Currently information related service such as internet banking, chatting, social network services are quite well smeared into our daily life. Moreover, a rapid growth of service using smart devices brought an importance of security in internet services and a research activation of digital forensic in a crime investigation. This paper presented a previous digital forensic research trend and based on this, suggested a technology-strategy integrated digital forensic process platform, taking a mid-long term government leading ICT R&D strategy and ICT paradigm shift into account.
Development of the EM wave Absorber for Improving the Performance of Hi-Pass System in ITS

High-Pass (ETC ; Electronic Toll Collection) system is one of the basic elements, which adopts a wireless communication method using 5.8 GHz and can realize a part of ITS (Intelligent Traffic System). On the other hand, communication errors occur frequently in Hi-Pass system due to signal erros, multi-path reflection, and/or system-to-system interferences. To solve these problems, an EM (Electro-Magnetic) wave absorber can be used. To solve these Problems, we fabricated some samples in the different composition ratios of Carbon, Sendust, and CPE, and it was confirmed that the optimum composition ratio of Carbon : Sendust : CPE is 10 : 40 : 50 wt.%. The complex relative permittivity and complex relative permeability were derived by using the measured data. In addition, the optimum design parameters for the absorber were determined by simulation. Then the absorption abilities were calculated by changing the thickness of the EM wave absorbers. As a result, the optimum thickness of the developed EM wave absorber was 2.85 mm with absorption ability over 22.4 dB at 5.8 GHz. Futhermore, the EM wave absorber was fabricated based on the simulated and designed values. The measured values agreed well with the simulated ones. Therefore, it was clearly shown that the developed EM wave absorber in this paper is to be applied in actual situations.
Performance Analysis of M-ary APSK Modulation Method in the Presence of Phase Noise

Based on the simulation model for phase noise effect, the phase noise performance of communication system using the M-ary APSK modulation method is analyzed in this paper. The phase noise effects for APSK higher order modulation method are modeled by considering the signal constellations of the modulation methods. The simulation model is verified by comparing the analytic results for lower order modulation signals with simulated results for those modulation signals. Based on the simulation model, then, the phase noise effects for M-ary APSK are analyzed. The simulated results for PSK lower order modulation signals are in agreement with the results by the analytic model in the order of 1 %. The proper phase noise effects for M-ary APSK modulation signals are deduced by the simulation model. Also, the required signal-to-noise ratios of phase noise are proposed for phase noise degradations, which are used as the design parameter that considers the phase noise effect.
An Advanced Scheme for Searching Spatial Objects and Identifying Hidden Objects

In this paper, a new method of spatial query, which is called Surround Search (SuSe) is suggested. This method makes it possible to search for the closest spatial object of interest to the user from a query point. SuSe is differentiated from the existing spatial object query schemes, because it locates the closest spatial object of interest around the query point. While SuSe searches the surroundings, the spatial object is saved on an R-tree, and MINDIST, the distance between the query location and objects, is measured by considering an angle that the existing spatial object query methods have not previously considered. The angle between targeted-search objects is found from a query point that is hidden behind another object in order to distinguish hidden objects from them. The distinct feature of this proposed scheme is that it can search the faraway or hidden objects, in contrast to the existing method. SuSe is able to search for spatial objects more precisely, and users can be confident that this scheme will have superior performance to its predecessor.

In this research, we describe teaching based sweeping control for grinder robot has been proposed as a system which is suitable to work utilizing pressure sensitive alternative to human. Teaching method is used for grinder robots operations because of their position accuracy, path accuracy, and machining reaction force. A grinder robot for two-dimensional iron plate was developed on the basis of an force sensor based teaching method. An automatic-path-generation method and experimental results using specific points was adopted to reduce the number of teaching points and time. And also, in order to determine the proper machining conditions, various machining conditions such as grinder-wheel rotation speed and robot moving speed, were evaluated.
PVC Classification by Personalized Abnormal Signal Detection and QRS Pattern Variability

