Design and Fabrication of the Push-push Dielectric Resonator Oscillator using a LTCC

The push-push DRO(dielectric resonator oscillator) using a multi-layer structure of LTCC(low temperature co-fired ceramic) fabrication is designed. After the single DRO of series feedback type in the center frequency of 8GHz is designed, the push-push DRO in the center frequency of 16GHz including the Wilkinson power combiner is designed. The bias circuit affecting the size of oscillator are embedded in the intermediate layer of the LTCC multi-layer substrate. As a result, the large reduction in the size of VCO is obtained compared to the general oscillator on the single layer substrate. Experimental results show that the fundamental and third harmonics suppression are above 15dBc and 25dBc, respectively, and phase noise characteristics of the push-push DRO presents performance of -102dBc/Hz@100KHz and -128dBc/Hz@1MHz offset frequencies from carrier.
Design and Fabrication of Dual-Band Patch Antenna with Bridge for WLAN Applications

In this paper, Double rectangular patch with 4-bridges is investigated for solution of IEEE 802.11b/g(2.4GHz) and 802.11a(5.7GHz). Rectangular patch for 5.7GHz frequency band is printed on the PCB substrate and connected to another rectangular patch for 2.4GHz frequency band with 4-bridges to obtain dual band operation in a antenna element. The proposed antenna has a low profile and is fed by
coaxial line. The dielectric constant of the designed antenna substrate is 3.27. Two rectangular patches have each resonance frequencies that are 2.4GHz and 5.7GHz. A dual-band characteristic is shown as connecting two rectangular patch using four bridges. Also, the proposed antenna is shown input return loss that is below -10dB at 2.4GHz and 5.7GHz of WLAN(Wireless LAN).

This is an example of ABSTRACT format. This study proposes a hypertension management system that implements a signal collision avoidance algorithm for RFID tags and enables accurate medical services for hypertension patients. The proposed system enables the mobile RFID reader to accurately recognize the RFID tag signals emitted from the patient by using OR logic. Moreover, the system adopts a multi-agent approach to provide and manage information on patient condition and automated medical service in a mobile environment.
A Study on the Performance Improvement of GMDH Algorithm by Feedback

The GMDH(Group Method of Data Handling) algorithm can be used to predict the complex nonlinear systems. The traditional GMDH algorithm produces the prdicted output of the system model in the output layer through the input layer and the intermediate layers as the prescribed process. The outputs of each layer are produced only by the outputs of the former layer. However, in the traditional GMDH algorithm, though the optimal structure of each layer is derived, the overall structure may not be derived optimally. To overcome this problem, GMDH prediction model which has the overall optimal structure is constructed by feeding back the error between the predicted output and the real output. This can make the prediction more precise. The capability improvement of the proposed algorithm compared to the traditional algorithm is verified through computer simulation.
Parity Discrimination by Perceptron Neural Network

This paper proposes a parity discrimination algorithm which discriminates N bit parity using a perceptron neural network and back propagation algorithm. This algorithm decides minimum hidden unit numbers when discriminates N bit parity. Therefore, this paper implements parity discrimination experiments for N bit by changing hidden unit numbers of the proposed perceptron neural network. Experiments confirm that the proposed algorithm is possible to discriminates N bit parity.

The Wireless Mesh Network uses a wireless communication technology with transmission rates simular to a cable which is used as a backbone networks. The topology structure is in a Mesh form which resembles an Ad-hoc networks. However, a metric is needed in order to set the channel access control method to operate intentions and interior motions are different. In this document, an efficient channel for delivering datas to improve access controls to a wireless mesh networks. The improved performance of the proposed plan is for a hidden and exposed mesh client through an exclusive channels to perform a proposed and analyzed methods.
Performance Evaluation of MC-DS-CDMA Systems over Time Variant Channels

MC-DS-CDMA is technique where a single data symbol is transmitted at multiple subcarriers which are orthogonal to each other. With this technique, frequency diversity can be achieved. Time variant channels lead to interchannel interference which increases the bit error rate for MC-DS-CDMA systems. The performance of PSAM MC-DS-CDMA system over time variant channels is analyzed. The BER performance of this system over multipath fading environment is evaluated, considering the channel estimation error, carrier frequency offset.
Asynchronous IR-UWB ranging system

