Development of an Strategic Model for the Selection of a National IT R&D Strategic Project

In this paper, we offer a new strategic Portfolio Model for national IT R&D project selection in Korea. A risk and return (R-R) Portfolio Model was developed using an objectively quantified index on the two axes of risk and return, in order to select a strategic project and allocate resources in compliance with a national IT R&D strategy. We strategize using the R-R Portfolio Model to solve the non-strategy and subjectivity problems of the existing national R&D project selection Model. We also use the quantified evaluation index of the IT technology road map (TRM) and the technology level Survey (TLS) for the subjectivity of project selection, and try to discover the weights using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). In addition, we intend to maximize the chance for a successful national IT R&D project, by selecting a strategic Portfolio project and balancing the allocation of resources effectively and objectively.

In this paper, we propose a new multiplication algorithm for primitive polynomial with all 1 of coefficient in case that m is odd and even on finite fields
, and compose the multiplier with parallel input-output module structure using the presented multiplication algorithm. The proposed multiplier is designed

POWER PC series are common to the Central Processing Unit for Military Single Board Computer. Among them, G4 group, which contains the 74xx series supported by Freescale manufacturer is mainly used in the Military applications. We focus on the Interface between memory and controller. PCB stacking method, component routing, impedance matching and harsh environment for Military spec are the main constraints for implementation. Also, we developed memory as a module for the consideration of Military environments. The overall type of SBC should be designed by the form of 6U VME or 3U VME. Therefore this study suggests the electrically optimum Interface matching, Artwork technology based on the signal cross over and PCB stacking method on the harsh environment.
Compact Range Detection Sensor by Oscillation Frequency Deviation of an Active Antenna

In this paper, a compact doppler sensor with oscillator type active antenna operating at 2.4GHz frequency band is proposed to measure the distance to a moving object. The oscillation frequency is shifted depending on approaching of the object, and a detection circuit discriminates the frequency deviation. The active antenna has been designed and simulated. The prototype fabricated has a small circular disk type of diameter 30mm and height 4.2mm. As for antenna performance, broadside radiation pattern with beamwidth of
and oscillation frequency of 2.35GHz has been measured. Test results as a range sensor shows that signal voltage of about 240mV has been obtained for conducting plate moving 1 meter away from the sensor. And, signal voltage has been linearly increased to the ground from 5m height by free-falling the sensor.
Controller Design of Two Wheeled Inverted Pendulum Type Mobile Robot Using Neural Network

In this paper, a controller for two wheeled inverted pendulum type robot is designed to have more stable balancing capability than conventional controllers. Traditional PID control structure is chosen for the two wheeled inverted pendulum type robot, and proper gains for the controller are obtained for specified user`s weights using trial-and-error methods. Next a neural network is employed to generate PID controller gains for more stable control performance when the user`s weight is arbitrarily selected. Through simulation studies we find that the designed controller using the neural network is superior to the conventional PID controller.
Extracting Image Information of the unmanned-crane automation system Using an Integrated Vision System

This paper introduces an Integrated Vision System that enables us to detect the image of slabs and coils and get the complete three dimensional location data without any other obstacles in the field of unmanned-crane automation system. Existing vision system research tends to be easily influenced by the environment of the work place and therefore cannot give the exact location information. To overcome these weaknesses, this paper suggests laser scanners should be combined with a CCD camera named Integrated Vision System. The suggested system is expected to help improve the unmanned-crane automation system.
WLAN-based Indoor Positioning Algorithm Using The Environment Information Surround Access Points

Recently, There has been increasing concern about WLAN-based indoor positioning system. Most of the existing WLAN-based positioning systems use a fingerprinting method as a main approach. In the fingerprinting approach, the accuracy of the location of a mobile objects is proportional to the number of reference points. However, depending on the increasing number of reference points in the training phase, it requires more time and effort to create fingerprint database. To solve these problems, we propose the new indoor positioning algorithm that calculate the distance between a mobile objects and an AP using the information of surrounding environment WLAN based APs and applied the particle filter to the proposed algorithm in order to improve the accuracy of the estimated location in this paper. To implement this algorithm, at first environmental information database such as wall, iron door, glass door, partition etc. existing in the periphery of the AP should be established. The positioning use attenuation model and path loss model. Our experimental results with proposed algorithm are verified that the positioning accuracy was low but solved the problems with fingerprinting, compared with other positioning algorithms.
Performance Enhancement of Slot-Count Selection Algorithm with Weight Differentiation in Gen-2 RFID Systems

In EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 RFID system, a slot-count selection algorithm has been proposed to determine the slot-count size depending on the status of reply slot. In the slot-count selection algorithm of Gen-2, the slot-count value is increased or decreased by the weight C, which is identical and independent of the slot status. It has an advantage that the algorithm is simple, but it is difficult to maintain an optimal slot-count size. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an adaptive slot-count selection algorithm, which applies the parameter C differently based on the result of tag replies. Through simulations, it is demonstrated that the collision rate for the proposed scheme is about 42% and 65% lower than the schemes proposed by Wang and Gen-2. Therefore, the adaptive slot-count selection algorithm achieves faster tag identification time compared with the existing algorithms due to the low collision rate.
A Virtual Machine Allocation Scheme based on CPU Utilization in Cloud Computing

The two most popular virtual machine allocation schemes, both match making and round robin, do consider hardware specifications such as CPU, RAM, and HDD, but not CPU usage, which results in balanced resource distribution, but not in balanced resource usage. Thus, in this paper a new virtual machine allocation scheme considering current CPU usage rate is proposed while retaining even distribution of node resources. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, a cloud computing platform composed of three cloud nodes and one front end is implemented. The proposed allocation scheme was compared with both match making and round robin schemes. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme performs better in even distribution of overall CPU usage, which results in efficient load balancing.
Improvement of Reduction method for Ringing Artifacts in color moving-pictures using K-means algorithm

In this paper, we proposed the improved Advanced Detail Enhancement algorithm that improve the blurring by the lossy compression with CODEC and reduce the ringing artifacts in restoration. The conventional algorithm needs much amount of the process by the use of RGB color space. To improve this, we only used the luminance value in YCbCr color space. We verified that the performance of the improved algorithm with Y color value, the luminance value, is equal to the conventional algorithm with RGB color value and that the operation time of the improved is shorter about 24% than the conventional through the measurement of the operation time with Kodak standard images.
Implementation of Stereo Matching Algorithm using GPU

In this paper, we propose an adaptive variable-sized matching window method using the characteristic points of the image and a method to increase the reliability of the cross-consistency check to raise the correctness of the final disparity image. The proposed adaptive variable-sized window method segments the image with the color information, finds the characteristic points inside the window. Also the proposed algorithm implement using a graphic processing unit(GPU). The GPU, we used in this paper is GeForce GTX296 (NVIDIA) and we can use programming based on CUDA. The calculation speed realizes a speed approximately 128 times faster than that of a CPU.

Picture Quality Improvement Systems(PQIS) have been developed for user`s needs with the development of display technology. Most PQIS change the all input data, so there were some color distortion. In order to compensate such problems, the PQIS using Skin Protection Algorithm(SPA) have been proposed. But the PQIS using SPA is performed simplex color emphasis, as a result occurred color saturation and decoloration. In this paper, we proposed the modified PQIS using SPA on CIE 1976 u`v` chromaticity coordinate. The modified method operated chromaticity extension and reduction at the same time about brightness value to prevent the saturation and decoloration. We evaluated by comparing the conventional method with the proposed method of RGB Gamut variation rate using 42 test image.

The various Smartphone platforms that are used currently make difficult to build efficient applications("apps") for Smartphone. Introduction of middleware in the Smartphone environment is being studied to solve this problem. By enhancing interoperability between server systems and Smartphone platforms as introducing this middleware supports efficiently for Smartphone apps to be developed and managed. Thus, the development of this middleware for Smartphone has become essential for the purpose of responding actively to the rapidly expanding Smartphone market. In this research, we designed and implemented Smartphone middleware which optimizes the cost and time for developing new application service and maintaining it. In order to test this implemented middleware`s performance and its capabilities, we also developed university Smartphone apps and activated campus twitter.
Design of Collaborative Response Framework Based on the Security Information Sharing in the Inter-domain Environments

