Wireless Access Network Virtualization Based on Distributed Antenna Systems

In this paper, we propose a wireless access network virtualization algorithm based on a digital unit (DU)-radio unit (RU) separated network structure in a cellular network with multiple radio access technologies (RATs). The proposed wireless access network virtualization algorithm consists of a baseline access network virtualization, RAT virtualization, and access path migration algorithms. Final wireless access network virtualization is performed by sequentially performing these procedures. Through system-level simulations which assume 3GPP LTE and WiMAX systems, the performance of the proposed wireless access network virtualization is evaluated in terms of system throughput for two scenarios according to asymmetry of network traffic load. Numerical results show that our proposed wireless access network virtualization algorithm achieves significant system throughput gain even in asymmetric traffic load and user distribution situations.
A Study on the Development of Next Generation Wireless PAN Algorithms with Location Awareness Technique

In this paper, we propose the channel sounding scheme which is made for ideal communication between some application as well as the short distance of high speed data transmission in MIMO-OFDM system for Wireless PAN. This method is able to perceive the duration of the impulse response through the delaying of power delay profile, modeled a power delay profile which has an attenuate characteristic, and obtained the coefficient of channel response by ML (maximum likelihood). Through the amplitudes, phases and delays associated with each multipath component which were acquired from this channel sounding scheme, we can describe the wave propagation characteristics of channels between the transmitter and receiver so that the receiver could enhance not only the reliability but also the ability of communication link. Multi agent system models can be used to analyze the path of the system within any time frame. Further, parameter values can be perturbed to examine how the path of the system changes in response to exogenous shocks.
A Study on Simulation of Doppler Spectra in a Current Velocity Radar

A current velocity measurement radar for a river or a stream estimates Doppler frequencies of return echoes to extract the corresponding surface velocity information. It is very important to maintain the reliability and accuracy of these velocity estimates for water resource management such as flooding or drought conditions. However, received Doppler spectra of water surface return echoes have very widely varying shapes according to different measurement environments and weather conditions. Therefore, serious problems may arise in maintaining the reliability and accuracy of velocity estimating algorithm in a radar sensor because of Doppler spectra which can have many different kind of shapes. Therefore, in this paper, an appropriate Doppler spectrum model is suggested to simulate many various Doppler spectra. This model can be very useful in validating the reliability and accuracy of surface velocity estimates.

In this paper, we propose a method obtaining an improved panoramic image with forward warping transformation and bilinear interpolation in recovering information lost during the transforming process. The proposed fish-eyed image restructuring method is verified to be sufficiently effective in the experiment with various forms of fish-eyed lens images.

The study of automatic monitoring and analysis of marine environment in Korea is not enough. Recently, the marine monitoring technology is actively being studied since the sea is a rich repository of natural resources that is taken notice in the world. In particular, the marine environment data should be collected continuously in order to understand and analyze the marine environment, however the marine environment monitoring is limited in many area yet. The prediction of marine disaster by automatic collecting marine environment data and analyzing the collected data can contribute to minimized the damages with respect to marine pollution of oil spill and fisheries damage by red tide blooms and marine environment upsets. In this paper, we proposed the marine environment monitoring and analysis system model. The proposed system automatically collects the marine environment information for monitoring the marine environment intelligently. Also it predicts the marine disaster by analyzing the collected ocean data.
A Study on Eigenspace Face Recognition using Wavelet Transform and HMM

This paper proposed the real time face area detection using Wavelet transform and the strong detection algorithm that satisfies the efficiency of computation and detection performance at the same time was proposed. The detected face image recognizes the face by configuring the low-dimensional face symbol through the principal component analysis. The proposed method is well suited for real-time system construction because it doesn`t require a lot of computation compared to the existing geometric feature-based method or appearance-based method and it can maintain high recognition rate using the minimum amount of information. In addition, in order to reduce the wrong recognition or recognition error occurred during face recognition, the input symbol of Hidden Markov Model is used by configuring the feature values projected to the unique space as a certain symbol through clustering algorithm. By doing so, any input face will be recognized as a face model that has the highest probability. As a result of experiment, when comparing the existing method Euclidean and Mahananobis, the proposed method showed superior recognition performance in incorrect matching or matching error.
Implementation of an Intelligent Robot Control System Based on UPnP

With the increased demand of ubiquitous home services, intelligent robots have wide attentions. This kind of robots offer various services through middleware components which can connect with remote servers. In this paper we present an UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) based open-source software framework which makes control the robots remotely. This UPnP architecture for home networking can provide various communication methodologies like command control, eventing, presentation with web services and so on. This paper shows successful implementation results on two real platforms.