In this paper, we propose an asynchronous IR-UWB ranging system based on the two-way ranging protocol. The periodic pulse sequence is used to measure a distance between two devices. At the receiver, a received signal is first transformed into a frequency-domain signal using an analog correlator bank and digital signal processing is followed in the frequency-domain. This make it possible for the system to use an ADC with a conversion speed of pulse rate. The proposed algorithm at the receiver side includes a peak detection procedure using mutipath channel compensation and matched filtering, and retransmits a pulse sequence synchronized with the detected peak. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified from simulation results where the CM1 channel is assumed.

EMR(Electronic Medical Record) is being broadly used in general medical institution, but it could be more efficient and convenient if patients could use it themselves. Because present EMR is the formula written by medical experts with professional words, the patient can not identify his detailed symptoms and even the name of disease. Otherwise, the patient should have many efforts for obtaining his medical records. To solve this problem, this study developed Patient-Accessible EMR system, which was founded as one of patient-centric medical services, and it shows that the patient can take his medical information without medical experts.
Greedy Precedent Frame Transmission Technique in VOD System

Recently, with the advance of computing and networking technique, the high speed internet becomes widespread, however, it is still hard job to do streaming the media which requires high network bandwidth over the internet. Previous VoD system researches for streaming over the internet mainly proposed techniques that controls the QoS(Quality of Service) of the media in proportion to the network status. Though, this could be the solution for the service provider while the service user who wants constant QoS may not satisfy with variable QoS. In the paper, we propose greedy precedent frame transmission technique, GPFT, for guarantee of constant QoS. In GPFT, Streaming VoD server prefetches precedent frames and transmits the frame greedily by increasing the frame transmission rate while the available network bandwidth is high. The GPFT uses the prefetched precedent frames to guarantee the QoS while the available network bandwidth is low. The experiment result shows that the proposed GPFT could guarantee the constant QoS by prefetching the frames adaptively to the network bandwidth with the characteristic of video stream.
A Phase-related Feature Extraction Method for Robust Speaker Verification

Additive noise and channel distortion strongly degrade the performance of speaker verification systems, as it introduces distortion of the features of speech. This distortion causes a mismatch between the training and recognition conditions such that acoustic models trained with clean speech do not model noisy and channel distorted speech accurately. This paper presents a phase-related feature extraction method in order to improve the robustness of the speaker verification systems. The instantaneous frequency is computed from the phase of speech signals and features from the histogram of the instantaneous frequency are obtained. Experimental results show that the proposed technique offers significant improvements over the standard techniques in both clean and adverse testing environments.
An Efficient Architecture of Inter Layer Up-sampling in Scalable Video Decoder

This paper proposes an efficient architecture of Inter layer up-sampling in decoder for SVC(scalable video coding). A register bank for horizontal and vertical up-sampling and interpolation units are designed, by introducing the proposed architecture, 41% memory bandwidth is reduced compared to JSVM. For real-time operation for HD 6 layer decoder having CIF, SD, HD resolution for CGS layer, the hardware is designed to operate at 127MHz. The gate count is about 3000.
A Study on Design of High-Speed Parallel Multiplier over GF(2

In this paper, we present a new type high speed parallel multiplier for performing the multiplication of two polynomials using standard basis in the finite fields GF(
). Prior to construct the multiplier circuits, we design the basic cell of vector code generator(VCG) to perform the parallel multiplication of a multiplicand polynomial with a irreducible polynomial and design the partial product result cell(PPC) to generate the result of bit-parallel multiplication with one coefficient of a multiplicative polynomial with VCG circuits. The presented multiplier performs high speed parallel multiplication to connect PPC with VCG. The basic cell of VCG and PPC consists of one AND gate and one XOR gate respectively. Extending this process, we show the design of the generalized circuits for degree m and a simple example of constructing the multiplier circuit over finite fields GF(
). Also, the presented multiplier is simulated by PSpice. The multiplier presented in this paper uses the VCGs and PPCS repeatedly, and is easy to extend the multiplication of two polynomials in the finite fields with very large degree m, and is suitable to VLSL.

