Capacity Maximizing Adaptive Subcarrier Selection in OFDM with Limited Feedback

We propose an efficient adaptive subcarrier selection scheme, in which the active subcarriers and their modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) are selected at the receiver, and subsequently conveyed to the transmitter using limited feedback We theoretically show that capacity maximization can be achieved by selecting subcarriers with highest signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and adapting the number of active subcarriers according to channel environments. Furthermore, an ordering based adaptive subcarrier selection algorithm is proposed to select the optimal active subcarriers with low complexity. Numerical results show that the proposed adaptive subcarrier selection scheme provides higher capacity than that obtained by water-filling approaches, even with limited feedback.
Design and Implementation of Mobile VNC System for GUI Control and Monitoring of Remote Computer

The Growth in wireless Internet has made Networking possible at anytime and anywhere. So mobile devices like cellular phone and PDA are now used in various fields. In particular, the mobility of mobile devices has a great advantage in remote control. This paper designed and implemented a Mobile VNC system that transmitted the screen image of a remote computer, control the remote computer GU and monitor all by cellular phone. The proposed system consists of a Mobile Viewer un on the cellular phone, VNC Server m on a number of remote computers and a VNC Monitor. For communication between the VNC Server and the Mobile Viewer the MRFB protocol is used. The screen image transmitted to the Mobile Viewer is encoded in the PNG format supported by SK-VM, the Java execution environment of the Cellular phone. . According to the 65 times transmission test, the average frame per second is 4.93fps in the emulator and a real cellular phone takes 0.8fps. Therefore, the proposed system is more efficient than existing systems.
Performance Analysis of Communication Systems with Penetration Loss of Building Materials in Pico-cell Environment

In this paper, we analyzed the effect by building materials in the case of floor cell design and the penetration loss value by material in each frequency bands through an experiment in high building. Specially, the penetration loss measured about interference signal that is received to direct path, interference signal and flowed in slant path. Also, we analyzed system performance according to path of standard Cell received interference signal.
Performance Evaluation of Multi Carrier Transmission Techniques

Multi carrier transmissions are digital modulation techniques where a single data symbol is transmitted at multiple subcarriers which are orthogonal to each other. With his technique, frequency diversity can be achieved. The performance of multi carrier transmission systems with various structure are analyzed, where data is transmitted over multi-path Rayleigh fading channel. Performance Analysis of Routing Protocols depending on the Types of Topology in MANET

MANET(Mobile Ad hoc NETwork) routing protocols have merits and demerits under the specific situations. Because it is not clear which protocol is the best under all situations, a suitable routing protocol should be selected depending on the traffic and moving characteristics of nodes. The aim of this paper is to select an appropriate routing protocol to be used by the Korea Coal Corporation. So we designed working scenarios such as coal mining and tunnel supporting that reflected mobile characteristics of nodes. We constructed coal mining and tunnel supporting topology, and analyzed the performance of MANET routing protocols. This result can be used as a basis to select a MANET routing protocol in underground tunnel environment and other mine of the Korea Coal Corporation.
Resource Allocation and Transmission Control Scheme using Window-Based Dynamic Bandwidth Smoothing Method

Recently, many of researches on stream transmission for satisfying each of different real-time transmission condition of the multimedia data that demands various service quality through high-speed networks have been studied actively. In this paper, we design a scheme that discriminately reserves the network resources for the transmission of each multimedia application and propose a bandwidth allocation scheme for improving the utilization ratio of free resources. And we also propose a pipelining scheme for providing flexible real-time transmission. The proposed schemes can be used to support a real-time transmission by applying feedback transmission control method based on receiving buffer for guaranteeing the synchronization conditions requested by the multimedia data. Moreover, we propose a transmission control scheme that can take the amount of network resources down to the minimum amount within the range of permissible error-range under the guarantee with no quality degradation simultaneously when the bottleneck is caused by the network congestion. Finally, we propose a dynamic bandwidth smoothing scheme that can smooth the maximum bandwidth to the demand of each video steam for giving continuous transmission to the delay sensitive video steam between senders and receivers.
The Calculation of the Exact BER of UWB-TH BPSK Communication systems with the Multiple User Interference

