Navigation Control of Mobile Robot based on VFF to Avoid Local-Minimum in a Corridor Environment

This paper deals with the method of using the amended virtual force field technique to avoidance the front environment(wall, obstacles etc.) in navigating by using the environmental informations recognized by a ultrasonic-ring and pan/tilt CCD camera equipped on a mobile robot. we will give an explanation for the robot system architecture designed and implemented in this study and a short review of existing techniques, since there exist several recent thorough books and review paper on this paper. It is proposed the rusult from the experimental run based on a virtual force field(VFF) method to support the validity of the aforementioned architecture of mobile service robot for local navigation and obstacle avoidance for autonomous mobile robots. We will conclude by discussing some possible future extensions of the project. The results show that the proposed algorithm is apt to identify obstacles in an indoor environments to guide the robot to the goal location safely.
3-D Optimal Disposition of Direction Finders

In this paper, a simulation-based method is presented to dispose direction finders in three dimensional space for locating targets using the directional data. A direction finder(DF) is a military weapon that is used to find locations of targets that emit radio frequencies by operating two or more DFs simultaneously. If one or more DFs are operated in the air, the accuracy of location estimation can be enhanced by disposing them in a better configuration. By extending the line method, which is a well-known algorithm for 2-D location estimation, into 3-D space, the problem of 3-D location estimation is defined as an nonlinear programming form and solved analytically. Then the optimal disposition of DFs is considered with the presented method in which methods of simulation and search technique are combined. With the suggested algorithm for 3-D disposition of DFs, regions in which targets exist can be effectively covered so that the operation effect of DF be increased.
The Detectability of Submarine's Turbulent Wake on the sea surface using Ship-Wake Theory

If we assume submarine's length, width, velocity are 65m, 6.5m, 6kts respectively, and the minimum diffusion of turbulent wake ;
, the width of wake behind the submarine is about 20m at 1.2km, 30m at 15km when there is no breaking waves on the sea surface. However, in the case of breaking waves, it is very limited to identify submarine's wake on the sea surface because wind generated turbulent wake has higher turbulent kinetic energy than that of submarine's wake. As a result, there is a high possibility to detect submarine's wake on the sea surface in the shallow water such as the Yellow-Sea using a proper detection method such as SAR. This means that in anti-submarine operations, non-acoustic sea surface serveillance applied turbulent wake will be very effective way to detect a submarine in near future. To do this we have to develop exact theory of submarine's turbulent wake above all.
Remote control of individual modules based on mobile phone and web

This paper suggests one model, which can be monitor and control target system at anytime and anywhere by a WAP and ME based personal cellular phone(Feature phone) and internet connection. The suggesting model tried to overcome constraints of distance and mobility of conventional methods, TCP/IP based remote data monitoring system, which combine PDA and WLAN technologies. For the experiments of suggesting model, the target systems are constructed with individual modules, which need AC or DC power control. The development software for the control and monitor of local system use NI Labview for the easy-programming and confidence. Also, web server use APM setup for the general user. The mobile connection environments of personal cellular phone are programmed by use WML and mHTML language for the general access. Through the experiments, we have showed that suggesting model can overcome constraints of distance and mobility of conventional system.
Wideband Impedance Transformer Using a Coaxial Cable

A coaxial-cable impedance transformer used in wideband frequency range is generally restricted to the fixed impedance transformation ratio as n2:1 or 1:n2(n: the number of coaxial cables). Design of the 1.8GHz Strip-line Isolator with high attenuations at harmonic band

In this paper, the detailed design procedure of the Y-junction stripline isolator self-contained the filter circuit in the center conductor in order to maximize attenuations below value of 30 dB at 3rd order harmonics is presented. The HFSS is used to simulate 1.8GHz band isolator and the results are compared with the measurement data. These results confirms that the designed stripline isolator is effective in achieving high attenuation above -30 dB at 3rd order harmonics. And it is obtained that the harmonic band of isolator using the ferrite of 0.16T is moved far from operating frequency more 1.2 GHz than one using the ferrite of 0.12T.
Digital Satellite Radio Broadcast Channel Information Search Process Method

