Combustibility of Cellulose Insulation Treated with Boric acid-Borax-Aluminium sulfate Formulation

The smouldering combustibility of cellulose insulation treated with boric acid-borax-aluminium sulfate as combustion retardants are examined by cigarette ignition method and electrical cardrige heater method. The effectiveness of Aluminium sulfate as a third combustion are acceptable both smouldering resistance and flame resistance at 18% level of all examined formulation. As the proportion of Aluminium sulfate in the formulation was increased, the flame resistance of cellulose insulation was improved.
A Study on Grinding Temperature in High Effect Grinding

The purpose of this reserch is to suggest grinding temperature for high effect grinding and to clarify the sufficient grinding heat by experiment and theory(developed finite element program). Main results to be obtained are as follows : 1) The grinding temperature distribution by F. E. M is comparatively in good apreement with the experimental results. 2) The up cut grinding method of grinding methods is decreased burning effect. 3) Regardless of the table speed on the temperature distribution in grinding surface layer, cooling effect is about 6-8times when developed nozzle is used.

Surface treatment and chemiluminescence characteristics of the polymer film. It was studied that the Intensities and rates of treatments are in proportional to condition of the treatment, considering the results of study on treatments to polymer film with discharge and ultraviolet irradiation through the methods such as surface resistance, contact angle, dyeing method, solace ten-sion and so on. It was also studied that the said has a nice correlation with the concerned result studied by chemiluminescence. Since the chemiluminescence will enable the Investigators to grasp a eertain condition caused by quitely slight deterioration with high sensitivity, it can be also used as a way for getting an information regarding the decision for degradation-condition and life-estimating of insulation material basically related to some security matters as well as surface condition of treatments through the above method.
A Study on the Development of an Expert System for Chemical Plant Fault Diagnosis - A trouble analyzing system based on Functional Structure -

A methodology to develop an expert system for chemical plant fault diagnosis based on functional-structure of chemical plant is proposed. A methodology to generalize and utilize the heuristic know-edge of plant operators is also developed. A plant can be seen as a Hierarchical set of subsystems. Each subsystem is called a SCOPE. The state of the plant and the behavior of each subsystem is managed by the SCOPES. An expert system based on this functional structure and knowledge base has been developed and ar plied to the subprocess of etylene plant to evaluate the effectiveness of the methodology.
A Study on Autoignition of Granulated Activated Carbon with Change of Ambient Temperature

Sponataneous ignition characteristics for granulated activated carbon were observed by performing experiments at constant ambient temperature and varying the ambient temperature sinusoidally. In case of varying the ambient temperature sinusoidally, the amplitudes of temperature were 5
respectively, and the period in each amplitude was varied at an interval of 30minutes from zero to 3hours. As the results of experiments at a constant ambient temperature, the critical spontaneous ignition temperature of the sample decreased as the sample vessel size increased. Apparent activation energy of the sample calculated from the Frank-Kamenetskii's thermal Ignition theory was 38.82［kca1/mo1］ In case of varying the ambient temperature sinusoidally, the critical spontaneous ignition tempera-ture was lower than that at the constant ambient temperature, and the minimum critical spontaneous ignition temperature decreased with the amplitude of heating sinusoidal curve. At the same amplitude, the critical spontaneous ignition temperature decreased until it reached the minimum point and then in-creased as the period increased.
A study of settlement safety for existing ground with twin tunnel progressing

An engineer designing a tunnel in an urban area should be to predict the magnitude and distribution of ground movements which are important to Investigate the potential damage to the existing structures around tunnel. The present study examines available theories and emprical equations, and tries to investigate quantativily ground movements around tunnel with tunnel progressing. Approcaches to the problem of ground movements associated with twin tunnel was and elasto - plastic finite element method. Typical section in Seoul Subway were selected in numerical study. The analysis and study was done with respect. to surface, subsurface and crown settlements with varying ground conditions, tunnel geommetry and construction conditions.
Resistant Capacity of Longitudinally Traperzoidal Web Section with Opening

