Bandwidth Enhancement of Double-Dipole Quasi-Yagi Antenna Using Modified Microstrip-to-Coplanar Strip line Balun

In this paper, a method of enhancing the bandwidth of a double-dipole quasi-Yagi antenna (DDQYA) using a modified integrated balun is presented. The modified integrated balun consists of a microstrip (MS) line inserted along the center of a coplanar strip (CPS) line and the end of the MS line is connected to the CPS line through a shorting pin at the feed point. The geometry of the modified integrated balun is adjusted to improve the bandwidth of the DDQYA. In addition, the performance of the proposed balun in a back-to-back configuration is compared with a conventional balun. The proposed antenna with the optimized modified integrated balun is fabricated on an FR4 substrate, and the experiment results show that the antenna has a frequency band of 1.56-3.04 GHz(64.4%) for a VSWR < 2, which shows enhanced bandwidth compared to the DDQYA with the conventional balun.
A New Speech Quality Measure for Speech Database Verification System

This paper presents a speech recognition database verification system using speech measures, and describes a speech measure extraction algorithm which is applied to this system. In our previous study, to produce an effective speech quality measure for the system, we propose a combination of various speech measures which are highly correlated with WER (Word Error Rate). The new combination of various types of speech quality measures in this study is more effective to predict the speech recognition performance compared to each speech measure alone. In this paper, we increase the system independency by employing GMM acoustic score instead of HMM score which is obtained by a secondary speech recognition system. The combination with GMM score shows a slightly lower correlation with WER compared to the combination with HMM score, however it presents a higher relative improvement in correlation with WER, which is calculated compared to the correlation of each speech measure alone.
Speech Recognition Accuracy Prediction Using Speech Quality Measure

This paper presents our study on speech recognition performance prediction. Our initial study shows that a combination of speech quality measures effectively improves correlation with Word Error Rate (WER) compared to each speech measure alone. In this paper we demonstrate a new combination of various types of speech quality measures shows more significantly improves correlation with WER compared to the speech measure combination of our initial study. In our study, SNR, PESQ, acoustic model score, and MFCC distance are used as the speech quality measures. This paper also presents our speech database verification system for speech recognition employing the speech measures. We develop a WER prediction system using Gaussian mixture model and the speech quality measures as a feature vector. The experimental results show the proposed system is highly effective at predicting WER in a low SNR condition of speech babble and car noise environments.
Joint User Scheduling and Power Control Considering Both Signal and Interference for Multi-Cell Networks

In this paper, we propose a distributed user scheduling with interference-aware power control (IAPC) to maximize signal to generating interference plus noise ratio (SGINR) in uplink multi-cell networks. Assuming that the channel reciprocity time-division duplexing (TDD) system is used, the channel state information (CSI) can be obtained at each user from pilot signals from other BSs. In the proposed scheduling, to be specific, each user reduces the transmit power if its generating interference to other BSs is larger than a predetermined threshold. Each BS selects the user with the largest SGINR among users. Simulation results show that the proposed technique significantly outperforms the existing user scheduling algorithms. It is worth noting that the proposed technique operates with distributed manner without information exchange among cells. Hence, it can be easily applied to the practical wireless systems like 3GPP LTE without significant modifications of the specification.
Implementation of Self-Interference Cancellation Techniques for Full-Duplex Communication

Full-duplex communication can enhance wireless capacity by enabling simultaneous transmission and reception of the signals on the same frequency spectrum. Such a benefit, however, is only achieved when strong self-interference is well canceled below a sufficient level. To achieve this goal, there have been several approaches for cancellation, each of which is combined with digital-domain cancellation for a higher gain. In this paper, we implement two self-interference cancellation techniques and integrate them with a software defined radio-based wireless communication testbed. Two cancellation techniques (antenna cancellation and noise subtraction) are implemented and the cancellation gain is measured via real experiments. The results show that the gain of the antenna placement technique highly depends on the placement of a receiving antenna and the highest gain is achieved at the expected point, and we show that combining the noise subtraction circuit with the antenna placement further improves the cancellation gain.
A Tabu Search Algorithm for Controller Placement Problem in Software Defined Networks

The software defined networks implement a software network control plane, which is physically separated from the data plane. For wide area software defined network deployments, multiple controllers are required, and the placement of these controllers influences importantly the performance of the software defined networks. This paper proposes a Tabu search algorithm, which is one of the meta heuristic algorithms, for an efficient controller placement in software defined networks. In order to efficiently obtain better results, we propose new neighborhood generating operations, which are called the neighbor position move and the neighbor number move, of the Tabu search algorithm. We evaluate the performances of the proposed algorithm through some experiments in terms of the minimum latency and the execution time of the proposed algorithm. The comparison results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing genetic algorithm and random method under various conditions.
A Body-Area Localization Technique for WUSB over WBAN Communication