Many studies in detection and classification of the targets in the underwater environments have been conducted for military purposes, as well as for non-military purpose. Due to the complicated characteristics of underwater acoustic signal reflecting multipath environments and spatio-temporal varying characteristics, active sonar target classification technique has been considered as a difficult technique. And it has a difficult in collecting actual underwater data. In this paper, we implemented the simulator to synthesize the active target signal, to extract feature and to classify the target in the underwater environment. In target signal synthesis, highlight and three-dimensional model are used and multi-aspect based hidden markov model is used for target classification.
A Study on Horizontal Shuffle Scheduling for High Speed LDPC decoding in DVB-S2

DVB-S2 employs LDPC codes which approach to the Shannon`s limit, since it has characteristics of a good distance, error floor does not appear. Furthermore it is possible to processes full parallel processing. However, it is very difficult to high speed decoding because of a large block size and number of many iterations. This paper present HSS algorithm to reduce the iteration numbers without performance degradation. In the flooding scheme, the decoder waits until all the check-to-variable messages are updated at all parity check nodes before computing the variable metric and updating the variable-to-check messages. The HSS algorithm is to update the variable metric on a check by check basis in the same way as one code draws benefit from the other. Eventually, LDPC decoding speed based on HSS algorithm improved 30% ~50% compared to conventional one without performance degradation.

In accordance with evolution of next-generation mobile Internet, 2G, 3G, 4G, and B4G mobile communication wireless access networks will be co-existed and service providers will be merged as an integrated service provider. In addition, multiple virtual service operators will appear. In order to provide complicated unified-services, in the future Internet, wireless network virtualization where network resource is shared by various service operators is necessary. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate network architectures and virtualization scenarios for wireless access network virtualization where various wireless access technologies are flexibly operated by multiple service providers over next-generation wireless access networks. We expect that the virtualization scenario and network architecture yielded from this study can play a role as a basis for development of wireless access network virtualization algorithms.
Simulated RF Signal Generator for Receiver Performance Verification

A signal receiving system can measure and analyze frequency, pulse modulation, scan modulation, frequency modulation on pulse, phase modulation on pulse of RF signal. A signal receiving system should be verified under simulated RF signal environment prior to verification on operation in fields. This paper describes an effective method to generate simulated RF signals with considering operational scenario. The simulated RF signal generator can be effectively used to evaluate the performance of the signal receiver and reduce the test cost of the signal receiver.

PCs and its peripherals uses more power in standby mode even if they are not actually being used. In particular, PCs and its peripherals used in school and office, plugged in at all times during working hours, but not used much time, even if turned off consume a portion of the power. In this paper, we developed Networked Smart Plug for Power Management of PC & Peripherals which is consist of EMS, Smart Plug, PC Agent and Smart Phone App. for power saving of PC and a variety of peripheral devices in office or home, and evaluated the performance of the system.

A different and effective method for indoor positioning system is needed and increased it`s importance compare to the outdoor GPS based method. The FingerPrint positioning method is known as a superior method in indoor positioning system that maintains signal strength patterns for RPs(Reference Points) in database and compare the DB with the measured real-time signals on the mobile device. FingerPrint positioning method is necessary to establish an accurate database, but errors can occur by several factors. In this paper, we analyze the signal patterns of each terminal in accordance with connection state of access point and trace that the error in accordance with connection state of access point can be an important error in FingerPrint DB configuration through an experimental case study.
Implementation of the Monitoring System for Power Condition System(PCS) using a Smartphone and Bluetooth Communication

The monitoring of the existing inverter is being implemented using a local computer of web monitoring, but in this paper, the remote monitoring system of the power condition system was implemented using a Bluetooth communication at a convenient position for the user that can be monitored without the computer. The proposed system was designed to be able to monitor the wanted information by using the protocol of inverter. Also when the power condition system has failed, the fault history and the generated time of inverter were stored in the Bluetooth device. Finally the performance of the proposed system was evaluated through experiments, it showed the good performance and the possibility of commercialization.

