Digital Hologram Contents Manipulation and Synthesis

This paper is to propose a method to obtain a new digital hologram content, a high value-added digital content, by manipulating one or more existing digital hologram contents or depth informations. For the depth informations, we use both the ones converted from disparities by stereo matching and the ones taken by time-of-flight (TOF) depth cameras. For them, we analyze the properties and their differences for the two kinds of depth informations and propose a conversion method to homogenize them. By using them, we propose a method to convert and synthesize the depth informations to calculate a new CGH. Also, we propose a method to get a new digital hologram content by synthesizing the digital holograms themselves according to their linearity. The proposed methods are experimented with various depth informations and digital holograms to show that they are very effective as the manipulating methods for digital hologram contents.
Tag Identification Scheme based on Multi-Reader for Reducing Tag Authentication Time

The use of RFID is recently increasing for the realization of Ubiquitous computing. Reducing the process time of tag recognition is crucial as RFID system has to recognize multiple objects in a short amount of time. In this manuscript, therefore, an effective scheme using multi-reader is suggested to improve processing speed for tag authentication in RFID system. According to the result of performance analysis, the processing time required for tag authentication was drastically reduced in multi-reader environment than it was in a single reader. Consequently, the use of the suggested scheme cuts down on the processing time while identifying tags by using multi-reader and bring about overall performnce improvement of RFID system.
Phase Noise Evaluation of Multi-mode based-COMS Communication Transponder

The COMS, which is a multi-purposed satellite that provide the oceanic measurement data and meterological image data, is operating since 2010. Ka-band satellite communication transponder in COMS gets the MSM function that can provide the required multi-beam and transmits the multi-mode signal with high data rate. The phase noise of COMS communication transponder can be increased because of several local oscillators for MSM function and the utilization of Ka-band frequency. The phase noise affects the performance for the multi-mode and high rate data based- transmission method, it is not possible to recover the transmission data in system with the high system phase noise. In this paper, the phase noise of COMS was measured and the effects of the measured phase noise are analysed and evaluated in the viewpoint of the noise bandwidth of transmission system, Also the transmission performances for multi-mode and high rate data are evaluated in the presence of COMS phase noise.

In this study, we proposed an intelligent algorithm for the performance improvement of ASK system for giga-bit modem in millimeter band. The proposed intelligent algorithm is a fuzzy logic system. The inputs to the fuzzy logic system are the remainder and integral of remainder that occurred counter of receiver, and the output is bandwidth of LPF. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation is performed to the proposed system and the fixed bandwidth system, and is confirmed to the BER performance.
Biological Early Warning Systems using UChoo Algorithm

This paper proposes a method to implement biological early warning systems(BEWS). This system generates periodically data event using a monitoring daemon and it extracts the feature parameters from this data sets. The feature parameters are derived with 6 variables, x/y coordinates, distance, absolute distance, angle, and fractal dimension. Specially by using the fractal dimension theory, the proposed algorithm define the input features represent the organism characteristics in non-toxic or toxic environment. And to find a moderate algorithm for learning the extracted feature data, the system uses an extended learning algorithm(UChoo) popularly used in machine learning. And this algorithm includes a learning method with the extended data expression to overcome the BEWS environment which the feature sets added periodically by a monitoring daemon. In this algorithm, decision tree classifier define class distribution information using the weight parameter in the extended data expression. Experimental results show that the proposed BEWS is available for environmental toxicity detection.
Reflection Noise Rejection of Ultrasonic Sensor using Scheduling Firing Method

In this paper, we proposed a new method which analyzes and eliminates errors occurring by multi-reflection of ultrasonic firing in mobile robot application. This new method allows ultrasonic sensors to fire at rates that are three times faster than those customary in conventional applications readings due to ultrasonic noise disturbance. It is possible them to collect and predict sensor data much faster than conventional methods. Furthermore, this method`s capability allows mobile robot to navigate in a complex and unknown environment and to collaborate in the same environment with multiple mobile robot, even if their ultrasonic sensors operate. And it`s usefulness to avoid moving obstacles by capability of rapid collecting data. Finally, we present experimental results that demonstrate the performances of the new proposed method by experiments in a multi-reflective environment.
Digital Predistortion for Multi-band/Multi-mode Transmission Systems