In this Paper, we propose a body-area localization technique based on WUSB (Wireless USB) over WBAN (Wireless Body Area Networks) protocol required for wearable computer systems. The proposed localization algorithm is executed on the basis of WUSB over WBAN protocol at each sensor node comprising peripherals of a wearable computer system. To increase the accuracy of input information through various body motions in wearable computer systems, a new localization technique with high precision must be developed. To achieve the goal, This paper proposes a combined TDoA/FDoA/AoA (Time Of Arrival/Time Difference Of Arrival/Angle Of Arrival) localization technique with more than four WUSB over WBAN devices to estimate body-area location accurately. The combined TDoA/FDoA/AoA technique reduces 10mm in location estimation errors comparing with a combined TDoA/FDoA technique. This performance enhancement in location error reduction can be ignored at other systems but is meaningful results in body-area localization-based communications.
Resource Allocation for Maximizing Energy Efficiency in Energy Harvesting Networks with Channel Estimation Error

Recently, energy harvesting technology is considered as a tool to improve the lifetime of sensor networks by mitigating the battery capacity limitation problem. However, the previous work on energy harvesting has failed to provide practical information since it has assumed an ideal channel knowledge model with perfect channel state information at transmitter (CSIT). This paper proposes an energy efficient resource allocation scheme that takes account of the channel estimation process and the corresponding estimation error. Based on the optimization tools, we provide information on efficient scheduling and power allocation as the functions of channel estimation accuracy, harvested energy, and data rate. The simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional energy harvesting networks without considering channel estimation error in terms of energy efficiency. Furthermore, with taking account of channel estimation error, the results provides a new way for allocating resources and scheduling devices.
Fast 3D mesh generation using projection for line laser-based 3D Scanners

This paper presents a fast 3D mesh generation method using projection for line laser-based 3D scanners. The well-known method for 3D mesh generation utilizes convex hulls for 4D vertices that is converted from the input 3D vertices. This 3D mesh generation for a large set of vertices requires a lot of time. To overcome this problem, the proposed method takes (
) 2D depth map into account. The 2D depth map is a projection version of 3D data with a form of (
, y, z) which are intermediately acquired by line laser-based 3D scanners. Thus, our 2D-based method is a very fast 3D mesh generation method. To evaluate our method, we conduct experiments with intermediate 3D vertex data from line-laser scanners. Experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the existing method in terms of mesh generation speed.
Performance Comparison of Wave Information Retrieval Algorithms Based on 3D Image Analysis Using VTS Sensor

As marine accidents happen frequently, it is required to establish a marine traffic monitoring system, which is designed to improve the safety and efficiency of navigation in VTS (Vessel Traffic Service). For this aim, recently, X-band marine radar is used for extracting the sea surface information and, it is necessary to retrieve wave information correctly and provide for the safe and efficient movement of vessel traffic within the VTS area. In this paper, three different current estimation algorithms including the classical least-squares (LS) fitting, a modified iterative least-square fitting routine and a normalized scalar product of variable current velocities are compared with buoy data and then, the iterative least-square method is modified to estimate wave information by improving the initial current velocity. Through several simulations with radar signals, it is shown that the proposed method is effective in retrieving the wave information compared to the conventional methods.
Uncertainty Analysis of Observation Matrix for 3D Reconstruction

Statistical optimization algorithms have been variously developed to estimate the 3D shape and motion. However, statistical approaches are limited to analyze the sensitive effects of SfM(Shape from Motion) according to the camera's geometrical position or viewing angles and so on. This paper propose the quantitative estimation method about the uncertainties of an observation matrix by using camera imaging configuration factors predict the reconstruction ambiguities in SfM. This is a very efficient method to predict the final reconstruction performance of SfM algorithm. Moreover, the important point is that our method show how to derive the active guidelines in order to set the camera imaging configurations which can be expected to lead the reasonable reconstruction results. The experimental results verify the quantitative estimates of an observation matrix by using camera imaging configurations and confirm the effectiveness of our algorithm.
Design and Implementation of File Conversion System for Efficient Upload of Vehicle Operation Data

