multi-layer technology. In order to increase a integration capability of the diplexer, it is designed using 3-dimensional (3-D) multi-layer compact inductor and capacitors in e-layer LTCC substrate with a relative dielectric constant of 7. In order to achieve high selectivity of the bands, a shunt capacitor and inductor are designed in the high-pass filter (HPF) and low-pass filter (LPF), respectively. The design and Fabrication of Bandpass Filter Using Step Impedance Resonators of Coaxial Type

The present paper is purposeful that I compare the materialization method of the filter of UIR and SIR, then make two filters of different methods, so both are useful. The structure of the method of UIR is simple, so it is used a commercial point of view that the client gets the characteristics what he wants. However, the needs of companies when compared to the same standards, a little more cheaply in price, a little smaller in size, better performance characteristics are expected. In this regard, the method of SIR is smaller than UIR in size, but it shows the similar characteristics of UIR, so it is expected that holds a dominant position in competitive power. In this paper, based on these conditions, I compared the methods of SIR and UIR after the design and production. The standards are Insertion Loss is less than 0.8dB, Return Loss is above 20.0dB, and the Ripple is within 0.3dB. The center frequency is settled 881.5MHzband that TX Band is used by CDMA(SKT). I compared in the same conditions in Bandwidth 25.0MHz.
Scrambling Technology in MPEG Video Environment

With the advance of multimedia technology, multimedia sharing among multiple devices has become the main issue. This allows users to expect the peer-to-peer distribution of unprotected and protected contents over public network. Inevitably, this situation has caused an incredible piracy activity and Web sites have begun to provide copyrighted A/V data for free. In order to, protect the contents from illegal attacks and distribution, digital right management (DRM) is required. In this paper, we present the minimal cost scrambling scheme for securing the copyrighted multimedia using the data encryption standard (DES) encryption technique. Experimental results indicate that the proposed scrambling techniques achieve a very good compromise between several desirable properties such as speed, security, and file size.
SMIL Authoring System for Multimedia Object Presentation

Single Tone Detection Algorithm for Improve on Auto White Balance of Mobile Phone Camera

In this paper, we proposed Single Tone Detection Algorithm for prevent decoloration and color distortion of single tone image in auto white balance of mobile phone camera. Conventional auto white balance which accomplish very well using complex color images, but there are some problems if input images are single tone image or included large part of single tone. If input images are singlet one, or included large part of single tone, which cause decoloration or distorted color in output images. In this paper, we proposed single tone detection algorithm using color histogram data for solve decoloration or distorted color problems. If this algorithm is applied to auto white balance, it will be improvement in auto white balance.
The 2D Drawing-Based Authoring Tool for Scientific Inquiry Learning Virtual Environments

This paper describes a new visual VR authoring tool called DEVISE (Drawing Environment for VR-based Inquiry-learning Science Education) which is designed to support scientific inquiry learning. DEVISE allows users with no programming expertise to easily build the science inquiry learning VR contents by using 2D drawing interface to place 3D objects and specify properties of the virtual worlds or objects. This paper first describes the related works of VR authoring tools and inquiry learning virtual environments. It also explains SASILE, an integrated virtual environment system for supporting science inquiry learning, and its problems. Then, it describes DEVISE system components and its workflow, and it discusses the observation results of user evaluations of developing science inquiry-learning VR contents.
Design of 2-D IIR Digital Filters Based on a Particle Swam Optimization

This paper presents an efficient design method of 2-D infinite impulse response(IIR) digital filter based on a particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm. The design task is reformulated as a constrained minimization problem and is solved by our newly developed PSO algorithm. To ensure the stability of the designed 2-D IIR digital filters, a new stability strategy is embedded in the basic PSO algorithm. The superiority of the proposed method is demonstrated by several experiments. The results show that the approximation error of the resultant filters are better than those of the digital filters which designed by recently published filter design methods. The proposed design method can also obtain the stable2-D IIR digital filters.
A Study on Adaptive Interference Canceller of Wireless Repeater for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access System

In this paper, as the mobile communication service is widely used and the demand for wireless repeaters is rapidly increasing because of the easiness of extending service areas. But a wireless repeater has a problem the oscillation due to feedback signal. We proposed a new hybrid interference canceller using the adaptive filter with CMA(Constant Modulus Algorithm)-Grouped LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm in the adaptive interference canceller. The proposed interference canceller has better channel adaptive performance and a lower MSE(Mean Square Error) than conventional structure because it uses the cancellation method of Grouped LMS algorithm. The proposed detector uses the LMS algorithms with two different step size to reduce mean square error and to obtain fast convergence. This structure reduces the number of iterations for the same MSE performance and hardware complexity compared to conventional nonlinear interference canceller.
Performance Prediction of Interleave-Division Multiple Access Scheme based on Log-likelihood Ratio (LLR) for An Efficient 4G Mobile Radio System