VANET is a network environment which provides the communication between vehicles and between vehicle and RSU using wireless communication. VANET is very important to protect safety and life of people. Because of that, security is considered enough and certification is very important when messages exchanged between vehicles. Recently, Zhang proposed using Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol that is method exchanging messages in VANET system through RAISE. But this is many problems on weakness from various attacks. In this paper, proposed the method that establish symmetric key using ECDH key exchange protocol and confirm safety and time spending that generate key and exchange through comparison.
A Dynamic Trust Framework for Sharing Identity Authentication

Identity authentication sharing technology which allows many service providers to share the result of identity authentication of an identity provider provides several important advantages including high usability achieved by avoiding repeated registration of identity information to service providers and single sign-on, cost effectiveness of service providers achieved by outsourcing identity authentication services from identity providers, and privacy protection achieved by exposing identity information only to a limited number of controlled identity providers. However, in order for the identity authentication sharing technologies to be widely deployed in global Internet scale, the trustworthiness issue among the participating identity providers, service providers, and users should be resolved in advance. This paper firstly analyzes existing trust frameworks for identity authentication sharing. And then, based on the result of analysis, this paper proposes a dynamic and open trust framework for identity authentication sharing.

Recently, wireless Internet environment with mobile phones and wireless sensor networks with severe resource restrictions have been actively studied. Moreover, an overall security issues are essential to build a reliable and secure sensor network. One of secure solution is to develop a fast cryptographic algorithm for data encryption. Therefore, we propose a 128-bit stream cipher, AA128 which has efficient implementation of software and hardware and is suitable for real-time applications such as wireless Internet environment with mobile phones, wireless sensor networks and Digital Right Management (DRM). AA128 is stream cipher which consists of 278-bit ASR and non-linear transformation. Non-linear transformation consists of Confusion Function, Nonlinear transformation(SF0 ~ SF3) and Whitening. We show that the proposed stream cipher AA128 is faster than AES and Salsa20, and it satisfies the appropriate security requirements. Our hardware simulation result indicates that the proposed cipher algorithm can satisfy the speed requirements of real-time processing applications.

As smartphone users are over 20 million, companies, which offer cloud computing services, try to support various mobile devices. If so, users can use the same cloud computing service using mobile devices, as sharing document. When user share the work, there are problem in configuration management, data confidentiality and integrity. In this paper, we propose a method that cloud computing users share document efficiently, edit encrypted docuements, and manage configuration based on homomorphic encryption, which integrity is verifiable.
Design of the Node Decision Scheme for Processing Queries on Sensor Network Environments

Since sensor data are inserted into a data set continuously, continuous queries should be evaluated for searching data. To processing the continuous queries, it is required to build a query index on each sensor node and to transmit result data appropriate for query predicates. However, if query predicates are transferred to all sensor nodes, massive messages are required. In this paper, we propose the node decision scheme using the sensor node decision tree in order to diminish messages. The entry of a leaf node in the node decision tree represents a sensor node and defines the data region of the sensor node. When a user query is issued, sensor nodes are decided by intersecting between data regions of the tree with the query predicates of the user query, and then the query predicates are transmitted to the selected sensor nodes. We also implement the proposed sensor node decision tree and evaluate the experiments for the tree.

Currently, the AC-to-DC power conversion system using diode rectifiers is mainly used in large vessels. Also, to reduce the total harmonic distortion(THD) of current and voltage, this system requires an additional phase-shifting transformer which can be powered multi-pulses. In this case, due to the installation of the transformer, the spatial or economic loss occurs. This paper presents a novel active rectification scheme using silicon controlled rectifier(SCR) or insulated gate bipolar transistor(IGBT) devices on behalf of the diode rectifiers which are currently operating in large vessels such as LNG Carrier(LNGC). The proposed system can use the low voltage source and reduce current and voltage harmonics generated by nonlinear loads connected to the power distribution bus and save economic costs by removing the phase-shifting transformers which are used in conventional system. Computer simulations are performed under the electric propulsion system which is operating in current large vessel. The results are shown in support of the improvement of THD included in the current and voltage wave forms of propulsion motor.
Design of a DC-DC converter for intra-oral CMOS X-ray image sensors

A bias circuit required for an oral sensor is manufactured inside the oral sensor chip to reduce its size and cost. The proposed DC-DC converter supplies the required reference and bias currents for their corresponding regulators by using IREF of the reference current generator. Their target voltages of the voltage regulators are regulated by the negative mechanism by generating their reference voltages required for their corresponding regulators. In addition, a constant current IB0/IB1 is supplied by being mirrored by a current mirror ratio and then VREF is generated. It is confirmed by measurements that the average volatge,
of the designed DC-DC converter for intra oral sensors with a
X-ray CMOS process are within their required ranges. And the line-pair pattern image shows a high-resolution characteristic without blurring. Also, a good oral image can be obtained.
A study on CIGS thin film characteristic with composition ratio change