The bit error probability of UWB Time-Hopping(TH) multiple access communication systems combined with BPSK is calculated with a high accuracy including the multiple user interference(MUI). This paper finds that with some manipulations, the TH-BPSK UWB signal can be modified to the similar form of the DS-CDMA signal. The MUI in the system is explained by the characteristic function technique. Above two descriptions have been bases on the derivation of the exact BER expression of the system. We also propose the approximate expression for the BER, which has enough accuracy compared with the expression from the Gaussian approximation of the MUI. The comparison of the results from the proposed expressions with the simulation results gives the confirmation for the validity and accuracy of the proposed expressions.
Efficient and Practical Appraoch to Check Certificate Revocation Status of the WLAN Authentication Server's Public Key

WLAN user authentication is mostly based on user password resulting in vulnerability to the notorious 'offline dictionary attack'. As a way around this problem. EAP-TTLS and PEAP protocols are increasing finding their way into WLANs, which are a sort of combination of password protocols and the TLS public-key protocol. This leads to the use of the public-key certificate of the WLAM authentication server, and naturally the concern arises about its revocation status. It seems, however, that any proper soulution has not been provided to address this concern. We propose a very efficent and proper solution to check the certificate revocation status.
Multimedia Ad Hoc Wireless LAMs with Distributed Channel Allocation Based on OFDM-CDMA

We propose a new resource management scheme, Distributed Channel Allocation Protocol (DCAP), for multimedia Ad Hoc Wireless LANs (AWLANS). This scheme implements a Qualify-of-Service (QoS) providing distributed resource management on the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing-Code Division Multiple Access (OFDM-CDMA) channel architecture. According to the performance evaluation results for MPEG traffic sources, DCAP can be a good choice of resource management scheme for AWLANs supporting multimedia services on the Broadband Wireless Access(BWA)-type physical layer.
A Study on Efficient Transmission Rate Control of ABR Traffic in PNNI Networks

In this paper, we analyze previous flow control algorithm for serving ABR traffic, and then propose the algorithm which calculate fair transmission rate and control efficiently ABR traffic using VS/VD switch which has an effect on PNNI environment with long delay. For getting the transmission rate, the proposed algorithm use FMMRA as ER scheme which calculate exactly the fair share. And, in large delay state, we can obtain fair cell sharing by calculating transmission rates which obtained by transmitted queue length information of VD to VS for serve and drain cell in queue Through the computer simulation, we evaluate the performance of proposed algorithm. According to the results, the proposed algorithm shows good performance.
Extension RSVP Analysis for QoS on MPLS Networks

In the NGN, QoS must be offered. We try to apply QoS technology and MPLS which makes them possible to support rapidly increasing traffic and franc engineering to maintain steady infra to the environment of MPLS traffic engineering. In this paper, we supplement the defect of the traditional MPLS traffic engineering and apply the technology of QoS. To construct far more steady infra, we suggest the way of its development and advanced protocol(ERSVP) compared to traditional protocol.
Voice Activity Detection in Noisy Environment based on Statistical Nonlinear Dimension Reduction Techniques

This Paper proposes the likelihood-based nonlinear dimension reduction method of the speech feature parameters in order to construct the voice activity detecter adaptable in noisy environment. The proposed method uses the nonlinear values of the Gaussian probability density function with the new parameters for the speec/nonspeech class. We adapted Likelihood Ratio Test to find speech part and compared its performance with that of Linear Discriminant Analysis technique. In experiments we found that the proposed method has the similar results to that of Gaussian Mixture Models.
Stable and Easily Parallizable Cloth Animation Method

Implicit Integration has become a standard approach to efficient cloth animation, and it guarantees the stability of the system so that large steps can be used. Therefore, it is regarded as the best method for the real-time or interactive animation of cloth. Since the implicit method was introduced for stable cloth animation, various cloth animation techniques based on the method have been proposed. It is now possible to generate the real-time animation of cloth model with thousands of mass-point in general PC environments. Although the implicit method guarantees the stability, the implementation of the implicit method is generally more difficult than that of the explicit method. Even worse, it is very difficult to parallelize the computation process of the implicit method. The cloth animation with implicit method can be formalized as a linear system solving. In this paper we propose an stable and efficient cloth animation techniques based on the implicit method. The proposed method can be easily parallelized. Self-collision is another important issue in cloth animation, we also propose an efficient self-collision avoidance techniques.
Implementation of Bi-directional Broadcasting System Using Interaction Channel