Recently, cyber attacks against public communications networks are getting more complicated and varied. Moreover, in some cases, one country could make systematic attacks at a national level against another country to steal its confidential information and intellectual property. Therefore, the issue of cyber attacks is now regarded as a new major threat to national security. The conventional way of operating individual information security systems such as IDS and IPS may not be sufficient to cope with those attacks committed by highly-motivated attackers with significant resources. In this paper, we discuss the technologies and standard trends about actual cyber threat and response methods, design the collaborative response framework based on the security information sharing in the inter-domain environments. The computation method of network threat level based on the collaborative response framework is proposed. The network threats are be quickly detected and real-time response can be executed using the proposed computation method.
Study on Construction of Quinternary Logic Circuits Using Perfect Shuffle

In this paper, we present a method on the construction of quinternary logic circuits using Perfect shuffle. First, we discussed the input-output interconnection of quinternary logic function using Perfect Shuffle techniques and Kronecker product, and designed the basic cells of performing the transform matrix and the reverse transform matrix of quinternary Reed-Muller expansions(QRME) using addition circuit and multiplication circuit of GF(5). Using these basic cells and the input-output interconnection technique based on Perfect Shuffle and Kronecker product, we implemented the quinternary logic circuit based on QRME. The proposed design method of QRME is simple and very efficient to reduce addition circuits and multiplication circuits as compared with other methods for same logic function because of using matrix transform based on modular structures. The proposed design method of quinternary logic circuits is simple and regular for wire routing and possess the properties of concurrency and modularity of array.
Sensitivity Analysis of Power System Including Series FACTS Device Based on RCF Method

In this paper, the RCF method is used in sensitivity analysis problems of the discrete power systems including both series FACTS equipments such as TCSC in transmission lines and generator controllers such as Exciter and PSS in generator terminal. To apply the RCF method in small signal stability problems of discrete power systems, state transition equations of controllers and TCSC are derived and the sensitivity calculation algorithm using state transition equations in discrete time domain is devised. The results of eigenvalue analysis showed that the variations of eigenvalues after periodic switching operations of TCSC can be calculated exactly by the RCF method and the change of firing angles in TCSC have important effect to determine the stability of power systems.
On-Chip Design-for-Testability Circuit for RF System-On-Chip Applications

This paper presents on-chip Design-for-Testability (DFT) circuit for radio frequency System-on-Chip (SoC) applications. The proposed circuit measures functional specifications of RF integrated circuits such as input impedance, gain, noise figure, input voltage standing wave ratio (VSWRin) and output signal-to-noise ratio (SNRout) without any expensive external equipment. The RF DFT scheme is based on developed theoretical expressions that produce the actual RF device specifications by output DC voltages from the DFT chip. The proposed DFT showed deviation of less than 2% as compared to expensive external equipment measurement. It is expected that this circuit can save marginally failing chips in the production testing as well as in the RF system; hence, saving tremendous amount of revenue for unnecessary device replacements.
Design of Data Communication System using LVTTL

By the development of the information superhighway, the current data communication system can be exchanged data quickly and precisely between subscribers. In this paper, LVTTL(Low Voltage Transistor Transistor Logic), Using the fundamental one logic at several kinds of used in communication systems, the LVTTL transmission characteristics were measured by according to the change data transfer rate and the transmission line length. Because the transmission line length required on the current system is 30cm, We analysed LVTTL data transfer characteristics according to the transmission line length required on the current system. The amplitude level of LVTTL at 10Mbps is 3V and 50Mbps is 2.2V and 100Mbps is 2V and 125Mbps is 1.5V and 150Mbps is 1.4V. The length of transmission line 30cm was stable state up to 100Mbps data transfer rate.

The aim of this study was to develop a Pulsed Magnetic Fields(PMFs) system which can produce effects locally and simulate muscular tissues equally. To evaluate the PMFs system we caused DOMS(Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) to subjects in biceps of the arm. Then, we stimulated acupoint HT2 using PMFs(20 minutes) and TEAS(20 minutes) for 2 days. Improvement of Direct-Modulation Performances of Semiconductor Lasers by using Dual-Electrode Structure

We propose a novel method to reduce laser chirp and improve modulation performance in semiconductor laser by using dual-electrode structure. Dual-electrode structure is realized by segmenting a electrode on top of gain medium, as was the case of edge emitting laser diode, into electrically isolated two electrodes. By using the proposed structure, we have experimentally achieved a reduction of laser spectral width of 0.23 nm and an improvement of 2.5-dB receiver sensitivity at an 80-km fiber transmission for 10-Gbps NRZ (non-return-to zero) data stream.
JPE : Java Push Engine Supporting Asynchronous Communication Based on AJAX

