A Model for Measuring the R&D Project Similarity using Patent Information

For efficient investments of government budgets, It is important to analyze the similarities of R&D projects. So, existing studies have proposed a techniques for analyzing similarities using keywords or segments. However, the techniques have low accuracy. We propose a technique for similarities of projects using patent information. To achieve our goal, we suggest three metrics that are based some mathematic theories; set theory and probability theory. In order to validate our technique, we perform case studies that have 156 R&D projects and 160,218 patent informations.
Analysis and modeling of DGPS antenna performance depending on the DGPS site environment

Based on the modeling of DGPS antenna and antenna site environment, the DGPS short-monopole antenna performance according to the antenna surrounding environment are analyzed in this paper. The DGPS antenna site modeling that considers the ground conductivity and radio wave obstacles is performed and the general requirements for DGPS antenna site are proposed. In case of antenna site with proper radials on the ground plane of the fixed scale, the effect for antenna matching network due to the ground conductivity and radio wave obstacles is small but the impact on the radiation efficiency is large. To provide the stable DGPS service, it is important to install the DGPS antenna on the flat ground plain with good conductivity and without radio wave obstacles.
A Research on Performance Improvement of Wireless LAN System

We investigate the OFDM-based wireless LAN systems operating in the 60 GHz frequency band as part of the fourth-generation (4G) systems. The 60 GHz band is of much interest since this is the band in which a massive amount of spectral space has been allocated worldwide for dense wireless local communications. This paper gives an overview of 60 GHz band channel characteristics and an effect on phase noise. The performance of OFDM system is severely degraded by the local oscillator phase noise, which causes both common phase error and inter-carrier interference. In this paper, we apply phase noise suppression (PNS) algorithm that is easy for implementation to OFDM based 60 GHz wireless LAN system and analyze the SER performance. In case of using the PNS algorithm, SER performance is improved about 6 dB, 7.5 dB, respectively in 16, 64-QAM.

This paper propose a fuzzy inference model for obstacle avoidance for a mobile robot with an active camera, which is intelligently searching the goal location in unknown environments using command fusion, based on situational command using an vision sensor. Instead of using "physical sensor fusion" method which generates the trajectory of a robot based upon the environment model and sensory data. In this paper, "command fusion" method is used to govern the robot motions. The navigation strategy is based on the combination of fuzzy rules tuned for both goal-approach and obstacle-avoidance. We describe experimental results obtained with the proposed method that demonstrate successful navigation using real vision data.
Optimum Turbo Equalization Method based on Layered Space Time Codes in Underwater Communications

The performance of underwater acoustic(UWA) communication system is sensitive to the Inter-Symbol Interference(ISI) due to delay spread develop of multipath signal propagation. And due to limited frequency using acoustic wave, UWA is a low transmission rate. Thus, it is necessary technique of Space-time code, equalizer and channel code to improve transmission speed and eliminate ISI. In this paper, UWA communication system were analyzed by simulation using these techniques. In the result of simulation, the proposed Turbo Equalization method based on layered Space Time Codes has improved performance compared to conventional UWA communication.
A Comparative Study on the Impulsive Noise Mitigation Algorithms for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Systems

In this paper, performance of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system in an impulsive noise environment is analyzed. Here, it is verified that performance of the OFDM system with window nonlinearity, which is one of the impulsive noise mitigation algorithms, is dependent on the over-sampling rate and the size of window. With respect to the variation of those parameters, we also provide an appropriate region of threshold values that control amplitudes of the sampled waveform of received signals. As a result, a new combination of parameters which improves error performance of OFDM system in an impulsive noise environment as compared to the previously reported parameters is presented.

Transmission characteristics of the sound propagation is very complicate and sparse in shallow water. To increase the performance of underwater acoustic communication system, lots of channel estimation technique has been proposed. In this paper, we proposed the channel estimation based on LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm which has faster convergence speed than conventional sparse-aware LMS algorithms. The proposed method combines
-norm LMS with soft decision process. Simulation was performed by using the sound velocity profile which acquired in real sea trial. As a result, we confirmed that the proposed method shows the improved performance and faster convergence speed than conventional methods.

