Assessment for Static and Fatigue Strength of the Aluminum Alloy for LNG Ship

Liquefied Natural Gas is liquefied at the condition of atmosphere pressure and cryogenic temperature. LNG is exposed very long time under the cryogenic temperature and high pressure, and it is very important to retain the structural safety in this envelopment. Until now, the material which are composing the storage tank of LNG ship has experimented at room temperature, so it is not enough to apply for the design at the cryogenic temperature. The purposes of this study are investigated mechanical properties for aluminum alloy. To evaluate tensile and fatigue test for aluminum alloy, it was considering static and fatigue conditions at room and cryogenic temperature. S-N curves were designed at both temperature respectively. Also, P-S-N curve was performed statistical method by JSME-S002.
A Study on Application of ECO Driving Pattern of Electric Multiple Unit in ATO System (Focus on Simulation Results)

This study focuses on finding ECO driving patterns which consider driving safety of the ATO system train and reliability and which optimize efficiency of the driving energy consumption. Research results derived by performing simulation of those 5 models show that the emergency braking which affects safety of passenger and the machinery is minimized, and safe driving speed is maintained by the prohibition of drastic acceleration/deceleration, coasting and constant-speed driving. Therefore if this result is applied to the urban railway train by amending or making ATO program to save energy usage that improve environmental quality, its effects as ECO driving pattern is huge.
The Variation of the Slip Resistance with Wear of Floor

All most of floors can become less slip resistant with wear. The deterioration of slip resistance can often occur rapidly. So relatively new products can become hazardous within a short period of time. The main objective of this study was the comparison of slip resistance variations caused by traffic wear and accelerative wear. The second objective was to ascertain the effect of wear, and to find out the causes of slip resistance change. Although statistical differences were observed between results of traffic wear and accelerative wear, the trend of the variations of slip resistance caused by traffic wear and accelerative wear was very similar. The measured slip resistance of tested floor changed up to 29%(and 26.5%) after 100,000 steps(and 750 cycles). As the traffic wear and accelerative wear were progressed, the surface roughness of the tested floor became smoother, and so the floor became more slippery under the wet condition. The abraded(worn out) floor surface tended to become hydrophilic surface, while the new floor surface tended to show hydrophobic nature. This phenomenon would change the wettability of floor surface, and the wettability would affect the variation of slip resistance.
A Study on the Safety Assessment and Damage Pattern of Water Purifier Compressors

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the safety assessment of a water purifier when water leaks due to inappropriate maintenance and the examination of the cause of accidents related to the leak. Due to its inspection and management by non-specialists, if a leak occurs in a water purifier with the water level controller being inclined, it may result in the failure of the compressor, power supply line, PCB, etc. The analysis of the thermal diffusion pattern of water purifier compressors using a thermal image camera shows that its maximum temperature was approximately
. In addition, its operating current was a maximum of 13 A and the system's operating current was approximately 1.7 A after the compressor was charged. It was found that the housing type power cable cover of the compressor had the effect of preventing electric shock but has poor flame resistance. Furthermore, the performance of the overload protector, PTC relays, etc., was excellent but they have potential for problems as metallic terminals were exposed, resulting in the potential of a safety related accident. The terminals and their surface damaged by the tracking showed a trace of carbonization and the resistance between terminals was measured to be approximately
. In addition, while the tracking was proceeding, the fuse and circuit breaker installed for system protection did not operate.
Risk Factors Related to Photo Couplers(P/C) for Signal Transmission by Electronic Devices

The purpose of this study is to find risk factors by analyzing the operation principle of a photo coupler (P/C) used to remove the noise of electronic devices and establish a base for the performance improvement of developed products. It was found from the P/C circuit analysis of normal products that they were equipped with an electrolytic condenser of
to smooth system signals. Due to the epoxy resin packing the external part of the P/C, this study experienced a limit to visually examine the damage to it. It could be seen from the analysis of electric characteristics of the P/C that the forward voltage (
) and reverse current (
) were 1.3 V and 10 uA, respectively. In addition, it is required that the breakdown voltage (VCE) between the collector (C) and emitter (E) be maintained at less than 35 V. The and of the damaged product #1 were comparatively good. However, the measurement of was 100.0 uA. From this, it is thought that a short circuit occurred to the internal circuit. Moreover, from the fact that the of the damaged product #2 was open circuit and the measurement of was 0.0 uA, it is thought that the collector and emitter was separated or insulation resistance was significantly high. Furthermore, from the fact that the of the damaged product #3 was open circuit and the measurement of was 0.0 uA, it is thought that the space between the collector (C) and emitter (E) failed to meet the design standard or that they were separated. Therefore, it is thought that fabricating the P/C by increasing the reverse current 10 mA to 50 mA will prevent its malfunction.
A Study on the Light Weight Hand Lamp for Explosion-Proof Type