New digital predistortion technique is proposed for power amplifier linearization in multi-band transmission systems. We consider a system where muli-band signals are combined and amplified by a single power amplifier (PA). In this system, the PA output is distorted by the nonlinear cross-products between different band signals as well as their own nonlinear self-products. To compensate these nonlinear effects, we propose a multiple PD structure. Each PD removes the nonlinear cross-products and self-products to mitigate the spectral regrowth for the corresponding band. Since the PD parameters for different bands are linked together, it is difficult to find the PD parameters separately. Thus, we propose an iterative method for finding the PD parameters jointly. For demonstration of the proposed method, multi-band characteristics of PA are extracted from a commercial power amplifier. Computer simulation was executed based on the PA parameters. The simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively linearize the PA and remove spectral regrowth at each signal band.
Blind Classification of Speech Compression Methods using Structural Analysis of Bitstreams

This paper addresses a blind estimation and classification algorithm of the speech compression methods by using analysis on the structure of compressed bitstreams. Various speech compression methods including vocoders are developed in order to transmit or store the speech signals at very low bitrates. As a key feature, the vocoders contain the block structure inevitably. In classification of each compression method, we use the Measure of Inter-Block Correlation (MIBC) to check whether the bitstream includes the block structure or not, and to estimate the block length. Moreover, for the compression methods with the same block length, the proposed algorithm estimates the corresponding compression method correctly by using that each compression method has different correlation characteristics in each bit location. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm classifies the speech compression methods robustly for various types and lengths of speech signals in noisy environment.
Advanced OS-CFAR Processor Design with Low Computational Effort

An OS-CFAR (Ordered Statistics CFAR) based on a sorting algorithm is useful for automotive radar systems in a multi-target situation. However, while the typical cell-averaging CFAR has low computational complexity, the OS-CFAR has much higher computation effort. In this paper, we design the new OS-CFAR architecture with a low computational effort. In the proposed method, since one time sorting processing is performed for the decision of the CFAR threshold, the whole processing effort can be reduced. When the fast sorting technique is employed, the computing time of the proposed OS-CFAR is always much shorter compared with typical OS-CFAR method regardless of the data size. We also present the processing result of proposed architecture using the real radar data.
Design and Implementation of a Wireless CCTV System based on the Binary-CDMA Technology

Binary CDMA is a new standard technology for wireless communication developed by our country that makes high speed communications and good quality of services. In this paper we researched the design and implementation methods of a wireless CCTV System based on the Binary-CDMA technology that makes it freely installed in any place without cables and laying works. We implemented the hardware and software for the CCTV system and developed a Prototype Wireless CCTV system based on the Binary-CDMA technology.

The objective of this paper is to investigate the `state of the art` of the interdomain routing protocol BGP. First, BGP is critically reviewed focusing on the BGP policy and decision making process. And then the problems which still remain as open questions are investigated in the areas of 1) protocol stability, 2) traffic engineering and 3) quality of service. The recent research trend to answer the open questions is discussed.
Policy Based Cloned CSD Detection Mechanism in Logistics

CSD(Container Security Device) is a security device with sensors that can detect the abnormal behavior such as illegal opening of a container door. Since the CSD provides security and safety of the container, CSD should not only provide security services such as confidentiality and integrity but also cloning detection. If we can not detect the cloned CSD, an adversary can use the cloned CSD for many illegal purposes. In this paper, we propose a policy based cloned CSD detection mechanism. To evaluate proposed clone detection mechanism, we have implemented the proposed scheme and evaluated the results.
Design of a GPIO Unit for Bluetooth Embedded Systems

In this contribution, we designed a general purpose input/output (GPIO) suitable for embedded systems, especially for Bluetooth baseband. Proposed architecture is compatible for the APB bus in AMBA bus architecture. General purpose I/O should be used as multi-functional and versatile interrupt sources. We considered the edge-sensitive mode as well as the level-sensitive mode for acquiring the interrupt sources. Also, we provided an option to select the operation polarity for flexible application to the embedded systems. The designed GPIO module was automatically synthesized, placed, and routed. The proposed GPIO was implemented through the Altera FPGA and well operated at 25MHz clock frequency.
A Design and Implementation of the Lift Safety Inspection System using Android Smart Phone