This paper presents a prediction mechanism of performance for an efficient interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) scheme that is being considered as 4th generation mobile radio system. The scheme is based upon log-likelihood ratio (LLR) to predict the performance of the IDMA. The conventional IDMA system simply passes the LLR values to a coarse estimation process in the receiver over a pre-defined number of iterations for an acceptable performance. The proposed IDMA system uses the LLRs to predict its BER performance and thus the iterative operation at the receiver can significantly be reduced when the performance attains an acceptable level. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme of the IDMA with the LLRs used for the prediction provides a comparable BER performance. The use of the LLRs can facilitate an efficient design of the IDMA system that is a strong candidate system for 4G mobile radio systems.
Implementation of ARM11 Platform for Gas Sensor Based on Embedded Linux

This paper focuses on the implementation of hand held typeARM11 Platform for gas sensor based on Embedded Linux OS. The S3C6400, which is ARM11 architecture based, is the key component of the ARM11 Platform, Bluetooth is adapted to consist the network for the wireless transmission of environmental data between a sensor node and hand held type ARM11 Platform. Linux is ported to the Platform, QT/embedded is used for the application development.
A Scalable and Effective DDS Participant Discovery Mechanism

The DDS (Data Distribution Service) is a data-centric communication technology that provides an efficient communication service that supports a dynamic plug & play through an automatic setting of participants' location information for each data (Topic) by using DDS discovery technique. This paper proposes the hierarchical-structured DDS discovery technique (SPDP-TBF) suitable for the large-scale distributed systems by comparing and analyzing the existing DDS discovery techniques in terms of performance and problem areas. The proposed SPDP-TBF performs the periodic discovery of the involved participants only by having separate hierarchical managers which take charge of the registration and search (of participants) so that a participant sends its information to the related participants only, and it enhances the effectiveness of the message transfer. Moreover, the proposed SPDP-TBF provides the improved scalability by performing the hierarchical discovery through hierarchical manager nodes so that it can be applied to the large-scale distributed system.
Research of the Quality of IPTV over IP Network

The multimedia contents are diffused rapidly. Also, the course individual service of communication and broadcasting coexists with each other and develop to the integrated fusion service with development of the high speed broadband IP network technology. The IPTV which is representative broadcasting a communication total service is the powerful application field. The communication industry has been interested in data processing of the high-definition that supports many kinds of internet service by internet protocol. In this paper, we configure the standard routing protocol use in the small scaled, on RIP environment and the link status routing protocol use the large scale autonomous network, on OSPF environment. We also measure and evaluate broadcasting quality by PSNR(Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio). Finally, we propose the network construction plan for IPTV services which are efficient.
A Study of Real-Time Scheduling Algorithms for Automotive System

Recently, the automobile industry is going through drastic environmental changes. The relative importance of information technology rapidly developed so far is getting heavier as it is grafted to electrical and electronic areas among all other automobile-related technologies. In this paper, an improved algorithm from the real-time scheduling algorithm of operation system which is loaded in embedded system will be presented. The number of wait-queue of priority was reduced from 16 to 4 in the parts where wide differences were shown in scheduling algorithm of the existing OSEK OS. While the FIFO algorithm was used in wait-queue, the EDF algorithm was applied to the proposed scheduling algorithm, which more improved the real-timeness. Also a simple experiment on the proposed scheduling algorithm was conducted.
Design of an Asynchronous eFuse One-Time Programmable Memory IP of 1 Kilo Bits Based on a Logic Process

We propose a low-power eFuse one-time programmable (OTP) memory cell based on a logic process. The eFuse OTP memory cell uses separate transistors optimized at program and read mode, and reduces an operation current at read mode by reducing parasitic capacitances existing at both WL and BL. Asynchronous interface, separate I/O, BL SA circuit of digital sensing method are used for a low-power and small-area eFuse OTP memory IP. We propose a low-power and high-speed client receiver for a mobile display digital interface (MDDI) newly in this paper. A Study on Development of Oscillator Measurement Device Using Double Edge Time Interval Frequency Counter

