Analysis of Maximal Transmitter Power according to Distance between Hetero Systems Co-using a Co-channel

In this paper, we consider to obtain the criteria for maximal power of interfering transmitter according to distance between WiBro and WLAN in TVWS. We analyze this criteria as a parameter for co-use when hetero systems share the same frequency channels. In order to make an analysis of relationship between distance and power of two systems, we take into consideration on two cases. First, WiBro is an interfering transmitter and WLAN is a victim receiver. Second, WLAN is an interfering transmitter and WiBro is a victim receiver. Analyzed coexistence results under various co-use scenarios may be widely applied into the technique developed to get the coexisting condition for wireless devices using many communication protocols in same frequency.
Performance Enhancement of Attitude Estimation using Adaptive Fuzzy-Kalman Filter

This paper describes the parameter adjustment method of fuzzy membership function to improve the performance of multi-sensor fusion system using adaptive fuzzy-Kalman filter and cross-validation. The adaptive fuzzy-Kanlman filter has two input parameters, variation of accelerometer measurements and residual error of Kalman filter. The filter estimates system noise R and measurement noise Q, then changes the Kalman gain. To evaluate proposed adaptive fuzzy-Kalman filter, we make the two-axis AHRS(Attitude Heading Reference System) using fusion of an accelerometer and a gyro sensor. Then we verified its performance by comparing to NAV420CA-100 to be used in various fields of airborne, marine and land applications.
Speaker Recognition using LPC cepstrum Coefficients and Neural Network

This paper proposes a speaker recognition algorithm using a perceptron neural network and LPC (Linear Predictive Coding) cepstrum coefficients. The proposed algorithm first detects the voiced sections at each frame. Then, the LPC cepstrum coefficients which have speaker characteristics are obtained by the linear predictive analysis for the detected voiced sections. To classify the obtained LPC cepstrum coefficients, a neural network is trained using the LPC cepstrum coefficients. In this experiment, the performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated using the speech recognition rates based on the LPC cepstrum coefficients and the neural network.
Feature based Pre-processing Method to compensate color mismatching for Multi-view Video

In this paper we propose a new pre-processing algorithm applied to multi-view video coding using color compensation algorithm based on image features. Multi-view images have a difference between neighboring frames according to illumination and different camera characteristics. To compensate this color difference, first we model the characteristics of cameras based on frame's feature from each camera and then correct the color difference. To extract corresponding features from each frame, we use Harris corner detection algorithm and characteristic coefficients used in the model is estimated by using Gauss-Newton algorithm. In this algorithm, we compensate RGB components of target images, separately from the reference image. The experimental results with many test images show that the proposed algorithm peformed better than the histogram based algorithm as much as 14 % of bit reduction and 0.5 dB ~ 0.8dB of PSNR enhancement.
Performance Analysis Based On Log-Likelihood Ratio in Orthogonal Code Hopping Multiplexing Systems Using Multiple Antennas

In this paper, we show that performance can be improved by using multiple antennas in the conventional orthogonal code hopping multiplexing (OCHM) scheme, which was proposed for accommodating a larger number of users with low channel activities than the number of orthogonal codewords used in code division multiple access (CDMA)-based communication systems through downlink statistical multiplexing. First, we introduce two different types of OCHM systems together with orthogonal codeword allocation strategies, and then derive their mathematical expression for log-likelihood ratio (LLR) values according to the two different schemes. Next, when a turbo encoder based on the LLR computation is used, we evaluate performance on the frame error rate (FER) for the aformentioned OCHM system. For comparison, we also show performance for the existing symbol mapping method using multiple antennas, which was used in 3GPP standards. As a result, it is shown that our OCHM system with multiple antennas based on the proposed orthogonal codeword allocation strategy leads to performance gain over the conventional system---energy required to satisfy a target FER is significantly reduced.

The Smoke Detect System is setup to extinguish early a fire on the large ship like as the cargo ship and Bulk Carrier at sea. The Addressable Type Smoke Detect System that keeps the advantages and dispenses with the disadvantages of the existing conventional type system is composed of only one electrical cords. In this paper, we make the Smoke Detect System of an addressable type and implement to control it using ATmega Micro-controller and evaluate it.
HF Data Communication Service Using SSB Modems for Maritime Applications

This paper describes on development of integrated interface and applications to support stable digital data communication service for small and midium sized crafts exploiting SSB modems and HF wireless sets. Firstly, integrated interface module between GPS (Global Positioning System) and communication devices was developed. Secondly, maritime map was implemented into a display terminal to provide location tracking service and voyage planning function. In addition, condition monitoring service of crafts and fishing report functions as well as alarm functions were developed to support secure fishery. Results of performance measure on developed application services shows that error rate was less than 3% and communication delay was shorter than 1 second when a message length was less than 1 Kbyte along with one-to-many communication type.
Implementation and Performance Evaluation of a Wireless VoIP System based on the Binary-CDMA Technology