This thesis suggests how to design and implement an Android smart phone application which can perform self check or safety inspection of lifts effectively. The safety checks of lifts go in the way that inspectors check the lifts` conditions generally and record manually following a form at the moment. This thesis analyses lift maintenance industry and introduces how to design a system to proceed effective self check using a smart phone with Android OS. By using a smart phone to check lifts, we can have advantages to improve the quality of self check and maintain careers establishing information database about safety items.
A Study on Pipelined Transform Coding and Quantization Core for H.264/AVC Encoder

In this paper, the hardware implementation for DCT transform, Hadamard transform and quantization is studied. Especially, the proposed architecture adopting the pipeline technique can output a quantized result per clock cycle after 33-clock cycle latency. Simulations of Fabrication and Characteristics according to Structure Formation in Proposed Shallow Trench Isolation

In this paper, the edge effects of proposed structure in active region for high voltage in shallow trench isolation for very large integrated MOSFET were simulated. Shallow trench isolation (STI) is a key process component in CMOS technologies because it provides electrical isolation between transistors and transistors. As a simulation results, shallow trench structure were intended to be electric functions of passive, as device dimensions shrink, the electrical characteristics influence of proposed STI structures on the transistor applications become stronger the potential difference electric field and saturation threshold voltage.
A New Algorithm and High-Performance Hardware Design for 2-Dimensional Parallel Generation of Digital Hologram

In this paper, we propose and implement a high-speed algorithm for CGH that is to calculate digital hologram by modeling the interference phenomenon for tow lights. This algorithm changes the computation equations into a parallel-computable ones and implements it with a structure consisting of two kinds of cells (initial calculation cell, and update calculation cell). The parallel computation algorithm is to get the rest hologram pixels concurrently after calculation the first hologram column. Here, the initial calculation cells compute the first column of the hologram and the update calculation cells compute the rest of the hologram. The two kinds of cells performs a pipeline operation to complete the operations of the two cells at the same time. A CGH calculator to compute the hole hologram for a light source is structured by arranging the two kinds of cells. Results from simulation showed that the maximum operation frequency is about 215MHz. So, experiments are performed by setting this frequency and the same environments as the method showing the best performance. As the results, the proposed one could complete the computation of 81.75 CGH frames per second, while the previous method computes 62.9 CGH frames per second.

In this paper hardware implementation of GF(
) elliptic curve cryptographic coprocessor which supports 7 operations such as scalar multiplication(kP), Menezes-Vanstone(MV) elliptic curve cipher/decipher algorithms, point addition(P+Q), point doubling(2P), finite-field multiplication/division is described. To meet structure resistant against simple power analysis, the ECC processor adopts the Montgomery scalar multiplication scheme which main loop operation consists of the key-independent operations. It has operational characteristics that arithmetic units, such GF_ALU, GF_MUL, and GF_DIV, which have 1, (m/8), and (m-1) fixed operation cycles in GF(
), respectively, can be executed in parallel. The processor has about 68,000 gates and its simulated worst case delay time is about 7.8 ns under 0.35um CMOS technology. Because it has about 320 kbps cipher and 640 kbps rate and supports 7 finite-field operations, it can be efficiently applied to the various cryptographic and communication applications.
Design and Implementation of 4-sided Monitoring System providing Bird`s Eye View in Car PC Environment

Driver`s view has blind spot of automobile surroundings due to physical components of automobile architecture. Obstacles on blind spot are the cause of car destruction and car accidents. Cars which produced in recent have obstacle detection sensors and rear view cameras which provide information of obstacles on the blind sopt, and have also AVM(Around View Monitoring) which provides automobile surroundings for driver`s safe driving. During a low-speed travel while parking or moving in a narrow street, a driver get help for safe driving by taking information of automobile surroundings using the above-mentioned devices. In this paper, we present a design and implementation of a 4-sided monitoring (4SM) system, which helps a driver see an integrated view of a vehicle`s perimeter at a glance, using a car PC connected to four cameras installed on the front, rear, left, and right sides.
A study on the development and performance evaluation of reflective type Heart rate measurement system for PAPS

We performed the development and performance evaluation of reflective type heart rate measurement system for PAPS. We used chip LED and chip photo TR. for low power driving. The measured PPG signal is preprocessed using high pass filter and low pass filter, and the preprocessed signal is displayed by LabVIEW. Also LabVIEW include the algorithm that extract effective signal and calculate the heart rate. We made sure that it will be able to apply to measurement equipment with high accuracy and repetition from exercising subject using this system and algorithm.
The Effect of Cooperative and Individual Learning in Computer Science

