A Study on the Individual Recognition with Skull Image Composition

In this paper, a new superimposition scheme using a computer vision system was proposed with 7 pairs of skull and ante-mortem photographs, which were already identified through other tests and DNA fingerprints at the Korea National Institute of Scientific Investigation. At this computer vision system, an unidentified skull was caught by video-camcoder with the MPEG and a ante-mortem photograph was scanned by scanner. These two images were processed and superimposed using pixel processing. Recognition of the individual identification by anatomical references was performed on the two superimposed images. This image processing techniques for the superimposition of skull and ante-morterm photographs simplify used the previous approach taking skull photographs and developing it to the same size as the ante-mortem Photographs. This system using various image Processing techniques on computer screen, a more precise and time-saving superimposition technique could be able to be applied in the area of computer individual identification.
Noise Reduction and Characteristic Points Detectoin of ECG Signal using Wavelet Transforms

One of the main techniques for diagnosing heart disease is by examining the electrocardiogram(ECG). Many studies on detecting the QRS complex, p, and T waves have been performed because meaningful information is contained in these parameters. However, the earlier detecting techniques can not effectively extract those parameters from the ECG that is severely contaminated by noise source. In this paper, we performed the extracting parameters from and recovering the ECG signal using wavelets transform that has recently been applying to various fields.
Tracking Performance Improvement of Discrete Signal using Neural Networks and Self Tuning Controller

In this paper, Simulation result was studied by PID controller in series to the estblised neural networks controller. Neural network model is composed of two layers to evaluate tracking performance improvement. The regular dynamics was also studied for the expected error to be minimized by using Widrow-Hoff delta rule. As a result of the study, We identified that tracking performance improvement was developed more in case of connecting PID than conventional neural network controller and that tracking plant parameter in 251 sample was approached rapidly in case of time varying
Design of Class-II Partial-Response System above the Nyquist Rate

In this paper, we propose a novel spectral-chopping model of Class-II
-PRS system which reveals improved spectral efficiency. We build up the model having spectrum chopped by the amount of Nyquist over-rate, and then compare its characteristics with the conventional model in both the time-domain and the frequency-domain. When the transmission system operates above the Nyquist rate, the new model has better performance than the conventional PRS using its inherent speed-tolerance. According to our investigations, Class-II PRS shows more excellent effect in the spectral-chopping method than Class- I and W types analyzed previously. We ascertain that the over-rate of 26.675 obtained by the inherent speed-tolerance could be improved upto 40% using spectrum-truncation. These effects come from the fact that the raised-cosine spectrum of Class-II PRS has smaller Boss of frequency component and energy than any other types for the same amount of truncation. In order to validate these theoretical results, we present their sidelobe-trends confirming cancellation effects at the sampling instants and some experimental results showing their patterns of eye-openings and spectra.
In-water SONAR shell transmitter simulation using a coupled FE-BE method

This article describes the application of a coupled finite element-boundary element method to obtain the steady-state response of a sonar transducer. The particular structure considered is a flooded piezoelectric spherical shell. The sonar shell is simulated to be driven by electrical charges applied onto inner and outer surfaces of the shell. It is shown that at relatively low input frequency a beam pattern which is almost close to omnidirection can be obtained. The coupled FE-BE method is described in detail.
Performance Characteristics of Decision Feedback Equalizer Model by Feedback Running RLS algorithm for Mobile Communications

In the realization of a high speed digital transmission over several tens kbps in mobile communications, it follow delay distortion on a count of transmission path variation by multipath interference waves. Therefore it is inevitably necessary to establish the techniques overcoming the frequency selective fading. In this paper, a feedback running RLS algorithm which is improved the RLS algorithm using exponential weighting factor, is proposed for the control algorithm of DFE and by the computer simulation method, and the performance characteristics of DFE is analyzed for the one-ray and two-ray waves model under the random Gaussian noise. The computer simulation results of proposed RLS algorithm for the $\pi$/4QPSK signal with one symbol time delayed interference signal of S/I = 20［dB］, under the S/N = 10［dB］ with
= 0.9 showed excellent following characteristics and equalization characteristics.
A Soft Handoff Scheme to reduce the Call Failure Rate of CDMA Cellular Systems