Freight and passenger transport operators must converts the operation records of digital operation recording device (Digital Tachograph) that is mounted on their vehicle in a certain format, and report them to governmental agencies. However, for most of the individual carrier who cannot access a computer environment easily and are not familiar with the use of computer, it has given a big inconvenience to them because the procedures for entering the data obtained from the operation are so complicate. Therefore, in this study, a mobile system for converting the operation record file to request form of a government agency is designed and developed, so that the converted file can be submitted to the government agency in a simple way through the personal mobile device. By entering the data obtained from an actual operation recording device into the system, converting the data in the proposed algorithms, and checking the contents of the converted file in data viewer, it was confirmed that the proposed functions is working properly in the system.
A History Check System of Public Electronic Certificate using OCSP Service

Public electronic certificates, as an important means for identification, have been used as the main economic transactions, including banking, e-government, e-commerce. identification. However, damage cases of certificates have been increased by Illegally issued and by hacking practices. Also the users have a difficult in ensuring that their certificates when and where to use. Therefore, the proposed system gives the organization code for the Institutions using OCSP services in advance, the organization code embedded in extensions of OCSP request message structure when institutions ask the validation of certificate to CA(Certificate Authority). Also, OCSP server can extract the organization code from OCSP request message, confirm the institution, and record it in certificate history management table of DB. In this paper, we presented a system that could determine the certificate history check using OCSP service, public electronic certificate validation service, and implemented to prevent and cope immediately with financial incidents.
Abstract Visualization for Effective Debugging of Parallel Programs Based on Multi-threading

It is important for effective visualization to summarize not only a large amount of debugging information but also the mental models of abstract ideas. This paper presents an abstract visualization tool which provides effective visualization of thread structure and race information for OpenMP programs with critical sections and nested parallelism, using a partial order execution graph which captures logical concurrency among threads. This tool is supported by an on-the-fly trace-filtering technique to reduce space complexity of visualization information, and a graph abstraction technique to reduce visual complexity of nested parallelism and critical sections in the filtered trace. The graph abstraction of partial-order relation and race information is effective for understanding program execution and detecting to eliminate races, because the user can examine control flow of program and locations of races in a structural fashion.
Secrecy Enhancement via Artificial Noise with Protected Zones of Transmitter and Receiver

The network interference gives positive and negative effects to security and QoS simultaneously by disturbing the decoding of receiver and eavesdropper. The transmission of artificial noise enables to indirectly control these contradicting effects. This paper proposed the secrecy enhancement technique via artificial noise with protected zones of transmitter and receiver and investigated its gain by using stochastic geometry. For given arbitrary artificial noise power ratio, we first analyzed connection outage probability and secrecy outage probability for four different scenarios (separated, overlapped, included secrecy protected zones- type A, B) according to distance and size of protected zones of the transmitter and receiver. We then derive the secrecy transmission rate and find the optimal artificial noise power ratio to maximize it. Finally, with numerical examples, we investigate the effects of the system parameters such as size of protected zones of transmitter and receiver on the optimal artificial noise power ratio.
Non-memorizing authentication system using the preference words

User requirements for access and authentication increase daily because of the diversification of the Internet of Things (IoT) and social structures. The increase in authentication needs requires the generation of new passwords. Users want to utilize the same passwords for memorization convenience. However, system administrators request each user to use different passwords, as well as passwords that include special symbols. Differnet passwords and including special symbols passwords seem to exceed the tolerance range within your memorization skills. It fetches a very negative consequences in terms of password management. This paper proposes a preference symbol password system that does not require memorization by users. First, a survey is conducted to prove statistical safety, and based on this, an evolution-type password system that uses preference symbols is designed. Preference symbol passwords show superiority with respect to installation cost and convenience, compared with conventional non-memorizing password systems such as biometrics, keystrokes, and mouse patterns.
Influence of Ratio of Top and Bottom Oxide Thickness on Subthreshold Swing for Asymmetric Double Gate MOSFET

Asymmetric double gate(DG) MOSFET has the different top and bottom gate oxides thicknesses. It is analyzed the deviation of subthreshold swing(SS) and conduction path for the ratio of top and bottom gate oxide thickness of asymmetric DGMOSFET. SS varied along with conduction path, and conduction path varied with top and bottom gate oxide thickness. The asymmetric DGMOSFET became valuable device to reduce the short channel effects like degradation of SS. SSs were obtained from analytical potential distribution by Poisson's equation, and it was analyzed how the ratio of top and bottom oxide thickness influenced on conduction path and SS. SSs and conduction path were greatly influenced by the ratio of top and bottom gate oxide thickness. Bottom gate voltage cause significant influence on SS, and SS are changed with a range of 200 mV/dec for
under bottom voltage of 0.7 V.