In this paper. we design and implement a bi-directional broadcasting system, so called return channel server, to allow users to participate in a broadcasting program by using a hi-directional interaction channel. To provide user participation in a program and reflect the user's opinions or responses in real time, the return channel server can be viewed as consisting of four major functional modules: a control module, network interface module, DBMS module, and real-time content authoring module. To construct a return channel server that has a service independent architecture, we designed a return channel server to include the hierarchical structure. The presented return channel server consists of two parts: an RCSAE(return channel server application environment) and RCSA(return channel server application). An RCSA is composed of an execution code and a parameter for executing the execution code. RCSA defines the procedures for providing a specific broadcasting program using the return channel server. On the other hand, an RCSAE provides the environment for the execution of RCSAS. By adopting RCSAE and RCSA, we construct the return channel server that has a service-independent architecture which are shown by the test.
A Video Conference System using Multimedia Data and Screen Sharing Methods

Error Resilience Method of MPEG-2 Header Parameters by using LSB Coding for Robust DTV Video Transmission

MPEG-2 achieves high compression radio, by exploiting the temporal and spatial correlations in real image sequence, using the motion compensated prediction and the transform coding, respectively. However, as the image sequence is more highly compressed, the encoded bitstream becomes more vulnerable to transmission error over the noisy channels. Furthermore, er개rs in the headers are fatal to decoding processes, because the header parameters in the video coding standard include a lot of important information connected to the syntax elements, fables, and decoding process. In this paper, we propose a new error resilience method using LSB coding for header parameters in MPEG-2 coded video transmissions. The experimental results for football and susie video sequence demonstrate that the proposed error resilience method for header parameters in MPEG-2 bitstream has good performance.
Compression efficiency improvement on JPEG2000 still image coding using improved Set Partitioning Sorting Algorithm

With the increasing use of multimedia technologies, image compression requires higher performance as well as new functionality. Specially, in the specific area of still image encoding, a new standard, JPEG2000 was developed. This paper proposed Set Partitioning Sorting Algorithm that uses a method to optimized selection of threshold from feature of wavelet transform coefficients and to removes sign bit in LL area on JPEG2000. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm achieves more improved bit rate.
Hardware Implementation of FPGA-based Real-Time Formatter for 3D Display

In this paper, we propose real-time 3D image converting architecture by a unit of pixel for 2D/3D compatible PC and LCD of cellular phone with parallax burier, and implement a system for overall display operation after designing a circuit based on FPGA. After digitizing anolog image signal from PC, we recompose it to 3D image signal according to input image type. Since the architecture which rearranges 2D image to 3D depends on parallax burier, we use interleaving method which mixes pixels by a unit of R, G, and B cell. The propose architecture is designed into a circuit based on FPGA with high-speed memory access technique and use 4 SDRAMs for high performance data storing and processing. The implemented system consists of A/D converting system, FPGA system to formatting 2D signal to 3D, and LCD panel with parallax barrier, for 3D display.
Implementation of Muti-channel Serial Device of Embedded Linux System for Remote Control Monitoring System

A Multi-channel serial device using the embedded Linux system is designed for a remote controlling and monitoring system. The proposed device consists of a FIFO, a state machine, and an interrupter. The device program written in embedded Linux enables the effective programming of device. While the conventional multi-channel serial devices accesses every individual serial devices, the proposed device accesses the multi-channel serial device as if it is a single serial device. The device efficiently performs the multi-channel serial input/output operation and has fast access time than the conventional multi-channel serial device.
Development of Orofacial Pains Therapy System based on Acupuncture Principles