In this paper, we present a very useful method for updating digital satellite radio broadcast channel information. When a devices equipped with function to receive Digital Satellite Radio such as Home Theater, MP3 player, mobile phones, car audio system and various other types of Digital Devices, receives new Digital satellite radio (will be mentioned as XM radio onwards) broadcast channel information, only the current received XM radio broadcast channel and N number of pre/post nearby broadcast channels are scanned randomly in zigzag manner. Then the previous XM radio broadcast channel information updated with the newly received XM radio broadcast channel information. Since this method can prevent batch update for all XM radio channel, including some channels which less likely did not select by user, update process for real time frequently changed XM radio broadcast channel information can be performed efficiently with minimal or without delay.

The existing underwater acoustic communications modem is developing based on commercial products, so it is possible on functionality and performance of underwater acoustic communications modem implementation. But the production of development system is required to single platform system implementation at the system's size and cost. So this paper designs and implements the signal processing module as an important role to single hardware platform production of underwater acoustic communication modem by using TigerSHARC DSP processor.
Reduction of Environmental Background Noise using Speech and Noise Recognition

This paper first proposes the speech recognition algorithm by detection of the speech and noise sections at each frame using a neural network training by back-propagation algorithm, then proposes the spectral subtraction method which removes the noises at each frame according to detection of the speech and noise sections. In this experiment, the performance of the proposed recognition system was evaluated based on the recognition rate using various speeches that are degraded by white noise and car noise. Moreover, experimental results of the noise reduction by the spectral subtraction method demonstrate using the speech and noise sections detecting by the speech recognition algorithm at each frame. Based on measuring signal-to-noise ratio, experiments confirm that the proposed algorithm is effective for the speech by corrupted the noise using signal-to-noise ratio.
Blind frequency offset estimation method in OFDM systems

In this paper, an efficient blind carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation method in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is proposed. In the proposed method, we obtain two time different received OFDM symbols by using both the cyclic prefix and oversampling technique, and a cost function is defined by using the two OFDM symbols. We show that the cost function can be approximately expressed as a cosine function. Using a property of the cosine function, a formular for estimating the CFO is derived. The estimator of the CFO requires three independent cost function values calculated at three different points of frequency offset. The proposed method is very efficient in computational complexity since no searching operation for the minimum cost value is required. The proposed method reduces 97% of the amount of FFT computation, compared with the ML method. Unlike the conventional methods such as the ML method and the MUSIC] method, the accuracy of the proposed method is independent of the searching resolution since the closed form solution exists. The computer simulation shows that the performance of the proposed method is superior to those of the MUSIC and the ML method.
The Realization of RFID Tag Data Communication System Using CC1020

RFID system in manufacturing industry is used to collect, categorize, and process the data of products. To install RFID system for a large factory, a large amount of wired data communication network is necessary for RS232 communication. If the installed location of RFID system in the factory is changed or extended, a reinstallment is required for the already installed wired data network. A large amount of time/financial reinvestment is necessary for such reinstallation. By using wireless data communication network, however, the initial installation and reinstallation are very simple. In this paper, we implemented a wireless communication system and RFID system. We used the CC1020 chip for wireless communication system and EM4095 chip for RFID system. CC1020 chip enables highly-reliable data communication, and by setting a simple status register, it can switch between transmitting/receiving status and it can choose the desired frequency of either 400 MHz or 900 MHz. Also, Communication range is 50 m, if external antenna is used. EM4095 is a chip for RFID reader system with the carrier frequency of 125 KHz. This chip can implement the reader system by connecting a small number of components. And EM4100 was used for RFID system. EM4100 is read-only type. Atmega128 is used to control a wireless communication system and RFID system. We confirm that the system can communicate without error up to 50 m from sender. In the paper, the circuit diagram and operation program for CC1020 and RFID system are presented. The system used in the experiment is shown in pictures, and the data movement pattern of CC1020 is shown in the diagram, and the performance of each transmission method is presented.
Application and conversion system of MPEG2-TS to RTP