This paper investigated the effects of cooperative learning and individual learning in computer science education. Most works and projects are accomplished in groups in most IT companies in Korea. Thus, cooperative learning is one of the most important aspects that must be learned in schools. This research studies how students think of individual and cooperative learning. It also researches and analyzes how different learning methods would affect the learning effects with surveys and experiments, which were conducted during two consecutive semesters with students in a department of a computer related major at a university in Seoul. This research compares and analyzes the results after dividing the students in two groups based on the different learning methods.

Recently, a new theoretical and methodological approach for computational science is becoming more and more popular for analyzing and solving scientific problems in various scientific disciplines and applied research. Computational science is a field of study concerned with constructing mathematical models and quantitative analysis techniques and using large computing resources to solve the problems which are difficult to approach in a physical experimentally. In this paper, we present R&D of EDISON open integration platform that allows anyone like professors, researchers, industrial workers, students etc to upload their advanced research result such as simulation SW to use and share based on the cyber infrastructure of supercomputer and network. EDISON platform, which consists of 3 tiers (EDISON application framework, EDISON middleware, and EDISON infra resources) provides Web portal for education and research in 5 areas (CFD, Chemistry, Physics, Structural Dynamics, Computational Design) and user service.
The Expert Search System using keyword association based on Multi-Ontology

This study constructs an expert search system which has a mutual cooperation function based on thesis and author profile. The proposed methodology is as follows. First, we propose weighting method which can search a keyword and the most relevant keyword. Second, we propose a method which can search the experts efficiently with this weighting method. On the preferential basis, keywords and author profiles are extracted from the papers, and experts can be searched through this method. This system will be available to many fields of social network. However, this information is distributed to many systems. We propose a method using multi-ontology to integrate distributed data. The multi-ontology is composed of meta ontology, instance ontology, location ontology and association ontology. The association ontology is constructed through analysis of keyword association dynamically. An expert network is constructed using this multi-ontology, and this expert network can search expert through association trace of keyword. The expert network can check the detail area of expertise through the research list which is provided by the system.
A Fairness and QoS Supporting MAC(FQSM) Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper we propose the FQSM(Fairness and QoS Supporting MAC) protocol that supports fairness and Quality of Service(QoS). The received or measured data traffics will be assigned a priority level according to its transmission urgency in the FQSM. And the load prediction algorithm is used to support the fairness between different priority traffics. For this, the buffer length values of the nodes are continuously monitored for a some period. Based on the buffer length variations for this period, the order of transmission is determined. FQSM also adapts cross-layer concept to rearrange the data transmission order in each sensor node`s buffer, saves energy consumption by allowing few nodes in data transmission, and prolongs the network lifetime.
i-LEACH : Head-node Constrained Clustering Algorithm for Randomly-Deployed WSN

Generally, the clustering of sensor nodes in WSN is a useful mechanism that helps to cope with scalability problem and, if combined with network data aggregation, may increase the energy efficiency of the network. The Hierarchical clustering routing algorithm is a typical algorithm for enhancing overall energy efficiency of network, which selects cluster-head in order to send the aggregated data arriving from the node in cluster to a base station. In this paper, we propose the improved-LEACH that uses comparably simple and light-weighted policy to select cluster-head nodes, which results in reduction of the clustering overhead and overall power consumption of network. By using fine-grained power model, the simulation results show that i-LEACH can reduce clustering overhead compared with the well-known previous works such as LEACH. As result, i-LEACH algorithm and LEACH algorithm was compared, network power-consumption of i-LEACH algorithm was improved than LEACH algorithm with 25%, and network-traffic was improved 16%.
A Context-aware Mobile Augmented Reality Platform

In this paper, we proposed a context-aware augmented reality platform for mobile augmented reality to support user-oriented virtual world information for smartphone user. We designed the platform architecture and 6 subsystems which are derived from the analysis of existing augmented reality applications and platforms. The proposed architecture includes a context reasoning service subsystem for the context-aware information filtering, and separates the inner platform from the outer virtual world network containing virtual information to resolve interoperability issue of POI(Points of Interest) data.