Traffic nonuniformity degrades the performance of DCMA cellular systems. This paper presents a new algorithm called the Soft Handoff with Dynamic Thresholds (SHDT) which reduces the performance degeradation due traffic nonuniformity on CDMA systems. Unlike the conventional fixed handoff thresholds, algorithm allows the handoff thresholds (T_ADD and T_DROP) to vary dynamically according to the traffic density of each cell. This algerian has been implemented by means of computer simulation and the results show that SHDT improves the overall CDMA system performance in terms of outage probability. The SHDT algorithm can easily be applied to CDMA cellular systems without my modification.
Performance of call handling schemes for radio mobile exchange communication system applied by timeout Queue

In the wireless mobile exchange communication system, the proper handling of originating call(OC) and handover call(HC) is important. Specially, when it's viewed from the user side, mobile users feel more weighting soul disappointment with the handover blocking probability moving from current cell to adacent cell than with originating call blocking probability happening new call in current cell. Accordingly,this paper is proposed and analyzed the timeout buffer system and guard channel for decreasing handover blocking probability. In analytic result, The more guard channel increase,t he more originating call blocking probability increase and handover blocking probability decrease. Also, the more timeout duration increase, the more handover blocking probability decrease.
Analysis on the Performance Characteristics of LMS & CMA Adaptive Array Antenna for
/4 QPSK Signal

In this Paper, the training principles and the control method of adaptive array antennas using the LMS and CMA algorithms for the
/4 QPSK signal is showed and the convergence characteristics, the adaptivity of directional pattern SINR and the replication of desired signal of adaptive arrays are compared and discussed each other. Computer simulation results showed that the SINR of LMS adaptive array was 13.8［dB］, and that of CMA was 12.8［dB］, and also the convergence characteristics of LMS was fast a little than that of CMA. The LMS adaptive array was also performed null point well for the interference signal direction than that of the CMA adaptive array.
Phasing Procedure with Automatic Identification in the ARQ mode of the NBDP

The 9-digit MMSI(Maritime Mobile Service Identity) in the NBDP is converted to the 7-digit identity signal, used to identify to the phase of and to synchronize to the clock of the ISS(Information Sending Station) automatically for phasing procedure between radio stations. In this paper, algorithms for the automatic identification phasing procedures and for conversions, calculations between 7-signals and 9-identity, those check-numbers in the phasing procedures for calling of the NBDP are discussed and designed. And a method of the faster locking and phasing for calling than that of recommended by ITU-R is suggested and implemented.
Design of a Large-Scale Multicast Server System

In the multicasting communications, the quality of service is not guaranteed occasionally, according to the shortage of resources, because all resources such as communication buffer, processing power for the packet multiplication, and bandwidth, should be shared among each members. This problem can be solved through the hierarchical multicaster construction mechanism which guarantees that all multicaster can be operated within the required performance. This paper proposes the architecture of multipoint communication server based on hypercube type massively parallel computer. Through the simulation, it is verified that the traffic of links between each node of hypercube computer is under the some bandwidth. So, it is certified that the hypercube computer is suitable for the multicast communication servers supporting the various groups.
A Study on Standardization Activities of Internet with ATM

Recently, growing Internet traffic have come to mandate the speed-up of Internet links. Also, emerging real-time services generally require QoS (Quality of Service) guarantees in networks. ATM is considered to be the most promising subnetwork technology to meet these requirements efficiently. In this paper, we first analyze recent protocol standardization activities in IETF and ATM Forum for integrating Internet with ATM. This includes brief reviews of protocols such as IETF's IP/ATM, NHRP, RSVP and IS/ATM, as well as ATM Forum's LAN Emulation and MPOA. We then identify two types of integration methodologies, and suggest a classification of the integration. Our work might be helpful to outlook better the future direction of standardization in this field.
Interference Signal Control using Neural Network in Digital Mobile Communication