Premature ventricular contraction(PVC) is the most common disease among arrhythmia and it may cause serious situations such as ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. Nevertheless personalized difference of ECG signal exist, performance degradation occurs because of carrying out diagnosis by general classification rule. In other words, the design of algorithm that exactly detects abnormal signal and classifies PVC by analyzing the persons`s physical condition and/or environment and variable QRS pattern is needed. Thus, PVC classification by personalized abnormal signal detection and QRS pattern variability is presented in this paper. For this purpose, we detected R wave through the preprocessing method and subtractive operation method and selected abnormal signal sets. Also, we classified PVC in realtime through QS interval and R wave amplitude. The performance of abnormal beat detection and PVC classification is evaluated by using MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. The achieved scores indicate the average of 98.33% in abnormal beat classification error and 94.46% in PVC classification.
Fixed Indoor-BS Selection Based Self-Healing in Indoor Wireless Communication System

In order to resolve coverage hole problems caused by indoor-BS (IBS) faults, we propose a new frame structure and practical algorithm based on optimization technique. Our main contributions can be described as follows: 1) a frame structure with healing channels for solving abnormal IBS faults; and 2) an efficient heuristic resource allocation algorithm with fixed IBS selection to reduce the complexity for the optimization problem. Through intensive simulations, we evaluate the performance excellency of our proposed algorithm with respect to average cell capacity and user fairness compared with conventional algorithms.
Advertisement Coverage Analysis of Social Commerce Service with D2D Communications

In this paper, we propose cost-effective device-to-device (D2D) advertisement scenario with properties of proximity and timeliness through the convergence of D2D communications and social commerce service. We numerically analyze advertisement dissemination effect of the proposed scenario according to the number of sectors, and demonstrate the performance of the normalized D2D coverage, the average number of D2D users, and the average D2D coverage per user via intensive simulations. We verify the accuracy of the results for our numerical analysis compared with the simulation results.
A Compressed Sensing-Based Signal Detection Technique for Generalized Space Shift Keying Systems

In this paper, we propose a signal detection technique based on the parallel orthogonal matching pursuit (POMP) is proposed for generalized shift space keying (GSSK) systems, which is a modified version of the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) that is widely used as a greedy algorithm for sparse signal recovery. The signal recovery problem in the GSSK systems is similar to that in the compressed sensing (CS). In the proposed POMP technique, multiple indexes which have the maximum correlation between the received signal and the channel matrix are selected at the first iteration, while a single index is selected in the OMP algorithm. Finally, the index yielding the minimum residual between the received signal and the M recovered signals is selected as an estimate of the original transmitted signal. POMP with Quantization (POMP-Q) is also proposed, which combines the POMP technique with the signal quantization at each iteration. The proposed POMP technique induces the computational complexity M times, compared with the OMP, but the performance of the signal recovery significantly outperform the conventional OMP algorithm.
Performance Improvement of Efficient Routing Protocol Based on Small End-to-End Sequence Numbers

In networking communication, nodes and base station send data to each nodes and destination nodes. In this perspective, it is very important to determine the direction in which data sent to each nodes or destination nodes. Ad-hoc routing protocol is a standard routing protocol that determines how the packets sent to destination. Ad-hoc routing protocol includes protocols such as Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR). In our efficient proposed protocol based on small end-to-end sequence numbers, route direction can be changed properly with the assistance of helper nodes. In this paper, we focus on the simulation analysis of proposed protocol and comparison with other routing protocol models such as AODV and DSR. We simulated using Network Simulator (NS-2) by parameters such as simulation time, number of nodes and packet size based on our metrics (packet delivery fraction, routing load, data throughput). Our proposed protocol based on small end-to-end sequence numbers shows better performance and superior to other two protocols.
Development of a Wireless Video Transmitter for Automobile Camera System based on the Binary-CDMA Technology

Binary CDMA is a new standard technology for wireless communication developed by our country that makes high speed communications and good quality of services for multimedia data such as voice and video. In this paper we researched the design and implementation of a wireless Video Transmitter and Video Server - the main devices for the Automobile Wireless Camera System - based on the Binary-CDMA technology that makes them freely installed in any place without wired cables restriction.
Implementation of a Viterbi decoder operated in 4 Dimensional PAM-5 Signal of 1000Base-T