Also the structure of the synchronous TDC is simple because there is no the high frequency external clock. The operation of designed TDC is confirmed by the HSPICE simulation.

Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) are regarded as a harmful cause substance not only causing air pollutions but also causing global warming phenomenon. For this reason, VOCs are managed politically to reduce emissions by each country. In particular, the vapor from the gas station contains VOCs which is harmful to the human body such as carcinogens benzene and pollute the atmosphere, the Ministry of Environment defined every gas station must install vapor recovery equipment to recover volatile organic compounds. Recently, there are many accidents caused by existing vapor treatment methods, the liquefaction recovery technology is getting the spotlight to cool the vapor at the field. However, because the liquefaction recovery technology have risks of fire or explosion in accordance with temperature, the real time monitoring is critical factor. In this paper, we implement an Android-based monitoring application for liquified vapor recovery device which attached sensor module for temperature and power to monitoring real time information.

Many people feel uncomfortable when fitness center is crowded with people in all at the same time. So we propose exercise machines reservation system for resolving the problem that people feel uncomfortable in fitness center. In this paper, we design and implement the exercise machines reservation system that allows for users to reserve fitness equipments by using a NFC-based smart band. A user can reserve exercise machine using some reservation device. he or she will receive notifications through the smart band about when and which machine she or he will have to use. The user can do exercise with a recommended program, and can use any equipments conveniently even in a peak time because no one is waiting. Also, a manager can save cost through the efficient facility management and provide customized member management. Additionally, manager don't need to purchase other exercise machines or computers.
Automated Cable Route Design based Flexible Cable Fill Check of Raceway in Cable Spreading of Generating Station

In generating station, cable spreading design is a very important task, which is very much time consuming, due to the type of cable used in generating station is very diverse. The raceway means the cable line section from source equipment to destination, and consists of cable tray and conduit. The process of existing cable spreading design was written in by hand. Thereby, there are grossly inefficient gain such as cable omission and unfixed fill value by a personal and time investment. In this paper, we proposed and implemented the automated cable route design based flexible cable fill check in generating station, and proposed the automated cable route design can be calculated the cable fill with flexible changing of raceway. Some experimental result shows that implemented cable route design is well performed and conducted as the design specifications, and it will be able to reduce the cable spreading design time.
Web based Body Change Monitoring System

Improved quality of life has increased in a population with a high BMI (Body Mass Index). Accordingly, the development of a system for prevention of obesity management is required. Because a requirement for the prevention of obesity management system. This system has been developed to solve this problem and it is done by measuring the user information of the individual's body. The purpose of this paper is to understand the changes in your own BMI over the course of usage of this application and store the BMI in the database. This BMI data is expressed as a graph to the user and based on the BMI graph, the user is suggested to the type of exercise required by his body. The most appropriate exercise equipment's are shown to the user based on the BMI and also recommendations based on the historical data of other users with similar BMI. This system also recommends chronic diseases depending on blood sugar, blood pressure.
Middle Ear Disease Automatic Decision Scheme using HoG Descriptor

This paper presents a decision method of middle ear disease which is developed in children and adults. In the proposed method, features are extracted from the middle ear disease images and normal images using HoG (histogram of oriented gradient) descriptor and the extracted features are learned by SVM (support vector machine) classifier. To obtain an input vector into SVM, an input image is resized to a predefined size and then the resized image is partitioned into 16 blocks each of which is partitioned into 4 sub-blocks (namely cell). Finally, the feature vector with 576 components is given by using HoG with 9 bins and it is used as SVM learning and classification. Input images are classified by SVM classifier based on the model of learning features. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields the precision of over 90% in decision.
A panorama image generation method using FAST algorithm

In this paper, a feature based panorama image generation algorithm using FAST(Features from Accelerated Segment Test) method that is faster than SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) and SURF(Speeded Up Robust Features) is proposed. Cylindrical projection is performed to generate natural panorama images with numerous images as input. The occurred error can be minimized by applying RANSAC(Random Sample Consensus) for the matching process. When we synthesize numerous images acquired from different camera angles, we use blending techniques to compensate the distortions by the heterogeneity of border line. In that way, we could get more natural synthesized panorama image. The proposed algorithm can generate natural panorama images regardless the order of input images and tilted images. In addition, the image matching can be faster than the conventional method. As a result of the experiments, distortion was corrected and natural panorama image was generated.
Performance analysis of the optical displacement sensor for accurate in-plane motion measurement