As the service continuity of mobile multimedia service is affected by packet loss and delay, the efficient handover control is essentially required. This paper proposes a handover admission control scheme to satisfy service continuity of mobile multimedia services in LTE-Advanced System. In this method, based on context information of mobile terminal and base station changes, the sequence diagrams between the function modules for controlling new sessions and ISHO sessions are proposed. Simulation is done for performance analysis with the measure of transmission delay and packet loss rate.

One of the techniques that are most in the spotlight today, it can be said that Big data. With Big Data, technologies already prevalent in our lives is GPS. Based on the GPS data and Big Data, in this paper, we try to analyze the pattern and path of movement of a particular target. Specific target collects the GPS data by classifying weather and grade and sex of college students, and day of the week in college students of one university. The collected data is analyzed such as movement path, movement time, pattern of repetitive behavior. And visualize it. The analysis method will be classified according to the purpose of data. By identifying relationships with other data results obtained. Based on the present study, the future, we will derive the results of the data more reliable. For this purpose, a wide range of information to be collected will additionally. Research will be developed add to such as Season, time, blood type, occupation data.
Tradeoff Analysis of Consensus Algorithm in Distributed Wireless Networks

In this paper, we analyze the tradeoff performance of a consensus algorithm when it is applied to the CSMA/CA-based distributed wireless network. The consensus algorithm has a faster convergence speed as the number of cooperating neighbors increases, but the transmission delay on the wireless network increases due to access collisions as the number of cooperating neighbors increases. Therefore, there exists a tradeoff relationship between these two performances and so there exists an optimal number of cooperating neighbors that minimizes the consensus time. The result for the optimal number of neighbors according to the number of nodes that participate in the consensus shows that it is optimal for all nodes to cooperate together in the small-scale network but it is optimal to limit the number of neighbors to a fixed value in the large-scale network with nodes greater than a certain value.
Differentiated QoS Provisioning of WBAN Traffic in WUSB Services based on IEEE 802.15.6

A recent major development in computer technology is the advent of the wearable computer system that is based on human-centric interface technology trends and ubiquitous computing environments. Wearable computer systems can use the wireless universal serial bus (WUSB) that refers to USB technology that is merged with WiMedia PHY/MAC technical specifications. In this paper, we focus on an integrated system of the wireless USB over the IEEE 802.15.6 wireless body area networks (WBAN) for wireless wearable computer systems supporting U-health services. And a communication structure that can differentiate QoS of U-health WBAN and WUSB traffic with different priorities is proposed for WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6 hierarchical protocol. In our proposal and performance evaluation, throughputs of U-health WBAN and WUSB traffic are analyzed under single and multiple QoS classes to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed QoS differentiating structure in WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6.
User-Calibration Free Gaze Tracking System Model

In remote gaze tracking system using infra-red LEDs, calibrating the position of reflected light is essential for computing pupil position in captured images. However, there are limitations in reducing errors because variable locations of head and unknown radius of cornea are involved in the calibration process as constants. This study purposes a gaze tracking method based on pupil-corneal reflection that does not require user-calibration. Our goal is to eliminate the correction process of glint positions, which require a prior calibration, so that the gaze calculation is simplified.

The motion recognition system has been broadly studied in digital image and video processing fields. Recently, method using th depth image is used very useful. However, recognition accuracy of depth image based method will be loss caused by size and shape of object distorted for angle of the depth sensor. Therefore, distortion correction of depth sensor is positively necessary for distinguished performance of the recognition system. In this paper, we propose a pre-processing algorithm to improve the motion recognition system. Depth data from depth sensor converted to real world, performed the corrected angle, and then inverse converted to projective world. The proposed system make progress using the OpenCV and the window program, and we test a system using the Kinect in real time. In addition, designed using Verilog-HDL and verified through the Zynq-7000 FPGA Board of Xilinx.
An Algorithm for One-to-One Mapping Matrix-star Graph into Transposition Graph

The matrix-star and the transposition graphs are considered as star graph variants that have various merits in graph theory such as node symmetry, fault tolerance, recursive scalability, etc. This paper describes an one-to-one mapping algorithm from a matrix-star graph to a transposition graph using adjacent properties in graph theory. The result show that a matrix-star graph
can be embedded in a transposition graph

Mesh structure is one of typical interconnection networks, and it is used in the part of VLSI circuit design. Torus and Hyper-Torus are advanced interconnection networks in the part of diameter and fault-tolerance of mesh structure. In this paper, we will analyze embedding between Torus and Hyper-Torus networks. We will show T(4k,2l) can be embedded into QT(m,n) with dilation 5, congestion 4, expansion 1. And QT(m,n) can be embedded into T(4k,2l) with dilation 3, congestion 3, expansion 1.