In this paper, we produced CIGS thin film by co-evaporation method. During the process, substrate temperature and Ga/(In+Ga) composition ratio was altered to observe the change of resistivity and absorbance spectra measurements. As substrate temperature increased, resistivity decreased and as Ga/(In+Ga) composition ratio increased from 0.30 to 0.72, band gap also increased with the range of 1.26eV, 1.30eV, 1.43eV, 1.47eV. With the constant condition of composition ratio, resistivity decreased with increased thickness of the thin film. On this experiment, we assumed that optical absorbance ratio and optical current will be increased with CIGS thin film fabrication.
An Efficient Hardware Design for Scaling and Transform Coefficients Decoding

In this paper, an efficient hardware architecture is proposed for inverse transform and inverse quantization of H.264/AVC decoder. The previous inverse transform and quantization architecture has a different AC and DC coefficients decoding order. In the proposed architecture, IQ is achieved after IT regardless of the DC or AC coefficients. A common operation unit is also proposed to reduce the computational complexity of inverse quantization. Since division operation is included in the previous architecture, it will generate errors if the processing order is changed. In order to solve the problem, the division operation is achieved after IT to prevent errors in the proposed architecture. The architecture is implemented with 3-stage pipeline and a parallel vertical and horizontal IDCT is also implemented to reduce the operation cycle. As a result of analyzing the proposed ITIQ architecture operation cycle for one macroblock, the proposed one has improved by 45% than the previous one.
Performance Analysis of Bus Architecture Due to Data Traffic Concentration

The general bus system architecture consists of masters, slaves, arbiter, decoder and so on in shared bus. As several masters can`t use a bus concurrently, arbiter plays an role in bus arbitration. In compliance with the selection of arbitration method, The efficiency of bus usage can be determined. Fixed Priority, Round-Robin, TDMA, Lottery arbitration are studied in conventional arbitration method. In this paper, we draw the performance analysis of Fixed Priority, Round Robin, TDMA and Lottery bus arbitration policies due to the data traffic concentration and propose the methods of performance improvement.
Analysis of Subthreshold Swings Based on Scaling Theory for Double Gate MOSFET

This study has presented the analysis of subthreshold swings based on scaling theory for double gate MOSFET. To solve the analytical potential distribution of Poisson`s equation, we use Gaussian function to charge distribution. The scaling theory has been used to analyze short channel effect such as subthreshold swing degradation. These scaling factors for gate length, oxide thickness and channel thickness has been modified with the general scaling theory to include effects of double gates. We know subthreshold swing degradation is rapidly reduced when scaling factor of gate length is half of general scaling factor, and parameters such as projected range and standard projected deviation have greatly influenced on subthreshold swings.

In this paper, we propose a novel nonlinear 3D image correlator using a fast computational integral imaging reconstruction (CIIR) method. In order to implement the fast CIIR method, the magnification process was eliminated. In the proposed correlator, elemental images of the reference and target objects are picked up by lenslet arrays. Using these elemental images, reference and target plane images are reconstructed on the output plane by means of the proposed fast CIIR method. Then, through nonlinear cross-correlations between the reconstructed reference and the target plane images, the pattern recognition can be performed from the correlation outputs. Nonlinear correlation operation can improve the recognition of 3D objects. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, some preliminary experiments are carried out and the results are presented by comparing the conventional method.
A Study of Gamma-ray Irradiation Effects on Commercially Available Single-mode Optical Fiber using Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor Systems

In this study,
gamma-ray induced loss on Ge-doped single mode (SM) fiber has been measured. Gamma-ray is irradiated for 4 hours at the dose rate of 0.5 kGy/hr, 2 kGy/hr, 8 kGy/hr. Consequently, gamma-ray induced loss based on radiation effects in Ge-doped SM fiber occur significantly. Furthermore, dose rate effect was observed, that dose rate using the same total dose increased higher, then optical fiber loss increased more. Also annealing effect was observed, that the loss after irradiation, increased higher, then the recovery rate of loss was increased. This results are foreseen to be base data in the future radiation-hardened optical fiber study.
Performance Improvement of WDM Signals through Precompensation and Postcompensation in Dispersion Managed Optical Transmission Links with Artificial Distribution of Single Mode Fiber Length and RDPS

