The design of high profile H.264 intra frame encoder

In this paper, H.264 high profile intra frame encoder, which integrates intra prediction, context-based adaptive variable length coding(CAVLC), and DDR2 memory control module, is proposed. The designed encoder can be operated in 440 cycle for one-macroblock. In order to verify the encoder function, we developed the reference C from JM 13.2 and verified the developed hardware using test vector generated by reference C. The designed encoder is verified in the FPGA (field programmable gate array) with operating frequency of 200 MHz for DMA (direct memory access), operating frequency of 50 MHz of Encoder module, and 25 MHz for VIM(video input module). The number of LUT is 43099, which is about 20 % of Virtex 5 XC5VLX330.

Exact and rapid acquirement of ocean environment information is going to become more of an indispensable source of naval operations. Ocean surface measurements using High Frequency (HF) radar, which covers about 10-220km and has spatial resolution of 0.3-12km, have being operated in our country. It remotely observe and transmit realtime sea surface currents and waves. In the near future, the HF radar systems will be established along the whole coastal area. A performance of network of HF radar will support various marine and naval activities. Operational uses of HF radar for enhancing naval operation ability are suggested.

Current general-purpose electromagnetic field simulators have been widespread applied, and is being used to electromagnetic problems such as antenna design, EMC design, measurement, and microwave device design, etc. This paper is to solve various electromagnetic problems in X-band region for utilizing multi-core-based PC available network resources more efficiently. The electromagnetic field simulator based on TCP / IP-based network topology, configuration, and its framework design is proposed and its availability is examined.
Analysis of Interference Probability according to Distance between Communication Systems in Co-channel

In this paper, we analyze the interference probability according to distance between mobile stations as a parameter which is be used for analysis for co-existing in co-channel of different systems. In order to consider interfering between each systems, we analyze two cases. First, WiBro is an interfering transmitter and WLAN is a victim receiver. Second, WLAN is an interfering transmitter and WiBro is a victim receiver. When interfering transmitter is WiBro and WLAN, interference probability according to distance between systems is analyzed by setting transmit power of 25 and 23 dBm, respectively. These simulation results can be applied into criteria data for channel co-existing issue in real field.
Development of simulation-based ship production execution system(SPEXS) for a panel block assembly shop

The management of a panel block shop in a shipyard is a complex process that entails the largest amount of work and in which many decisions are involved. Shipbuilders have considered the process as a bottleneck since every panel for every ship and offshore hull structure must be processed through the shop. In order to maximize process productivity, simulation-based ship production execution system(SPEXS) is proposed for panel block operations utilising discrete-event simulation and simulated annealing. An application of panel block assembly shop, called SPEX-Panel supports production planners by general dispatching rules and metaheuristics to make better scheduling decisions on the shop floor. In addition, the system will help increase productivity in the yard with continuous improvement.
Extraction of Sternocleidomastoid Muscle for Ultrasound Images of Cervical Vertebrae

Cervical vertebrae are a complex structure and an important part of human body connecting the head and the trunk. In this paper, we propose a method to extract sternocleidomastoid muscle from ultrasonography images of cervical vertabrae automatically. In our method, Region of Interests(ROI) is extracted first from an ultrasonography image after removing unnecessary auxiliary information such as metrics. Then we apply Ends-in search stretching algorithm in order to enhance the contrast of brightness. Average binarization is then applied to those pixels which its brightness is sufficiently large. The noise part is removed by image processing algorithms. After extracting fascia encloses sternocleidomastoid muscle, target muscle object is extracted using the location information of fascia according to the number of objects in the fascia. When only one object is to be extracted, we search downward first to extract the target muscle area and then search from right to left to extract the area and merge them. If there are two target objects, we extract first from the upper-bound of higher object to the lower-bound of lower object and then remove the fascia of the target object area. Smearing technique is used to restore possible loss of the fat area in the process. The thickness of sternocleidomastoid muscle is then calculated as the maximum thickness of those extracted objects. In this experiment with 30 real world ultrasonography images, the proposed method verified its efficacy and accuracy by health professionals.