In this study, the contactless measurement method with a optical displacement sensor(ODS, ADNS 9500) was proposed to overcome flaws in a rotary encoder based measurement under particular circumstances, such as a slippage and a case of little rotational inertia. The performance tests of the optical displacement sensor using data acquisition board and National Instruments's LabVIEW program were performed to accomplish accurate displacement measurements and the performance characteristics according to measurement direction, speed, acceleration, height and surface types were discovered through the repetitive tests. The experimental results indicate that, in order to get an accurate in-plane motion, the height(distance between the ODS and the target surface) has to be maintained at the range of 2.4 mm to 3.2 mm and the sensitivity(resolution) should be modified and applied to the formulae for displacement calculation, considering its measurement direction, speed and surface type.
Mixed Noise Removal using Histogram and Pixel Information of Local Mask

Recently, the data image processing has been applied to a variety of fields including broadcasting, communication, computer graphics, medicine, and so on. Generally, the image data may develop the noise during their transmission. Therefore, the studies have been actively conducted to remove the noise on the image. There are diverse types of noise on the image including salt and pepper noise, AWGN, and mixed noise. Hence, the filter algorithm for the image recovery was proposed that salt and pepper noise was processed by histogram and spatial weighted values after defining the noise to lessen the impact of mixed noise added in the image, and AWGN was processed by the pixel information of local mask establishing the weighted values in this study. Regarding the processed results by applying Lena images which were corrupted by salt and pepper noise(P=50%) and AWGN(
), suggested algorithm showed the improvement by 7.06[dB], 10.90[dB], 5.97[dB] respectively compared with the existing CWMF, A-TMF, AWMF.
Calculation of Top Event Probability of Fault Tree using BDD

As the number of gates and basic events in fault trees increases, it becomes difficult to calculate the exact probability of the top event. In order to overcome this difficulty the BDD methodology can be used to calculate the exact top event probability for small and medium size fault trees in short time. Fault trees are converted to BDD by using CUDD library functions and a failure path search algorithm is proposed to calculate the exact top event probability. The backward search algorithm is more efficient than the forward one in finding failure paths and in the calculation of the top event probability. This backward search algorithm can reduce searching time in the identification of disjoint failure paths from BDD and can be considered as an effective tool to find the cut sets and the minimal cut sets for the given fault trees.

Without the interference of man in traditional single-device control system P2M way to control the device by a person to the development of the Internet of Things it was changing the way the M2M communication between devices possible. The attention of the user on the IoT to this development, but this increase was caused problems the system is insufficient to help the understanding of the IoT technologies to meet them. Therefore, to understand the operation of the IoT technology system that can easily expressed is required. In this paper, we design and implement a simulation system that can monitor the process of relationships between devices, such as when a user event occurs, the sensor, SNS and the XML-based collaboration to meet users' needs. Further, the respective functions for the maintenance and updating of the simulation system is proposed to make API.
Method on Radar deployment for Ballistic Missile Detection Probability Improvement

North Korea has various ballistic missiles from short range to long range such as inter continental ballistic missiles. Short range ballistic missiles such as SCUD series are threatening to Korea peninsula. Therefore Korea is constructing various missile defense systems to protect country. Parameters influencing the received power from the target to the radar are transmitting power, antenna gain, carrier frequency, RCS(Radar Cross Section) of target and distance from radar to target. Especially, RCS and distance from target are not radar performance defined parameters but external parameters. Therefore radar deployment position that large RCS can be observed and target to radar distance should be considered in parallel to improve target detection probability. In this paper, RCS pattern of SCUD-B ballistic missile is calculated, received power is analyzed based on radar deployment position during ballistic missile trajectory and methode for optimum radar deployment position to improve target detection probability is suggested.
Analysis of Anti-jamming for GPS Guided Missile by GPS Reception Azimuth Control

Recently, because Global Positioning System (GPS) achieves accuracy for engagement of enemy targets, GPS guided weapons have a wide range of applications from land through sea to air. Especially, when GPS guided weapon is then launched, it reads current position and searches a course to the target. As we all know, because GPS signals are weak, these signals can be affected by interference. If jamming signal is strong enough, it can jam the receiver of GPS guided weapon. Therefore, anti-jamming technique is an important thing under these conditions. In this paper, the controlling azimuth angle was used to improve navigation performance of precision guided missile under jamming conditions. First of all, precision missiles by GPS positioning such as SLAM-ER and JDAM were investigated. Also, the azimuth cutoff angle of satellites for usable navigation under jamming signals was analyzed by experimental tests. As a result, we found that azimuth cutoff angle under 140 degree can help ensure continuous GPS reception under the missile guidance.