The LAN method is the most widely used in domestic high-speed internet access and rapidly moving to 1 Gbps Ethernet from 100 Mbps one to provide high-speed services such as UHD TV. The 1000BASE-T PHY with 4 pairs UTP transmits a PAM-5 signal at the 125 MHz clock per each pair to achieve 1 Gbps rate. In order to correct errors over the channel, the transmitter uses a TCM which is combined the convolutional encoder and PAM-5, and the receiver uses the Viterbi decoder. In this paper, we implement a Viterbi decoder which can correct two pair errors and operate at the least 125 MHz clock speed. Finally, we will verify the error correction function and the operating speed of the implemented decoder with a logic analyzer.
A Study on MAC Protocol with Dynamic Priority Adjustment in WBAN

To support the WBAN, IEEE 802.15 Task Group 6 announced standardized documents on technical requirements of the PHY and MAC. In the IEEE 802.15.6 MAC protocol, CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) algorithm is performed based on the eight-level priorities according to the type of traffics of the periodic data from medical sensor nodes. Several nodes, which detected the changed bio signals, transmit emergency data at the same time, so latency could be higher than emergency latency and energy consumption will increase. In this thesis, we proposed a CSMA/CA algorithm in WBAN to solve these problems. Simulations are performed using a Castalia based on the OMNeT++ network simulation framework to estimate the performance of the proposed superframe and algorithms. Performance evaluation results show that the packet transmission success rate and energy efficiency are improved by reducing the probability of collision using the proposed MAC protocol.
Congestion Control Scheme for Efficient Multimedia Transmission in Broadband Wireless Networks

TCP does not ensure the bandwidth and delay bound required for multimedia streaming services in broadband wireless network environments. In this paper, we propose a new congestion control scheme for efficient multimedia transmission, called COLO TCP (Concave Increase Slow Start Logarithmic Increase Congestion Avoidance TCP). The COLO TCP prevents the burst packet loss by applying the concave increase algorithm in slow start phase. In the congestion avoidance phase, COLO TCP uses the logarithmic increase algorithm that quickly recovers congestion window after packet loss. To highly utilize network bandwidth and reduce packet loss ratio, COLO TCP uses additive increase algorithm and adaptive decrease algorithm. Through simulation results, we prove that our COLO TCP is more robust for random loss. It is also possible for efficient multimedia transmission.
Hibernation Structure Design of Wireless USB over IEEE 802.15.6 Hierarchical MAC Protocol

Wearable computer systems can use the wireless universal serial bus (WUSB) that refers to USB technology that is merged with WiMedia PHY/MAC technical specifications. In this paper, we focus on an integrated system of the wireless USB over the IEEE 802.15.6 wireless body area networks (WBAN) for wireless wearable computer systems supporting U-health services. And a communication structure that performs the hibernation for low power consumption is proposed for WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6 hierarchical protocol. In the proposed hibernation mechanisms, WUSB communications are permitted at each m-periodic inactive periods of WBAN superframes by using the WBAN information of Wakeup Period and Wakeup Phase message fields. In our performance evaluations, performances according to amount of WUSB traffic and Wakeup Periods are analyzed respectively to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed hibernation structure in WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6.
Design of Time Synchronization Mechanism of Wireless USB over IEEE 802.15.6

Wearable computer systems can use the wireless universal serial bus (WUSB) that refers to USB technology that is merged with WiMedia PHY/MAC technical specifications. In this paper, we focus on an integrated system of the wireless USB over the IEEE 802.15.6 wireless body area networks (WBAN) for wireless wearable computer systems supporting U-health services. And a communication structure that performs the time-synchronization is proposed for WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6 hierarchical protocol. Proposed time-synchronization mechanisms adopt the WBAN Polling Access and combine it with a time-synchronization middleware using time stamps. In our performance evaluations, time-synchronization performances with only WBAN Polling Access scheme are analyzed first. After that, performances combined with the time-synchronization middleware are analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of proposed time-synchronization structure in WUSB over IEEE 802.15.6.
Design and Implementation of Personalized News Recommendation System Considering User Reading Habit under Smartphone Environment

In this paper, we propose a news article recommendation system that reflects users` areas of interest and reading habits. Users can select interesting subject then our proposed system displays interesting articles above the other articles. Also the proposed system reflects users` dynamic interests using analyse of user`s reading habits. The method of dynamic interest applies the different weight values from users simply clicking and reading entire articles. When users read articles from specific areas, the prosed system increases the weight of these specific areas using XML structure information. Hence users can read their articles of interest with ease.

