A Dynamic Power Management System for Multiple Client in Cloud Computing Environment

In this paper, a dynamic power management system is proposed to reduce energy consumption for multiple clients in cloud computing environments. The proposed system monitors both keyboard and mouse input from the user, available memory, and CPU usage in the virtual machine. If the system detects no keyboard and mouse input for a certain amount of time and both available memory and CPU usage reach predefined threshold value, the manager in the virtual machine orders the client to shutdown the client machine, which results in significant power save. The developed system is applied to the real university computer lab and the performance of the system is evaluated.
Analysis on Co-use Performance of System according to Duty Cycle of Interfering Transmitter Signal

In this paper, we analyze the total performance according to duty cycle of interfering transmitter in hetero systems. We analyze this criteria as a parameter for co-use when hetero systems share the same frequency channels. In order to make an analysis of relationship between duty cycle and performances of two systems. We take into consideration on the case that WiBro is an victim receiver and WLAN is a interfering transmitter. Analyzed coexistence results may be widely applied into the technique developed to get the coexisting condition for wireless devices using many communication protocols in same frequency.
Design of Fuzzy Controller for Two Wheeled Inverted Pendulum Robot Using Neural Network

In this paper, a controller for two wheeled inverted pendulum robot is designed to have more stable balancing capability than conventional controller. Fuzzy control structure is chosen for the two wheeled inverted pendulum robot, and fuzzy membership function factors for the controller are obtained for specified 3 users` weights using trial-and-error method. Next a neural network is employed to generate fuzzy membership function factors for more stable control performance when the user`s weight is arbitrarily selected. Through the simulation study we find that the designed fuzzy controller using the neural network is superior to the conventional fuzzy controller.
An Acoustic Echo Canceller for Double-talk by Blind Signal Separation

This paper describes an acoustic echo canceller with double-talk by the blind signal separation. The acoustic echo canceller is deteriorated or diverged in the double-talk period. So we use the blind signal separation to estimate the near-end speech signal and to eliminate the estimated signal from the residual signal. The blind signal separation extracts the near-end signal with dual microphones by the iterative computations using the 2nd order statistical character. Because the mixture model of blind signal separation is multi-channel in the closed reverberation environment, we used the copied coefficients of echo canceller without computing the separation coefficients. By this method, the acoustic echo canceller operates irrespective of double-talking. We verified performances of the proposed acoustic echo canceller by simulations. The results show that the acoustic echo canceller with this algorithm detects the double-talk periods thoroughly, and then operates stably in the normal state without the divergence of coefficients after ending the double-talking. And it shows the ERLE of averagely 20dB higher than the normal LMS algorithm.
Performance Evaluation of STBC OFDM Systems using Channel Information

STBC is a technique where a multiple antenna signals are transmitted. With this technique, antenna diversity can be achieved. The performance of STBC OFDM system using pilot symbol for the channel estimation is analyzed. IEEE 802.16e standards suggest that the BER performance of STBC system can be improved using channel state information. Pilot symbol is used for the channel estimation in OFDM systems. However, imperfect channel estimates in this systems degrade the performance. The performance of this STBC OFDM systems using channel state information, gauged by the average bit error rate, is analyzed considering the channel estimation error.
An Interpolation Filter Design for the Full Digital Audio Amplifier

A computationally efficient interpolation filter with a low-distortion performance is a key component to utilize the naturally-sampled pulse width modulation (NPWM) in a digital domain. To realize the efficient interpolation filter, we propose a novel design based on the recently-proposed modified Farrow filter. The proposed filter shows a better pass-band distortion performance maintaining similar degree of complexity compared with the conventional Lagrange interpolation filter. We achieve the maximum distortion deviation of 10-3 dB to 20-kHz audible frequency range and distortion reduction of 1/6 times compared with the Lagrange interpolation filter.
A Fast Wyner-Ziv Video Decoding Method Using Adaptive LDPCA Frame-based Parity Bit Request Estimation

Recently, many research works are focusing on DVC (Distributed Video Coding) system for low complexity encoder. Most DVC systems need feedback channel for parity bit control to achieve the good RD performances, however, this causes the system to have high decoding latency and is considered as one of the most critical problems for real implementation. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes an effective distributed video decoding method using adaptive LDPCA frame-based parity bit request estimation. The proposed method applies for the pixel-domain Wyner-Ziv system and exploits the statistical characteristics between adjacent LDPCA frames to estimate adaptively the parity bit request. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed method achieves about 80% of latency reduction compared to the conventional no-estimation DVC system.
Multi-View Image Parking Assistant System using Vehicle Data

This paper presents a parking assistant system of multi-view using vehicle data. Proposed system provides the driver with three direction of the scenes surrounding vehicle. Depending on the handle rotation, the proposed system displays views from multiple wide-angle CCD cameras on the laptop screen to reduce blind spots, support smooth parallel or garage parking, and support comfortable and safe driving. The handle angle and gear position are obtained from ABS ECU through OBD-II port. The performance of proposed system is validated by vehicle experiments.
Design of an SPI Interface for multimedia cards in ARM Embedded Systems