For lighting of dark and hazardous workplace such as compartment of ships under construction, workers should use hand lamps of explosion-proof type. However, the heavy weight of such lamps has prevented most impatient workers from using such types of lamps extensively. In this paper, we developed a light weight hand lamp of intrinsic safety type which reduced the weight a lot while maintaining or improving the lighting and explosion-proof function. We made a prototype which consisted of lamp fixture and high frequency power supply. Testing results show that the hand lamp meets well all the explosion-proof testing requirements of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. And more, we surveyed the explosion protection technology of a light weight hand lamp, and suggested the advantage/disadvantage to apply lighting of hand lamp about economical aspect.
Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs) Sensing Properties of Thin Films Based on Copper phthalocyanine and Dilithium phthalocyanine Compounds

In this work, we report the effect on the volatole organic compounds(VOCs) sensing properties of Copper phthalocyanine(CoPc) and Dilithium phthalocyanine(DiLiPc) thin films onto alumina substrates. Use evaporation method and the spin-coated method for sensing device. The materials of metallophthalocyanine macrocyclic compound solutions blended with N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(1-naphthyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4"-diamine and/or Poly[2-methoxy-5-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] solutions. The influence of the blended in with metallophthalocyanine macrocyclic compounds on the resistance have been measured and analyzed in five different volatole organic compounds. The following results were obtained: The AFM 3D image of thin films deposited on metallophthalocyanine macrocyclic compound shows that the surfaces roughness were about CuPc 4.1~14.3 nm(7.5~8.1%), DiLiPc 10.3~22.2 nm(7.9~11.5%). The resistances decreases upon increasing the concentration of vapor organic compounds to CuPc and DiLiPc thin films. That thin films blended Copper phthalocyanine(CoPc) and Dilithium phthalocyanine(DiLiPc) with N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(1-naphthyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4"-diamine and/or Poly[2-methoxy--5-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene]. The resistances of blended thin films with N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(1-naphthyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4"-diamine and/or Poly[2-methoxy--5-(2'-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] decreases upon increasing the concentration of volatole organic compounds(VOCs) on DiLiPc than CuPc compound thin films.
Suppression Characteristics of the Nitrogen-diluted Methane Counterflow Non-premixed Flame

, was diluted in the air-stream to investigate the suppression characteristics by the agent. For numerical simulation, an one-dimensional OPPDIF code was used for comparison with experimental results. An optically-thin radiation model(OTM) was adopted to consider radiation effects on the suppression characteristics. It was confirmed experimentally and numerically that suppression limit decreased with increasing nitrogen mole fraction in the fuel stream. A turning point was found only when a radiation heat loss was considered and the extinguishing concentration for turning point was differently predicted compared to the experiment result. Critical extinguishing concentration when neglecting radiation heat loss was also differently predicted compared with the experimental result.
The Minimum Autoignition Temperature Behavior(MAITB) of n-Decane and Acetic acid Mixture

The autoignition temperature(AIT) is important index for the safe handling of flammable liquids which constitute the solvent mixtures. This study measured the AITs and ignition delay time for n-Decane and Acetic acid system by using ASTM E659 apparatus. The AITs of n-Decane and Acetic acid which constituted binary system were
, respectively. The experimental AITs of n-Decane and Acetic acid system were a good agreement with the calculated AITs by the proposed equations with a few A.A.D.(average absolute deviation). And n-Decane and Acetic acid system was shown the minimum autoignition temperature behavior(MAITB).
Strength Evaluation of UHPFRC Flexural Member by Analytical Method