Mobile RFID system, that consists of the existing RFID reader mounted on the mobile devices such as smartphones, is able to provide the users a variety of services and convenience. But security of mobile RFID system is too weak like the existing RFID system. In this paper, the mobile RFID mutual authentication protocol with high level of security is proposed to overcome the troubles such as cryptographic protocols in the existing RFID system responding with the same value in every authentication procedure and the exposure in the exchange of messages. The proposed protocol exchanges messages unexposed by using the random numbers generated in the mutual authentication between the tag and the reader and making numbers coded with the symmetric key. Besides, the protocol uses the mutual authentication utilizing OTP by considering the characteristics of the reader embedded in mobile devices in the mutual authentication process between the reader and the server. Because changed message in every authentication, which produces safe from spoofing attacks and replay attacks, etc.
Social Context-aware Recommendation System: a Case Study on MyMovieHistory

Social networking services (in short, SNS) allow users to share their own data with family, friends, and communities. Since there are many kinds of information that has been uploaded and shared through the SNS, the amount of information on the SNS keeps increasing exponentially. Particularly, Facebook has adopted some interesting features related to entertainment (e.g., movie, music and TV show). However, they do not consider contextual information of users for recommendation (e.g., time, location, and social contexts). Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel approach for movie recommendation based on the integration of a variety contextual information (i.e., when the users watched the movies, where the users watched the movies, and who watched the movie with them). Thus, we developed a Facebook application (called MyMovieHistory) for recording the movie history of users and recommending relevant movies.
77 GHz Waveguide VCO for Anti-collision Radar Applications

In this work, we demonstrated a 77 GHz waveguide VCO with transition from WR-12 to WR-10 for anti-collision radar applications. The fabricated waveguide VCO consists of a GaAs-based Gunn diode, a varactor diode, a waveguide transition, and two bias posts for operating as a LPF and a resonator. The cavity is designed for fundamental mode at 38.5 GHz and operated at second hormonic of 77 GHz. The waveguide transition has a 1.86 dB of insertion loss and -30.22 dB of S11 at the center frequency of 77 GHz. The fabricated VCO achieves an oscillation bandwidth of 870 MHz. Output power is from 12.0 to 13.75 dBm and phase noise is -100.78 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency from the carrier.

Channel-Divided Distributed Video Coding with Weighted-Adaptive Motion-Compensated Interpolation

Recently, lots of research works have been actively focused on the DVC (Distributed Video Coding) techniques which provide a theoretical basis for the implementation of light video encoder. However, most of these studies have showed poorer performances than the conventional standard video coding schemes such as MPEG-1/2, MPEG-4, H.264 etc. In order to overcome the performance limits of the conventional approaches, several channel-divided distributed video coding schemes have been designed in such a way that some information are obtained while generating side information at decoder side and then these are provided to the encoder side, resulting in channel-divided video coding scheme. In this paper, the interpolation scheme by weighted sum of multiple motion-compensated interpolation frames is introduced and a new channel-divided DVC scheme is designed to effectively describe noisy channels based on the motion vector and its matching characteristics. Through several simulations, it is shown that the proposed method performs better than the conventional methods at low bit-rate and keeps the reconstructed visual quality constantly.
Simulation of Radiation Imaging based on the Scanning of Pin-hole Stereo Vision Sensors

There are always much concern about the leakage of radiation materials in the event of dismantle or unexpected accident of nuclear power plant. In order to remove the leakage of radiation materials, appropriate dispersion detection techniques for radiation materials are necessary. However, because direct handling of radiation materials is highly restricted and risky, developing radiation-related techniques needs computer simulation in advance to evaluate the feasibility. In this paper, we propose a radiation imaging technique which can acquire 3D dispersion information of radiation materials and tested by simulation. Using two virtual 1D radiation sensors, we obtain stereo radiation images and acquire the 3D depth to virtual radiation materials using stereo disparity. For point and plane type virtual radiation materials, the possibility of the acquisition of stereo radiation image and 3D information are simulated.