In this contribution, we design and implement an SPI hardware interface for the microprocessor to communicate with the MMC (Multi-Media Card) in an embedded system. Proposed architecture is compatible with the APB in AMBA bus architecture. Embedding OS in an embedded system means a big burden in terms of hardware and software ending up with performance decline. In this paper, we adopt the concept of SPI communication without using OS in the embedded system and implement in a form of FPGA chip. The designed SPI module was automatically synthesized, placed, and routed. Implementation was performed through the Altera FPGA and well operated at 25MHz clock frequency, which satisfied our target speed.

Recharging battery in electric vehicle takes a quite long time compared with gasoline and diesel vehicle which is a problem, the industries should solve, to introduce the electric vehicle into the market. For this reason, the institutions are suggesting a method replacing the discharged battery to recharged battery which is recharged in the switching center. However, this technology is still required to make clear the controversial issues such as threats to security and identification of users. In this paper, we explore the factors that threats to securities in battery exchange system and define the security requirements of the battery exchange system to solve suggested issues. The results of the research are expected to be the reference in the other studies of electric vehicle field of the commercialization of the battery recharging methods and analysis of the securities.
Lightweight aircraft navigation system using smart devices Design and Implementation

Recently personal income level is rising. So, many people use the leisure lightweight aircraft and the population which enjoys a leisure is increasing. But as the leisure lightweight aircraft compares in the civil aircraft and the military aircraft, and it has a low price. So the equipment which it is loaded in the lightweight aircraft is not equipped. In this paper, we develop the air navigation for lightweight aircraft using the smart phone(iPhone, Android phone, Window mobile, BADA phone etc.) and the smart pad(iPad, Galaxy Tab etc.).
Implementation and Design of College Information Retrieval System Based On Ontology

Currently, in order to develop an intelligent search engine to help users retrieve information effectively, many metodes have been used. The effective retrieval methods of these methods use ontology technology. Ontology technology is the core of the Semantic Web. In the Semantic Web, ontology technology can be used to retrieve related information through the inference engine more accurately and simply on the Semantic Web. In this paper, we implement and design college information retrieval based on ontology to retrieve college class, graduate school class and person class. We have collected the hierarchy structure about the College, graduate school and person informations, and we have used protege editor of the ontology developing tool to design some ontologies with the College informations collected. We also tested the designed ontology with the Inference Engine(Pellet) of protege editor, and implemented college information retrieval system using Inference Engine(Jena) for web services.

In this paper, small-area and high-reliability design techniques of a 512-bit EEPROM are designed for UHF RFID tag chips. This paper presents an automatic system to detect variety of faults from fine pitch COF(chip-on-film) which is less than
. Developed system contains circuits and technique to detect fast various faults such as hard open, hard short, soft open and soft short from fine pattern. Basic principle for fault detection is to monitor fine differential voltage from pattern resistance differences between fault-free and faulty cases. The technique uses also radio frequency resonator arrays for easy detection to amplify fine differential voltage. We anticipate that proposed system is to be an alternative for conventional COF test systems since it can fast and accurately detect variety of faults from fine pattern COF test process.
Mixed-Mode Simulations of Touch Screen Panel Driver with Capacitive Sensor based on Improved Charge Pump Circuit

This paper introduces a 2-dimensional touch screen panel driver based on an improved capacitive sensing circuit. The improved capacitive sensing circuit based on charge pump can eliminate the remaining charges of the intermediate nodes, which may cause output voltage drift. The touch screen panel driver with mixed-mode circuits was built and simulated using Cadence Spectre. Verilog-A models the digital circuits effectively and enables them to interface with analog circuits easily. From the simulation results, we can verify the reliable operations of the simple structured touch screen panel driver based on the improved capacitive sensing circuit offering no voltage drift.
Analysis of Drain Induced Barrier Lowering for Double Gate MOSFET Using Gaussian Distribution

In this paper, drain induced barrier lowering(DIBL) has been analyzed as one of short channel effects occurred in double gate(DG) MOSFET to be next-generation devices. Since Gaussian function been used as carrier distribution for solving Poisson`s equation to obtain analytical solution of potential distribution, we expect our results using this model agree with experimental results. DIBL has been investigated according to projected range and standard projected deviation as variables of Gaussian function, and channel structure and channel doping intensity as device parameter. Since the validity of this analytical potential distribution model derived from Poisson`s equation has already been proved in previous papers, DIBL has been analyzed using this model. Resultly, DIBL has been greatly changed for channel structure and doping concentration.
Enhancing Red Tide Image Recognition using NMF and Image Revision

