In this paper amplitude and phase distortion of the received signal through a fading channel results in a severe performance degradation of the communication system, Therefore we consider the variance of the maximum a posteriori phase estimate of sinusoidal signal by the Cramer-Rao bound in wireless fading channel. To find the Cramer-Rao lower bound for the variance of the phase, We use the derived probability density function(pdf) of the phase in Nakagami fading channel. We analyze the error performance of modulation signals using order statistics on generalized combining reception and find adequate diversity branch number.
Distributed Mean Field Genetic Algorithm for Channel Routing

In this paper, we introduce a novel approach to optimization algorithm which is a distributed Mean field Genetic algorithm (MGA) implemented in MPI(Message Passing Interface) environments. Distributed MGA is a hybrid algorithm of Mean Field Annealing(MFA) and Simulated annealing-like Genetic Algorithm(SGA). The proposed distributed MGA combines the benefit of rapid convergence property of MFA and the effective genetic operations of SGA. The proposed distributed MGA is applied to the channel routing problem, which is an important issue in the automatic layout design of VLSI circuits. Our experimental results show that the composition of heuristic methods improves the performance over GA alone in terms of mean execution time. It is also proved that the proposed distributed algorithm maintains the convergence properties of sequential algorithm while it achieves almost linear speedup as the problem size increases.
A Study on Header Compression Algorithm for the Effective Multimedia Transmission over Wireless Network

MoIP is technology to transmit a variety of multimedia over IP, but compared to traditional voice services require greater bandwidth and radio resources in a wireless environment has already reached the limits. Therefore, as a way to resolve this issue for header compression is a lot of research. SCTP protocol header compression using ROHC-SCTP has been research, ROHC-SCTP packet structure of the ROHC algorithm with different types and, SCTP header compression to apply the characteristics of the poor performance of many of these have drawbacks. Therefore, in this paper to solve these problems better header compression algorithm was designed. In this paper, the proposed algorithm to evaluate the NS-2 simulation environment was modeled on the header compression operation. Evaluation results, the algorithm designed in this paper compared to ROHC-SCTP algorithms determine the overhead rate was low, the data types vary a lot better when the total header size was small.
Design and Implementation of iATA-based RAID5 Distributed Storage Servers

iATA (Internet Advanced Technology Attachment) is a block-level protocol developed to transfer ATA commands over TCP/IP network, as an alternative network storage solution to address insufficient storage problem in mobile devices. This paper employs RAID5 distributed storage servers concept into iATA, in which the idea behind is to combine several machines with relatively inexpensive disk drives into a server array that works as a single virtual storage device, thus increasing the reliability and speed of operations. In the case of one machine failed, the server array will not destroy immediately but able to function in a degradation mode. Meanwhile, information can be easily recovered by using boolean exclusive OR (XOR) logical function with the bit information on the remaining machines. We perform I/O measurement and benchmark tool result indicates that additional fault tolerance feature does not delay read/write operations with reasonable file size ranged in 4KB-2MB, yet higher data integrity objective is achieved.

Most online monitoring systems of running currently based on the wired network and local area wireless network generate an increase of administrative costs such as synchronization of data protocol conversion, flexible operation of measurement devices and maintenance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the SMS data transmission protocol which allows multiple data collecting device to manage effectively including implementation method of cdma-based environmental information monitoring system. Also this paper shows operational safety of the proposed protocol and analyzes efficiency of data transfer and operating using SMS.
A Coordinator-based RFID Protocol to Avoid Reader Collision

This paper presents a coordinator-based TDMA reader protocol that can avoid the reader collision in a passive RFID system. In the proposed protocol, the coordinator can not only minimize the number of empty slots by efficiently allocating slots to readers incoming in Poisson distribution, but reduce latency time through the limited frame size. The proposed protocol can be implemented in either mobile or fixed mode through the slot structure to be described in the context. The simulation results show it works as suggested and the frame size limitation as well as the statistical distribution of incoming readers has a great impact on the overall slots and the average latency time.
An Enhanced Location Determination Mechanism for Supporting Location Based Service of Mobile WiMAX Networks