The visual quality of medical image is an important factor for diagnosis accuracy. Therefore, the methods to improve the quality of medical image have studied. Among them, frequency domain filter is very powerful method to impove the visual quality of image. In this paper, the X-ray medical image using optimized high-pass filter was improved edges. The result image was improved edge and contrast of flat area using optimized high frequency emphasis filter. At last, the result image is to minimize the noise using the minimum mean square error(MMSE) filter. As a result, the proposed method has enhanced contrast and edge of the image in the contrast of existing filters, with the noise canceling effect.

In this paper, a new scheme to recognize a finger shape in the depth image captured by Kinect is proposed. Rigid transformation of an input finger shape is pre-processed for its robustness against the shape angle of input fingers. After extracting contour map from hand region, observing the change of contour pixel location is performed to calculate rotational compensation angle. For the finger shape recognition, we first acquire three pixel points, the most left, right, and top located pixel points. In the proposed algorithm, we first acquire three pixel points, the most left, right, and top located pixel points for the finger shape recognition, also we use geometrical features of human fingers such as Euclidean distance, the angle of the finger and the pixel area of hand region between each pixel points to recognize the finger shape. Through experimental results, we show that the proposed algorithm performs better than old schemes.
Design and Implementation of Remote Control System for Car Navigation

Manipulating a car navigation system while driving can lead to car accident due to loss of concentration. This will be more serious for elders or beginner drivers. Recently, a new Road Traffic Law in Korea prohibits drivers from watching or operating any video displaying devices. So the car navigation system came hard to use. In order to solve the issue we design and implement a novel system where a remote person can control the car navigation system on behalf of the driver. In the proposed system, we suggest to utilize the driver`s smartphone for allowing sharing the Internet connection of the phone with the navigation system. The required smartphone application and the server will also be designed and implemented.

The unused Worst-Case Execution Time (WCET) allocated to a real-time task occurs when the actual execution time of the task can be far less than the WCET preassigned to the task for a schedulability test. Any unused WCET allocated to the task can be exploited to reduce the power consumption of battery-powered sensor nodes through real-time power-aware scheduling techniques. From the distribution perspective of the unused WCET, the unused WCET distribution policy is classified into three types: Conservative Unused WCET (CU-WCET), Moderate Unused WCET (MU-WCET), and Aggressive Unused WCET (AU-WCET) distribution policies. We evaluated the performance of real-time power-aware scheduling techniques incorporating each of three unused WCET distribution policies in terms of low power consumption.

RFID technology has evolved from basic operation like the acquisition of tag IDs into a more complicated operation such as the simultaneous acquisition of tag IDs and their positions and recently, is raising the possibility of obtaining additional informations, which include their velocities, directions and distances. In this paper, we present a RFID system that can fullfil aforementioned advanced functions. In the proposed system, a tag transmits a sequence of FMCW pulses modulated by ID signals and a reader separates the tag signals in azimuth direction using an array antenna, followed by the FMCW demodulation from which distances, velocities as well as the tag IDs are extracted. We propose a receiver structure of the reader and theoretically analyze its operability. Moreover, its performance is examined by simulation.

The sensor network technology for core technology of ubiquitous computing is in the spotlight recently, the research on sensor network is proceeding actively which is composed many different sensor node. The major traffic patterns of plenty of sensor networks are composed of collecting types of single directional data, which is transmitting packets from several sensor nodes to sink node. One of the important condition for design of sensor node is to extend for network life which is to minimize power-consumption under the limited resources of sensor network. In this paper analysis used routing protocols using the network simulation that was used second level cluster structure to reduce delay and power-consumption of sensor node.

In this paper, an intelligent home network middleware interconnection adapter between devices was designed. Home network middleware interconnection adaptor is present in UPnP, LonWorks, LnCP, HAVi, etc. Various types of middleware and for use of a number of middleware is required to modify an existing system. But this study designed by middleware interconnection adaptor a number of existing middleware systems without modification was designed to allow interlocking. The Performance evaluation of designed interconnection middleware adaptor produced by various companies was used devices, experimental device was implemented. And mobile application was developed by using developed interconnection middleware adaptor. Also the performance was evaluated in a mobile application.