IPTV contents are based on MPEG2-TS(Moving Picture Expert Group-2 Transport Stream). The Created content is delivered to each home's Set-Top box through the Internet service network, which will be visible on television through the decoding process. The using and spending of content expanding were quite limited in the other existing lines' devices. For this end, provided methods are to convert MPEG2-TS to other format and then transmit it. These methods are causing not only an overload to the system but also its increasing the hardware resource requirements. In this paper, the MPEG2-TS of IPTV's content using RTP(Real time Transport Protocol) provided by the applicable variety of devices and environmental system, was designed and implemented. Through this paper, the existing MPEG2-TS is providing other devices for distribution and consumption that can give better content to the consumers which means that the QoS(Quality of Service) was enhanced. And, the increased consumption and use of content will help the IPTV business to get more development and activation.
Distribution Business Model and Protecting Management System of Contents for IPTV

In this paper, we proposed the digital contents distribution business model for the operation of integration between heterogeneous systems in order to use IPTV. Also, we designed and implemented the protection management system through this distribution business model. This proposed model maintains interoperability between the heterogeneous systems, creates rights protection document based on REL, and provides the new version of packaged digital contents to itself by packaging the digital contents. Overall, it ultimately offers an interoperable environment. Moreover, since we pre-defines the relations among REL data based on MPEG-21 standard, which creates the newly packaged digital contents, it is easy to edit data. We can expect to save expenses of digital contents distribution and rights protection technology. Additionally, we can further improve security by encapsulating the security technology of CAS and DRM system.
Automatic Detecting of Joint of Human Body and Mapping of Human Body using Humanoid Modeling

In this paper, we propose the method that automatically extracts the silhouette and the joints of consecutive input image, and track joints to trace object for interaction between human and computer. Also the proposed method presents the action of human being to map human body using joints. To implement the algorithm, we model human body using 14 joints to refer to body size. The proposed method converts RGB color image acquired through a single camera to hue, saturation, value images and extracts body's silhouette using the difference between the background and input. Then we automatically extracts joints using the corner points of the extracted silhouette and the data of body's model. The motion of object is tracted by applying block-matching method to areas around joints among all image and the human's motion is mapped using positions of joints. The proposed method is applied to the test videos and the result shows that the proposed method automatically extracts joints and effectively maps human body by the detected joints. Also the human's action is aptly expressed to reflect locations of the joints
SPN Block cipher SSB having same structure in encryption and decryption

Feistel and SPN are the two main structures in a block cipher. Feistel is a symmetric structure which has the same structure in encryption and decryption, but SPN is not a symmetric structure. In this paper, we propose a SPN block cipher so called SSB which has a symmetric structure in encryption and decryption. The proposed SSB is composed of the even numbers of N rounds. Each round consists of a round key addition layer, a subsitution layer, a byte exchange layer and a diffusion layer. The subsitution layer of the odd round is inverse function of one of the even round. And the diffusion layer is a MDS involution matrix. The differential and linear attack probability of SSB is
which is same with AES. The proposed symmetric SPN block cipher SSB is believed to construct a safe and efficient cipher in Smart Card and RFID environments which is in limited hardware and software resources.
Implementation of XML-based Open API for Smartphone Middleware

Recently, use of Smartphones is growing at an extremely rapid pace. Many researchers have recognized the importance of developing Smartphones applications under these circumstances, and they have been conducted many studies to develop apps efficiently. The Smartphones middleware has become a focus of recent research to develop efficient Smartphones apps on a server-client environment in particular. In this study, for enhancing portability, expandability and convenience in the development of apps on the various platforms of Smartphones, We have proposed XML based Open API optimized in the Smartphones middleware. A Recommendation Technique using Weight of User Information