In this paper, a back propagation neural network teaming algorithm based on the complex multilyer perceptron is represented for suppressing narrowband interference of the received signals in DS-SS mobile communication system. We proposed neural network adaptive correlator(NNAC) which has fast convergence rate and good performance with combining back propagation neural network and the receiver of DS-SS. We analyzed and proved that NNAC has lower bit error probability than that of traditional RAKE receiver through results of computer simulation in the presence of the tone and narrow-band interference and the co-channel interference.
Input-buffered Packet Switch with a Burst Head Addressable FIFO input buffering mechanism

As window sized increases, the throughput input-buffered packet switch with a window scheme improves on random traffic condition. However, the improvement diminishes quickly under bursty traffic. In this paper, we propose Burst Head Addressable FIFO mechanism and memory structure having search capability in unit of burst header to compensate the sensitiveness of the windowed scheme to bursty traffic. The performance of a input-buffered switch using the proposed Burst Header Addressable FIFO input buffer was analyzed using computer simulations. The maximum throughput of the conventional FIFO scheme approaches an asymptotic value 0.5 as mean burst length increases. The maximum throughput of the proposed scheme is greater than that of the conventional scheme for any mean burst length and window size.
ABR Service Provision in ATM-LAN Consisting of ATM Routers and Switches

We propose a structure for implementation to provide ABR service in ATM-LAN consisting of ATM routers and ATM switches. ATM routers are constructed by installing ATM interface block with ABR capability for this purpose. The structure for EFCI, the basic function in ATM switches to support ABR service, is also proposed. Finally the testing procedure after implementation is provided to verify the conformity of the implemented systems.
Design and Performance Evaluation of RS Codec for DTMF Modulation in Mobile Radio Channels

In this paper, RS coded DTMF modulation for reliable data transmission over mobile fading channels is considered. The circuits of (15,9) RS codec are proposed and synthesized, and the performances are evaluated over fading channels. The codec circuits take about 14000 gates standardized by 2-input NAMD gate. The (15,9) RS coded DTMF signalling provides theoretical coding gain more than 20 dB over fading channels for BER 10.6, the criterion for data transmissions in mobile communications such as IMT-2000. Thus, It is very effective to apply RS codec to DTMF signalling for data transmission in mobile communications over fading channels.
An Automatic Weight Measurement of Rope Using Computer Vision

Recently, the computer vision such as part measurement, and product inspection is very popular to achieve the factory automation since the labor cost is dramatically increasing. In this paper, the diameter and the length of rope are measured by CCD camera which is orthogonally mounted on the ceiling. Two parameters which are the diameter and the length of rope are used to measure the weight of rope. If the weight of rope is reached to predetermined weight, the information is transmitted to PLC(programmable logic control) to cut the rope on the wheel. The cutting machine cuts the rope according to the information obtained from the CCD camera. To measure the diameter and length of rope on real time, the searching space for image segmentation is restricted the predetermined area according to the camera calibration position. Finally, to estimate the weight of rope, the knowledge base system which depends on the diameter, the length of rope, and weight relation between these information are constructed according to diameters of rope. This method contributes to achieve the factory automation, and reduce the production cost since the operators are unnecessary to measure the weight of rope by try-and-error method.
Design of a Multi-Valued Arithmetic Processor with Encoder and Decoder

In this paper, an arithmetic processor using multi-valued logic is designed. For implementing of multi-valued logic circuits, we use current-mode CMOS circuits and design encoder which change binary voltage-mode signals to multi-valued current-mode signals and decoder which change results of arithmetic to binary voltage-mode signals. To reduce the number of partial product we use 4-radix SD number partial product generation algorithm that is an extension of the modified Booth's algorithm. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed arithmetic circuits through SPICE simulation and Hardware emulation using FPGA chip.

It involves exclusive economic zone, highly migrated species, marine mammals, anadromous stocks and high seas. in this paper, I analyze these issues, especially EEZ and high seas.