The Web is widely used to share information, utilizing the client-server model. In the client-server model, since the server only responds according to explicit requests from the client, the model seems hard to support sharing of massive information rapidly changing in today`s Internet. The technology known as Server Push enables the server to actively provide information to clients without explicit requests from the clients using Web pages. Although various studies have been done to realize the Server Push technologies, there are many problems in the development of push application without push engines which support infrastructures for the effective development of push application. In this paper, we develop JPE(Java Push Engine) which presents the effective support for push services over the Internet. JPE is composed of two main components: the JPE Core supporting Epoll and the JPE Library supporting asynchronous communication. In addition, JPE defines various push functions and provides programming interfaces supporting the functions. Push applications developed using JPE effectively manages client connections with Epoll mechanism, providing push services through AJAX-based asynchronous communication.
A Study on the Correlation between MSC and major curriculum for Efficient Engineering Education

The purpose of this paper is to improve the curriculum efficiently and to raise the level of students`s satisfaction by studying the correlation between MSC and major courses. For this, we compared the student`s grades for those courses. Furthermore the level of satisfaction of the MSC subjects was surveyed. We found that one of dissatisfactions was due to the student`s low recognition about the Accredited Program. So efforts to raise the student`s satisfaction abouts the program should be done continuously and an in-depth study about MSC and major courses is necessary instead of just offering the required subjects.
Development of a WebDAV-based Smartphone Collaborative Application

To support asynchronous collaboration among remote users, collaborative applications provide collaboration services and environment through virtual workspaces. In general, collaborative applications support collaboration based on desktop-based personal computers, using the features such as resource sharing or asynchronous communication among users. Unfortunately, since those applications mainly run on personal computers, they do not easily support collaborative works in various places. In this paper, we describe the development of smartphone collaborative application which provides effective collaboration facilities like resource sharing through various types of workspaces or group communication, communicating with a WebDAV-based collaboration server. The developed application provides users with high accessibility through multi-touch/touch-slide based user-interfaces in mobile environment. To support effective communication with a collaboration server, we also present a WebDAV-based collaboration library using a collaboration protocol designed to analyze easily the responses from the collaboration server.
Expert Recommendation System based on XMDR using Social Network

Recently, diverse approaches retrieval services based on social network are suggested. Although existing recommendation systems can retrieve experts of specific fields, profiles and evaluations about experts that users want to be recommended are in a system. The proposed expert recommendation system can automatize collection of evaluation to evaluate experts and experts` profiles in separate systems by using the Knowledge Base and XMDR. We also attempt to construct system which can recommend a number of experts by dynamically constructing Social Network by using diverse resources distributed 로컬ly and composed of heterogeneous data sources. To resolve these problems efficiently, there is a need to provide constructed resources between heterogeneous systems with transparency and independence and provide users with a singular interface. Therefore, the proposed system in this paper uses Knowledge Base and XMDR for extracting distributed experts` profiles and designs expert recommendation system connecting Knowledge Base with Social Network.
Multiple Dimension User Motion Detection System base on Wireless Sensors

Due to recently advanced electrical devices, human can access computer network regardless of working location or time restriction. However, currently widely used mouse, joystick, and trackball input system are not easy to carry and they bound user hands exclusively within working space. Those make user inconvenient in Ubiquitous environments.. In this paper, we propose multiple dimension human motion detection system based on wireless sensor networks. It is a portable input device and provides easy installation process and unbinds user hands during input processing stages. Our implemented system is comprised of three components. One is input unit that senses user motions and transmits collected data to receiver. Second is receiver that conveys the received data to application, which runs on server computer. Third is application that performs command operations according to received data. Experiments shows that proposed system accurately detect the characteristics of user arm motions and fully support corresponding input requests.
The Application Service Model and Platform for Web Services Based on USN Application Developments

The advancement of computer network technology, coupled with the growing prevalence of Internet, is promoting ubiquitous computing, also called next-generation computing paradigm, as an important study field that many researches are joining and undergoing. In this paper, as the support technology for creating ubiquitous computer environment, we design the SSDLbased on XMLwhich is used for sending and receiving data by USN application service in a standardized form. A ref model, with no regard to different platforms or implementation languages, is proposed in our research on the basis of web service so that most of unspecified users could apply the standardized protocol designed for sensor data to real sensor data in various application environments based on the designed language. Therefore, through this research we can take advantage of acquisition of USN-based technology and technology draft related to application service.
Implementation for Baby Care System Using ARM11