Due to the advancement of mobile wireless networks, various LBS`s (Location Based Service) with the knowledge of mobile station`s current position are emerging. Providing LBS is very essential feature in Mobile WiMAX networks such as WiBro networks for their competitiveness. To this end, WiMAX Forum has established recently the network architecture and protocols for providing LBS and they are included in the Network working group`s release 1.5 documents. Though there have been many research efforts on location determination in Wibro networks, none of them addresses the location determination mechanism complying to Forum`s recent LBS standards. This paper proposes an enhanced TDOA-RTD combined location determination mechanism, which complies to the Forum`s LBS architecture.
Construction of Embedded Data Synchronization Gateway

Nowadays, the major manufacturer of the mobile devices has offered its own solution for the data synchronization. But each manufacturer uses its proprietary data synchronization method so that the compatibility of data can not be guaranteed. To solve such problems, a gateway is needed to convert different forms of data into a unified form of data and vice versa. Some problems have been found in the experiments with the previously implemented gateway. First, a bottleneck state might arise if a number of mobile devices request data synchronization simultaneously. Second, the gateway itself would become a serious vulnerable point to an attack during the process of converting received data. The proposed gateway can solve this bottleneck state and security issue since it converts data and processes synchronization request in a mobile device. In this paper, the proposed gateway is constructed and the results of some experiments with the gateway are presented. According to the results, the proposed gateway operates properly and it is relatively insensitive to the bottleneck state.

In the existing design of web server architecture, data encryption technique is used to keep the reliability, stability, and safety of web service. But the use of data encryption technique wastes the work of cpu while decreasing throughput of web server and increasing average response time so that it shows negative effect on the capacity of web application server. Also, the latest web applications require security and safety for the safe internet communication. Therefore, this paper suggests the improved web server which uses thread pool and Non-blocking I/O adding new web service modules to the existing web server for the safe web service, provides reliability and safety to show the safe web service capacity. And we compare and evaluate the safety and capacity through experiment on the existing traditional Tomcat based web server and the proposed system to evaluate the safety and capacity of the proposed web server system.
Design and Implementation of IEC 61162-4 based TLI Protocol for e-Navigation on Ship

In this paper, we propose a transmission algorithm of the TLI protocol of the IEC 61162-4 standard to perform the e-Navigation on ship, and we design and implement the TLI protocol according to the proposed algorithm. The implemented protocol is a TCP/IP based protocol, and is a network protocol with the MAU and LNA components proposed in the IEC 61162-4 standard. In addition, it makes a data transmission over the network architecture based on client/server network model. In the implemented protocol, there are a communication between the MAU and the LNA in one host, and also a communication between the LNA and the LNA in each other hosts. In order to provide a variety of service in a host, every client host has a LNA and multiple MAUs. According to the standard specification and the proposed transmission algorithm, we designed and implemented the TLI protocol using object-oriented mechanism. We carried out the experiment under a simple network model similar to real ship environment, and confirmed that it successfully transmits and receives data between the hosts.

MiTS communication is a protocol for the exchange of various information among shipboard systems. It also specifies more than 30 specialized message formats for the information exchange. To build MiTS systems, therefore, the messages should be processed consistently. This paper proposes the design and implementation of such message processing modules. It also describes the test results of the implemented modules.
A Fast Shortest Path Algorithm Between Two Points inside a Segment-Visible Polygon

The shortest path between two points inside a simple polygon P is a minimum-length path among all paths connecting them which don`t pass by the exterior of P. A linear time algorithm for computing the shortest path in a general simple polygon requires triangulating a polygon as preprocessing. The linear time triangulating is known to very complex to understand and implement it. It is also inefficient in case that the input without very large size is given because its time complexity has a big constant factor. In this paper, we present the customized shortest path algorithm for a segment-visible polygon which is a simple polygon weakly visible from an internal line segment. Our algorithm doesn`t require triangulating as preprocessing and consists of simple procedures such as construction of convex hulls, so it is easy to implement and runs very fast in linear time.