Red tide is a temporary natural phenomenon involving harmful algal blooms (HABs) in company with a changing sea color from normal to red or reddish brown, and which has a bad influence on coast environments and sea ecosystems. The HABs have inflicted massive mortality on fin fish and shellfish, damaging the economies of fisheries for almost every year from 1990 in South Korea. There have been many studies on red tide due to increasing damage from red tide on fishing and aquaculture industry. However, internal study of automatic red tide image classification is not enough. Especially, extraction of matching center features for recognizing algae image object is difficult because over 200 species of algae in the world have a different size and features. Previously studies used a few type of red tide algae for image classification. In this paper, we proposed the red tide image recognition method using NMF and revison of rotation angle for enhancing of recognition of red tide algae image.
3D Stereoscopic Image Production Techniques in accordance with moving Virtual Camera

The techniques of implementing 3D movie have been developed by stereoscopic representation methods of the scene based on human visual experience. Recently, though various novel approaches for stereo movies are proposed to produce realistic 3D image, more study have to be done for compensating keystone distortion which is generated by moving virtual camera. In this paper we propose a novel production technique which minimizes keystone distortion based on analyzing pixel distance, and is easily implemented on popular graphics environment. First, in graphics environment we categorize each objects as individual layers, and extract image data to produce 3D image. The comparison between each animation sequences from proposed and conventional production methods shows that our production technique well compensate the distortion.
Analysis on the new McMaster image dataset to develop demosaicking techniques

This paper describes experimental results and their analysis on the new test images, called as the McMaster image dataset, to develop demosaicking techniques. The well-known image dataset for demosaicking is so far the Kodak image dataset. However, different results have been reported, as the new image dataset is engaged in developing demosaicking techniques. Thus, we conduct a series of experiments on both the McMaster dataset and the Kodak dataset; we analyze and compare those experimental results; and we provide the peculiar features of the new dataset. Also, the experimental results and their analysis indicate that the McMaster dataset deserves to be a test image dataset for future demosaicking techniques; thus, we expect they can be utilized as basic data for demosaicking.
Fabrication of Fiber Bragg gratings using a tension controller for broad wavelength linewidth

The tension effect on fiber Bragg gratings was analyzed and the linearity of 1.24 nm/10kpsi was obtained when Bragg wavelength was varied within 3 nm by applied tension. Using tension control method, different center wavelength fiber Bragg grating(FBG) were fabricated by only single period phase mask. These serially connected four FBGs showed the transmission spectrum of 1.5 nm linewidth as a 3 dB bandwidth which was twice that of a conventional FBG.
English E-Learning System Based on .NET Framework

Existing e-learning systems not only require complex admission processes but also do not give stepwise education methods according to individual learners` characteristic. These circumstances cause learners to lose educational interest so that their educational efficiency decreases. In particular, the present e-learning systems do not provide educational approaches suitable for infant and elementary children. Under this system, the e-learning education for children does not proceed completely without guardians. To solve this problem, we design and implement an English e-learning system for elementary children based on friendly and comfortable user interfaces. For children, the proposed system reflects their age and individual interesting per each e-learning stage. This system supports both the Web application platform and smart phone application platform for various client requirements. The proposed system manages 3 classes as English learning content. Learners can experience their own English e-learning course in each class, which is compiled by current educational ability. In addition to the general functions in e-learning system, the proposed system develops content buffering algorithm to reduce data traffic in server.

The management system using the current RFID technology has the effects of reducing working hours and improvement in data processing, but it is not proper for human resource allocation since it is dominantly worked for physical resources. In this paper, we analyzed personnel control system using RFID of diverse environment and kinds of design in ship which analyzes presents of a monitoring system for safety operation and increase of efficiency in order to overcome the limitations and problems of current personnel operation management techniques using RFID.

Nowadays, the study is going on develop USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) with diffusion of the internet and development of computer network technology. USN sensor nodes equipped with various types of sensors provide sensor information to each individual sensors. To do this there needs standardized data description language for allowing many people to use based on XML in web services environment. In this paper, USN sensor information required for application services in a standardized form to describe the sensor data representation language was designed. USN-based technology utilized in the field, and will be utilized for service activation.
Antimicrobial Activity of Coptis chinensis and Sophora flavescens against Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175

As part of our screening of anticariogenic agents from medicinal plants, the ethanol extracts of 25 herbs widely used in the fork medicine were tested for the antimicrobial activity against a cariogenic bacterium Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175. The ethanol extracts of Coptis chinensis, Sophora flavescens, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Mentha arvensis, and Saururus chinensis showed antimicrobial activities against S. mutans. The extracts of Coptis chinensis and Sophora flavescens among these medicinal plants showed significant antomicrobial activity against S. mutans. These results suggested that the extracts of Coptis chinensis and Sophora flavescens could be the potential source of antimicrobial agent against S. mutans ATCC 25175.