The algorithm suggested in this paper doesn't require additional correction, because it can calculate correct reciprocal number. In addition, this algorithm uses only multiplier, so additional hardware for division is not required to implement microprocessor. Also, it shows faster speed than the conventional SRT algorithm. In conclusion, results from this study could be used widely for implementation SOC(System on Chip) and etc. which has been restricted to microprocessor and size of the hardware.
Probabilistic Analysis of System Failure

Request operations and release operations occur repeatedly in resource allocation systems. The process requesting a resource acquires one by any priority-based mechanism, and returns the resource after some periods. In this system, resource failures lead to delay of resource allocation, or to termination of process holding the failed resource. To analyze this process effectively, this paper designs a probabilistic ACSR, a process algebra that extends ACSR with the probabilistic choice operation. The ability to express/analyze both request-release rates and failure-recovery rates is illustrated using probabilistic ACSR.

By using lotus notes server-client system, the database related to general information of cancer patients, radiation treatment simulation, cancer treatment information and all kinds of information of radiation oncology department need to be developed for effective information management and also user interface was developed for input and output of information. This database also could be used for clinical study, patient care research and medical education. By the development of this electronic chart of the department of radiation oncology, the clinic datum and medical information management could be connected effectively and treatment information according to treatment machine also could be acquired and contributed for improving treatment efficiency, cutting down the waiting time for clinic.
VTA* Algorithm: A* Path-Finding Algorithm using Variable Turn Heuristic

In driving a car, turns such as left turns, right turns, or u-turns, make the speed of the car decrease considerably. A more straight path, therefore, is probably faster to arrive at the destination than zig-zag path with same distance. In this paper, we have newly proposed the turn heuristic to make more straight path. The path navigation algorithm with turn heuristic(called as TA* algorithm) could enhance the straightness of a path by putting the turned-edges to the turn cost. It requires higher cost to use TA* algorithm than traditional A* algorithm because the straight-edge first searching have increased the search space. We have improved the TA* algorithm into the variable TA* algorithm(called as VTA* algorithm) which adopt the turn-heuristic during the a portion of the whole path.
Project Schedule Notification and Issue Tracking System Based on Social Networking Service on a Smartphone

In this paper, we propose a novel project schedule notification and issue tracking system based on a social networking service for project management on a smartphone. The proposed system has a server subsystem and a client subsystem. The server is in charge of enabling a deadline notification and an issue tracking of the project to project participants by exploiting a legacy social networking service. The client running on a smartphone displays timelines of the project schedule using Gantt chart and let the project participant edit their schedule. The proposed system combines the mobility of smartphones and the connectivity of social networking services and apply them to schedule notification and issue tracking, which demonstrates a novel usage of social networking services.
An Effective Wireless Power Transfer Technique using Permalloy

This paper presents a wireless (contactless) charging technique with a new core material called permalloy. For charging portable devices wirelessly, ferrosilicon or ferrite has been conventionally used. Due to high permeability of permalloy, charging efficiency can be significantly improved and subsequently this high efficiency increases charging distance between charger and portable devices. Comparative experimental studies demonstrate that the charging performance and efficiency with permalloy employed are significantly improved. The proposed wireless charging techniques can be used to charge portable devices efficiently.
Design of Crossbar Switch On-chip Bus for Performance Improvement of SoC

Most of the existing SoCs have shared bus architecture which always has a bottleneck state. The more IPs are in an SOC, the less performance it is of the SOC, Therefore, its performance is effected by the entire communication rather than CPU speed. In this paper, we propose cross-bar switch bus architecture for the reduction of the bottleneck state and the improvement of the performance. The cross-bar switch bus supports up to 8 masters and 16 slaves and parallel communication with architecture of multiple channel bus. Each slave has an arbiter which stores priority information about masters. So, it prevents only one master occupying one slave and supports efficient communication. We compared WISHBONE on-chip shared bus architecture with crossbar switch bus architecture of the SOC platform, which consists of an OpenRISC processor, a VGA/LCD controller, an AC97 controller, a debug interface, a memory interface, and the performance improved by 26.58% than the previous shared bus.
Effect of Substrate temperatures and Working pressures on the properties of the AI-doped ZnO thin films