In this paper, we propose the simplified and improved system of One Color Detector to protect color distortion of simple color images in the processed of Auto White Balance (AWB). The proposed One Color Detector is based on Grayworld algorithm which controls color compensation except one color in simple image and widely applies for mobile phone camera because of high efficiency. This system can be suitable for diverse image size, and let user control the threshold in diverse size and environments compared with conventional system. Also the hardware size of the proposed system is reduced by 80% over that of the conventional one.
A Side Information Generation Using Adaptive Estimation and Its Performance Comparison in PDWZ CODEC

DVC (Distributed Video Coding) allows us to explore the video statistics at the decoder side, resulting in a less complex encoder and more complex decoder. In this approach, it is important to generate a good prediction to the current Wyner-Ziv frame, called side information, which plays a crucial role in the overall performance of a DVC system. Conventional MCFI (motion compensated frame interpolation) techniques, which explore temporal correlations between neighbor frames of the current frame, preform the block-based or object-based motion estimation, but, they do not include the basis frame for the Wyner-Ziv frame. This paper proposes an efficient way to get better side information, by finding the average frame between neighbor frames and by comparing adaptively the candidate blocks. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed method can improve the performance up to 0.4dB and provide better subjective and objective visual qualities in Wyner-Ziv CODEC.

At a recent, enterprises based on online-service are established because of rapid growth of information network. These enterprises collect personal information and do customer management. If customers use a paid service, company send billing information to customer and customer pay it. Such circulation and management of information is big issue but most companies don`t care of information security. Actually, personal information that was managed by largest internal open-market was exposed. For safe customer information management, this paper proposes the method that decrease load of RSA cryptography algorithm that is commonly used for preventing from illegal attack or hacking. The method for decreasing load was designed by Binary NAF Method and it can operates modular Exponentiation rapidly. We implemented modular Exponentiation algorithm using existing Binary Method and Windows Method and compared and evaluated it.

In this paper, we design and implement the iMPS(Integrated Project Management system). The iMPS is used in the performance evaluation which establishes the systematic management of support for Industry-Academy-Research Cooperation. The implemented iPMS mainly contain functions. First, the search function produces a report for result on the status of numerous projects and allows administrators to track project status in a excel file format. Second, the management function produces a performance evaluation, monitoring. Applying the iPMS to management of Busan-Ulsan Association of industry-academy cooperation, its usefulness is from the results of web service.

Customized Diet Information System

Since a `Well-being` theme had become an issue in 90`s, everyone now care about their health more than ever. Besides, IT has been developed so tremendously that we have various ways to collect up-to-dated information through the internet. There are so many web sites that contain information about health and diet. However, the menus of these web sites are not simplified and the content is too large, so the information we see in those web sites may not be accurate. Also, some information is out-of-dated. In this paper, we propose a web site called `Calory&Diet` that provides customized information on diet. The characteristics of the web site are as following: First, the menu is so simple that users can easily find information they want. Second, it only provides necessary customized information. Lastly, it uses an open application that helps users always get the latest information without DB updates. With its user friendly menu and feedback information, the proposed web site can be a good advisor for people who want to be healthy. 100 offers the user survey results than existing systems, simple system to 2%, 3% from a custom-related topics, the latest related topics were 3% higher on 5 point scale.
Design of Low-Power Media Bus

The audio data have been communicated using analog methods or simple protocols. However, with the advent and improvement of various multimedia functions, many audio devices have been integrated into a mobile handset in which interconnection lines are very complicated. Conventional point-to-point connections such as
and PCM demand more power consumption whenever more devices are attached. In this paper, we design a common bus digital audio interface that communicates with only two wires and employs the clock gear method to reduce bus power consumption. The comparison results show that the proposed common bus connection can reduce more than 30% of power consumption as compared with point-to-point connection if more than three devices are connected.
A Design of Direct Memory Access (DMA) Controller For H.264 Encoder