In this paper, we have developed the test equipment to measure performance of oscillator using Double Side Edge Trigger(DSET). This DSET increases counting number of micro pulse by frequency counter, which will successfully reduce the half measuring time to comparison with the existing counter by using DSET. This new concept of performance measuring equipment provides a high productivity and performance improvement.
The Wet and Dry Etching Process of Thin Film Transistor

Conventionally, etching is first considered for microelectronics fabrication process and is specially important in process of a-Si:H thin film transistor for LCD. The NPR layer by inverting pattern of upper gate electrode is patterned and the n+a-Si:H layer is etched by the NPR pattern. The NPR layer is removed. After Cr layer is deposited and patterned, the source-drain electrode is formed. In the fabricated TFT, the most frequent problems are over and under etching in etching process. We were able to improve properties of device by strict criterion on wet, dry etching and cleaning process.
Response Properties of Meridians for focused variable electromagnetic stimulus

It is a method to treat pain using medication, neurotomy, and surgery. And acupuncture, ultrasound, electric treatment, and magnetic treatment are applied as a alternative physiotherapy. Electronic therapy is useful but it can be affected by impedance of skin or subcutaneous tissue. So, percutaneous stimulation is leading therapy, that is very randomly. We developed the system which can stimulate parts of acupuncture point noninvasively using the focused magnetic field. And we designed the magnetic stimulation electrode which is considered efficiency of the magnetic stimulation. It can make similar stimulation with manual acupuncture. To confirm the availability and reliability we compared Meridian Electronic Potential(MEP) change between manual acupuncture and magnetic stimulation. From this result, we found out the MEP changes of manual acupuncture and magnetic stimulation were similar. And there were various response properties as changes of stimulation method, intensity, and frequency. Also, the MEP change can be induced by electromagnetic stimulation. We confirmed that it is possible to use electromagnetic stimulation as a acupoint stimulation or pain treatment instrument.
Flow control for multimedia service in wireless networks

As the wireless internet grows exponentially, the recent trend has an increasing demand for wireless network and multimedia services. RTP is used to support the multimedia communication over the Internet and it supports the flexibility and adaptability over a wide range. However, RTP has a limitation that it cannot support end-to-end QoS guarantee in a wireless home network which has low throughput and high delay. In this paper, we propose the architecture of a real-time multimedia communication and design and implement the hybrid flow control in the architecture. The hybrid flow control mechanism is based on modified AIMD using metrics such as the network state information and the user properties. We implement the porposed flow control using JMF to evaluate the performance of the proposed flow control. The experimental results show that the proposed flow control has better performance than the AIMD.
An efficient channel searching method based on channel list for independent type cognitive radio systems

In this paper, we consider an independent type cognitive radio system where secondary users can utilize empty channels that are not currently used by primary users having the license to these channels. In the previous works, secondary users search channels sequently or randomly to detect activities of primary user on channels. These channel searching methods however are not suitable to the characteristics of the wireless environment. Therefore, we propose a channel searching method based on the channel list for the purpose of reducing the channel searching time and improving the throughput of secondary users. In the proposed method, we firstly determine weighting value of each channel based on the history of channel activities of primary users and add the weighing value to current channel state buffer. And then, we search an empty channel from channel with smallest value to one with the biggest value. Finally, we compare the performances of the proposed method with those of the sequential channel searching and the random channel searching methods in terms of average channel searching time and average number of transmissions of secondary user.
Detection of Pupil using Template Matching Based on Genetic Algorithm in Facial Images

In this paper, we propose a robust eye detection method using template matching based on genetic algorithm in the single facial image. The previous works for detecting pupil using genetic algorithm had a problem that the detection accuracy is influnced much by the initial population for it's random value. Therefore, their detection result is not consistent. In order to overcome this point we extract local minima in the facial image and generate initial populations using ones that have high fitness with a template. Each chromosome consists of geometrical informations for the template image. Eye position is detected by template matching. Experiment results verify that the proposed eye detection method improve the precision rate and high accuracy in the single facial image.
SLAM based on feature map for Autonomous vehicle

This paper is presented an simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm using ultrasonic for robot and electric compass, encoder, and gyro. Generally, localization based upon electric compass, encoder, and gyro can be measured just local position in workspace. However, actual robot must need an information of the absolute position in workspace to perform its mission, Absolute position in workspace could be calculated using SLAM algorithm. To implement SLAM in this paper, a map is built using ultrasonic sensor and hierarchical map building method. And then, we the map will be transformed into a feature map. The absolute position could be calculated using the feature map and map mapping method. As a test bed, we designed and construct an autonomous robot and showed the experimental performance of the proposed SLAM algorithm based on feature map. Experimental result, we verified that robot can found all absolute position on experiments using proposed SLAM algorithm.
Context-data Generation Model using Probability functions and Situation Propagation Network