In this study Al-doped ZnO (AZO) thin films have been fabricated on Eagle 2000 glass substrates at various substrate temperature (
) and working pressure (10 ~ 40 mTorr) by RF magnetron sputtering in order to investigate the structural, electrical, and optical properties of the AZO thin films. The obtained films were polycrystalline with a hexagonal wurtzite structure and preferentially oriented in the (002) crystallographic direction. The AZO thin films, which were deposited at
for 10 mTorr, shows the highest (002) orientation, and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the (002) diffraction peak is

for 10 mTorr. The optical transmittance in the visible region is approximately 80%, regardless of process conditions. The optical band-gap depends on the Al doping level as the substrate temperature increases and the working pressure decrease. The optical band-gap widening is proportional to cartier concentration due to the Burstein-Moss effect.

We have studied to obtain the slanted finger interdigital(SFIT) type filter was formed on the Langasite substrate and was evaporated two IDT electrode by Aluminum-Copper alloy respectively. We can fabricate that the block weighted type IDT as an input transducer of the filter and the withdrawal weighted type IDT as an output transducer of the filter from the results of our computer-simulation. Also, we have performed to obtain the properly design conditions about phase shift conditions of the SPIT type filter. Pseudo Random Pattern Generator based on phase shifters

Since an LFSR(linear feedback shift register) as a pattern generator has solely linear dependency in itself, it generates sequences by moving the bit positions for pattern generation. So the correlation between the generated patterns is high and thus reduces the possibility of fault detection. To overcome these problems many researchers studied to have goodness of randomness between the output test patterns. In this paper, we propose the new and effective method to construct phase shifter as PRPG(pseudo random pattern generator).
A Small-Area Hardware Implementation of Hash Algorithm Standard HAS-160

This paper describes a hardware design of hash function processor which implements Korean Hash Algorithm Standard HAS-160. The HAS-160 processor compresses a message with arbitrary lengths into a hash code with a fixed length of 160-bit. To achieve high-speed operation with small-area, arithmetic operation for step-operation is implemented by using a hybrid structure of 5:3 and 3:2 carry-save adders and carry-select adder. It computes a 160-bit hash code from a message block of 512 bits in 82 clock cycles, and has 312 Mbps throughput at 50 MHz@3.3-V clock frequency. The designed HAS-160 processor is verified by FPGA implementation, and it has 17,600 gates on a layout area of about

Design of A Portable Device for Measuring Heart Rate Using Harmonic Signal and Adaptive Filter

This study proposed a design of a portable device for measuring heart rate using photoplethysmograph signal to minimize load of a nurse increased from insufficiency of an internal hospital nurse, and algorithm to measure reliable heart rate in PPG signals despite the existence of patient's motion artifacts. The proposed method for measuring heart rate is the method to minimize the motion interference by using the adaptive filter based on harmonic characteristic of PPG signal. To evaluate the performances of the a portable device implemented by the proposed method, we used several motion artifacts including finger and wrist movements; we then compared out results with the performance of the moving average filter. In this results, the proposed method showed a better performance than that of the moving average filter. Therefore, when nurses use the a portable device for measuring heart rate proposed in this study, it will enable to improve nurse work and to measure the reliable heart rate.

In this study, a magnetic stimulation (MS) device with controllable pulse forming technology and pulse shape (MS) is described. The MS device uses an IGBT with appropriate snubbers to switch coil currents up to 6 kA, enabling pulse forming technology control from 5 s to over 100 s. The induced electric field pulses use 2% - 34% less energy and generate 57% - 67% less coil heating compared to matched conventional cosine pulses. MS is used to stimulate rhesus monkey motor cortex in vivo with pulse forming technology of 20 to 100 s, demonstrating the expected decrease of threshold pulse amplitude with increasing pulse forming technology. The technological solutions used in the MS prototype can expand functionality, and reduce power consumption and coil heating in MS, enhancing its research and therapeutic applications.
Authentication Protocol of Private Code-based for Advanced Security of RFID System