Most recent birth rate at home raising children, only one has come out well. Accordingly, children born to parents is to have a strong interest, and healthcare (Healthcare) sector, while emerging as a new growth industry (Baby Care) Baby Care also increased the interest. Baby Care products until now the food, toiletries and clothing, etc. Although it advances the development of ubiquitous computing environment with the development of the healthcare industry, Baby Care Electronics products have been developed. At this time SIDS infants to prevent this phenomenon often takes place in order to measure the status of children and away from parents to children, also can check the status of children was used to implement the Platform. In this paper, using the radio frequency real-time observation of data storage without the parents were determined only by the speed of the ARM11-based systems using the S3C6410 CPU and wireless WI-FI (IEEE8.2.11) technology to prevent sudden infant death using Platform for the implementation study was conducted.
A study on the location recognition method of containers in container terminal utilizing wireless sensor network

There are some trials to adopt the RFID/USN technologies at container terminals for effective terminal operations. In this paper, we propose a realtime location recognition method for stacked containers under the assumption that each container has a wireless sensor node to measure the RSSI values from neighbor nodes. We develope an RSSI based location algorithm with performance evaluations by RSSI measurement and application program implementation.

Recently, a lots of research proposals and results on mobile sensor network are actively announced. The most of such works are based on general-purposed network simulators such as ns-2, mathlab, etc. But, It is not easy to model and simulate the detail activities of each sensor node, data deliveries between them, and its cost such as power consumption and resource utilization, so that the simulation results of those simulators show the limited aspects of overall networks features or performance metrics. In this paper proposed, power consumption of each node, performance, mobility, and location information in operation-level of the network that can simulate a wireless sensor network simulator platform. Because the network routing algorithm analysis of being developed in an existing becomes available, the proposed simulator can usability in the new network routing algorithm development.
Variations of catch of Anchovy and Saury due to oceanic climate change in the Korean seas

The variations of catch of anchovy and saury due to oceanic climate change in the Korean Seas were studied. This study area was

And data (seawater temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen) is used from NFRDI (National Fisheries Research and Development Institute) and SST (Sea Surface temperature) obtained to satellite images (NOAA/AVHRR) during 2000 to 2009. The spatial characteristics are analyzed by GIS (Geographic Information System). The results showed that the average of seawater temperature in the depth of 20m increased
in the South Sea and
in the East Sea, respectively. The maximal catch of anchovy was highest in summer (July~September) and winter (December~March), respectively, in compared with spring (April~June). Catch of anchovy has increased since 2000. The maximal catch of saury was highest in spring (May~June), in compared with spring (August~September). The increment of seawater temperature contributed to increase the catch of anchovy, but catch of saury was decrease in the same times.
Classification of Ovarian Cancer Microarray Data based on Intelligent Systems with Marker gene

Microarray classification typically possesses two striking attributes: (1) classifier design and error estimation are based on remarkably small samples and (2) cross-validation error estimation is employed in the majority of the papers. A Microarray data of ovarian cancer consists of the expressions of thens of thousands of genes, and there is no systematic procedure to analyze this information instantaneously. In this paper, gene markers are selected by ranking genes according to statistics, popular classification rules - linear discriminant analysis, k-nearest-neighbor and decision trees - has been performed comparing classification accuracy of data selecting gene markers and not selecting gene markers. The Result that apply linear classification analysis at Microarray data set including marker gene that are selected using ANOVA method represent the highest classification accuracy of 97.78% and the lowest prediction error estimate.

According to the needs for equipment performance, reliability, and performance for impending time to guarantee its viability, various redundancy techniques have been used in many military systems. Typically, one of redundancy schemes to increase the viability of the system is to configure a network between two processes. However, when some failure or loss in a physical network occur, redundancy schemes may not operate well. In this paper, we present a protocol scheme of VMEbus master and slave of a shared memory region, interrupts, and a dedicated task communication. Specifically, we confirm the validity of the presented scheme through the direct implementation of the protocol and some experimental results.