Probabilistic distribution functions based data generation method is very effective. Probabilistic distribution functions are defined under the assumption that daily routine contexts are mainly depended on a time-based schedule. However, daily life contexts are frequently determined by previous contexts because contexts have consistency and/or sequential flows. In order to refect previous contexts effect, a situation propagation network is proposed in this paper. As proposed situation propagation network make parameters of related probabilistic distribution functions update, generated contexts can be more realistic and natural. Through the simulation study, proposed context-data generation model generated general outworker's data about 11 daily contexts at home. Generated data are evaluated with respect to reduction of ambiguity and confliction using newly defined indexes of ambiguity and confliction of sequential contexts. In conclusion, in case of combining situation propagation network with probabilistic distribution functions, ambiguity and confliction of data can be reduced 6.45% and 4.60% respectively.
A Study of Key Node Search in Reconnaissance Surveillance Sensor Networks

Sensor network for the human approach in a difficult area and a wide range of surveillance and the boundaries for the purpose and mission is the utilization significantly. In this paper we searched important nodes from the surveillance reconnaissance sensor network based on the virtual data. we generated data within the sensor's measurement range in the data transmitted from sensor nodes, and used PCA(Principle Component Analysis) for searching key node. If the important sensor node searched, and we can have easy management and establishing security measures when security problems is happened about nodes. This is for the sensor network in terms of effectiveness and cost-effectively and is directly connected with life span.
Event and Service registry system for USN Application Services

In ubiquitous environment, various and amount of sensor data information occur continuously and periodically about thing and user from RHO, sensor network of various space. Such, the users from among many of provider who provide sensor service should find service that themselves is wanted. And when service use, service right to user should be provided. But in the current environment of the USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) Application Service, there is no the registry to find these services but only business- oriented UDDI(Universal Description Discovery, and integration). In addition, when service use, service right to user should be provided but current services provided only services one of the conditions or events. Therefore, rules-based processing system of service event that can provide service according various conditions and events is need. In this paper research into service registry for sensor service search with reference to existing UDDI and event processing system for USN application service with reference to event rule based on web service as WS-ECA(Web Service-Event Condition Action).
The Effects of Programming Lessons using 'Dolittle' on Logical Thinking

What matters in the society of knowledge and information is not that they just know certain facts, but that when faced with new situations, they should be able to develop novel ideas, apply them and do the problems or the tasks confronting them. This cannot be achieved through learning of mere knowledge. Computer programming lessons have shown positive effects on general thinking ability, metacognitive aspects, and logical thinking. The ACM has suggested that 8th grade students at the first level (second year students of middle school) be educated in programming languages such as LOGO to raise their ability to think logically. Previous studies have confirmed educational programming languages such as LOGO and BASIC, which are currently used, are helpful in improving the ability to think logically and to solve problems. However these languages lack connectivity with later learning. Little research has been done on 'Dolittle', an educational programming language, newly developed, using object-oriented notions. Few studies have been made of the effects of 'Dolittle' on the ability to think logically. The following results were obtained. The research didn't lead to a statistically significant improvement of the students' cognitive development level. However, proportional logic and combinational logic, among the six subcategories of logic, improved through the introduction of 'Dolittle' programming lessons. This leads to the conclusion that in the processing of solving the problems given, the students learned by themselves and improved their ability to think logically.
A Simulation of Advanced Multi-dimensional Isotachophoretic Protein Separation for Optimal Lab-on-a-chip Design

In this paper, a computer simulation is developed for isotachophoretic protein separation in a serpentine micro channel for optimal lab on a chip design using 2D Finite Element Method. This 2D ITP model is composed of 5 components such as hydrochloric acid as Leader, caproic acid as terminator, acetic acid and benzoic acid as two proteins, and histindine as background electrolyte. The computer model is based on mass conservation equation for 5 components, charge conservation equation for electric potential, and electro neutrality condition for pH calculation. For the validation of the 2D spatial ITP model, the results are compared with the Simul5 developed by Bohuslav Gas Group. The simulation results are in a good agreement in a ID planar channel. This proves the precision of our model. The 2Dproteinseparation is conducted in a 2D curved channel for Lab on a chip design and dispersions of proteins are revealed during the electrophoretic process in a curved shape.