Currently, with the rapid development of the digital age, multimedia-related image devices become popular. However, images are susceptible to corruption in processing image data due to the impulse noise and active researches have been conducted to restore these images. This paper, in order to restore the damaged images in impulse noise environments, suggested an image restoration algorithm which applies weights depending on spatial distance between directionality and pixel by focusing on damaged pixels. Additionally, this algorithm was compared with existing methods by using the PSNR (peak signal to noise ratio) as the objective standard to judge whether there were improved effects.

This paper focuses on listening test and acoustic analysis of patients` speech with velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) and normal speakers` simulation speech. In this research, a set consisting of 50-words, vowels and single syllables is determined for speech database construction. A web-based listening evaluation system is developed for a convenient/automated evaluation procedure. The analysis results show the trend of incorrect recognition for VPI speech and the one for simulation speech are similar. Such similarity is also confirmed by comparing the formant locations of vowel and spectrum of consonant sounds. These results show that the simulation method for VPI speech is effective at generating the speech signals similar to actual VPI patient`s speech. It is expected that the simulation speech data can be effectively employed for our future work such as acoustic model adaptation.
Multi-Label Combination for Prediction of Protein Subcellular Localization

Knowledge about protein subcellular localization provides important information about protein function. This paper improves a label power-set multi-label classification for the accurate prediction of subcellular localization of proteins which simultaneously exist at multiple subcellular locations. Among multi-label classification methods, label power-set method can effectively model the correlation between subcellular locations of proteins performing certain biological function. With constrained optimization, this paper calculates combination weights which are used in the linear combination representation of a multi-label by other multi-labels. Using these weights, the prediction probabilities of multi-labels are combined to give final prediction results. Experimental results on human protein dataset show that the proposed method achieves higher performance than other prediction methods for protein subcellular localization. This shows that the proposed method can successfully enrich the prediction probability of multi-labels by exploiting the overlapping information between multi-labels.
Long haul transmission link using a optimized circulating loop for optical wavelength division multiplexing signals

Optical wavelength division multiplexing signals of eight non-return-to-zero 10 Gb/s channels were transmitted on the long-haul link up to 720 km. The link span was composed of 80 km single mode fiber, dispersion compensation fiber for complete compensation, and EDFAs. A circulating loop method was applied to the link experiment and the loop was optimized for the transmission link. Wavelength-dependent gain variation of EDFA was compensated using EDFAs of opposite gain slopes without expensive gain flattening filters. Average OSNR was aggravated to 22 dB and the worst OSNR channel variation was 9.7 dB after the transmission. It was confirmed by analyzing optical spectra that this OSNR variation was mainly caused by the hole burning effect of EDFA.

A Parametric Study of Pulsed Gamma-ray Detectors Based on Si Epi-Wafer

In this paper, we designed and fabricated a high-speed semiconductor sensor for use in power control devices and analyzed the characteristics with pulsed radiation tests. At first, radiation sensitive circular Si PIN diodes with various diameters(0.1 mm ~5.0 mm) were designed and fabricated using Si epitaxial wafer, which has a
thick intrinsic layer. The reverse leakage current of the diode with a radius of 2 mm at a reverse bias of 30 V was about 20.4 nA. To investigate the characteristic responses of the developed diodes, the pulsed gamma-radiation tests were performed with the intensity of 4.88E8 rad(Si)/sec. From the test results showing that the output currents and the rising speeds have a linear relationship with the area of the sensors, we decided that the optimal condition took place at a 2 mm diameter. Next, for the selected 2 mm diodes, dose rate tests with a range of 2.47E8 rad(Si)/sec to 6.21E8 rad(Si)/sec were performed. From the results, which showed linear characteristics with the radiation intensity, a large amount of photocurrent over 60mA, and a high speed response under 350ns without saturation, we can conclude that the our developed PIN diode can be a good candidate for the sensor of power control devices.
