A Experimental Study on the Performance of Filter-integrated Half-masks

This study is conducted to experiment on the performance test for 20 types of Filter-integrated Half-masks which could not only protect workers exposed to dusty environment, but also improve workability. Results and conclusions are as follows ： 1) Respirators that removal efficiency of aerosols is 95 percent or more are 11 kinds(55%), and those who are 99.9 percent or more are 4 kinds(20%). Respirators that inhalation resistance is 4 mm in water or less are 13 kinds(65%), and those who are 6 mm in water or less are 17 kinds(85%). Respirators that efficiency of cumulative inhalation resistance is 100 percent or less are 11 kinds(55%) . 2) Respirators that resistance of moisture inhalation is 6 mm in water or less are 11 kinds(55%). and those who are 10 mm in water or less are 13 kinds(65cio), Respira'tors that ratio of removal efficiency for aerosols between dry and wet conditions is 95 percent or more are 9 kinds(45%). 3) Respirators which are not only 95 percent or more for removal efficiency of aersosls and 6 mm in water or less for inhalation resistance, but also 200 percent or less for efficiency of cumulative inhalation resistance, are 8 kinds(40％). Respirators which are not only 99.9 percent or more for removal efficiency and 6 mm in water or less for inhalation resistance, but also 100 percent or less for efficiency of cumulative inhalation resistance, are 3 kinds(15%). Respirators which are not only 95 percent or more for removal efficiency of aerosols and 6 mm in water or less for inhalation resistance, but also 200 percent or less for efficiency of cumulative inhalation resistance and 10 mm in water or less for resistance of moisture inhalation, are 6 kinds(30％) . 4) As standard rrlodel of artificial human head which would be perhaps different from the true one Is used to experiment fitness test, leakage rate is shown to be more or less high. However, artificial human head shall be accurately examined and follow-up studt. would be conducted in the future.
A Study on a Quantitative Measurement of Contact Pressure Between two Rough Flat SurFaces by Means of Ultrasonic Waves.

It is important to have exact information about the contact pressure distribution in the design of connected parts of machines and structures. In previous works, stress analyses on a two body contact problem have been carried out in large numbers. Besides, the measurement of contact stress is important to confirm the adequateness of the theoretical analysis, to verify appropriateness of Hertzian contact theory and to know the practical pressure distribution, but an excellent measuring method con't be found at present. Therefore, a quantitative measurement of contact pressure by means of ultrasonic waves using a normal probe and an angle has been proposed to measure the contact pressure distribution between two rough flat surfaces. At first, in a new proposed calibration method, the relation between mean contact pressure and sound pressure of reflected waves is obtained by using calibration blocks with various surface roughnesses made of the same material as the rectangular section beams And then, this experimental results are compared with the analytical ones, and the utility of this method is discussed.
A Study on the Standardization of Test Method of Flat-Plate Liquid-heating Solar Collectors

Standardization of solar collector test method is desirable for improvement solar collector quality and Valuation of collector thermal performance. In the present work, test loop proposed by Chun, is modified for convenience of test and obtained accurate collector thermal performance. An experimental investigation hat been carried out with a modified collector test loop under a real sun condition in order to confirm the utility of modified test loop and study the effect of variation of flow rate on thermal efficiency, the range of optimum flow rate and critical incident angle.
A Study on the Temperature Distribution of Welding Zone in Carbon Steel

In this study, the transient temperature distribution of welded zone was analyzed by Finite Element Method for the optimal design of weldment. This study was carried out for the steel plate 8mm thick, 100mm wide, 100mm long that butt weld. The weld was made with a heat input of 2,250 joule/cm(arc current ： 180 amperes ； arc voltage ：25 volts ； and arc travel steed ： 0.28 cm/sec). In the analysis of temperature, cooling in the welded zone by the conduction between materal was almost completed at 600 sec when a unique temperature field was formed. after this, the material was gradually cooled by the heat transfer to the circumference. In the early phase the temperature in base metal zone is little changed. but after the rise in temperature the whole area is cooled gradually.
Transport of Phenol in Waste Water Through Liquid Surfactant Membrane