Binary CDMA is a new standard technology for wireless communication developed by our country that makes high speed communications and good quality of services. In this paper we researched the development methods and implementation of a wireless VoIP System based on the Binary-CDMA technology that makes it freely installed in any place without phone cables and laying works. We designed the structure of the Binary-CDMA Wireless VoIP System and defined messages and data structures for call control. And then we designed and implemented call control message flow between VoIP terminals for user's communication.

Advances in smart sensors, embedded systems, low-power design, ad-hoc networks and MEMS have allowed the development of low-cost small sensor nodes with computation and wireless communication capabilities that can form distributed wireless sensor networks. Time information and time synchronization are fundamental building blocks in wireless sensor networks since many sensor network applications need time information for object tracking, consistent state updates, duplicate detection and temporal order delivery. Various time synchronization protocols have been proposed for sensor networks because of the characteristics of sensor networks which have limited computing power and resources. However, none of these protocols have been designed with time representation scheme in mind. Global time format such as UTC TOD (Universal Time Coordinated, Time Of Day) is very useful in sensor network applications. In this paper we propose network time protocol extension for global time presentation in wireless sensor networks.

31 December 2012 will be the end of terrestrial analog broadcasting. Digital broadcasting will begin. The picture quality on analog broadcasting, was not a problem. but, In digital broadcasting, is a problem. Service for streaming on the digital broadcasting MPEG video compression. And the content is added block noise. These block noise measured by people's eyes. but, people's eyes is subjective. In this paper, the on-reference methods to detect block noise. And detected by measuring the distribution of block noise, to quantify the levels of block-noise. With this study, block noise by visual inspection using an automated tool, by being objective measure of information and communication will contribute to the development of the video.

Recently, systematic research on the brain has been conducted and BCI(Brain -Computer Interface) technology applying electroencephalogram has been actively researched. Especially, serious game technology using BCI device has been the subject of interest. This paper develops a "twosome collaboration dance game," which is a serious game that takes advantage of NeuroSky's SDK(System Development Kit) and helps developing the spirit of team work and sociality based on attention and meditation, unlike existing single player games. We expect that this game will help to visualize brain functions of people and to cure ADHD children and the elderly people with MCI(Mild Cognitive Disorder). It is also expected to play a role of social catalyst to the game culture of the adolescent.
Estimation of Fuel Consumption using Vehicle Diagnosis Data

This Paper proposed the prediction method of fuel consumption from vehicle diagnosis informations through OBD-II Interface. We assumed mass air flow (MAF), shor-term fuel trim (STFT), and long-term fuel trim (LTFT) had a relationship with fuel consumption. We got the output as fuel-consumption from MAF, STFT, and LTFT as input variables. We had modelling as combustion reaction equation with OBD-II data and fuel consumption data supported by automotive company in real. In order to verify the effectiveness of proposed method, 5 km real road-test was performed. The results showed that the proposed method can estimate precisely the fuel consumption from vehicle data.
Vessel Positional Information Service using AIS and XML

AIS(Automatic Identification System) is a key of maritime information system to prevent maritime accident through communication among any adjacent ship and to establish information base by fusing information collected from ships with other information. The AIS information includes various potential information, but it is not easy to use due to insufficiency storing and management. Furthermore, we need AIS transponders to acquire the information. In this paper, we propose the vessel positional information service using AIS and XML. We decode the AIS information from the NMEA-0183 encoding data and store the AIS information to the database and provide the access service in the internet using XML.
A Study on Elicitation Method of Target Businesses for Application Development

Target businesses mean a business of specific and detailed management targets being used for realization of applications for business. Though elicitation methods of target businesses exist variously, it mostly requires much experience and consumes much time. So because its procedure is not suggested clearly, there is much difficulty when a beginner elicits target businesses. Accordingly, this study proposes a method capable of eliciting target businesses procedurally from given business statements. And hypothetical business statements were used as a case, and a method proposed from this study was applied to given business statements with the target of undergraduates, graduate students and company employees. And as a result of questioning an individual performance method and analyzing its reliability, a reliable result was obtained generally. Due to this, it could be confirmed that the method suggested in this study is not only used in the field, but also can be used easily even for a beginner.