Recently, the increase of loading amount on cargo ships due to the automation of loading process results in much complex ship operation. For this reason, NMEA-0183 based on RS-422,485 and NMEA-2000 based on CAN communication methods have been usually used as a standardized method in the marin electric interfacing equipments. In this paper, a general NMEA-0183 protocol was designed to support 7-channel NMEA-0183 serial communication data, which can receive 3-channel 16 bits ADC and 2-channel pulse using SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface). In particular, this method was designed for ship communication requires 7 important factors. Also in this study, using the minimization of the proposed method and realizing the monitoring system based on PC, the effectiveness of multichannel indicator system was proposed.

In the field of maritime transport, various researches on next generation of standards are underway to realize e-navigation. While IHO leading the way, many studies on several S-100 based standards for exchange, sharing and utilizing maritime geographical information and related data are going on. IHO S-100 as a profile of ISO 19100 series of standards. Based on their application and service they provide, there can be different S-10x standards. In order to support the safe operation, various information should be integrated. When integrating a various information, it is crucial to make sure the same data model should be treated consistently and interpreted clearly across different profiles, such as S-101, S-102, etc. in this case. In this paper, I suggested a way to covert maritime metadata of S-100 to ontology so that we can perform consistent semantic analysis and processing of data in S-100 standards, which is the basis of other S-10x standards.
Flexible USIM Authentication System for Next Generation Mobile Radio Communication Systems

This paper presents a user-friendly authentication system using a flexible USIM. In the proposed method and its system, the flexible USIM utilizes personalized data such as Mobile Directory Number(MDN) and social security number as the key to user authentication. The authentication method proposed in this paper permits limited times of use and/or limited duration of use. A simple simulation model shows that the proposed algorithm works well and shows high compatibility with existing authentication methods. In addition, an alternative or more advanced authentication system can be developed with the proposed flexible USIM card. It is seen that this simple alternative method will eventually be able to make wireless communication networks more easily accessible for subscribers, irrespective of user environments.

Sleep is very important physiology to our human, about one third of human life was sent over to sleep. This paper measures of sleep and proposes sleep quality and future direction in order to improve the sleep environment. Sleep measure was determined by using X2 histogram that is one of the scene change detection method. X2 histogram method is one of the statistical scene change detection and is used in many studies because of the histogram method performs better than the other. And find out their relationship by entering the degree of fatigue, alcohol, and hungry in order to develop quality of sleep and extracting to tossing and turning according to each situation.

This paper propose the hardware IP of real-time face detection system for mobile devices and digital cameras required for high speed, smaller size and lower power. The proposed face detection system is robust against illumination changes, face size, and various face angles as the main cause of the face detection performance. Input image is transformed to LBP(Local Binary Pattern) image to obtain face characteristics robust against illumination changes, and detected the face using face feature data that was adopted to learn and generate in the various face angles using the Adaboost algorithm. The proposed face detection system can be detected maximum 36 faces at the input image size of QVGA(
), and designed by Verilog-HDL. Also, it was verified hardware implementation by using Virtex5 XC5VLX330 FPGA board and HD CMOS image sensor(CIS) for FPGA verification.

Many people is preferred to mVoIP which offers call telephone-quality and convenient UI as well as free of charge. On the other hand, security of mVoIP is becoming an issue as it using Internet network may have danger about wiretapping. Although traditionally encryption algorithm of symmetric key for security of voice data has been used, ECC algorithm of public key type has been preferring for encryption because it is stronger in part the strength of encryption than others. However, the existing way is restricted by lots of operations in poor mobile environment. Thus this paper proposes the efficiency of resource consumption way by reducing cryptographic operations.

