Every educational institutes in our country are connected each other with internet lines but their low-level usage environment causes the speed of information-communication net to be slow. Therefore we confront many difficult barriers to operate the highlighted informatization education. In this paper, I examined and studied the effective operation solutions about basic equipment of electronic net.
Design of the Adaptive Filter with Dynamic Structure for the Biomedical Signal Processing
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 848~852
The biomedical signals such as ECG, EMG, EEG, and etc are very Important information to diagnose patients The signal is hard to filter the noise because that is mixed with a lot of noise and biomedical signal has the properties of nonlinear and time-variance. So, we will filter under the measure environment for system or patient. But the general adaptive fillet has brought on the distortion of signal because the adaptive filter adjust the filter coefficient with the fixed order of filter, that filter has the unsuitable order in each other environment. So we propose the dynamic structure adaptive filter that is used for improving that disadvantage. In experiment, we obtain the optimal order of adaptive filter and have food results.
A Study on Denoising Methods using Wavelet in AWGN environment
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 853~860
This paper presents the new two denoising methods using wavelet. One is new spatially selective noise filtration(NSSNF) using spatial correlation and the other is undecimated discrete wavelet transform (UDWT) threshold-based. NSSNF got the flexible gain special property of SNR adding new parameter at the existing SSNF and UDWT had superior denosing effect than orthogonal wavelet transform(OWT) applied soft-threshold by applied hard-threshold. We selected additive white gaussian noise(AWGN) in this test environment. Also we analyzed and compared ousting denoising method using SNR as standard of judgement of improvemental effect.
Performance Analysis of Reed Solomon/Convolutional Concatenated Codes and Turbo code using Semi Random Interleaver over the Radio Communication Channel
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 861~868
In this paper, the performance of Reed Solomon(RS)/convolution리 concatenated codes and turbo code using semi random interleaver over the radio communication channel was analyzed. In the result, we proved that the performance of decoder was excellent as increase the interleaver size, constraint length, and iteration number. When turbo code using semi random interleaver and Hsiconvolutional concatenated codes was constant constraint length L=5, BER=10-4 , each value of
was 4.5〔dB〕 and 2.95〔dB〕. Therefore, when the constraint length was constant, we proved that the performance of turbo code is superior to RS/Convolutional concatenated codes about 1.55〔dB〕 in the case of BER=10-4.

Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 869~876
In modern wireless communication, it has been regarded as a important problem for the spectrum efficiency to utilize the limited frequency-resource efficiently. In addition, the system architecture has been designed for low cost, low power consumption and ultra-lightweight. In this paper, we directly modulated the BCPFSK with a superior spectrum efficiency using the DDS and applied the direct conversion to the system architecture. Finally, we designed a transceiver which has the 433 MHz BCPFSK output and evaluated the system performance. In the measured result, we know that as for spectrum and the power efficiency, BCPFSK method is better than conventional one. Also, the results of the designed system is 433.92 MHz in center frequency and about 33 dBc in carrier suppression ratio. And we get the better results in local oscillator leakage and the spurious of the ISM out-band the same as -69dBc and under 60dBc
Performance Evaluation of a Genetic Algorithm-Based Multiuser Detector
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 877~883
In this paper, we propose a new Genetic Algorithm(GA)-based Multiuser Detector(MUD), and its performance is evaluated by computer simulation compared to both the optimum MUD and the Hopfield neural network(NN) -based MUD when the near-far problem exists. From the results of comprehensive simulation, it is shown that the proposed MUD in this paper can guarantee a close BER performance compared to both the optimum MUD and the Hopfield NN MUD with a considerable reduced complexity under the near-far condition. Furthermore, a more performance improvement than the Hopfield W MUD can be expected when the near-far problem does not exist.

Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 884~891
In this paper, We use Antipodal signal for data modulation of Ultra Wideband(UWB) system. This has maximum Euclidean distance and -1 or 0 of correlation values. With adapting this signal to M-ary that and time hopped pattern, We designed multiple access system. UWB Antipodal signal employes Gaussian monopulse and Rayleigh monopulse. Using these signals, we analysis and compare error probability, the number of user and data rate of the two systems under the AWGN.
Optimum Design of a Communication Protocol for Meteor Burst Communication
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 892~901
Despite of many advantages over conventional radio paths, application of the Meteor Burst Path in commercial communication system is so far limited to a few extent because of its low duty rate, which is, less than several percent at best. In order to get through maximum number of data bits during the short interval of each burst, which normally lives a fractions of a second, a sophisticated communication protocol is called for. In this paper, author introduces a communication protocol which can effectively locate and fetch burst signal by sending out periodic detection signal from master station and, with minimal delay, switch over to transmission states so as to put as many data bits through the detected burst as the burst length permits. By analyzing time period required for each transaction steps, the author derives optimal packet length for various bursts which assures to get a message string through in minimum delay. According to the analysis, the author proposes a protocol including a routine which automatically accesses average length of bursts at each environment and automatically adapt length of data packet so as to maximize data throughput under Riven burst conditions.
Performance Analysis of MC DS-CDMA System using Turbo Code in Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channel
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 902~907
In this paper, we analyzed BER performance of the MC DS-CDMA system and evaluated the degree of performance improvement of the system caused by adopting turbo code recently receiving much attention due to its powerful coding capability. As a result of analysis, it was found that the MC DS-CDMA system without any powerful coding scheme can not serve voice quality
regardless of the number of users and the value of
in Rayleigh fading channel. On the other hand, it was found that the MC DS-CDMA system adopting turbo code for performance improvement, shows improved BER performance and can serve voice quality without regard to the number of users and the value of
in the same channel. For example, when
is l0dB and the number of users was 10, the MC DS-CDMA system adopting turbo code showed improved BER performance about
A Study on the Performance Improvement of Turbo Coded OFDM Systems Considering Frequency Offset
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 908~915
In this paper, it is analyzed theoretically that the performance degradation, caused by carrier frequency offset, in an OFDM/M-ary PSK system. Then, when Turbo coding is adopted to an OFDM/M-ary PSK system, the degree of performance enhancement is evaluated. Finally, the maximum frequency offset is calculated to satisfy the BER performance required in a Turbo coded OFDM/M-ary PSK system. As results of analysis, it is shown that the more the number of M-ary is, the worse the BER performance is. Moreover, 7dB, 9dB, and 17dB of
are required in QPSK, 8PSK and 16PSK systems, respectively in order to satisfy the error performance,
for voice communication. If
are 10㏈ and 15㏈, the frequency offset should be below 0.05 and 0.075, respectively, for voice communication. When Turbo coding is adopted to an OFDM/M-ary PSK system, the less the number of M-ary is, the greater the performance enhancement of Turbo coding is. If the number of a M-ary system of the system is below 16, it is found that required
is about 8dB to satisfy
Moreover, in the system the Turbo coding scheme, voice communication is available with greatly low
, and 8dB of
is enough for data communication regardless of the permission range of frequency offset.
MAC Protocol based on Spreading Code Status-Sensing Scheme for Integrated Voice/Data Services
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 916~922
A medium access control protocol is proposed for integrated voice and data services in the packet CDMA network with a small coverage. Uplink channels are composed of time slots and multiple spreading codes for each slot. This protocol gives higher access priority to the delay-sensitive voice traffic than to the data traffic. During a talkspurt, voice terminals reserve a spreading code to transmit multiple voice packets. On the other hand, whenever generating a data packet, data terminals transmit a packet based on the status Information of spreading codes in the current slot, which is received from base station. In this protocol, voice packet does not come into collision with data packet. Therefore, this protocol can increase the maximum number of voice terminals.
Split-ACK Scheme for Performance Improvement of TCP Short Traffic in Wireless Environment
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 923~930
In this paper, in order to improve the performance of TCP short traffic services in wireless Internet environments, the Split-ACKs(SPACK) scheme is proposed. In wireless networks, unlike wired networks, packet losses will occur more often due to high bit error rates. Therefore, each packet loss over wireless links results in congestion control procedure of TCP being invoked at the source. This causes severe end-to-end performance degradation of TCP. In this paper, to alleviate the TCP performance, the SPACK method, split acknowledgement packets in the base station, is proposed. Using computer simulation, the performance of TCP using SPACK is analyzed and shows better performance than traditional TCP protocol.
A Study on Policing Mechanism in ATM Network using Fuzzy Control
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 931~940
In this paper, I propose Fuzzy Policing Mechanism(FPM) over ATM networks for the control of traffic which is unpredictable and bursty source. The FPM is consist of counter, subtracter and Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC). The FLC is divided to fuzzifier, inference engine and defuzzifer The output of FLC inputs to the subtractor and it controls the counter. The counter works as a switch in transmission of cells. In simulation, I compared the FPM with the Leaky Bucket algorithm(LBM) in cell loss probability and performance characteristics. As a result, FPM gives lower cell loss probability than that of LBM and has good response behavior The FPM efficiently controls the transmission of packets which are variable traffic source and, it also has good selectivity.
QoS Control and Link-Level Performance Analysis for Mobile IP of Wireless Communication Networks
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 941~950
In this paper, we present the integrated network architecture for supporting mobile IP in third generation mobile communication networks, and propose the end-to-end QoS control mechanisms of DiffServ and QoS control functions of each network element in the proposed network. First, the QoS supporting schemes of IMT-2000 are described. Second, the necessities of integrating the networks are discussed and the integrated architecture are proposed. Third, the mapping between wireless channels and DiffServ classes are presented. Finally, the end-to-end QoS control mechanisms are proposed. We also analyze the link level protocols with QoS provisioning for mobile multimedia assuming that the system support voice and data traffic simultaneously. In case of data traffic, the delay and throughput of SREJ ARQ and Type-1 Hybrid ARQ scheme are compared, and In case of voice traffic, the packet loss rate of BCH coding is analyzed according to the varying data traffic loads. The results indicate that the adaptive link level protocols are efficient to meet the QoS requirements while the complexities are increased.
Storage System of Video Database of Considering User Classes
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 951~959
Video database has the function that stores videos and retrieves the video informations for the service request of users. Therefore, the purpose of the video database is to provide not only an environment both convenient and efficient for retrieving and storing video, but also to serve the requested video informations with rapid startup latency for more users. But, some users of video database as VOD application might tolerate slow startup latency because they would watch video during one hour or two hours. In this paper, we propose the novel policy of the storage system of video database, which serves efficiently the users by considering the classes of the users in video database. The policy admits the random movements of disk heads for urgent user classes but maintains the sequential or restricted movements of disk heads for less-urgent user classes like VOD application in storage system of video database. So, it can not provide only rapid startup latencies for urgent requests but also it can process more service requests in all.