A collaborative filtering(CF) is the most widely used technique in recommender system. However, CF has sparsity and scalability problems. These problems reduce the accuracy of recommendation and extensive studies have been made to solve these problems, In this paper, we proposed a method that uses a weight so as to solve these problems. After creating a user-item matrix, the proposed method analyzes information about users who prefer the item only by using data with a rating over 4 for enhancing the accuracy in the recommendation. The proposed method uses information about the genre of the item as well as analyzed user information as a weight during the calculation of similarity, and it calculates prediction by using only data for which the similarity is over a threshold and uses the data as the rating value of unrated data. It is possible simultaneously to reduce sparsity and to improve accuracy by calculating prediction through an analysis of the characteristics of an item. Also, it is possible to conduct a quick classification based on the analyzed information once a new item and a user are registered. The experiment result indicated that the proposed method has been more enhanced the accuracy, compared to item based, genre based methods.
Improved Sensorless Control of Induction motor by Rotor Resistance Compensation

Induction motors are relatively cheap and rugged machines. For the vector control of induction motors, a position or speed sensor is needed. But a speed sensor increases motor cost and reduces reliability in harsh environment. Recently, many studies have been performed for sensorless speed control. This paper investigates an improved flux observer with the parameter error compensation for a sensorless induction motor. The proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and experiment.
Design of Differential Voltage-to-Frequency Converter Using Current Conveyor Circuit

This paper describes the differential voltage-to-frequency converter which is realized current conveyor circuits. The output frequency of the differential voltage-to-frequency converter is proportional to the difference of two input voltages. The designed circuit is simulated by HSPICE. The range of input voltage difference is from several volts to several milli-volts. From the simulation results the error is less than from -1.9% to +1.8% compared to the calculated values.
Study on Noise Performance Enhancement of Tunable Low Noise Amplifier Using CMOS Active Inductor

In this paper, a novel circuit topology of a low-noise amplifier tunable at 1.8GHz band for PCS and 2.4GHz band for WLAN using a CMOS active inductor is proposed. This circuit topology to reduce higher noise figure of the low noise amplifier with the CMOS active load is analyzed. Furthermore, the noise canceling technique is adopted to reduce more the noise figure. The noise figure of the proposed circuit topology is analyzed and simulated in
CMOS process technology. Thus, the simulation results exhibit that the noise performance enhancement of the tunable low noise amplifier is about 3.4dB, which is mainly due to the proposed new circuit topology.
Design of a Wireless Intraocular Pressure Sensor Based on MEMS Technology

Interaocular pressure (IOP) sensor and external coil to detect the resonance frequency of the IOP sensor are designed and implemented using MEMS technology. The IOP sensor is designed using 3-D electromagnetic (EM) simulation. The resonance frequency of IOP sensor needs to be lower than that of the external coil. Additionally, the resonance frequency of the IOP sensor needs to be located near the resonance frequency of the coil to get the sufficient amplitude of phase variation. The frequency where the phase peak appears must be constant according to the distance between the IOP sensor and the external coil. From the measurement results, we demonstrated that the designed IOP sensor has the same resonance frequency with various distances between the IOP sensor and the coil.
Design of Low-Area and Low-Power 1-kbit EEPROM