Under the knowledge-based economy in 21C, the convergence and complexity in science and technology are being more active. Interoperability between heterogeneous domains is a very important point considered in the field of scholarly information service as well information standardization. Thus we suggest the systematic solution method to flexibly extend classification scheme in order for content management and service organizations. Especially, This paper shows that automatic method for interoperability between heterogeneous scholarly classification code structures will be effective in enhancing the information service system.
A System to Recognize Position of Moving Vehicle based on Images

The GPS technique widely used recently in car navigation system has two problems that are unavailability in urban canyons and inherent positional error rate. The one has been studied and solved in many literatures. However, the other still leads to incorrect locational information in some area, especially parallel roads. This paper proposes and implements a system to recognize lane of moving vehicle based on images obtained from in-vehicle networks or other devices. The proposed system utilizes a real-time image matching algorithm which determines the direction of moving vehicle in parallel section of road. It also employs a method for accuracy improvement. The results obtained from experimental test on real-time navigation show that the proposed systems works well and the accuracy increases.
A study on the C-shape Sharp Turn of fish robot according to biological mimic

CST(C-shape sharp turn) represented the motion whereby fish bend their tail quickly in a C-shape to achieve an emergent changing of its swimming direction on fish swimming. But there is not yet the general motion trajectory functions related to CST. In this paper, we proposed the very simple motion functions related to CST sequence recorded from a real fish by biologists. Through the computer simulations, we confirmed the usefulness of the proposed function.

In this paper, we implemented a memory controller which can accommodate data processing blocks. The memory controller is arbitrated by the internal arbiter which receives request signals from masters and sends grant and data signals to masters. The designed memory controller consists of Master Interface, Master Arbitrator, Memory Interface, Memory accelerator. It was designed using VHDL, and verified using the memory model of SAMSING Inc. For FPGA synthesis and verification, Quartus II of ATERA Inc. was used. The target device is Cyclone II. For simulation, ModelSim of Cadence Inc was used.
Improvement of Image Compression Using EZW Based in HWT

In this paper, we studied that the EZW algorithm based in HWT was proposed effective compression technique of wavelet transformed image. The proposed Haar-EZW algorithm is that image was coding by zerotree coding technique using self-similarity of HWT coefficients. If the HWT coefficient is larger than the threshold, that is coding to POS. If the HWT coefficient is smaller than the threshold, that is coding to NEG. If the HWT coefficient is larger than the root of zerotree, that is coding to ZTR. If the HWT coefficient is smaller then the threshold, and if that is not the root of zerotree, that is coding to IZ. This process is repeated until all the HWT coefficients have been encoded completely. This paper is compared Haar-EZW algorithm with Daubechies and Antonini. As the results of compare, it is shown that the PSNR of the Haar-EZW algorithm is better than Daubechies's and Antonini's.
A Study on Gesture Recognition using Edge Orientation Histogram and HMM

In this paper, the algorithm that recognizes the gesture by configuring the feature information obtained through edge orientation histogram and principal component analysis as low dimensional gesture symbol was described. Since the proposed method doesn't require a lot of computations compared to the existing geometric feature based method or appearance based methods and it can maintain high recognition rate by using the minimum information, it is very well suited for real-time system establishment. In addition, to reduce incorrect recognition or recognition errors that occur during gesture recognition, the model feature values projected in the gesture space is configured as a particular status symbol through clustering algorithm to be used as input symbol of hidden Markov models. By doing so, any input gesture will be recognized as the corresponding gesture model with highest probability.
Atrial Fibrillation Detection Algorithm through Non-Linear Analysis of Irregular RR Interval Rhythm

Several algorithms have been developed to detect AF which rely either on the form of P waves or the based on the time frequency domain analysis of RR variability. However, locating the P wave fiducial point is very difficult because of the low amplitude of the P wave and the corruption by noise. Also, the time frequency domain analysis of RR variability has disadvantage to get the details of irregular RR interval rhythm. In this study, we describe an atrial fibrillation detection algorithm through non-linear analysis of irregular RR interval rhythm based on the variability, randomness and complexity. We employ a new statistical techniques root mean squares of successive differences(RMSSD), turning points ratio(TPR) and sample entropy(SpEn). The detection algorithm was tested using the optimal threshold on two databases, namely the MIT-BIH Atrial Fibrillation Database and the Arrhythmia Database. We have achieved a high sensitivity(Se:94.5%), specificity(Sp:96.2%) and Se(89.8%), Sp(89.62%) respectively.
Resolution Enhancement for Far Objects by Using Direct Pixel Mapping Method in Curving-Effective Integral Imaging

We proposed a new method to improve the resolution of far object image in curving effective integral imaging system. Basically, the curving effective integral imaging(CEII) system can improve the resolution of the reconstructed images with an increased sampling rate of elemental images. However, in the case when an object located far from the lenslet array is picked up, the low resolution of the reconstructed images of the far object has been a primary problem because the sampling rate is very low. In order to solve this drawback, by using the direct pixel mapping(DPM) method the EIA picked up from a far object is transformed into a new EIA that virtually looks like the EIA picked up from the object originally located close to the lenslet array. From this new EIA, highly resolution-enhanced images of far object could be reconstructed in the CEII system. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, simulation results are compared with the conventional method.

