Speed Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor using Limited Step Response Characteristics
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 295~302
In this paper, a new auto-tuning PI controller for the speed servo system of a PMSM is designed by using limited step response characteristics. The method is proposed that gets information about auto-tuning of PI regulator by the injection of step input, called limited input, during a transient response time of control. System parameter estimation and speed control could be continuously executed. This means that in despite of system uncertainty the system information obtained by limited input can be continuously applied to the PI regulator. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed auto-tuning algorithm through simulation and experiment result of the speed control for a PMSM having monotone increasing step response.

Development of GPS data recovery circuit using CPSO
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 317~323
A synchronization is important element not only wire communication but also wireless communication. Especially, In SS(Spread Spectrum) communication method used GPS(Global Positioning System) synchronization is more important. A synchronous oscillator(SO) is a network which synchronizes, tracks, filter, amplifies and divides (if necessary) in a single process. Without an input signal, the SO is a free-running oscillator, oscillating at a frequency
, but phase changes
within tracking range of SO. Therefore CPSO was used for this problem. The coherent phase synchronous oscillator(CPSO) is created by adding two external loops to the SO and has a wider tracking bandwidth and a zero-offset phase response (coherent) while maintaining the SO properties of high signal-to-rejection and fast frequency acquisition times. Therefore phase between input signal and output signal is synchronized. In this paper, GPS data recovery circuit has applied CPSO using front reference characters and has certified an excellent data recovery capability.

Areal-time implementation of CS-ACELP speech coder algorithm is achieved using 16 bit fixed-point DSP chip. To implement in fixed-point DSP Chip, integer simulation of CS-ACELP algorithm is used. Furthermore. input/output function and communication function included in CS-ACELP speech coder is described. We develope CS-ACELP speech coder in DSP evaluation board and evaluate in IMT-2000 Test-bed.
Design and Performance Evaluation of DGPS Based on Optimal and Sub-optimal Reference Point
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 343~352
The use of DGPS enhances standalone GPS accuracy and removes common errors from two or more receivers viewing the same satellites. The design of DGPS system contains a precise reference point which is able to compute the common errors to update the pseudo range of users receivers. It should take a great time and cost to provide precise and sufficient accuracy of the reference point. That is, it is natural to measure the parameters from satellites with specific survey instrument system, and then obtain that by post processing. The purpose of the study is to examine the bounds of accuracy which resulted from RTCM correction data transmitted from a simply designed DGPS system. In the paper, We design and evaluate the DGPS system based m the surveyed reference point, and Sub-optimal no by a Standalone GPS as well. As a result of the study, it is shown that the designed system may be applied to the specific marine activity in civilian and military.

Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 353~358
This paper presents development of a LNA operating at 1.71 ∼ 1.18 GHz used for a receiver of KOREA PCS base station and transponder. Using resistive decoupling circuits, a signal at low frequency is dissipated by a resistor. This design method increases the stability of the LNA and suitable for input stage matching. The LNA consists of low noise GaAs FET ATF-10136 and internally matched VNA-25. The LNA is fabricated with both the RF circuit and the self-bias circuits in aluminum housing. As a result, the characteristics of the LNA implemented here shows 30 dB in gain and 0.85 dB in noise figure.
A Study on the 900MHz FDD Tranceiver for the Vessel
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 359~365
The portable two way radio telephone amongst GMDSS equipment in the vessel is very important portable wireless one for search and rescue in distress situation. Although the portable two way radio telephone must be equipped with in the vessel by IMO & RR, other kinds of wireless tranceivers are widely used to communicate with crew members who are separately appointed at bridge forecastle and poop in leaving or arriving at the port, passing through a narrow canal or voyaging in the foggy weather, Most of those wireless tranceivers except portable two way radio telephone are allocated at 27MHz band with PTT simplex system that makes crew members difficult to work effectively in the vessel. In this research 900MHz band FDD(frequency duplex division) tranceiver system is studied to help crew members in the vessel to communicate with themselves freely and to work easily meanwhile with simple operation. 900MHz band FDD tranceiver system uses one chip FM frontend IC to realize the miniaturization and downsizing of tranceiver and small size head set attached to helmet. The credibility of this research's result is highly evaluated by circuit analysis with computer aided simulation, and partly modified 900MHz band cordless phone circuit.

