Literature Review on The Traditional Customs of Korean Family Life
Chong, Young-Sook ; Kweon, Soo-Ae ; Cho, Jae-Soon ; Choi, Mee-Sook ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 1, issue 1, 1992, Pages 1~25
The purpose of this study is to find out the traditional customs of family occasions-New Year Day, Full Moon Day, a marriage ceremony, funeral, first-year birthday, 60th birthday, other birthday, and moving a residence through a literature review. The content of each occasion consists of meaning, process of activities, costume, foods, plays, gifts, etc. The following research is suggested to survey on actual family life and to develop and provide ideal program of the family occasions through formal and informal education.
The Relation Between Family Environment, Mother's Psychosocial Competence And Children's Social Competence.
Chong, Young-Sook ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 1, issue 1, 1992, Pages 27~55
The Purpose of this study was to examine the predictive capacity of mother's perception of the family environment (cohesion, expressiveness, conflict, mother's psychosocial competence) for children's social competence. The hypotheses of this reserch were 1) There will be significant positive relationships among mother's cohesion, expressiveness, and mother's psychosocial competence. 2) There will be significant negative relationships between mother's conflict and measures of children's social competence. 3) There will not be a significant relationships between SES and measures of children's social competence. 4) There will be significant relationships between children's gender and measures of children's social competence. The subjects of this study were 133 family of mother-child. The period of research was from Aug. 20, 1990 to Feb. 29, 1992. Correlations, t-test, F-test, and multiple regression analyses were conducted to determine the relationships among variables and measures of total sample, daughter sample, and son sample. The results of this study appeared as follow: 1. Family environment (cohesion, expressiveness, and conflict) and mother's psychosocial competence were related to children's social competence. 2. There were negative relationship between mother's conflict and daughter's social competence. 3. Daughters had the higher social competence than sons. 4. Socioeconomic status(perceived by mother) of family was not related to children's social competence. 5. Sociodemographic variables affecting to children's competence were mother's school career, mother's age, mother's religion.

A Study on Relationships among Eating Behavior, Nutritional Knowledge & Physical Growth
Yoon, Yeo-Ryang ; Kim, Ki-Nam ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 1, issue 1, 1992, Pages 69~77
The purpose of this study was to find out the relationships among the eating behavior, the nutrition knowledge & the physical growth, and factors influencing each of them in middle school students. Eight hundred three boys and girls, who were sampled from the third graders of 6 middle schools located in Taejeon and Ahnmyeondo, were asked to fill out the questionaire. The statistics used for data analysis were Frequency, Percentage, Oneway, Crosstabs, Chi-square(
), t-test, Pearson Correlation, Regression, and Path analyses. The results are summarized as follows: I. The asked students showed the significant difference in frequency intaking food and the eating attitude depending on sexual distinction and area. The girls got higher frequency score(intaking food) than the boys did and the students in Taejeon got better eating attitude score than those in Ahnmyeondo. Also, the girls got higher nutrition knowledge score than the boys did and the students in Taejeon got higher nutrition knowledge than those in Ahnmyeondo. 2. The higher the economic level was, the higher the frequency score(intaking food) was. Also, the students whose father had the occupation involved in the tertiary industry and better school ing made higher nutrition knowledge, eating attitude, and frequency intaking food than others. The students whose father had the occupation involved in the tertiary industry and better schooling were taller and heavier than others. 3. The variables influencing on the frequency intaking food were father's school ing, father's occupation, economic level, sexual distinction, eating attitude. The variables influencing on eating attitude significantly was only the birth order. The variables influencing on the height were sexual distinction, residential area, eating attitude, frequency intaking food, father's schooling. Also, the variables affecting the weight were sexual distinction, father's schooling, eating attitude, frequency intaking food.
Molecular Properties of Cowpea Starch(I) Characterization of Cowpea Starch and Its Gelatinization Property
Kim, Hyang-Sook ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 1, issue 1, 1992, Pages 79~83
Cowpea starch which is the main ingredient of Mook(Korean starch gel) was isolated from cowpea and characterized by physico-chemical methods. Gelatinization properties were investigated by using Brabender amylograph. Starch granules were oval-shape and their size range was
. Crystalline type observed by X-ray deffraction was C-type. Apparent amylose content was 20.7%, Amylose and amylopectin fractionated from cowpea starch appeared to have vlue value of 0.55 and 0.089, and
limit of 79.1 and 71.9%, respectively. Brabender amylograph data showed that initial gelatinization temperature of cowpea starch was
. Also, hot and cooled paste viscosity of 8% starch paste were higher than that of 6% paste by more than twice, breakcown value of two different concentration were almost same. However, in the gelation stage, consistancy and setback of 8% starch paste appeared more than 5 times of those of 6% paste.
The Effects on the Fashion Leadership caused by Self-Image, Social Participation, Clothing Behaviors.
Kim, Eun-Young ; Lee, Jeong-Soon ;
Korean Journal of Human Ecology, volume 1, issue 1, 1992, Pages 85~95
The purpose of this research was to find out the most explainable variables influencing fashion leadership. This research was carried out by both the theoretical and empirical study. For the theoretical study, the research of fashion leadership was based on the fashion opinion leadership and innovativeness. The study included the analysis of variables influencing fashion leadership, such as clothing importance, clothing conformity, clothing anticonformity, perceived risk of clothing, use of fashion information source and demographic variables. For the empirical study, fashion leadership was measured by fashion opinion leadership and innovativeness. The variables influencing on the fashion leadership were measured by self-image, social participation, clothing behaviors(clothing importance, normative conformity, identificational conformity, clothing anticonformity, clothing independance), demographic variables(major fields of students, year of education, family income). Data were obtained from 335 female college and university students in Chung-Buk area by self-administered questionaire. The data collected through the questionaire were analyzed by the stastical thechique-stepwise regression. The results of the study were as follow: 44.6 percent of the total variance of fashion leadership was explained by the five variables: Clothing importance, use of marketer-dominated fashion information source, identificational conformity, traditional-modern self image and clothing anticonformity. Family income and the major fields of students are significantly related to the fashion leadership.