The use of RFID recently tends to increase and is expected to expand all over the industry and life. However, RFID is much vulnerable to the malign threats such as eavesdropping, replay attack, spoofing attack, location tracking in the process of authentication. In particular, it is difficult to apply authentication protocol used in the other previous system to low-priced RFID tag. After all, this paper suggests the scheme of efficient authentication protocol for RFID privacy protection. Compared to the previous scheme, suggested scheme reinforces the checking process of transmission data and is secure from eavesdropping and spoofing attack. It minimizes the operation work of the tag and is very useful to apply to the low-priced tag. It also has the merit to confirm the efficiency of communication by reducing the communication rounds.
An Implementation of RFID Feeding History System with Improved Tagging Methods in land-based Aquaculture Farms

Many studies using RFID which can identify the movement of targeted objects has been conducted actively. In this paper, we propose improved tagging method to check exactly the amount of fish feed by the aquaculture tank in a land-based aquaculture farm and design the RFID feeding system to perform auto feeding history. Also, we implement the prototype system which it includes development program for auto-identification and auto-recording and self-made RFID feeding cart equipped the weight device, RFID reader, control module and display device.
A Design of a Co-simulator Integrates a System-on-Chip Simulator and Network Simulator for Development Environments of Prototype Network Devices

In the wireless communication protocols, a network device is responsible for the operation of lower-layers. The network device consists of hardware and software modules, so it can be designed using system-on-chip simulator. The simulator design needs the support of a network simulator as well as system-on-chip simulator, because the network device interact with various higher layer communication protocols. Therefore the co-simulator can become a development environment of the network device through the combining of them. In this paper we propose a co-simulator combining these two simulators. The proposed co-simulator does not degrade performance due to integrations. Also, it is easy to integrate them because the implementation of the kernel is independent.

RFID and Kiosk has been acquiring the essential position not only for providing simple information but also as the tool for establishing Ubiquitous based society. Especially it can be said that the time for developing various Kiosks as important methods to conducting marketing and service through the differentiation and easiness on dealing information has come. Considering the present requirement, 'U-Commerce System' has been designed and developed. In the system, the RFID reader installed in 'U-Shop Kiosk System' recognizes the RFID tag on situated the specific products and detail product information and related multimedia advertisement are provided. Moreover, when the customers have the needs to purchase concerned products on the spot, they can pay and order by using credit cards. By employing the system, the amount of stock and delivery condition can be monitored in real time and the gathered information in DB can be used for dealing with stock related matters. In addition, a system can be developed to monitor and manage the remote shops in real time base. Furthermore, to overcome the limit of simple unmanned ubiquitous style Kiosk, the possibility of developing an expansion model of ubiquitous style CRM Kiosk has been suggested.

USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) is a core infrastructure that u-life use to enable the realization in the ubiquitous society through various services of area such as u-city, u-Health. Therefore, we need a research for domestic standards to establish USN technique. Currently, status of USN standards is most standard and research that it is a technology for sensor node implementation and a protocol for energy-efficient communication and interlock with existing network. But, Standard and research for sensor network and integration management of heterogeneous sensor networks for USN application and sensing data management and USN database structure definition such as application and middleware is weak level. In this paper, we researched for standard development of domestic a sensor network and the relevant standard analysis to configure SWE(Sensor Web Enablement) of OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium) for standarded plattform technology. Also we researched that it's a connection between domestic ITA(Telecommunications Technology Association) standards and SWE Standard.
Design and Implementation of a Mobile Ubiquitous Healthcare System

Recently, owing to the development of ubiquitous sensor network and mobile communication technologies, many studies on healthcare system are being carried out. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a mobile u-Healthcare system based on sensor network. The u-Healthcare system is composed of three components: wireless sensor network at home, healthcare center located at remote site, and gateway which relays sensing physiological signals to healthcare center. In order to measure patient's physiological signal three sensors are used: three channel ECG sensor, pulse oximeter, and blood pressure sensor. Each sensor is mounted on a mote which can send gathered signal to the base node using Zigbee communication protocol. Once the base node receives physiological signal from each sensor, the client in the base node transfers the signal to the healthcare center. The received physiological signal at the healthcare center is analyzed and processed using various algorithms. The processed results are compared to the standard healthcare database and appropriate treatment including dietetics and exercise cure would be sent to the patient as feedback using SMS message or healthcare center web site. Each patient can check and manage one's health state every day using the healthcare system and gain a recovery under the treatments from minor health problems.