Implementation of C++ ID Compiler
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 970~976
In this paper, OUIG IDL CFE, provided by Sunsoft, is used to take a IDL definitions as inputs and parse those. OmniORB3 is introduced to support functionality of the ORB. Suns CFE produce AST after parsing inputs. Actually, the node of AST Is instances of classes which are derived from CFE classes. As the compiler back end visit the node of the AST using iterator class, UTL_ScopeActiveIterator, it dumps codes of output. During processing, two files are generated. Routines of generating code are invoked by BE_produce.cc and codes are produced while visiting root of AST, idl_global->root(). The dump* functions which dump codes is called according to the type of node. In this paper, Mapping C++ of IDL definition is experimented and results In the same as that of omniidl which is provided by omniORB3. The code of results behavior correctly on omniORB3. In the future, we are interested in optimizing the performance of marshalling code via IDL compiler.

Development of a Simulation Tool and a Monitoring System for Laser Welding Quality Inspection
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 985~993
Neural networks are shown to be effective in being able to distinguish incomplete penetration-like weld defects by directly analyzing the plasma which is generated on each impingement of the laser on the materials. The performance is similar to that of existing methods based on extracted feature parameters. In each case around 93% of the defects in a database derived from 100 artificially produced defects of known types can be placed into one of two classes: incomplete penetration and bubbling. The present method based on classification using plasma is faster, and the speed is sufficient to allow on-line classification during data collection

Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 994~1000
With the development of electromagnetic communication technology and increased use of electromagnetic wave, the countermeasure of EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) becomes more important socially, and interest for the electromagnetic wave absorber has also increased. In this paper, we have studied characteristics of frequency dependency on complex permittivity and complex permeability according to the changes of composition rate and sintering temperature of NiCuZn ferrite also known as electromagnetic wave absorber and further looked into effect of electromagnetic wave absorption properties. From the measurement where the composition of

displays more than 1 within the frequency band of 2MHz~9.5MHz when the composition ratio of NiO was ranged around 8.5~9.5 mol% and the sintering temperature was
Analysis of Waveguid Filter Using Green′s Absorbing Layer in three Dimension TLM Method
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 1001~1010
In TLM method, Discrete Green's function ABC have been used when improved the exactness of analyzing in wide frequency band. But this technology has a complicated process to apply absorbing boundary, which means it needs additional numerical analyzing process to obtain discrete Green's function data. so, In this paper, we propose new Green's absorbing layer for simple process to apply absorbing boundary. newly proposed Green's absorbing layer is produced by applying of loss operation, loading discrete Green's function with attenuation. A state of optimum absorbing would be obtained by relation between increasing rate of loss, attenuation constant and length of green's absorbing layer. and then Analysts of waveguide BPF is carried out using Green's absorbing layer within state of optimum absorbing, then this result is in corrective agreement with the result applying traditional discrete Green's function ABC.
Design of a Narrow-Band Bandpass Filter Using Microstrip Open-Loop Resonators With Coupled and Crossing Lines
Journal of the Korea Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, volume 5, issue 5, 2001, Pages 1011~1016
In this paper, a narrow-band bandpass filter using microstrip open-loop resonators with coupled and crossing lines is designed and fabricated. This filter has many advantages such as compact in size, low weight and the characteristic of the elliptic-function narrow-band bandpass filtering. The configuration consists of two identical microstrip open loop resonators, coupled line and crossing line. By using open loop resonators, the size of the filter can be reduced about 50% compared with the ring resonators. A crossing line gives two notchs in the stopband, which have sharp selectivity in the passband. Centered at 2.455GHz, the calculated microstrip bandpass filter shows a bandwidth of 1.22%, which makes it very attractive for application in the wireless LAN. The filter is fabricated by photo-etching process. The fabricated bandpass filter shows that the bandwidth is 0.85% for 2.458GHz and the size is only