The transport of phenol from waste water through the liquid surfactant membrane containing Aliquat 336 as a carrier was analyzed by a theoretical model. Extraction experiments was carried out to investigate the effect of process parameters, such as mixing intensity, concentration of sodium hydroxide in internal aqueous solution, and counter anions, and initial phenol concentration in waste water at
. It was found that transport rate of phenol increased with increasing pH differents. The transport rate of phenol in waste water was influenced by counter anions.
A Study on the Theoretical Analysis of Human Body Approximation to Special High Voltage Eletric Lines

This study is conducted to examine the theoretical background of characteristics for electric shock encountered in special high-voltage electric lines among the accidents of electric shock, and to calculate applied current to human body and field strength over the head by means of numerical anaysis through FEM(Finite Element Method), and to make clear the hazard level to the human body, and to establish the approach limit distance of human body to the electric lines, which could be applied to the safety standard while working in the vicinity of special high-voltage electric lines.
A Study on Response Time Index for Sprinkler Head

This study describes the engineering approach adopted to investigate sprinkler head during the early stage of a fire when they are subjected to convective heating and low gas velocities. Comparions are made between the parameters derived using basic methods, ie. ramp test, for evaluating sprinkler parameters(time constant, response time index) is illustrated. Evidence is presented that the propotion of heat loss by conduction from a sprinkler element may very typically employed in the rate of rise test. This fact alone may justfy the precautionary need to perform a limited number of rate of rise tests to confirm a sprinklers capacity to function correctly in reasonably unfavourable yet realistic conditions. The work is aimed primarily at meeting the needs of sprinkler industry.
A Study on Analysis of Causes for Fatal Accidents

This study is conducted to analyze exact causes of occupational fatalities and results are as follows ： 1) The number of fatalities in establislment which employed less than 50 workers is 605(40.1％ ). Age of sixties and seventies is occupied by 10 percent with there being old-aged trend. Fatal workers who were employed less than 3 months are 39.5 percent and fatal workers who were employed more than 10 years are 11.9 percent. Safety training is necessary for newly recruited and long employed workers. 2) Accident type is, in sequence, fall from elevation, traffic accident, disease, contact with electric current, and hazardous condition is, in order, inadequate guard, hazardous method or procedure, public hazard, and agency of accident is, in sequence, temporary structure/building/structure, powered transport vehicle, passenger vehicle, hoisting or lifting apparatus, and unsafe act is, in order, driving error, failure to secure or warn. 3) The results of cross-tabulation for hazardous condition and accident type is, in sequence, traffic accident by public hazard, fall from elevation by hazardous method or procedure, fall from elevation as well as contact with elctric current by inadequate guard. The result of cross-tabulation for agency of accident and accident type is, in order, fall from elevation by temporary structure/building/structure, traffic accident of passenger vehicle and powered transport vehicle, contact with electric apparatus. The result of cross-tabulation for agency of accident and hazardous condition is, in sequence, public hazard of passenger vehicle, hazardous method or procedure of temporary structure/building/structure, publit hazard of powered transport vehicle, inadequate guard of temporary structure/building/structure. The result of cross-tabulation for unsafe act and accident type is, in sequence, traffic accident by driving error, fall from elevation by inattention to footing or surrounding, contact with electric current by secure or warn.
A Study on the Effect of Various Brominated Flame Retardants and the Compatibilities Between Polymer and Flame Retardants in PC/ABS Blend System

The effects of various brominated flame retardants were investigated in PC/ABS blend system. The compatibilities between polymers and flame retardants were expected with the solubility parameter using group contribution theory. Tetrabromobisphenol A carbonate oligomer, among the flame retardants in this experiment, has been shown good miscibility for PC and ABS, respectively. But polydibromophenylene oxide and octabromodiphenyl oxide has immiscibility. The flame retardant PC/ABS blends containning tetrabromobisphenol A carbonate oligomer have been exhibited higher mechanical properties, tensile strengths and notch Izod impact strengths, at varlous content of flame retardants, than containning other flame retardants. It could be seen that the trends of mechanical properties for the flame retardant PC/ABS blends have a good concidence with the expectation of compatibility.