In this paper, an attempt has been made to design the controller applicable for H.264 level3 encoder of baseline profile on full hardware basis. The designed controller module first stores the images supplied from CMOS Image Sensor(CIS) at main memory, and then reads or stores the image data in macroblock unit according to encoder operation. The timing cycle of the DMA controller required to process a macroblock is 478 cycles. In order to verify the our design, reference-C encoder, which is compatible to JM 9.4, is developed and the designed controller is verified by using the test vector generated from the reference C code. The number of cycle in the designed DMA controller is reduced by 40% compared with the cycle of using Xilinx MIG.
Performance and Power Consumption Improvement of Embedded RISC Core

This paper presents a branch prediction algorithm and a 4-way set-associative cache for performance improvement of embedded RISC core and a clock-gating algorithm using ODC (Observability Don`t Care) operation to improve the power consumption of the core. The branch prediction algorithm has a structure using BTB(Branch Target Buffer) and 4-way set associative cache has lower miss rate than direct-mapped cache. Pseudo-LRU Policy, which is one of the Line Replacement Policies, is used for decreasing the number of bits that store LRU value. The clock gating algorithm reduces dynamic power consumption. As a result of estimation of performance and dynamic power, the performance of the OpenRISC core applied the proposed architecture is improved about 29% and dynamic power of the core using Chartered
technology library is reduced by 16%.
Design of high speed data processing controller for the full color LED display board system

In this paper, the new efficient drive control technology based on the conventional full-color electric display board image processing method is proposed. This technology can be applied to high-fidelity large size panel TV and LCD Display, and makes high-fidelity-display-drive control possible in those. The proposed drive control technology can strengthen the image processing function of the conventional technology. Also, the automatic or manual adjustment of contrast, bright, tint, color, gamma revision, etc. can help to achieve high-fidelity vision. This technology can be adopted with lower price.
Shape Descriptor for 3D Foot Pose Estimation

This paper proposes the effective shape descriptor for 3D foot pose estimation. To reduce processing time, silhouette-based foot image database is built and meta information which involves the 3D pose of the foot is appended to the database. And we proposed a modified Centroid Contour Distance whose size of the feature space is small and performance of pose estimation is better than the others. In order to analyze performance of the descriptor, we evaluate time and spatial complexity with retrieval accuracy, and then compare with the previous methods. Experimental results show that the proposed descriptor is more effective than the previous methods on feature extraction time and pose estimation accuracy.

Researches of Healthcare have been fulfilled lively with an advanced age and change of lifestyles. Especially, medical field has focused on researches of Healthcare due to that reasons. The Healthcare service requires the foundation technologies, such as sensor aggregating, data saving and data transmitting/analysis. In this research, we proposed the unrestricted equipment which can save a lot of aggregated patient`s medical data to guarantee the patient`s movement in Healthcare service. Moreover, we research the method which can transmit the aggregated data as soon as possible. Also, we implemented the system which can transmit the patient`s medical data automatically for convenient use.

In this paper, we propose a focusable table component for mobile application to support table form representation of various contents and manipulation such as focusing on the contents using the WFC which is a software module to support components of the window based GUI package. It is not easy for us to express contents with table attributes on mobile devices. Java provides several table components, but these are not suitable on the mobile environment. So we design and develop the extended table component to provide properly table form representation and manipulation on the mobile devices. Also, we provide a performance comparison between th supposed table component and Java Swing`s JTable.