In this paper, signature-based of wireless intrusion detection system for Snort to suggest how to develop. The public can use hacking tools and conduct a mock hacking, Snort detects an attack of hacking tools to verify from experimental verification of the suitability of the thesis throughout.
Design of Web based Simulation Provenance Data Sharing Service

Web based simulation service is actively utilized to computably analyze various kinds of phenomena in real world according to progress of computing technology and spread of Network. However it is hard to share data and information among users on the services, because most of web based simulation services do not share and open simulation processing information and results. In this paper, we design a simulation provenance data sharing service on EDISON_CFD (EDucation-research Integration Simulation On the Net for Computational Fluid Dynamics) to share the calculated simulation performance information. To store and share the simulation processing information, we define the simulation processing step as "Problem
Report." Users can understand a problem solving method through a computer simulation by searching the simulation performance information with Search/Share API of the store. Besides, this opened simulation information can reduce the waste of calculation resource to process same simulation jobs.

With the continued popularity of mobile devices such as smart-phones and tables, the development of the various kinds of digital contents making tools has not increased only the productivity of the digital contents, but also the demand of them rapidly. Geo-contents which means the digital contents related to location(geographic) information has enabled the user custom services. Especially, there are already some commercial location-based services that provide the user to POI (Points of Interest) with the geo-image contents such as photos tagged by the location. In the geo-video contents, there could be several related locations in the whole video, but only one representative location is used to tag a location to the video. In this paper, we have define the geo-video as a video content which has as many locations as the number of frames composing the video. We have also proposed the geo-video making tools and a viewer to create and utilize the geo-video contents. The geo-video contents proposed in this paper, are widely used in location based video contents searching services.
Analysis of Subthreshold Swing for Doping Distribution Function of Asymmetric Double Gate MOSFET

This paper has analyzed the change of subthreshold swing for doping distribution function of asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET. The basic factors to determine the characteristics of DGMOSFET are dimensions of channel, i.e. channel length and channel thickness, and doping distribution function. The doping distributions are determined by ion implantation used for channel doping, and follow Gaussian distribution function. Gaussian function has been used as carrier distribution in solving the Poisson's equation. Since the Gaussian function is exactly not symmetric for top and bottome gates, the subthreshold swings are greatly changed for channel length and thickness, and the voltages of top and bottom gates for asymmetric double gate MOSFET. The deviation of subthreshold swings has been investigated for parameters of Gaussian distribution function such as projected range and standard projected deviation in this paper. As a result, we know the subthreshold swing is greatly changed for doping profiles and bias voltage.
Electrical Characteristics of Ambipolar Thin Film Transistor Depending on Gate Insulators

To observe the tunneling phenomenon of oxide semiconductor transistor, The Indium-gallum-zinc-oxide thin film transistors deposited on SiOC as a gate insulator was prepared. The interface characteristics between a dielectric and channel were changed in according to the properties of SiOC dielectric materials. The transfer characteristics of a drain-source current (
) and gate-source voltage (
) showed the ambipolar or unipolar features according to the Schottky or Ohmic contacts. The ambipolar transfer characteristics was obtained at a transistor with Schottky contact in a range of
bias voltage. However, the unipolar transfer characteristics was shown in a transistor with Ohmic contact by the electron trapping conduction. Moreover, it was improved the on/off switching in a ambipolar transistor by the tunneling phenomenon.
Start-up Voltage Generator for 250mV Input Boost Converters