New optical transmission links technique for compensating of the distorted wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) signals due to group velocity dispersion (GVD) and self phase modulation (SPM) in single mode fiber (SMF) are proposed. The proposed optical links have optical phase conjugator (OPC) placed at nearby WDM transmitter or receiver and repeater spans with artificial distribution of SMF length and residual dispersion per span (RDPS). It is confirmed that optimal link configuration expanding effective launching power range and effective net residual dispersion (NRD) by improving system performance is that having OPC closely placed at WDM receiver and the gradually descended distribution of SMF length and RDPS of each repeater spans, related with the gradually increased optical link length. And, it is also confirmed that NRD is controlled by postcompensation in optimal optical link with OPC closely placed at WDM receiver.
Resource Augmentation Analysis on Deadline Scheduling with Malleable Tasks

In this paper, we deal with the problem of scheduling parallel tasks with deadlines. Parallel tasks can be simultaneously executed on various machines and specially, we consider the malleable tasks, that is, the tasks whose execution time is given by a function of the number of machines on which they are executed. The goal of the problem is to maximize the throughput of tasks completed within their deadlines. This problem is well-known as NP-hard problem. Thus we will find an approximation algorithm, and its performance is compared with that of the optimal algorithm and analyzed by finding the approximation ratio. In particular, the algorithm has more resources, that is, more machines, than the optimal algorithm. This is called the resource augmentation analysis. We propose an algorithm to guarantee the approximation ratio of 3.67 using 1.5 times machines.
The Analysis of the Quality Impact of Airline SNS from the Viewpoint of System and Information

The objective of this research is to suggest how to keep the continuous customers and how to build business model and marketing strategy. In detail, this research aims to closely examine the relationship among SNS quality(service quality, information quality, system quality) for airline customers, relational benefit(social benefits, psychological benefit, customization benefit, economic benefit) and customer satisfaction. As a result, if SNS quality is getting better, relational benefit better is higher. Specifically service information quality is more impactive to relational benefit than system quality. The effect of psychological customization benefits from SNS quality is the strongest to customer satisfaction of all factors. To conclude, the results of this research can be the guideline when designing marketing strategies for airline customers and for traditional tourism customers who use SNS.

The present study investigates a standardized framework for support system of ship design engineering. The purpose of this research is to improve the efficiency of information gathering and its use in tasks of the ship design engineering support system. Due to their variety and complexity, the existing engineering methods tend to waste time in searching for the standardized method and knowledge or to cause errors on tasks. Generally, these kinds of system have serious problems. The most serious one among them is that the existing system consists of both useful and useless data. This finally leads engineers to a failure in finding out useful information from the system. We have designed a standardized framework, which enables users to properly recompose the menu form depending on the task process, simplifies the methods at several process levels, and provides a more intuitive method in user interface environment in order to resolve the existing problems, minimize the system-operating costs, and improve the efficiency of engineering tasks.

Over the world, the development of critical technology for the safety and security of coastal distribution based on ubiquitous computing is being processed to meet the bottom lines of governmental regulations. Currently, 3D detectors using X-rays for freight search technology are being developed concerning U-based shipping security systems. In addition to that, there are increasing needs for developing portable radiation detector to detect gamma rays. The purpose of the thesis is to suggest the research of high speed portable gamma rays detector platform to prevent disorder caused to humans and public objects.
A Study on Implementation of Transient Radiation Effects on Electronics(TREE) Assessment System

In this paper, we performed a study of damage assessment model development to analyze the initial nuclear pulse radiation damage to semiconductor devices for military weapon systems. At first we modeled(M) the nuclear pulse radiation and diode device, and simulated(S) the output characteristics of the device to the input. Then the manufactured diodes which had the same characteristics with the modeled one were irradiated to the similar pulsed type radiation and their output signals were measured simultaneously. Error between the M & S results and the measured values of the analysis was 22.9%. Through the error value we could confirm that the damage assessment model simulated the TREE effects with a quite accuracy.

The detector is an uncooled detector system that functions inside the thermoelectric cooler (TEC) equipped with features instead of the cooler. The function of the thermoelectric device to control the temperature of the detector based on a function of temperature to prevent degradation of image quality to perform the role, the latest technology trend by removing the thermoelectric device size, cost a lot of effort to reduce has been studied. In this paper, It would be proposed of the actual test result using real chamber environment of for the best TECless algorithm as to minimize the degradation of image quality and obtain the low price of the uncooled detector.