We developed an orofacial pains diagnosis/therapy system which can enlarge a therapy effect through a new stimulation. Through clinical demonstration, experimented on among patients-namely dental pain patients, joint disorders patients, and trigeminal neuralgia patients to verification of system. In result, an EAST stimulater had a very low change of abnormal potential against normal potential before/after being placed under medical care. DDTS-1 showed obvious differences that two potentials are one and the same potential or one potential is similar to the other one. DDTS-1 comparing with EAST showed the remedial value of the comparative advantage in all the medical treatment of pains. Therefore, stimulation of DDTS-1 is more effective than the existing electric stimulation. We verified its validity of ion charge absorption in the human body using capacitor which presented the present thesis. That is, we verified theoretical adequacy of control action in a pain, and its efficiency as well as confidence.
Development of a Low frequency Operating Electronic Ballast for Fish Attracting Lamps

This paper dealt with the design and fabrication of a low frequency electronic ballast for ruh attracting lamps. The proposed electronic ballast was composed of a full-wave rectifier, a step don converter operated as a constant power controled current source, an inverter operated by 130 Hz square wave, and an ignition circuit. An acoustic resonance phenomenon of discharge lamps could be eliminated by application of 130 Hz square wave. Also, a circuit of high voltage pulse generation for lamp ignition was added to the ballast. From the experimental results, voltage and current of the lamp operated by the electronic ballast were estimated 132.5 V and 7.6 A, respectively. and the power consumption was about 1,000 W. The weight of the ballast, which is one of important advantages, was reduced to one-fifth of conventional magnetic ballasts.
Design and Implementation of An Automatic Nutrient Solution Control System

In this study, an nutrient solution control system have been designed and implemented, which controls the density of nutrient and the nutrient supply automatically using embedded real time operating system and fuzzy control algorithm. The factors which affect the growth of crop consist of solar radiation, external temperature, and external humidity. Also, nutrient temperature, electric conductivity(ED, and pH are monitored. According to the surveyed results, a fuzzy control algorithm for nutrient control is developed in order to control the density of nutrient and the nutrient supply. The exclusive embedded controller which consists of an embedded real time operating system, a korean LCD, and a graphic is developed for common users.

A Modular On-the-fly Round Key Generator for AES Cryptographic Processor

Generating fast round key in AES Rijndael algorithm using three key sizes, such as 128, 192, and 256-bit keys is a critical factor to develop high throughput AES processors. In this paper, we propose on-the-fly round key generator which is applicable to the pipelined and non-pipelined AES processor in which cipher and decipher nodes must be implemented on a chip. The proposed round key generator has modular and area-and-time efficient structure implemented with simple connection of two key expander modules, such as key_exp_m and key_exp_s module. The round key generator for non-pipelined AES processor with support of three key lengths and cipher/decipher modes has about 7.8-ns delay time under 0.25um 2.5V CMOS standard cell library and consists of about 17,700 gates.
A Novel Built-In Self-Test Circuit for 5GHz Low Noise Amplifiers

This paper presents a new low-cost Built-In Self-Test (BIST) circuit for 50Hz low noise amplifier (LNA). The BIST circuit is designed for system-on-chip (SoC) transceiver environment. The proposed BIST circuit measures the LNA specifications such as input impedance, voltage gaih, noise figure, and input return loss all in a single SoC environment.
Spatial Gap Estimation for Word Separation in Handwritten Legal Amounts on BAnk Check

An efficient method of estimating the spatial gaps between the connected components has been prposed to separatethe individual words from a handwritten legal amount on bank check. Owing to the inherent problem of underestimation or overestimation, the previous gap measures have much difficulty in being applied to the legal amounts that usually include the great shape variability by writer's unconstrained writing style and touching or irregular gaps between words by space limitation. In order to alleviate such burden and improve word separation performance, we have developed a modified version of each distance measure. Through a series of word separation experiments, we found that the modified distance measures show a better performance with over

A Study on the Voxel Coloring using Multi-variable Thresholding

In this paper, we proposed a advanced approach to resolve the trade-off problem for the threshold value determining the photo-consistency in the previous algorithms. The threshold value for the surface voxel is substituted the photo-consistency value of the inside voxel. As iterating the voxel coloring process, the threshold is approached to the optimal value for the individual surface voxel. we present an energy minimization formulation of the binary labeling problem that surface voxels classify into opacity or transparency. The energy formula consists of the data term and the smoothness term. As considering neighboring voxels in the labeling problem, the unevenness of reconstructed surface is reduced. The labeling whose energy is the global minimum can be computed using a graph cut.
Design and Implementation of Embedded Ethernet Module for Home Network

