The analogical reasoning between combat and oriental medicine
Jung, Woo-Jin ;
Journal of Korean Medical classics, volume 19, issue 2, 2006, Pages 1~10
The main purpose of this essay is to shed light on the foundation of the core notion used in oriental medicine. Under the premise that the important notion of oriental medicine has its origin in the culture of the ancient china before B.C.
, we will get to the source notion of oriental medicine by retrospecting the analogical thinking used in the course of forming the main notion of oriental medicine. For the source notion being in various domains, we must search so many domains for example the political system including the offical system, the economic system and so on. But in this essay, we will limit the domain concerned with combat

The Relativity between the Circulating Pattern of the Channels, the Collaterals, and the Movement Distinction of YoungGi, and WiGi
Kang, Dong-Yoon ; Jo, Hak-Jun ;
Journal of Korean Medical classics, volume 19, issue 2, 2006, Pages 30~45
Analyzed the subject of ‘To heart' meridian system(向心服系), and 'Circulating' meridian system(備環服系), and considered relativity between the circulating pattern of the channels, the collaterals and the circulating distinction YoungGi (營氣), WiGi(衛氣). The subject of 'To heart' meridian system is WiGi, and this system is similiar to the moving pattern of the fifteen major collaterals(十五絡服). The subject of 'Circulating' meridian system is YoungGi, and this system is same with the moving pattern of the twelve regular channels(十二經脈). YoungGi and WiGi have the same origin, and they are intrinsic one thing with functional ambivalency. It is WiGi, the subject of the movement of Collateral, because it is identical the moving pattern of Collaterals(絡服) and that of WiGi as the subject of the movement of Collateral. It is YoungGi, the subject of movement of Channel because it is identical the moving pattern of Channels(經服) and that of YoungGi. It can be defined that Wigi as the subject of the movement of Collateral, also YoungGi as the subject of movement of Channel, but that is from i 염 function and action, there's no need to be separated within the framework of going through Meridian. YoungSuBosa(迎隨補鴻) in acupuncture, defines its basis not only on the moving direction of YoungGi, but on combinated difference between the directions, moments, and sex. Until now it is under discussion the rights and wrongs, It's not contradictory concept between two basis of YoungSuBoSa, from the thought the distinct movement of WiGi and the circulation pattern of Collaterals have no specified directions.