This paper proposes a start-up voltage generator for reducing the minimum input supply voltage of DC-DC boost converters to 250mV. The proposed start-up voltage generator boosts 250mV input voltage to over 500mV to charge the capacitor for starting the boost converter. After the boost converter operates initially with the supply voltage charged in the capacitor, it uses its boosted output voltage for the supply voltage. Therefore, after the start-up operation, the proposed DC-DC boost converter works as the same as the conventional one. The proposed start-up voltage generator reduces the threshold voltage of the transistors by adjusting the body voltage at a low input voltage. This causes the higher clock frequency and the larger current to a Dickson charge-pump for boosting the input voltage. The proposed start-up voltage generator was implemented with a
CMOS process. Its clock frequency and output voltage were 34.5kHz and 522mV at 250mV input voltage, respectively.
Gaze Tracking Using a Modified Starburst Algorithm and Homography Normalization

In this paper, an accurate remote gaze tracking method with two cameras is presented using a modified Starburst algorithm and honography normalization. Starburst algorithm, which was originally developed for head-mounted systems, often fails in detecting accurate pupil centers in remote tracking systems with a larger field of view due to lots of noises. A region of interest area for pupil is found using template matching, and then only within this area Starburst algorithm is applied to yield pupil boundary candidate points. These are used in improved RANSAC ellipse fitting to produce the pupil center. For gaze estimation robust to head movement, an improved homography normalization using four LEDs and calibration based on high order polynomials is proposed. Finally, it is shown that accuracy and robustness of the system is improved using two cameras rather than one camera.
Robust Eye Region Discrimination and Eye Tracking to the Environmental Changes

The eye-tracking [ET] is used on the human computer interaction [HCI] analysing the movement status as well as finding the gaze direction of the eye by tracking pupil's movement on a human face. Nowadays, the ET is widely used not only in market analysis by taking advantage of pupil tracking, but also in grasping intention, and there have been lots of researches on the ET. Although the vision based ET is known as convenient in application point of view, however, not robust in changing environment such as illumination, geometrical rotation, occlusion and scale changes. This paper proposes two steps in the ET, at first, face and eye regions are discriminated by Haar classifier on the face, and then the pupils from the discriminated eye regions are tracked by CAMShift as well as Template matching. We proved the usefulness of the proposed algorithm by lots of real experiments in changing environment such as illumination as well as rotation and scale changes.
Implementation of Parallel Computer Generated Hologram Using Multi-GPGPU

Computer-generated hologram (CGH) is to mathematically model optical phenomenon with digital computer. Because it requires huge amount of computational power, a fast and high performance technique is needed. In this paper, we proposed two parallelizations for CGH calculation. The first is to parallelize CGH algorithm in a GPU (general processing unit) and the second is to parallelize multiple GPUs. The proposed algorithm was implemented in GTX780 Ti GPU. It calculates a
hologram with 10K object points for about 24ms.
Effective MCTF based on Correlation Improvement of Motion Vector Field

This paper presents an effective motion estimation to improve the performance of the motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) which is a core part of the wavelet-based scalable video coding. The proposed scheme makes the motion vector field uniform by the modified median operation and the search strategies using adjacent motion vectors, in order to enhance the pixel connectivity which is significantly relevant to the performance of the MCTF. Moreover, the motion estimation with variable block sizes that reflects the features of frames is introduced for further correlation improvement of the motion vector field. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed method reduces the decomposed energy on the temporal high frequency subband frame up to 30.33% in terms of variance compared to the case of the full search with fixed block sizes.
An Implementation of Car Navigation System using NFC

One of problems in car navigation systems is that a number of inputs are required for a directions search. This may even causes a car accident due to poor concentration while driving. In order to solve the issue we design and implement a safe and easy-to-use car navigation system which allows a driver to look up directions with just a single tap. Our smartphone app creates an NFC tag by deriving location information from a text, voice, GPS, and so on. The driver can then get the directions by just tapping a phone or card with the Tag on the navigation system. We show the feasibility and effectiveness of our system by comparing our implementation with the existing car navigation systems.

