A Study on the Effect of Exhaust Pipe Length of 4 Cycle 4 Cylinder S.I. Engine on the Performance

In reciprocating internal combustion engine, engine performance Is greatly affected by volumetric efficiency. For gas flow, the dynamic effects caused by the pressure pulsation have influence on the volumetric efficiency and correlate to the configuration and pipe length of intake-exhaust system. In this study, the analytic investigation of the unstudy flow In exhaust pipe has been carried out by using the method of characteristics to predict volumetric efficiency. In conculusion, it is possible to take account of the exhaust pipe tuning effect in predicting the engine performance, by the analytic solution of the unsteady flow in the pipes, and comparision of prediction with experimental datas show a good agreement on the pressure varision in the exhaust pipe which has Influence on the volumetric efficiency and performance of engine.
Stress Analysis of Crank Shaft by Considering Bending and Twisting Moment

This paper an application method of crankshaft of four cylinder internal combustion engine for studying stress analysis of the shaft. For simple analysis, uniform sections of journal, pin and arm parts were assumed. Transfer Metrix Method was used, considering branched part and coordinate transformation part. Bending, twisting moment and stresses of crank shaft were investigated.
A Study on Turbulent Characteristics in Swirling Coaxial Jets

This paper deals with the experimental study of the turbulent characteristics in the swirling coaxial Jets. In this research, the experimental study has been carried out to investigate the effects of swirl number and equivalence ratio on the flow characteristics in nonreacting flow field of the model combustor which symplifys the continuous type combustor for the practical use. Author particularly Intends to find out the fuel-air mixing In the recirculation zone In order to make sure the effects of swirl number and equivalence ratio on the stabilization of flame.
Measurement of Fine Scratches on Metallic Surface by Image Signal

This paper reports a method of measuring surface scratch using microscope and CCD. Included are both the theory of the techique and experimental verification. The range of surface scratch which can be accurately measured by this method is also reported.
A Study on Characteristics and Safety Criteria for Human Body in ELF Electric and Magnetic Fields

This paper presents a study on the characteristics and safety criteria for human body in ELF (Extremely Low Frequency : 50-60Hz) electric and magnetic fields. Many researches for ELF electric and magnetic fields, which are developed in the past, are studied and analyzed In this paper. In order to estabilish the safety criteria for human body in the field, the field intensity, induced current and voltage are calculated by the electrostatic field approach which is far simpler than the electromagnetic field one based on Maxwell equation. The method is applied to the 345 KV transmission line system In operation and 765 KV system under consideration. According to the results, the maximum value of field intensity, 6.8627KV/m, is evaluated at the location which is 14m away from transmission line. As the safety criteria value by the abroad researches asserting that the human can detect the Induced current in 6KV/m and above, 5KV/m and 7KV/m are recommended at residence area and nonresidence area, respectively.
A Study on the Ignition Induction Time and Temperature Distribution at Spontaneous Ignition of Activated Carbon

The spontaneous ignition induction time and temperature distribution were observed by performing experiments for granulated activated carbon. As the results of the experiments at the same amplitude, the critical spontaneous ignition temperature was decreased with increase of the time period, while, the ignition induction time was increased with the increase of the time period. The critical spontaneous ignition temperature was decreased with the increase of the amplitude for the shorter period. The temperature distribution of the sample showed the highest around ignition-point at center of the vessel and after ignition the highest temperature was moved toward surface of the vessel.
Prediction of Upper Flammability Limit of Paraffinic Hydrocarbons by Numerical Simulation

A new model for predicting upper flammability limits( UFL ) of paraffinic hydrocarbons is developed, based on statistics and numerical simulation. With the proposed model, UFL have been calculated for 24 compounds, and when compared with experimental data, this model produced average percent error of 2.96%. When compared to established methods published by Spakowski and Zabetakis, this model produced more accurate results.
The effect of the Ultrasound in recovery of Cu by the Electrochemical deposition

In this study the ultrasound which has the properties of mixing, surface cleaning effect, increasing of the effective reaction surface area and increasing of the effective collision frequency, was used to enhance the recovering efficiency of Cu from the Cu-ion containning waste water. The ultrasonic reactor used in this study was dsigned and constructed for improving the disadvantage of the existing ultrasonic reactor From the experimental result and its analysis. we obtained following conclusions. 1. The ultrasound increased the rate of electrochemical deposition to 582.2% in maximum at the Condition of 0.1M-CuSO
and 2.1V-overpotential. 2. This study gave the possibility of the scale-up of ultrasonic reactor and In particular, ultrasonic reactor would be effective in treatment of waste water contains a low concentration of Cu ion.
Check Models of Human Errors in Structural Design (II)

A large prropotion of structural failures are due to human error at the design stage of a structural engineering project, and many of these failures could have been prevented if there had been proper design checking. Analyses of the data from the 6 engineering firms and 24 professional engineer practitioners are shown on diagrams, also applicated for suggested models; overview checking. And then analyzed results of current work in this area, which examine the effects of error magnitude, are compared to the limit data obtained from the surveys. Overview checking only is analyzed of three typical design checking processes; self checking; Independent detailed checking, and overview checking.
Quantitative assessment of effects of TOUCH & CALL - Effects of reaction method on choice reaction to monitor presented stimuli -

Automation and mechanization of work make people put the machine into operation and watch the state of operations. In the process of those works, they are apt to have accidents caused by their carelessness. To reduce such accidents, we can practise TOUCH and CALL, which Is to Indicate and ascertain the dangerous parts at every process before performing works. The objectives of thls study are to show quantitatively the efficiency of TOUCH & CALL and to examine the effects of S-R compatibility. The results show that reaction time is longer(0.138-0.279sec.) in case of indicating with finge,s and shouting than that of responding only visually. On the other hand, the error rate decreases by 3.3 times-7times. From this, it is considered to verify quantitative estimation on multiple feedback of TOUCH & CALL.
A Study on Detecting and eliminating unsafety Factor Under Uncertaints Simulation

The object of research is detecting and eliminating the unsafty factor in shortest time through a decision making simulation under uncertainty using simulation method The decision making simulation using C language Is used to analyze data from several factors which affects the crane breakdown under unsafe situation. Through this research, the following conclusions are obtained. first, the safety manager or the person can estimate the time required to handle the unsafe factors. Secondly, The decision making can be accomplished by minimizing the time required under uncertainty by analyzing them.