XML Web Service is a new distributed computing paradigm for combining all computer systems through the on-line standardized open network, so it is expected that companies can get the results of increasing profits and reducing costs through this. Especially XML Web Service is essential in mobile environment. In this paper, a new XML Web Service is proposed and it is based on WIPI-based XML standard technology and mobile web service standard. The proposed XML Web Service embodied XML Parser which can be used in WIPI environment and made HTTP communication. In addition, as an example of the practical application, it was applied to an inventory Management, Book Store using JAVA language for WIPI.
Performance of an Adaptive-MCM System with Combining AMC and MIMO Schemes

The proposal set out in this paper, is the Adaptive-MCM(Modulation, Coding and MIMO) system, which results from the combination of adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) schemes. The performance of this system is analyzed through computer simulation. By using the MIMO scheme adaptively as well, the proposed Adaptive-MCM system, presents a better improvement of data rate and error performance compared to the AMC system. The throughput performance of the Adaptive-MCM system is analyzed and compared with the throughput performance of Non-Adaptive-MCM Systems. As a result of the simulation, we can infer that, at a fixed MCM level, there is an improvement of the trade-off between secure Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and a high data rate. Consequently, this trade-off improvement results in a better average data rate.
Design and Implementation of an Learning System based on Mobile Environments using Personal Study Information

Many learning methods are recently being proposed for web-based remote education and a method commonly applied to web-based learning is learning through questions. In the existing methods, the difficulty of questions is chosen by learners in accordance with their level or questions are selected dynamically. As these methods are simply based on difference among questions presented, however, it is hardly possible for learners to study according to their abilities. To solve the problem, we adjusted the difficulty of questions presented based on information on individuals` weak points for different types of questions. Under the system individuals can learn by applying information on their abilities with regard to the type and difficulty of questions repeatedly, so the system can provide more effective distance learning. To overcome space restrictions in learning, also, we design and implement a mobile study system on the top of PDA platforms.
A Study on Noise Reduction Method using Wavelet Approximation Coefficient-based Distribution Characteristics

The degradation phenomenon caused by noises significantly corrupts digitalized data. Therefore, a variety of methods to preserve the edge component of signals and remove noise simultaneously have been used in time domain and frequency domain. In this paper, we have proposed a new noise reduction algorithm using wavelet approximation coefficients to reduce the mixed noise overlapping the signal. The proposed algorithm adopts the distribution characteristics of the error function which is obtained by accumulating the wavelet approximation coefficients, in order to improve the capability to separate edges of the signal and noises.
WOBR : A WebDAV-Based OSGi Bundle Repository Supporting Effective Group Access

The OSGi framework is a java-based service platform that can be remotely managed, providing an application life cycle management model, a service registry and an execution environment. Based on the framework, various OSGi layers, APIs, and services have been defined. A bundle is an application that can be executed in the OSGi framework, deployed through a bundle repository. Usually, bundles in the repository are accessible via a designated web page. Unfortunately, the current bundle repositories do not provide any kind of group access services and dynamic bundle installation and deployment. In this paper, we describe a WebDAV-Based OSGi bundle repository named WOBR, which supports effective group-based accesses. WOBR is composed of a WOBR bundle repository, a management bundle and an access bundle that interact with the bundle repository. The management bundle is for configuration of the WOBR bundle repository, managing group access facility to the repository. The access bundle provides access to the repository and search mechanism for the bundles. Additionally, it provides the life cycle management of the installed bundles on the local environment.
Classification Prediction Error Estimation System of Microarray for a Comparison of Resampling Methods Based on Multi-Layer Perceptron

In genomic studies, thousands of features are collected on relatively few samples. One of the goals of these studies is to build classifiers to predict the outcome of future observations. There are three inherent steps to build classifiers: a significant gene selection, model selection and prediction assessment. In the paper, with a focus on prediction assessment, we normalize microarray data with quantile-normalization methods that adjust quartile of all slide equally and then design a system comparing several methods to estimate `true` prediction error of a prediction model in the presence of feature selection and compare and analyze a prediction error of them. LOOCV generally performs very well with small MSE and bias, the split sample method and 2-fold CV perform with small sample size very pooly. For computationally burdensome analyses, 10-fold CV may be preferable to LOOCV.