Retail stores are mostly relying their product management on handwriting. This handwriting management is limited and poor at managing the status of stocking and releasing. Also, to confirm real-time product status, additional statistic system is required. POS system developed to overcome foresaid problems is operating only in big and special stores because of expensive price and limited space. Therefore, new automated management system which has low installation price needs to be developed and adopted instead of handwriting management system. In this paper, we developed real-time product management system which can manage the products in retail stores by utilizing NFC function in mobile device.

Recently it has become easier to figure out cargo positional information by using GPS(Global Positioning System) and wireless communication technology. The acceleration of globalization in the shipping logistics is ever more increasing the need to provide visibility, traceability and real time informations of entry, departure of vessel including cargo and status of logistic vehicle entry into each logistic base. Providing such positional information to logistics party by using wireless communication technology can bring effective operation of supply chain and reduction in logistics costs. In the previous paper, I suggested a global location tracking system based on GPS data in global shipping logistics by means of software using GPS data. However, the previous system had a problem of being inadequate to figure out a real time location movement information and was unsatisfactory on quickly searching and checking the location of global logistics hubs according to the longitude and latitude coordinates. Hence, in this paper, I suggest a real-time location tracking system that provided real-time location of the container cargos and logistics hubs can be searched quickly according to the GPS coordinates in global shipping logistics.
Stable Message Transmission Protocol Considering Remaining Energy of Nodes on Wireless Networks

In multi-hop wireless networks, a message transmission path is set up on demand by a route discovery step, where a shortest path is used in general. The shortest path, however, normally uses the nodes near the center area, which causes a high traffic load in that area and reduces the message transmission reliability. We propose a stable routing protocol considering the remaining energy of nodes. Our protocol uses ETX as a link performance estimator and tries to avoid the nodes with smaller energy. By doing this, we can reduce the route failure probability and packet loss. We have evaluated the performance of the proposed protocol using QualNet and compared with AODV and MRFR protocols. The simulation result shows that our protocol has a similar performance as MRFR in terms of end-to-end message reception ratio, average message delay and delay jitter, but outperforms MRFR in terms of traffic load distribution.

Because Twitter provides an easy way to reweet and reply to other user's tweets, it is used to delivery our opinion to others and get useful information from followers as a useful tool. Recently, there have been many attempts to use Twitter in many application area. Especially, Twitter has been tried to use in education area. Twitter service can be used in educational environments as a communication tool between professor and students and among students without restriction on space and time. Twitter service has good possibility of applying, but there have not been many studies that prove the effectiveness and possibility of the tool as a useful educational tool through experimental studies. In this study, Twitter is used as a tool of the question-and- answer session of the university students during a semester. And the activities are investigated and analyzed. As the results of the analysis, if we do not force the use of Twitter, Twitter utilization of students is low. Thus, we show that Twitter has the potential for educational utilizing, but the aggressive efforts between professor and students are needed to show such effects.

Recently, diffusion and proliferation of mobile devices increases, per person n opens for the mobile device era. Mobile devices and OS types of continuously growing trend. More than 80% of market share with Google's Android and Apple's iOS as well as Samsung and Intel is developing TIZEN, Linux and Mobile was the UBUNTU which UBUNTU for Phone, UBUNTU touch, Mozilla 's Firefox OS, Microsoft 's windows mobile and many more OS are ahead of the launch. The functions of playing musics and multimedia have become essential in one device as a smart phone since the smart phone appeared. It is very convenient, but it contains controversial arguments about sound quality, so many smart phone users use the music player application. By using these music applications, people start to think about the relationship between music playing and sound quality. However, those applications are not perfect, so it is hard to choose a good application. This thesis is about the advantages of the sound quality of music player applications that are currently sold in Android Market through RightMark Audio Analyzer program, and plans to suggest android music player application system design by analyzing applications by covering disadvantages of these applications.
A Study on Detection Probability Reduction of LPI Radar's Platform

In General, LPI radar's detection probability by ES equipments is lower than that of conventional pulsed radar because of very low transmitting power and high antenna gain etc. LPI radar is a kind of RF stealth technique such as RCS reduction design. Therefore the ultimate goal of LPI radar is detection probability reduction by opponent. If one of the two, RCS value or LPI radar performance is not sufficient, own platform will be found first by opponent. In this paper, some considerations are suggested for detection probability reduction.