This paper presents the effective and detailed secure monitoring method being used based on Secure OS. For this, the detailed secure log of process, object, user`s command and database query in task server are collected by 3 kinds of log collecting module. The log collecting modules are developed by ourselves and contained as constituents of security system. Secure OS module collects process and system secure log of objective unit, Backtracker module collects user`s command session log, SQLtracker module collects database query in details. When a system auditor monitors and traces the behaviour of specified user or individual user, the mutual connection method between the secure logs can support detailed auditing and monitering effectively.

This paper describes the design overview of cluster file system
based on SAN(Storage Area Network) environment. The design issues and problems of the conventional global buffer manager are also illustrated under a large set of clustered computing hosts. We propose the efficient global buffer management method that provides the more scalability and availability. In our proposed global buffer management method, we reuse the maintained list of lock information from our cluster lock manager. The global buffer manger can easily find and determine the location of requested data block cache based on that lock information. We present the pseudo code of the global buffer manager and illustration of global cache operation in cluster environment.

The most typically utilized positioning method in the existing indoor WPS that is a positioning method utilizing distributed wireless network is the finger print. Its positioning is carried out by calculating the difference between the AP information map and WiFi AP signal collected. However, there are problems like low accuracy and high cost when the existing method and the radio map formation are applied to outdoors. In this paper, the characteristics of the existing WPS are surveyed and their problems are examined. In addition, we propose a new WPS using weak signal and a method to construct radio map in order to solve the above problems. And then, the results of experimental test will be analyzed.

Usability Evaluation for Hospital Web sites in Korea

In this study, we evaluated web usability for hospital web sites in Korea and analyzed the evaluation results of web usability. Estimators investigated twelve hospital web sites and answered a questionnaire. They also performed predefined tasks which were frequently used services in hospital web sites. We had an interview with the estimator for finding what happened in process of evaluating usability. The evaluation results showed that university hospital provided comparatively better web usability for users. But ambiguous and complicated user interface caused confusion among users. The simplifications of service processes and interfaces were necessary to improve web usability. Some hospitals did not offer primary web services and their services related to the tasks were not systematic.
Design and Performance Analysis of Score Bus Arbitration Method

Bus system consists of several masters, slaves, arbiter and decoder in a bus. Master means the processor that performs data command like CPU, DMA, DSP and slave means the memory that responds the data command like SRAM, SDRAM and register. Furthermore, as multiple masters can`t use a bus concurrently, arbiter plays an role in bus arbitration. In compliance with the selection of arbitration method, bus system performance can be changed definitely. Fixed priority and round-robin are used in general arbitration method and TDMA and Lottery bus methods are proposed currently as the improved arbitration schemes. In this study, we proposed the score arbitration method and synthesized it using Hynix 0.18um technology, after design of RTL. Also we analyze the performance compared with general arbitration methods through simulation.
Analysis of Optical Process Depending On Texturing Process of Si Wafer

To obtain the effect of texturing process in Solar cells, the Si-wafers were textured by using the IPA+DI water mixed etching solution with KOH alkaline. All samples were analyzed by the scanning electron microscopy for the surface images, and it was researched the correlation between the efficiency of optical properties and the effect of texturing. From the results of the surface images obtained by SEM, mc-Si wafer shows a isotropic surface but sc-Si wafers displays the unisotropic surface. The reflectance was improved at the sc-Si wafer textured uniformly, and the reflectance of over etched-samples increased.
A Fractional-N Phase Locked Loop with Multiple Phase Frequency Detector

In this paper, we propose the low fractional spur phase-locked loop(PLL) with multiple phase-frequency detector(PFD). The fractional spurs are suppressed by using a new PFD. The new PFD architecture with two different edge detection methods is used to suppress the fractional spur by limiting a maximum width of the output signals of PFD. The proposed PLL was simulated by HSPICE using a 0.35m CMOS parameters. The simulation results show that the proposed PLL is able to suppress fractional spurs with fast locking.
A study on specification of high power amplifier for MOPS

This paper is a study on the high power amplifier to fulfill standards of the MOPS. VDR`s frequency band is 117.975~137MHz, and CSMA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access), D8PSK(Differential Eight Phase Shift Keyed), 25KHz`s channel bandwidth use. It also stated in DO-281A MOPS output power, symbol constellation error, spurious emissions, adjacent channel power must be met. We designed and measured the performance. The 38dB of the IM3 satisfies the MOPS standard.