The analytical model was constituted to evaluate the flexural strength of UHPFRC(ultra high performance fiber reinforced concrete) member. The analytical approach was attemped to study the effect of the joint and the result compared with the experimental study to verify the analytical model. The calculated value tends to underestimate about 23%~25% in comparison with the experimental result of the jointed test member because the bond stress between precast UHPFRC and cast-in-place UHPFRC surface is not considered in the analytical model. But in the case of the continuous test member, the analytical model provides reasonable results for the flexural strength of UHPFRC member.
A Study on the Awareness of Safety and Health for Practical Application of Risk Assessment in Construction Industries -Focused on Worker-

On the basis of the guideline "2012-104(2012.9.26.)" notified by the ministry of employment and labor, this paper provided the baseline data and the improvement proposal in applying risk assessment to a construction site by group interview & survey of construction workers. The worker's awareness and action plan of safety and health were investigated by numerical analysis. From the result of group interview and the survey of construction workers, it was found that most of construction workers feel the danger during the work. The results also shows that risk assessment can help to change & raise the awareness of safety and to reduce the industrial disaster. In addition, simple safety management activity such as TBM & active education of safety will be necessary for safe workspace and the active TBT(tool box talk) which combines TBM & the education of safety will be also effective.
The Effects of Safety Leadership of Manager and Safety Climate in the Organization on the Workers' Safety Behaviors

This study examined the influence of safety leadership of manager and safety climate of the organization on the workers' safety behavior. Especially, this study examined a mediating effect of safety climate on the relationship between safety leadership and safety behaviors. 219 workers were asked to respond to the questionnaires that measured various demographic variables, safety climate, safety leadership and safety behaviors. A hierarchical regression was conducted to identify variables that had significant relationships with safety behaviors and to examine the mediating effect of safety climate. Results indicated that the safety leadership significantly predicted both safety compliance and participation behavior. It was found that the safety climate was also a significant predictor for both safety compliance and participation behavior. In addition, safety climate had a mediating effect on the relationship between safety leadership and safety compliance and participation behavior. Based on these results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
Fundamental Study for Ergonomic Design of Sailing Yacht

Leisure activities alter overland tourism into marine tourism according to a rise in national income. It is expected that the leisure boat with period of introduction in marine tourism will be developed rapidly. It needs to unite with marine technology, optimized layout design, interior design and so on in order to build a yacht of high quality. Because optimized layout design and interior design technique increase the added value of the yacht, it needs to be convergence technology between Ergonomics, Sensibility Ergonomics, and design technique. In this study, we analyzed traffic line of crews in a sailing yacht and assessed working posture using OWAS, RULA and REBA tools. Also we suggested tips of Ergonomic design in the sailing yacht.
An Empirical Study of Influence Relationship on Traffic Culture Index(TCI) utilizing PLS-SEM(Structural Equation Modeling)

The traffic culture index is used as a major index in evaluating the traffic safety services of local governments and also serve as important data for the planning and implementation of traffic safety services. However, as the traffic culture index gradually became a standard for comparison among local governments, in part, certain cases arose which questioned the grounds for selecting variables for the index and the validity of the index in terms of its influential relationship between evaluation items. This study analyzed the index's influential relationship by utilizing a PLS structural equation model based on the evaluation results of the 2011 traffic culture index. A variable-linking model was created which recognized the relativity taking into account of the indirect effects between latent variables and this model was proven to be a model suitable in explaining the traffic culture index with a 97.8% explanation power. It was found that traffic safety(0.530), driving behavior(0.527), pedestrian behavior(0.187) and vulnerable road users(0.147), in such order, had an effect on the traffic culture index. It was also found that human casualties due to traffic accidents under "traffic safety" and traffic light compliance rate under "driving behavior" had an important effect. The study showed that motor vehicle share in illegal parking in school zones did not have a valid explanation power regarding "vulnerable road users".
A Study on the Role of Safety and Health of Supervisors in Small to Medium-sized Industries

National industrial accidents, most recently occurred in the small to medium-sized industries. These companies' management for the prevention of industrial accidents, the role of the supervisor has emerged as an important issue. Small to medium-sized industries to enhance their effectiveness in the prevention of industrial accidents supervisors of work status survey and direct interviews were conducted. Proposal paper was based on the results of analysis for the role of supervisors by providing safety and health work systematically to participate.