In this paper, a logic process based 1-kbit EEPROM IP for RFID tag chips of 900MHz is designed. The cell array of the designed 1-kbit EEPROM IP is arranged in a form of four blocks of 16 rows x 16 columns, that is in a two-dimensional arrangement of one-word EEPROM phantom cells. We can reduce the IP size by making four memory blocks share CG (control gate) and TG (tunnel gate) driver circuits. We propose a TG switch circuit to supply respective TG bias voltages according to operational modes and to keep voltages between devices within 5.5V in terms of reliability in order to share the TG driver circuit. Also, we can reduce the power consumption in the read mode by using a partial activation method to activate just one of four memory blocks. Furthermore, we can reduce the access time by making BL (bit line) switching times faster in the read mode from reduced number of cells connected to each column. We design and compare two 1-kbit EEPROM IPs, two blocks of 32 rows
16 columns and four blocks of 16 rows
16 columns, which use Tower's
CMOS process. The four-block IP is smaller by 11.9% in the layout size and by 51% in the power consumption in the read mode than the two-block counterpart.
A performance analysis of layered LDPC decoder for mobile WiMAX system

This paper describes an analysis of the decoding performance and decoding convergence speed of layered LDPC(low-density parity-check) decoder for mobile WiMAX system, and the optimal design conditions for hardware implementation are searched. A fixed-point model of LDPC decoder, which is based on the min-sum algorithm and layered decoding scheme, is implemented and simulated using Matlab model. Through fixed-point simulations for the block lengths of 576, 1440, 2304 bits and the code rates of 1/2, 2/3A, 2/3B, 3/4A, 3/4B, 5/6 specified in the IEEE 802.16e standard, the effect of internal bit-width, block length and code rate on the decoding performance are analyzed. Simulation results show that fixed-point bit-width larger than 8 bits with integer part of 5 bits should be used for acceptable decoding performance.

A Development of the Next-generation Interface System Based on the Finger Gesture Recognizing in Use of Image Process Techniques

This study aims to design and implement the finger gesture recognizing system that automatically recognizes finger gestures input through a camera and controls the computer. Common CCD cameras were redesigned as infrared light cameras to acquire the images. The recorded images go through the pre-process to find the hand features, the finger gestures are read accordingly, and an event takes place for the follow-up mouse controlling and presentation, and finally the way to control computers is suggested. The finger gesture recognizing system presented in this study has been verified as the next-generation interface to replace the mouse and keyboard for the future information-based units.
Attentional mechanisms for video retargeting and 3D compressive processing

In this paper, we presented an attention measurement method in 2D and 3D image/video to be applied for image and video retargeting and compressive processing. 2D attention is derived from the three main components, intensity, color, and orientation, while depth information is added for 3D attention. A rarity-based attention method is presented to obtain more interested region or objects. Displaced depth information is matched to attention probability in distorted stereo images and finally a stereo distortion predictor is designed by integrating low-level HVS responses. As results, more efficient attention scheme is developed from the conventional methods and performance is proved by applying for video retargeting.

Coronary angiography technology is usually used for examining or treating coronary artery stenosis. Especially, when a cardiologist inserts catheter into the heart blood vessel, the catheter path detection system is needed because the cardiologist has difficulty in not damaging vessel. Recently, to reduce this difficulty, many searchers have been working for the various image processing technologies, such as vessel edge detection, optimal threshold method, etc. However the results of these searches are showing different performances depend on the contrast and quality of images. Therefore, this study for the coronary angiography suggests a novel algorithm to avoid these problems. The suggested algorithm consists of multi-sampling, interpolation, threshold method, and fault points elimination. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we used several angiographic images in experimentation, and we found that the proposed method is effective for detecting the catheter insertion path.
A Study on an Image Stabilization for Car Vision System

The image stabilization is the procedure of stabilizing the blurred image with image processing method. Due to easy detection of global motion, PA(Projection algorithm) based on digital image stabilization has been studied by many researchers. PA has the advantage of easy implementation and low complexity, but in the case of serious rotational motion the accuracy of the algorithm will be cut down because of its fixed exploring range, and, on the other hand, if extending the exploring range, the block for detecting motion will become small, then we cannot detect correct global motion. In this paper, to overcome the drawback of conventional PA, an Iterative Projection Algorithm (IPA) is proposed, which improved the correctness of global motion by detecting global motion with detecting block which is appropriate to different extent of motion. With IPA, in the case of processing 1000 continual frames shot in automobile, compared with conventional algorithm and other detecting range, the results of PSNR is improved 6.8% at least, and 28.9% at the most.
Study for Chronic Diseases Patients Management System using Zigbee of based WPAN