Generally, Web & Flange of I shape beam are composed of plane for optimization of measurement in investigating the behavior resistant to horizontal force and bending moment on large section Therefore, longitudinally traperzoidal web section beam has an important function as a body for carrying more load and ensuring more support area. There is only a limited usefulness for analyzing the behavior of web section with opening. It is experimentally verified that this traperzoidal web section has a good resistant caopacity. conclustions on the above research results are as follows : 1) resistant capacity on the above can be more 15% increased than normal case 2) stiffener welding work and complexity of shopdrawing can be excluded in advance 3) traperzoidal section can be applied in structural practice
A Study on the Metallic Surface Roughness Measurement by Laser Diode Beam

A new technique for the measurement of surface roughness based on the Intensity fluctuations of laser light backscattered form a moving surface has been introduced. The developed method will be quite useful for evaluating the surface quality under machining with more detailed Information by detecting the surface roughness along both directions simultaneously.
An Upper Bound Analysis of the Three-Dimensional extrusion of Shapes with the Use of Dual Stream Functions( I )

This paper, discribes analysis of theree - dimensional extrusion with the use of dual stream functions, By this method admissible velocity fields for the extrusion of three- dimensional flow was newly derived kinematically. For square section the extrusion pressure was calculated by numerical solution program which was based on the upper bound analysis. The relationship between relative extrusion pressure and reduction of area, relative die length and constant friction factors were successfully calculated which was newly developed in this study. The results could be applied to design extrusion die.
The development of prototype expert system for fault detection and action priority

The attraction of using expert system in operator support systems for modern plant is that it offers a way of dealing with the problem of information overload that can occur during a severe disturbance at a modern industrial plant. During such a disturance the volume of information presented to operators may be such that they are unable to decide quickly what is important and what is not. Therefore, arriving at a correct diagnosis of the initialling fault may be delayed. An expert system operator sup-port system is a means of focusing attention on what really matters and cutting out the rest. This paper presents the development of prototype expert system which detect the fault part, machine, system and decide action priority. This prototype expert system has 6 sub- system which is Interface Manager, Decision Maker, Inference Engine, Knowledge base, Simulatio, and D.P System ( Diagnosis and predictor)
Analysis of Stability for a Low-Order Characteristic Equation with Perterbed Coefficients

It is shown that for a characteristic equation of continuous linear system, stability can be determined by conditions srggested in this paper. And also It Is of interest to Know how much coefficients of the low-order characteristic equation(N
5) can be perturbed while simutanously preserving the stable condition of the equation. This result is analogous to result by Anderson et al. based on the Kharitonov's conditions and Hermite - Biehler theorem.
Construction of Diagnosis System for Electric-fire Causes using Fuzzy Possibility Measure

This paper presents an study on the knowledge based system for diagnosing the fire causes using the Fuzzy Possibility Measure( FPM ) about the electric-fire ignition. The Ignition values needed for causes diagnosis is computed as FPM for electric-fire ignition based on the internal scale technique that assigns numerically the characteristic difference of facts to the-tin-ear scale. For the convinience of inference, ignition sources are classified into seven types : short, ground fault, leakge of electricity, overcurrent, cord junction overheating, bad Insulation and spark. The system for causes diagnosis of electric-fire is composed of Knowledge Acquisition System, Inference Engine and Man-Machine Interface, The diagnosis system is wrritten in an artificial intelligence langusge “PROLOG” which uses depth-first search and backward chaining schemes in reasoning process.
The Analysis of Two Span Continuous Composite Plate Girder Bridge by ALFD

The main purpose of this study was to determine whether the inelastic moment-rotation character-istics defined by the lower-bound curve permit economical ALFD for noncompact plate gilders. The study was also intended to determine the benefits of improving the moment-rotation to illustrate the ar plication of the ALFD to noncompact plate girders and to show the Influence of various parameters on the design process. To accomplish these objectives, 34 preliminary designs were made by ALFD or LFD or WSD. In the study, this method of analysis is described first. Next, the design procedures are described. Finally, the resulting designs are presented and discussed.