Finally, in the Network Architecture we proposed the network infrastructure and services to increase the efficiency in resource management and processing capacity of network components such as router and switch, adopting the active networking approach.
Shared-medium Access Control Protocol for the ATM Access Network - Part I : DMR-II Protocol Architecture -
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 379~388
In this paper we propose a DMR-II shared-medium access control protocol which was developed for the ATM access network users to support isochronous and non-isochronous traffics simultaneously under the bandwidth sharing environment, and describe its architecture and operation principles. The DMR-II protocol uses the slotted-ring topology, and gives the higher transmission priority to the isochronous traffic than the non-isochronous traffic. To support the isochronous traffic it uses the slot reservation mechanism, and maintains the delay variation of the isochronous traffic beyond the threshold value by using the blocking mechanism whenever the total user traffic overflows the network's bandwidth limitation. for the non-isochronous traffic the DMR-II protocol lets all the nodes to have fair transmission chances by using the reset mechanism based on the window counter scheme.
Shared-medium Access Control Protocol for the ATM Access Network - Part II : Performance Analysis of the DMR-II Protocol -
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 389~399
The DMR-II shared-medium access control protocol was developed for the ATM access network users to supper the isochronous traffic and the non-isochronous traffic simultaneously under the bandwidth-skating environment. In this paper we analyze the performance of the DMR-II protocol by using both the analytical analysis and the simulation method. Under the ATM access network environment, the performance analysis result shows that the DMR-II protocol maintains the delay variation of the isochronous traffic beyond the threshold value, and satisfies the delay time criteria of the non-isochronous traffic by supporting the priority service. Moreover the result shows high network utilization over 130% due to the destination release mechanism of the DMR-II protocol.

Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 401~408
Recently there comes out various applications on real time control, audio/video conference, medical image and so on. These applications request certain Quality of Service(QoS) to their underlying communication subsystem. In these cases those communication subsystems should provide real time communication service on their QoS request as well as good performance to maintain best effort traffic. In this paper firstly we briefly look over bandwidth, traffic parameters on point to point network secondly we analyze on real time channel and propose design factors in real time channel protocol for multimedia applications.
A Study on TMN Test System Architecture
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 409~416
TMN(Telecommunication Management Network) provides underlying structure to transfer, store and processing management information which are necessary for Telecommunication network and service management. The application of TMN is widely applicable to Analogue telecommunication network Public and private network switching system, Transmission system, Telecommunication related software and logical telecommunication network resource management and others. This paper consider TMN as one System Under Test(SW), and propose a new TMN test architecture, besides existing simulation based test method, which is able to test, on the basis of standardized testing procedure and testing method, directly with test system. There are several fields in protocol testing and one of them is protocol conformance testing which is defined in ISO/IEC 9646 series and it has twin document as ITU X.290 series. To apply this standardized procedure on TMN testing it is prerequisite to devise a new TMN testing architecture and set up testing procedures according to the new architecture.
Design of a Home ATM Network Protocol : Comparisons based on topologies
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 417~429
The advance of the MPEG (Moving Picture Expert Group) and the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technologies lead the emergence of the information appliances, which are gradually digitalized and embedded the high-speed networking function. However, there are some difficulties in establishing any one specific model, since standardization of the scale and function of home ATM network is being progressed by standardization organizations and no absolute model has been defined. This paper consider topologies for a home ATM network, such a star-type, tree-type, and mesh-type topology, by comparing the structure, functional characteristics and performance. From this analysis we suggest the design method of the home ATM network.
Time Dependence of Charge Generation and Breakdown of Re-oxidized Nitrided Oxide
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 431~437
In this paper, we have investigated the electrical properties of ultra-thin nitrided oxide(NO) and re-oxidized nitrided oxide(ONO) films that are considered to be promising candidates for replacing conventional silicon dioxide film in ULSI level integration. Especially, we have studied a variation of I-V characteristics, gate voltage shift, and time-dependent dielectric breakdown(TDDB) of thin layer NO and ONO film depending on nitridation and reoxidation time, respectively, and measured a variation of leakage current and charge-to-breakdown(Q
) of optimized NO and ONO film depending on ambient temperature, and then compared with the properties of conventional SIO
. From the results, we find that these NO and ONO thin films are strongly influenced by process time and the optimized ONO film shows superior dielectric characteristics, and (Q
) performance over the NO film and SIO
, while maintaining a similar electric field dependence compared with NO layer.
Design of Multi-Valued Process using SD, PD
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 2, issue 3, 1998, Pages 439~446
This paper presents design of SD adder and PD adder on Multi-Valued Logic. For implementing of Multi-valued logic circuits we use Current-mode CMOS circuits and also use Voltage-mode CMOS circuits partially. The proposed arithmetic circuits was estimated by SPICE simulation. At the SD(Signed-Digit) number presentation applying Multi-Valued logic the carry propagation is always limited to one position to the left this number presentation allows fast parallel operation. The addition method that add M operands using PD( positive digit number) is effective not only for the realization of the high-speed compact arithmetic circuit, but also for the reduction of the interconnection in the VLSI processor. therefor, if we use PD number representation, the high speed processor can be implementation.