The necessity of the home network have been enlarged gradually according to the distribution of ultra-high speed internet, the expansion of a digital information equipment and the change of a life pattern. In this paper, we proposed the embedded ethernet module that could be operate on eight bit system, but it could control home appliance with full ethernet speed. The embedded ethernet module consists of 8051 MCU and Hardware TCP/IP. In this module, we construct simple web server and port remote control program for I/O device control. We verified through internet that the developed embedded ethernet module could control and check home appliances anywhere and anytime. We expect the developed ethernet module can build up niche market at home network. And it will be helpful to activate home network market.
A Study on High-Repetition Rate Optical-Pulse for Loop-Mirror

This paper is studied the high-repetition rate optical-pulse stream generation using optical loop mirror coupler. With the recent development of the ultrahigh-speed optical time division multiplexed system, hish-repetition rate optical-pulse stream generation is necessary. This is different from conventional approaches, which use fiber or integrated waveguide delay line circuits. The high-repetition-rate optical-pulse multiplication phenomenon occurs when the optical pulse's spectral width is greater than the transfer bandwidth of the coupler used. From the analysis, the output repetition rate can be controlled by using fiber couplers with different equivalent transfer bandwidths. The pulse separation spacing is controlled by number of cascaded coupler in optical loop mirror coupler scheme.
Characteristics of Bit Error Rate dependence on the Position of Optical Phase Conjugator in 320 Gbps WDM System

In this paper, optimal position of optical phase conjugator (OPC) for best compensating distorted WDM channels due to both chromatic dispersion and self phase modulation (SPM) in
Gbps WDM systems is numerically investigated, and the eye opening penalty (EOP) and bit error rate (BER) characteristics of overall WDM channels at this position is investigated, comparing with that in case of OPC placed at mid-way of total transmission length. It is confirmed that the compensation extents in WDM system with OPC is more improved by the shifting OPC position from the mid-way of total transmission length, depending on the modulation format and fiber dispersion coefficient. Ant it is confirmed that, from a viewpoint of the reception performance, EOP of each channel is more or less different with one another, but the BER characteristics of overall channels are almost equal.
Schema Conflict Resolution Method on Content Integration Management System

We must have a schema conflict resolution method for integrating local schema on content integration and management system. But The Past method is inconsistent and depends on local and global databases. In this paper, we propose the management method of schema confilct using XML that can represent and interchange the structual information of schema.
An Intelligent Reservation Algorithm for Workload Distribution

We proposes an algorithm of measuring computation loads to distribute workload of clients. The key of the algorithm is to transfer a suitable amount of processing demand from senders to receivers in relocating intrinsically. This amount is determined dynamically during sender-receiver negotiations. Factors considered when this amount is determined include processing speeds of different nodes, the current load state of both sender and receiver, and the processing demands of tasks eligible for relocation. We also propose a load state measurement scheme which is designed particularly for heterogeneous systems. Based on this analysis, we design new algorithm for supporting heterogeneous distributed web server system, and compare their performance against other existing algorithms. We show that the new algorithm improve the performance of CPU utilization and response time.
GA-based Two Phase Method for a Highly Reliable Network Design

Generally, the network topology design problem, which is difficult to solve with the classical method because it has exponentially increasing complexity with the augmented network size, is characterized as a kind of NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem. The problem of this research is to design the highly reliable network topology considering the connection cost and all-terminal network reliability, which can be defined as the probability that every pair of nodes can communicate with each other. In order to solve the highly reliable network topology design problem minimizing the construction cost subject to network reliability, we proposes an efficient two phase approach to design reliable network topology, i.e., the first phase employs, a genetic algorithm (GA) which uses
number for encoding method and backtracking Algorithm for network reliability calculation, to find the spanning tree; the second phase is a greedy method which searches the optimal network topology based on the spanning ree obtained in the first phase, with considering 2-connectivity. finally, we show some experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our two phase approach.