In this paper, a vibration energy harvesting circuit using a piezoelectric device is designed. MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control function is implemented using the electric power-voltage characteristic of a piezoelectric device to deliver the maximum power to load. The designed MPPT control circuit traces the maximum power point by periodically sampling the open circuit voltage of a full-wave rectifier circuit connected to the piezoelectric device output and delivers the maximum available power to load. This paper describes a circuit-level optimization of DFU(decoding function unit) for LDPC decoder which is used in wireless communication systems including WiMAX and WLAN. A new design of DFU based on sign-magnitude arithmetic instead of two`s complement arithmetic is proposed, resulting in 18% reduction of gate count for 96 DFUs array used in mobile WiMAX LDPC decoder. A multi-mode LDPC decoder for mobile WiMAX standard is designed using the proposed DFU. The LDPC decoder synthesized using a 0.18-
CMOS cell library with 50 MHz clock has 268,870 gates and 71,424 bits RAM, and it is verified by FPGA implementation.

As society has developed rapidly toward a highly advanced digital information age, a multimedia communication service for acquisition, transmission and storage of image data as well as voice has being commercialized. However, image data is always corrupted by various noises during image processing, so researches for removing noises have been continued until now. In this paper, in order to remove impulse noise we proposed modified adaptive switching median filter that consists of two stages: noise detection and noise removal. Proposed algorithm only processes noise pixels and these noise pixels are replaced by filter output, so proposed algorithm performs well not only removes noise but also preserves edge information. Also we compare existing methods using PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) as the standard of judgement of improvement effect and choose conventional algorithms to compare with our proposed method.
Platform Design for Multiple Sensor Array Signal Verification

As sensor technology grows up in fields such as environmental hazards detecting system, ubiquitous sensor network, intelligent robot, the sensing and detecting system for sensor is increasing. The sensor data is measured by change of chemical and physical status. Because of decrepit sensor or various sensing environment, it is problem that sensor data is inaccurate result. So the reliability of sensor data is essential. In this paper, we proposes a reliable sensor signal processing platform for various sensor. To improve reliability, we use same sensors in multiple array structure. As sensor data is corrected by spatial and temporal relation signal processing algorithm for measured sensor data, reliability of sensor data can be improved. The exclusive protocol between platform components is designed in order to verify sensor data and sensor state in various environment.
Performance Evaluation of RSSI-based Trilateration Localization Methods

Currently, the importance of location-based services and location awareness has been grown due to the advancement of wireless communication technologies. Among several localization techniques, the trilateration localization is one of major localization techniques. However, distance estimation errors caused by obstacles and indoor environment changes lead to inaccurate localization. Although there are existing trilateration localization methods, they have focused on addressing a few problems of trilateration location approaches without detailed analysis. This paper analyzes existing trilateration location methods and evaluate their performance.
Optical Microscope Image Processing for Automated Cells Counting

With growth of nano-bio industry, it is of significant importance to develop an automated system to exploit cell behaviors, including migration, mitosis, apoptosis, shape deformation of individual cells and their interactions among cells in the process of cell growth. In this paper, we proposed preprocessing techniques, a classification method which classifies clusters (overlapping multiple cells) from cells and an automated method which counts the number of cells and clusters in order to analyze 2D or 3D deformations of the cells in the real-time images from microscope in the cell culture. We conducted the 3T3 cell images taken from each thirty-minute interval. It showed the average 99.8% accuracy automatically for separating cells and clusters.