As an aged population has increased in Korea, the number of patients with chronic disease has soared up as well. The rapid increase of the chronic disease triggers a need of new paradigm of healthcare. In terms of data transmission of healthcare system, a use of data-transmission protocol based on bluetooth could be dismal in application of healthcare due to its postponement of connection. On the contrary, WPAN is evaluated to be proper to support the application of healthcare in restricted geographic areas. In addition, the bluetooth, a base of the current wireless network, doesn't support a special mechanism to cope up with emergent patients because of its delayed connection among devices. Against this backdrop, this study aims to design an integrated interface of multi bio-sensing and suggest a measuring and monitering system for the patients with chronic illnesses by using Zigbee of WPAN as a sufficient bandwidth is anticipated owing to frequent deliveries of complicated biological signals.
The Modified Nonlinear Filter to Remove Impulse Noise

In the transmitting process of image signal processing system, there are several different causes of degradation that have been occurring. The main cause of degradation is attributed to the noise. The most representive method of removing noise of image, which is caused by impulse noise environment, is using the SM(standard median filter). At edge, the filter has a special feature which has a tendency to decrease. As a result, we proposed a nonlinear filter that restores the image considering edge quality in the impulse noise environment. And through the simulation, we compared with the many of the conventional algorithms and the value of the PSNR(peak signal to nise ratio) is better than them and preserve the edge very well. So the nonlinear filter that proposed in this paper is excepted to help improve restoring the images that in impulse noise environment.
Network framework design and implementation of packet processing perspective for development environments of gateway application in wireless sensor network environments

WSN gateway which runs transmission between WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) based on IEEE 802.15.4 and PN (Public Network) based on TCP/IP belongs to core technology of application based on two network. Because WSN Gateway receives various kinds of packet from many sensor nodes in an uncertain time as well as uses hardware's performance enough, it has high level of complexity about software and it is hard to be implemented. To solve these problems, this paper suggests both efficient event detection scheme for identify packet and implementation unit of protocol called 'Transaction'. The results of applying the proposed network framework, complexity of software reduces. And we provide software development environments of reflect various performance requirements.
Energy Efficient Cluster Head Election Algorithm Considering RF-Coverage

In WSN, at the initial stage, sensor nodes are randomly deployed over the region of interest, and self-configure the clustered networks by grouping a bunch of sensor nodes and selecting a cluster header among them. Specially, in WSN environment, in which the administrator's intervention is restricted, the self-configuration capability is essential to establish a power-conservative WSN which provides broad sensing coverage and communication coverage. In this paper, we propose a communication coverage-aware cluster head election algorithm for Herearchical WSNs which consists of communication coverage-aware of the Base station is the cluster head node is elected and a clustering.
Effects of Agrobacterium tumefaciens and Tumor-inducing plasmid on the virulence gene expression

We examined the effects of various phenolic compounds, Ti plasmids(octopine, nopaline) and A. tumefaciens on the vir gene expression. Nine phenolic compounds were tested using 3 types of Ti plasmid and 3 strains of A. tumefaciens on the vir gene expression. It was also investigated how the levels of vir gene expression could be related to specific phenolic compounds. Six phenolic compounds as 4-hydroxyacetophenone, phenol, catechol, resorcinol, acetosyringone and vanillin had exhibited a strong effect on the vir gene expression of A. tumefaciens MW107 containing nopaline Ti plasmid. The vir genes of A. tumefaciens MW105 and MW108 containing octopine Ti plasmids were remarkably stimulated only by acetosyringone. Thus, it appeared that the vir gene inducing abilities were differed by the kinds of phenolic compounds, A. tumefaciens and Ti plasmids.