Yoshimasu Todo[吉益東洞]‘s medical theory extracted from
Lee, Jeong-Hwan ; Baik, You-Sang ; Jeong, Chang-Hyun ;
Journal of Korean Medical classics, volume 19, issue 2, 2006, Pages 66~73
This study is on Yoshimasu Todo's thoughts of a real doctor and medicine. Conclusions are as below. disease-doctor[疾醫] is a doctor treating diseases by poisonous medicines. His role is different from food-doctor[食醫] who recuperates vital energy by food. Unlike food-doctor, a disease-doctor only detoxicates poisons of diseases by using poisonous medicines. Disease-doctor shall not take credit upon himself for the service of Heaven' s power. This is Yoshimasu Todo's view of a real doctor. Medicine is not an imagination, but a reality. It is the recognition of knowing what can be known and seeing what can be seen The truth of medicine is in ancient words(古語), ancient teachings[古訓] and ancient ways[古法]. To study medicine is not recklessly believing and following the contents of ancient medical texts-
. It is to follow the ancient ways written and left in ancient books and not to follow wrong ways fabricated by after ages. The theories of eum-yang-obaeng(陰陽五行) and o-un-yuggi(五運六氣) are useless to medicine because these are groudless ones. This is Yoshimasu Todo's view of medicine.
A Study on Astronomy(天文) appeared in
Kim, Shin-Hyung ; Jang, Woo-Chang ; Jeong, Chang-Hyun ;
Journal of Korean Medical classics, volume 19, issue 2, 2006, Pages 74~95
recorded The Twenty Eight Constellations(二十八宿), the polaris, the Seven stars(北斗七星) and the Five stars(五星) and it accepted the astronomy of that time. The Twenty Eight Constellations assinged seven stars in the four cardinal points according to the ecliptic and became the criterion obsevering the way of the sun and the moon.
explained that The Twenty Eight Constellations bring about the change of weather and role as criterion about the Universe Gate-Earth Door(天門-地戶). The Five Elementary attachment of the Twenty Eight Constellations is based on the direction of the earth in spring. The direction of the Twenty Eight Constellations changes from the viewpoint of celestial body in other seasons.
explained that the azimuth of the polaris and the Seven stars are related to the change of weather.
said that we can predict the Taegwa(太過 or Bulgeub(不及) of O-un(五運) by the orbital tracks and magnitude of the Five stars. It means that the astronomical observation is correctly performed in that time. The learning of Un-Gi(運氣學) is the study on the reciprocal action of heaven and earth. Besides the changeable disease during the 24 solar terms is related to climatic change produced by movements of heavenly bodies. For this reason, I think that the understanding of astronomical background will help to research The learning of Un-Gi.
A Study on the relation of voice and O-jang(五臟)
Baik, You-Sang ;
Journal of Korean Medical classics, volume 19, issue 2, 2006, Pages 97~107
From the study on the relation of voice and O-jang(五臟廳), the conclusion is as follows. The function of breathing out in larynx is involved with lung and kidney. Lung press out the air, at the same time, kidney supports that to maintenance the density of air constantly. So the person who has short breathing can not make strong voice, and also if having a weak kidney in upper Cho[下蕉], their voice will be changed so very softly to cannot make hard type of voice and lingering sounds. Opening and Closing of vocal cords are controled by liver and spleen. when vocal cords are contracted, liver makes tension, whereas spleen does in slackness. So liver is likely to make high-piched sounds in tension of vocal cords, and spleen is the same to do smoothy and husky sounds through relaxing the vocal cords. In the rising condition of liver function, the temp of speech become fast, and more the pronunciation is clearer, it means that the function of thinking by spleen is operated well. Otherwise, indistinct pronunciation means that in the body seup-sa(濕邪) spreads. Also depression of emotion in speech often makes Gi(氣) of heart weaker, whereas it means regular condition of heart including Simpo(心包) that expression of emotion looks happy.
Review on Argument about Three planks of the Triangular position(三網鼎立)
Jang, Woo-Chang ;
Journal of Korean Medical classics, volume 19, issue 2, 2006, Pages 108~114
Three planks of the Triangular position theory was first introduced by Sanghallon(傷寒論) authored by Jang Gi. It is the regulation for the matter of diagnosis of three different clinical symptoms in the causes of exogenous disease. It brought two questions to the scientists. First question is what are the Wind stroke(中風), Affection by cold(傷寒) and the complex form of Wind stroke(中風) and Affection by cold(傷寒) mentioned in Sanghallon. It is related to the theoretical analysis of the causes for the outbreaks of exogenous disease. Second question is what are the characteristics of symptoms to use Gyejitang, Mahwangtang, Daecheongnyongtang according to Sanghallon? It is the matter of clinical skills for dispensing a prescription. Through the theoretically and empirically deepening processes for last two millenniums, those two questions brought us two more problems further. That is, how and by what processes the Six vital substances for humal life outbreaks disease as a energy transformation? And, how the individual peculiarities of human body as a disease container should be treated? In conclusion, it is also a matter of the existence of dialectic medical science.
A Study 'On the Diagnosis and Treatment of Jaundice According to the Morbid Pulse' in the Chapter 15 of Synopsis of Golden Chamber
Kim, Myeong-Soo ; Ahn, Jun-Mo ; Cho, Gyeong-Jong ; Jeong, Heon-Young ;
Journal of Korean Medical classics, volume 19, issue 2, 2006, Pages 115~137
The Diagnosis and Treatment of Jaundice According to the Morbid Pulse in the Chapter 15 of Synopsis of Golden Chamber sets forth the classification, symptom, method of treatment, formula, prognosis of jaundice. The contents of this chapter can be induced by(from) yellowing and jaundice These two disease patterns assume various aspects of disease cause, pathomechanism, symptom, prognosis, and treatment. Jaundice was at first classified into liquor jaundice,dietary irregularly jaundice, black jaundicem abd sextual taxation jaundice, later classified into liquor jaundice, dietary irregularly jaundice, black jaundice, sextual tatation jaundice, and yellow sweat. the disease cause and pathomechanism of jaundice are said to be said to be due to the damp-heat, which is attacked with the evil of wind and dampness to affect the spleen-stomach and the liver. and to the inveterate drinking, damage by food, sextual taxation jaundice, sextual taxation, and vacuity taxation. This chapter mainly refers to jaundice as damp-heat, so that it lays down fundamental principles of clear heat and disinhibit dampness. In the prognosis of jaundice, ingibited urination shows symptoms of jaundice, and neither urination nor damp-heat develops symptoms of jaundice. and jaundice with thirst is difficult to cure, and that the symptoms of the abdominal fullness is also difficult to cure, while jaundice without thirst is ease to cure. Of the 18 days of suffering from jaundice, the symptoms of jaundice get better before and after 10 days. I think, however, that getting worse of its symptoms makes more meaningful clinically.

Seo, Dae-Seon ; Ahn, Jun-Mo ; Cho, Gyeong-Jong ; Jeong, Heon-Young ;
Journal of Korean Medical classics, volume 19, issue 2, 2006, Pages 138~162
'On the Morbid Pulse of Abdominal Fullness, Cold Mounting, and Abiding Food' in the Chapter 10 of Synopsis of Golden Chamber that enunciates Abdominal Fullness, Cold Mounting, and Abiding Food is related to the stomach and intestines respectively, and is similar to the region and symptom of disease in the light of both abdominal fullness and symptoms of pain. This chapter was united into one because the formula mentioned in this chapter can be applied to three disease patterns. Abdominal fullness shows the symptoms of distention and unease, but judging from the text as well as a specific formula and symptoms, it follows pain. Accordingly Abdominal fullness dealt with in this chapter is the first consideration and it is a kind of a disease pattern attendant on abdominal pain. Cold Mounting does not mean mounting gi disease but means the abdominal pain. The cause of cold mounting is mainly due to insufficiency of yang gi and oversufficiency of cold evil. And the main symptoms of cold mounting follow the severe pain around the naval and sweating, cold of the extremities, pulse deep and tight. Abiding food is of the same meaning such as damage of food today. Abiding food is now referred to as damage of food. Principles which have set forth in this chapter are put to use of the method of ejection in case that abiding food places in the upper part, precipitation in the lower part. The symptoms of abiding food show that the pulse is slight and slippery and the wrist pulse is both superficial and large and rough in applying the pressure, and the cubit pulse is also slight and superficial as well, and that have diarrhea and have little appetite.