Because of the development of IPTV, user is provided service of multimedia data regardless the location. But the number of users who try to get service of IPTV game illegally is also increasing. In this paper, user authentication protocol in IPTV housing using PIN code not to access easily for teenagers not to access to prohibited games. The proposed protocol combines authority data in IPTV household and creates a disposable password using PIN code to prevent teenagers from accessing illegally to the prohibited games and saves the data in certification server and set-top box to prevent forced accessing.
Implementation of an ARS Usability Testing Simulator

Whereas ARS(Automatic Response System)s are a typical communication system very widely used, it has a predominating reputation that it is of great inconvenience. This irony does not stem from technological deficiency, but rather from the usability problem. Under the current situation that there is little research and results in terms of ARS usability, we introduce an ARS simulator designed to help ARS usability tests more effectively. As a system for ARS usability researchers, it provides an environment for the mock task design and users' performance of the task. Further, it saves the mock task history and analyzes users' action patterns to some extent.
A Genetic Algorithm for Network Clustering in Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks

A Clustering problem is one of the organizational problems to improve network lifetime and scalability in underwater acoustic sensor networks. This paper propose an algorithm to obtain an optimal clustering solution to be able to minimize a total transmission power for all deployed nodes to transmit data to the sink node through its clusterhead. In general, as the number of nodes increases, the amount of calculation for finding the solution would be too much increased. To obtain the optimal solution within a reasonable computation time, we propose a genetic algorithm to obtain the optimal solution of the cluster configuration. In order to make a search more efficient, we propose some efficient neighborhood generating operations of the genetic algorithm. We evaluate those performances through some experiments in terms of the total transmission power of nodes and the execution time of the proposed algorithm. The evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient for the cluster configuration in underwater acoustic sensor networks.
Graded Noise Elimination and Cluster Boundary Extraction in Confocal Sliced Images

In tissue engineering area, researchers observe symbiotic relationship such as proliferation, interaction, division apoptosis with time between cells in process of the 3D cell culture in hydrogels. The 3D cell culture process can be taken photographs into sliced images using confocal microscope. Symbiotic mechanism and changes of cell behaviors can be observed and analyzed from the images acquired by confocal microscope. In this paper, we proposed and developed graded noise elimination method and cluster boundary extraction method to extract boundaries information from sliced confocal images acquired in process of the 3D cell culture in hydrogels. The experiment based algorithm showed excellent performance for eliminating noises that have very small millet-shaped size. It is also showed to extract exact boundaries information for even complex clusters.

The recent development in multimedia technology such as audio technology needs high quality audio system. Especially, Real Audio Technology is to be developed to play realistic sound. To meet this demands, researches on 3-Dimensional Audio which provides realistic audio effect in virtual reality and augmented reality are conducted. In this paper, how to provide realistic audio effect by using better audio technologies in augmented reality was investigated. In the study, the movements of the 3-Dimensional model on the markers were used to provide the sense of reality in virtual and real world. Namely, the sound was modified according to the movement of the model. The change in distance and angle of the model affected the sound volume and the pitch.

The development of mobile phone is growing everyday according to the change of our age. Most of all, the birth of smart phone has gotten lots of attentions. The Smart Phone has not only nalogue functions for calling and receiving but also has many multiple-service functions satisfying the contemporary digital needs. Due to the smart phone, people could access to various and plenty information simply by touching it. It was Sep. 2011 that the number of smart phone users began to be more than 15,000,000. That number stands for the turning point of digital revolution. In Korea, both of "Omnia" from Samsung and "i-phone" from Apple came into the market near the end of 2009. That time was so called the full-scale first smart-phone war, and thinking of the time, it could be named as the explosive growth of smart phones. We can predict that the smart phone will influence the real life of human beings not only the mobile phone market. In this way, the smart phone has come deeply into our life day by day. For instance, more people can be able to get the informations of their trip for their leisure and free weekends through the smart phone. Thus, our study, began with the theme of "Korean islands trip", will start in the relationship with the Application-Services, "Islands" utilizing web-pictures.
